10%
I'm sure you've all heard the old saying that we only use 10% of our brains. Karl Lashley performed some experiments on rats in the 1920s that started this saying.. Lashley removed large areas of the cerebral cortex in rats and found that these animals could still relearn specific tasks after removing 90% of the cerebral cortex. Thus, he concluded that rat's only used 10% of their brain. Somehow, it got inferred that humans only use 10% of their brains, and for some reasons it's stuck. Last time I checked, I'm not a rat, and neither are you. So stop claiming that we only use 10% of our brains. Thanks.
