This And That ...

Nothing too earth-shaking, just bits of news --

-- Probably the one of most import to you guys will be something I did yesterday -- the first ever official map of the BIONICLE universe. I sketched it out for a Polish BIONICLE guidebook set to come out this fall, and it will now be redrawn by some people who can actually draw :) So if there are Eastern European BIONICLE fans on here, expect to see some scans of it later this year.

-- Busy month just past, getting that book done for some very wonderful publishing folks over there, and a busy one coming up -- a library event, my birthday, Comic-Con, and closing on a new house. Then the big move, but hopefully by September things will calm down ... just in time for me to head to Denmark for a 2010 BIONICLE story meeting.

-- Spoke to Scholastic last week -- they are hopeful that the movie in 2009 will boost book sales. Meanwhile, sales are going okay in Germany and France and very well in Russia, as I understand it. Certainly the '03 movie did a lot for 2004 book sales -- I think BA #1 is still the best-selling book in the series.

So... will that book be translated into Polish or whatever? Or will it stay English, because then I might be able to buy it via Amazon?

Umm... the book is going to be released in Poland, so it surely be translated to Polish. Polish kids don't speak English well at age od 9-11 (Well, there are some who do, like I did when I was 10, but there aren't many...)

Speaking of Translation - Greg, do you know who will translate the info in the book? I hope that the translator isn't the same guy who translated Bionicle.com - he propably does'nt know Polish at all, because the Site is very badly translated. And how much will the book cost?

I'll find a way to get that book and read it. It doesn't hurt that I have polish friends. I hope you had a fun birthday.

Cool.. a new map. Can't wait to see it. ^_^

Also, happy birthday in advance! :D (Since we don't know when it is..)

Nice stuff.

But if you say you drew a map of the BIONICLE universe, do you mean the Matoran universe or the entire planet? I think the latter would heavily interfere with 2009 and beyond.

Good to hear book sales in germany are "ok". As far as I know only BL6 &7 were translated into German and I never heard of anything else. If they mean any Bionicle sales in germany, remember to thank the German fans ehre at BZP who order all english books via amazon ;)

A BIONICLE MAP?! *Bounces off walls and ceiling with excitement, then lands neatly and straightens tie* Ahem.

*puts tape in radio* A merry, merry unbirthday to you, to you...

Again, Ahem.

Congrats on the house, and good luck at the meeting. Sounds like sales are doing prety good. :)

Ooh wow! A map! I can't wait to see it!

Maybe it will all make sense after that...

Thanks for the information as always, Greg!

...This map, will it have islands we don't know about, but their names will be listed? Like the Shadowed One's homeland? And Prototype's isolation island? Ohhh, I can't wait, now!

Now when you say map, do you mean map of all the places we have heard about so far (Stelt, Xia, Destral, etc.) or a map of EVERY place, even those we haven't yet seen?

YES! I LIVE IN EASTERN EUROPE! (Or maybe it's western, I'm currently too excited about buying this Nintendo Wii game)

Universe map - the best thing I ever heard.

sales are going okay in Germany and France and very well in Russia,

HOW CAN IT BE POSSIBLE?

I never have bought book with translations so awful as in these books. I'm always bying English originals from Amazon instead of this junk - Russian BIONICLE books are just a waste of money and paper.

Does the map have just locations we know of? I was under the impression there were dozens/hundreds of domes we had no direct knowledge of.

Don't generalize so much Lemo. I'm certainly convinced, that many younger fans, members of Polish Bionicle Forums know english pretty well.

I already told Greg few years ago, that in Polish language version Nidhiki was a 'she' not 'he' as it was supposed to be. Hopefully we will get a new translator.

I'm looking forward to this book. I'm surely getting it, and I will make scans as soon as possible. Finally something good is going to show up in our country. It may be a sign of good will of publishers, and a trial, whether the books will sell in our country or not. We must finally get them! You have no idea how hard was it to get Prisoners of the Pit in Poland... Luckily I know english pretty well... Or rather I think so :)

My guess is that the map will clear up a lot of the Mata Nui mysteries. (Greg confirmed in a post a while back that the lay-out of the islands is relevant to Mata Nui)

I am going to force my parents to travel to Euorope just to get that guidebook... And happy (Late) birthday Greg!

Ooh, I'd really like to see the map. Do you know if that Polish guidebook may be imported to America and translated to English?

Oh, and (I know it's early), but happy birthday! :)

Ditto :happydance:
