Just play it cool. if she's sitting at a table, just sit near her and say Hi. If she has ######## or AIM, MSN, etc. talk to her on there. Or email. Be friendly. Most importantly, never be rude or say gibberish. If you have to, talk to one of her friends. Talk to her. Get to know her.
