Moc's Or Artwork?

So, this is a serious question that we're working on. For canon representations, do you all prefer art, or MoCing?

Give specific reasons if you can.

Personally I consider MOCs to actually be Artwork, but that's another discussion.

Anyway, to answer your question I would prefer that canon characters, which do not appear as sets, have their appearances canonized by sketches.

I prefer art because that way, you're not limited to certain pieces, specifically masks (helmets) and weapons.

Artwork based off of a (high-quality) MOC. Of course my opinion could go either way considering specifics, but if the model looks good, accurate art of it is a better representation of canon.

It depends on the style of each. Moderately set-style (yet still innovative) MOCs are good, as are drawings stylized either very little or as much as those in BIONICLE World or the readers. But I don't have a strict preference for either.

One thing's for certain-- artwork tends to be able to get away with more original designs without looking fabricated. A custom mask with actual parts is rarely up to snuff, while a custom-drawn mask can be much better. But still, oftentimes completely custom design isn't the best for certain characters.

Totally expected this.

Also, only like half of you actually answered the question, but whatever.

Basically wanted to know what to do with the Kirbold stuff, because putting the two in the same poll is just ridiculous, in my opinion. I mean, it doesn't really matter how awesome the MoC is, artwork is just going to win out anyway, according to general sentiment. Predestination never sits well with me.
