Axalaraaaaaaaaa

I has.

Got for $64.

Very nice indeed.

It's bigger than it looks in any of the pictures... yeah, it's really huge. Lewa's mask isn't as bad as I thought either. Still kinda squashed.

All the random silver weapons are throwing off my groove, though. =/

I love all the random silver weapons. Mainly cause I didn't have some of them, or because I didn't have a lot of them. Personnaly, the panels are my favorite part.

Where'd you get it for $64? I've been looking for a good sale. ;)

-SK

Wal Mart on the clearance isle.

Apparently it's not a wide spread deal though, so don't get your hopes up.

I heartily agree about the random silver weapons. One reason I had my heart set on Rockoh from the start is that Axalara has a horrendous lack of stylistic consistency. Definitely could have done with some more care in that area.

I've seen Lewa's mask from several angles, and it seems O.K. However, I agree that it's kinda squashed. Changes I'd make? Keep and lengthen the top fin on the Phantoka version to add that center spike from the original Miru Nuva (the center spike even matches the style of the new visor! Why'd you drop that of all aspects, LEGO?). The upper rim of the mouth area could also stand to be raised a bit, making it level with the Phantoka version as well as the original version.

The eyes are perhaps the best trait-- as much as I loved the wide goggles of the Phantoka version, the curved eyes better match the original Miru Nuva. Really the mouth area is probably where it suffers most, and even that is debatable. But I'd have to see the mask in front of me before I can affirm my like or dislike for the mask.

Hope I can find it for a good price-- my little brother wants it, but he has no means of paying for it. And if one store has it on clearance, it won't be too long before it stops disappearing.

Funny, Rockoh looks like it has many more randoms silver weapons than Axalara to me... as well as lacking any color scheme and stylistic consistancy. To each his own, I suppose.

I think Jetrax does the best in the style department, though.

No stylistic consistency? Too many random silver weapons? How is that? After all, it uses both types of 2008 wings (which really do look good together), the Aqua Warblade alongside the Mahri Nui Matoran Electro-Blades on the lower section, and a few unassuming structural weapons to the aft of the vehicle. The only parts I'd probably replace are the Gahlok-Kal shields on the sides, since they are the only parts with no stylistic consistency to other parts on the vehicle. The main motifs on the vehicle include the Mahri blade motif, the 2008 wing motif, and several large, smooth areas. There are few parts of it which do not have one of those motifs. Axalara, comparably, has Electro-blades but also Bordakh blades, original Takanuva blades, Mistika Toa Nuva wings, Bitil wings, Nuparu Mahri shields, etc. These pieces are mostly clustered in a few areas of the craft and have no pieces further away that match them-- the sole exception are the Bitil wings, which appear both in front of the craft and near where Lewa sits. The only really well-distributed motif is that of the large, smooth areas. I suppose it's not as bad as I made it out to be, but it's really the Mahri blades, Takanuva staves, and Nuparu Mahri shields in close proximity that kill it for me.

EDIT: Forgot about the Kopaka Phantoka wings in the back. Those are kinda redeeming, spreading the wing motif from the front of the vehicle to the back quite effectively.

And no color scheme? How is that? Its dark green is well-organized along the sides of the vehicle, while the lime forms smooth bands down the center that merge in the front. It is only lacking in regard to color scheme organization (try to make that distinction; it helps me sometimes) towards the aft, where I agree there is a fair deal more silver than elsewhere. But then, it largely resembles a motorbike or car, and both those vehicles often have plainer areas around the seat than the vibrantly-colored shell around the front and back.

Gosh, I need to draw Rockoh...

Meanwhile, the Jetrax, while beautiful in shape and to an extent in stylistic consistency, has those darn Krika blades on the front. They're not completely horrible, but their textures and motifs are not mirrored anywhere else on the vehicle. I can see where you see stylistic consistency-- there's hardly an armor or weapon piece on there that isn't used several times. In fact, I have to say it's probably about as good as Rockoh in that respect, and in terms of overall style it outclasses the Rockoh with its speedy, sporty birdlike appearance.

I'll still prefer Rockoh for that roxxome Pohatu, of course. ;)

Sounds like me. D=

...but not like my little bro anymore. 'Cuz we went to Wal-Mart, and it was on clearance for $64. And Lyi and I had gift cards.

'Tis a good set, even if the body doesn't seem as solidly-covered and streamlined as Rockoh and Jetrax had. Though I have to say, its random silver weapons do have an advantage over those on Rockoh in that the randomest ones aren't so clumped together (really hate the Bohrok shields on Rockoh above all others). Action feature is of course win, and like Jetrax's a lot more "action-packed" than Rockoh's. (even though the display in Target last year called the little System lasers on Technic skipoles which the action feature folds and unfolds "rockslide cannons" which might be the coolest weapon name since "quake breakers")

We bought it for him, and he paid us back (including tax) with a plethora of odd money including $2 bills and several Sacagawea and Susan B. Anthony dollar coins. No idea how he accumulated such a plethora of underused currency, but I suppose it's probably from birthdays or something. He didn't have any large bills.
