How Can They Be This Cool?!?

I got 4 of the 6 new neo shifters! Yeah yeah yeah, they are mega blocks, who cares. I like em for their action figure quality, as I was an action figure collector long before being a lego builder.

These are by far the coolest looking Neo Shifters. While the Paladins feature the older parts design, their new wings, masks and weapons are totally awesome! And the Templars!!!! The Templars are So AWESOME! Please see pics...... And please click the pics to see bigger pics!

Here we have the Paladins.

And their eyes light up all cool like. Their eye patterns will project onto a wall if they are close enough.

The masks are a lot more detailed now than they were before, and the figures joints are really tight, unlike the last batch of shifters. The Neo's that come with these guys are the new Uuber poseable type as well, having jointed knees and waist, and the arms still move like the old ones, and the head is a better design that doesn't break like the old Neos.

Like previous sets, the Neos fit snugly into the chests of their shifter counterparts.

Here we have the Templars. Note the awesomeness of translucent rubbery parts.... They also have a new style of hand and foot.

The Templars eyes light up with the sickly green color of corrupted hydrax fiends...

The Templars masks are made of rubber, while the Paladins masks are the traditional plastic type. They are very secure, and the rubber makes for a cool organic factor. The angle on the wings is cool too, as they flip out all wicked like when you release them when its in ball mode. This pic shows the angle that they sit at...

And of course, both types rolled up into their ball form....

The remaining Paladin and Templar are arriving in the mail sometime this week, as well as the web shifters. I have been waiting for the web shifters to come out for months! I can't wait to see how they are! :D

Stay tuned for a blog entry as soon as I get em in!

I bought one of these for my brother last Christmas. I think it was called 'Zorn' or something.
Unfortunately, the little rubber strap that made the little guy pop out was nonexistent in the set, so we had to order a new one. D:
EDIT: And yes, the replacement part was free. =)

I really think MB has something here. Neo shifters are now in their 3rd release of new sets, and they keep getting better. I am eagerly awaiting the web shifters, as I want to play the web games associated with the toys. Internet interactive for the win!

I'll take a pic of all my shifters so one can see the evolution of these toys.

Bummer on the missing part, oh well, it happens in Lego too....... They sent the rubber to you for free right? I am sure MB has a replacement parts service like TLG.

And nobody said ya HAVE to like em 5. :P tee hee

I'm sure there's some rule around here saying you can't post MB.

Granted, these guys do look cool.

But wouldn't it have been better to spend the money on Lego?

I have so much Lego CF, that it doesn't really matter to spend some on a few cool action figure robots. :) I really need to sort out my mass hoarde of Lego before I buy anymore, plus they only come out with one batch of these per year, unlike Bionicle sets which have two big releases in a year.

I am a toy lover, and just because it aint lego doesn't mean it isn't allowed. I think there is an official Neo Shifters topic in COT too....

Ya! The video on their website is really cool, and shows that the Neo Shifter universe is way different than the bionicle universe. The lore, the land and the purpose is totally different than bionicle. The figures are said to be "bionicle-esque", but do not share the same style of connection system. Where bionicle is based on ball sockets, neo shifters have a peg to socket setup for all the limbs. All neo shifters can fly in their story, and they can go into outer space too.

I don't think there are any special powers behind their masks. I think that the mask is their face.

and bunda, wait till I get the others. I saw pictures of the web shifters, and they look way too awesome! :o

But don't get me wrong, Bionicle owns this toyline as far great sets with quality, as well as being able to build anything you want!

@ Zip: The piece quality is a good as Lego's; none of the pieces have had a problem with breaking so far on my little brother's set. ^_^
Also, I agree with Roa in the fact that little -if none- of the pieces included in the sets are meant to be interchangeable. In that field, Lego owns. :P

They use good plastic on these sets. You can use them for bowling games when they are rolled up too. They hold up well to being dropped, and to moderately rough play. You can build mocs with this stuff, but anything that you can build is more or less on the lame side. They are more meant to be stand alone figures.

The Split Shifter set shows some of what you can do with these, as the set is two shifters with some extra parts that can be formed into a two pilot vehicle with another robot. I'll have to take pics of it built in both versions with the moc I made out of the spare parts.

Tradakk, I think the set you are talking about is Scar & Dorn. The shifter is grey and green, and was one of the first ones released. :)

I know. I have two first generation ones (Blaze<>Axe and Atlas::Raan), and they are SUPER-COOL!

I wish Bionicle made transforming stuff. :(

it's like the transformers and bionicle ran at each other very very fast, and this was the outcome of the molecules mixing. :glare: Cool, but rip offs. I'm not the biggest fan of transforming toys (that heavily transform).

Now I really hate being broke. ;.;

I have em all now, and two of the new ones I got had mistakes. One set was missing the light up head, but came with 2 neo's, and the other had the wrong head. They are replacing the parts, and I also told them about some sets I had gotten that were faulty from new. Their joints were all loose, and they are going to replace them!

I'll have a blog entry detailing every Neo shifters set so anyone who is curious can see if they are worth buying.

Mega Blocks customer service is as good as Lego, but I find it more personable, as you are talking to an actual person over email or phone rather than just filling out a form for parts replacement.

Either way, I love Bionicle, and I love Neo shifters too. And seeing that Neo shifters are on the cheaper spectrum, I can afford to buy both.

I cannot WAIT to get my 2009 Bionicle sets. :D

Huh. In my opinion, this is because MB is trying to be better than Lego. Which IMO is not possible.

But of course I'm extremely anti-MB :P . So is Arpy, if you hadn't noticed.

Mega Blocks takes pride in their products, just like Lego does. A company that gives bad service obviously doesn't take pride in their product. Mega Blocks isn't trying to be better than Lego, they are simply out there to supply a building toy thats a little more affordable.

And I say, Mega Blocks are better than Best-Lock..........

Yes, they have their own version of the zamor launcher.

The zamor launcher is far better, as I have had the "hyraxx energy spheres" fall apart after shooting them at a hard surface, letting out the styrofoam beads. :(

Although, the weapons that the templars have is really a cool concept. Its a bolo launcher. The projectile looks like a strap with a ball on either end. It slips into the front of the launcher, and stretches back to the flipper in the back, and when you articulate the flipper and release it, the ammunition flies out and spins through the air as it goes forward. Pretty spiffy projectile. :)

Lame.

QFT.

Maybe they look cool, but I still use 'em as baseballs. And oh what joy I get from hitting a ball-of-Bohrok ripoff and watching the pieces rain down around me... <3

Okay, yeah, I kinda want then 'cause I miss the Bohrok, but there's no way I'd spend any money to support TLG's eeeeevil competitor. Not after setting them on fire, shooting then with 22s and pounding them into logs, no...
