Toph

So I'm not sure whether I should put this in Life or Other, so it goes in Other.

I watched a bunch of episodes of Avatar (sadly season 2, they couldn't find season 1) with a friend and her dad. So yeah. I didn't expect to like it, but I ended up really getting into it. I guess that's a sign of a good show. :)

Writing is excellent, concept is excellent, casting is excellent... it's excellent. :P

I really loved Toph. The way she Earth-bent was... awesome. I really want Greg to write the Elements more like that. More acrobatic and less "Hey, I'm a Toa of Stone, let me find pressure points in the rock and make it fall apart!" and more "Hya! I am awesome and I don't wield a silly dupe Element! Fear me as I stomp the ground and own you all! *smash, crash, earth pillars, flying boulders, ownage*"

Yeh, Toph was entertaining.
Definitely gonna make the Toa in my Epic more awesome like that.

The hybrid animals were interesting too.

I'd say, if you haven't seen it, it's well worth renting it or something.

I always imagine the Toa as bending. Must be my subconciousness. >>

I don't watch Avatar but I wish the Toa were more like this/the way Bunda described.

So...

1) Are you accepting anime?

2) Is this friend someone you can stand, as opposed to the folks you talked about last week?

Yeah, Avatar is a really good show, almost on par with some other tv shows I watch. It's pretty much the only good show on Nick anymore.

Also, Toph is amazing, but I like Azula better.

The first time I watched Avatar, I was expecting it to be dumb and childish, but the episodes drew me in quickly. There was way more character development in the show than most people would expect, and the storyline is incredible. Season 2 owned Season 1, and Season 3 is owning the both of them so far. I can't wait for the new episodes to air next month. Anyway, yes Toph is awesome, they should have brought her into the show earlier, but that's just me. I do agree with Neku though, Azula is better. ^_^

I love that show. Too bad that I can't watch the episodes without my parents groaning and telling me that I'm too old to be watching "kid" shows and playing with Lego (Bionicle) anymore :/

I liked Toph, but I must say my favorite characters were Zuko's uncle (what's his name again :P) and Ty Lee :3

Probably gonna happen to me too.

What if there was a little more of that in general in Bionicle?

This would be a good thing. Basically, I want faster paced fights. Like in Island of Doom, three of the Toa Nuva are surrounded by all the Piraka, yet they have time to make a plan of attack... >_>

You should.

1) Yes. Since I moved I have accepted it as a form of art, and not all of it is poorly done.

2) Yeah. She's younger than me, (twelve? Thirteen? Can't remember.) and her brother is older, (18) so I get along with them pretty well. The girl is largely the reason why I don't have an ilogical fear of manga anymore. (she like to draw it a lot, and I enjoy watching her and telling her how to make it better even though I can't draw worth a flip. )

Azula...? But she's a baddy. :o

*cough*AvatarRPG*cough**a little blood*

I've considered it, but I'm sure it's too far along to join.

:o

Did you just cough up blood?

I was the same... but her dad was enjoying it (and some other people that were there) made me think it wasn't.

Aww, poor Macku.

Yeah, both those characters are entertaining. I love the part where Iroh was talking about the flower making either the most delicious tea or horrible poison...

Man, I love Avatar. Or used to (haven't seen it in awhile). I do wish the Toa controlled their elements like the benders do. I personally like Azula (she bends lightning!), but Toph's pretty sweet too.

 Yeah, that part rocks. And then he finds the berries that either cure the infection or cause blindness. I recommend that you watch all the episodes that have been released in order; it will build up the storyline for you, and then when you reach the 16th (or so) episode of Season 2, it's all story climax from there. Even into Season 3; nothing but climax.

Yeah, I'm gonna see if I can borrow all of them. I have a computer (pretty old and slow) in my room that plays DVDs, so hopefully even if my parents weren't interested, (they liked Invader Zim, which I also got into through the girl and her dad) I could still watch it.

Love the show. I was actually there for the premier in 05 or 06. (Can't remember)

Toph is one bad blind chick though. Did you see her bend metal?

----------

Anyway, I would love to see the Toa bending. I'm sure that's how the first Toa did it. When elemental power was an art rather than a weapon.

No, not yet. I'm really hoping I can borrow the series today or tomorrow though.

Yeah, probably.

It seems like it was more like bending back in 2001... like they would manipulate the elements to give them tactical advantages, rather than just using it as a boring old blast.

(i.e. Gali making the tides bring her in to escape a Tarakava, or Lewa propelling himself with air to reach a mask)

Toph is my favorite character.

I agree with you, the Toa should bend like they do in Avatar.

1) Yes. Since I moved I have accepted it as a form of art, and not all of it is poorly done.

Avatar isn't technically anime, if you define anime as Japanese animation. It was inspired by a lot of Asian stuff, but made here in the States by Nickolodeon.

Avatar is one of my favorite shows. Evar. And Toph is awesome. So is Azula. I also like Iroh, Zhao, Roku, Long Feng (all the Dai Li, really), Ty Lee... and The Boulder. :D

You can watch Avatar chapters online, you know. I do that sometimes when I miss an episode. It would be a cheaper way to watch the first season.

Now I'm all caught up.

*waits for new episodes*
