Agreed. I guess it's to make them stand out on the shelves more. I had a theory way back when that Mata Red, Mata Blue, Thok White (the color of Kopaka Phantoka's canister), and three different colors of green, yorownge, and (if one can dream of such a thing) black/gray would be used, so both series would have three sets that matched the canisters and three that didn't, plus Makuta would always have darker primary colors and Toa would have brighter ones. Pretty clear how far that theory went.

Of course, I can't say I'd like Vamprah in Mata Blue, or Antroz in Mata Red. It'd be a nice throwback, but in terms of overall looks I'd say the "dark colors for Makuta trend" was a nice way to establish consistency. While it was not maintained for the Mistika, it's nice to see that they still were able to give the Mistika Makuta the same dark evilness with just black to establish darkness.
