No Good Title, But It's A Rant

Remember a year ago, when I got my hamster, Suzy? I had asked my parents about the possibility of it being a family pet, and my parents both said "No, if you want it, you'll have to get it with your own money, clean it's cage yourself" etc. etc. I was fine with that, and went and bought Suzy myself, got her cage herself, and have been the primary caregiver for the year or more I've had her. Now, my brother wants a gerbil. Same deal, right? He can get the gerbil himself, buy the cage and everything himself, and call it his, right? Wrong. Either my dad has a soft spot for Colin (my brother) or a soft spot for gerbils, whatever the case may be, but he said that it's going to be a family pet, just happen to live in Colin's room. Just like that. He is getting the gerbil itself free from a friend of his at work, but he's still going to buy the cage and everything, and take care of it, and have it be a family pet, which I had asked for a year ago, then when my parents said "No" I just backed off and got her myself. Now, by brother has pestered more, but still, that's saying "I'll give in if you beg," which is a bad thing to teach a kid. There's some sort of bias here, and it's not fair.

Another thing that might contribute to this topic. My dad seems to be under the impression that I beat on Colin, and he's an innocent victim, which is totally untrue. To quote my mom, "He's a little tyrant." I haven't fought with him much at all the past 8 months or so, but he still tries to get a reaction out of me. And my dad is sympathetic to HIS cause, while he snaps at me and doesn't listen when I tell him the facts. He just blows it off.

There's something here, and whatever it is, I hate it with a passion. It's not my dad, or my brother, or the gerbil or anything. It's, like, my brother's seemed innocence. It automatically makes him immune to any blame, and it gets deflected to me because I'm just the stereotypical angsty teen who likes different music. Put the biggest sarcasm tag around that as you can imagine.

That reminds me of this thing I read online. They were teaching the ten commandments, and asked which one told people how to treat siblings. One little kid instantly said "Thou shall not kill." Please don't delete this for religious discussion, mods? It's just for fun.
