.Hack//LIMINALITY is the 4-part OVA movie included with the .Hack games, and tells the story of a group of people trying to uncover the truth behind the comas induced by The World.

This movie is actually quite different from .Hack//SIGN, which tells the events leading up to the storyline of the games. Whereas scenes outside The World (i.e. in real life) are soundless and mostly black and white in SIGN, LIMINALITY shows none of the events inside The World. The backgrounds and characters are more realistic, yet the story is a lot more fast-paced due to the time being more limited. 27 episodes allow for a slower pace than a two-hour OVA.

Despite the fact that you do need a bit of foreknowledge before viewing the movie, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the story and atmosphere are more like a thriller movie than your average anime story. Some find that LIMINALITY is the least cool anime in the .Hack series, but I have to disagree. I enjoyed it even more than I did SIGN, so I'd definitely recommend this one as a must-watch.


On a side note, I noticed my Anime category is one of the least active categories of the Quarters comment-wise. I'm not asking for more replies, don't get me wrong - I know there's often little to reply to in these entries. I just want to know whether anyone finds these entries interesting.
I mostly put them in as an extended and elaborated version of my interests list, but I was curious as to whether they're worth reading or not.

And even more unrelated: I tweaked the lower half of the side banner a bit and added a few more pictures to the composition for a more uniform look.
