Hello

Hi, BZPower.

I have some questions.

  1. Oversized weapons: a plague of BIONICLE or a staple of BIONICLE?
  2. Feet with the ankles coming out of the centre: good or bad?
  3. CCBS: In dire need of innovation or the best thing ever?
  4. What's your favourite colour? Yes, this has nothing to do with BIONICLE.
  5. I'm sorry for all the inane, pointless blog entries wasting server space. They are from a fool who knows nothing and you should treat them as such. Appropriate apology?

1. Staple. Giant weapons are awesome. The only time there's a problem is when they become overly specialized e.g. Strakk's axe, which is probably about as bad as it gets.

2. Eh, I've never particularly minded one way or the other. As long as they can stand up.

3. Neither. It is both amazing and in need of innovation; LEGO always is, and always does.

4. Red, probably. It's never so overt, but I always try and pick red things when I can.

5. Apology refused. Fight me.

1. Depends how oversized, and WHY they're oversized. For instance, Tahu Nuva's magma blades, Lhikan's Fire Greatswords, and 2015 Tahu's Elemental Fire Blades are all quite large, but they have to be — there's no way they could convert into a plausible surfboard otherwise. By that measure, Tahu Nuva's Magma Blades are arguably undersized, because the surfboard they form is ridiculously thin.

In general, I feel like a lot of the BIONICLE theme's design language calls for things to be at least a little bit over-the-top. But when that means sacrificing the versatility of a part it can be a little bit questionable.

2. Bad, generally speaking. But for Bohrok it was OK since they weren't really supposed to be human-like at all, and it could almost be interpreted like "talons" with two toes sticking forward and one sticking back.

3. I wouldn't call it the best thing ever (if by that you mean there's no need to improve it further), but I wouldn't say it's in dire need of innovation either. Certainly it is the best building system constraction has had. It's proven its versatility, and the designers have proven their ability to innovate with the actual set designs without habitually introducing new shells and beams every year. So while there's definite room for new innovations there isn't some gaping void in the current system that needs to be filled.

4. Probably orange. Used to be red, but that's mainly because my parents always dressed me in red things to tell me apart from my twin brother, so I identified with the color on a personal level. So while I still like red, I like orange a bit more for many applications.

5. Absolutely not! Quit your groveling, man! Show some self-respect!

1. Staple, sure they sometimes looked laughably large, but this gave BIONICLE a lot of charm IMO.

2. Good, although to be honest, I've never really thought about this before.

3. Not the best thing, but still pretty awesome; doesn't need innovation, but probably couldn't hurt either.

4. Black.

5. Get me an Apology Cake first, then we can talk.

1] Staple. I usually prefer to use smaller weapons on MOCs, but large weapons are just part of Bionicle...I'm looking at Kopaka and his spear is just weirdly small.

2] On the very rare occasions that middle-ankles were used, they didn't bother me. I wouldn't want that sort of design on Toa or Protectors, though.

3] I'm totally happy with CCBS. I'm not opposed to innovation, of course, but I'd be content if we just got new CCBS Bionicle molds regularly. Maybe a new torso piece.

4] Turquoise, but any medium/dark shade of blue will do.

5] I like your questions! So, no, I guess.
