Cynthia

I couldn't beat her, not when my team is ten levels lower than hers. =/

And it doesn't help when my only Ice move is Physical and is carried by an Electric type who has terrible Physical Attack and is weak to Ground while Cynthia's perfectly IV'd Garchomp has Earthquake and gets STAB. ;_;

I only beat her because she was stupid and used Earthquake on my Scizor instead of Fire Blast, which would have KO'd me. Pretty sure my team was about level 50-51 at the time.

Her Garchomp floored me, regardless.

It's too bad I haven't been able to up my Electabuzz to an Electivire. That would probably help.

Anyone wanna help me with that? I've never traded before so I would need halp.

I only won because I spend a long time leveling up my Infernape to 100 and using my level 100 Regigigas (hurray for sorta cheating!) =1

Wow. That must have been boring.

Use the X items, such as X Attack, X Speed, etc. combined with a lot of Full Restores.

Hmm, that's an idea. That, combined with a wee bit more training and Bibarel's Yawn, I may be able to beat her today.

And if you don't have a team of six, make sure to bring Pokemon to send out as death fodder, to allow your main team members healing and such.

and unnecessary. I'm taking "only won" as "barely won" here, but it sounds like you still had trouble. O.o

Anyways, what I did was saved right before her, healed my Pokemon, and just kept at it. In your case, just try to get it perfect to kill the Garchomp and then just see if it works after that. =\

What's the rest of your team? In the meantime, get yourself a Shuca Berry (from that house at the far left end of Pastoria) and give it to Electabuzz.

It's funny, though; my Electivire's Attack is insanely high, so I thought that high Attack was a trait of of the Electabuzz line.

Yeah, I thought that would be the case too, but when I got my Electivire today (Laka helped, and also gave me the Lake Trio and Rotom...) I wrote down the stats of Electabuzz prior to the trade. When I got it back I found the Special Attack and Special Defense hadn't changed at all, while Attack had gotten a major boost and so surpassed Sp Attack. Speed went down, and HP went up a bit. It's a pleasant surprise, though, 'cause now he can effectively use Ice Punch.

My team is:

Torterra

Rapidash ( Megahorn)

Bibarel (named Bidoof :P)

Crobat

Electivire

Girafarig

It's apparently a good team, since I beat Laka with it. :P

I've got a Shuca berry or so. I'll try it out.

Oh good.

Well... if 'Vire fails again, try bringing out Torterra. It should fare reasonably defensively against Garchomp, which you should attempt to nuke with Leaf Storm in combination with a White Herb, if you can get one. Crobat should also be able to survive against it; it lacks anything supereffective, though, so just hit it with Crobat's strongest Flying move.

If this advice fails, I won't be surprised in the least. After all, it's coming from me.

It actually worked. It allowed 'Vire a chance to use an Ice Punch, which didn't KO Garchomp, but it knocked him down enough to get him with other things. 'Vire got KO'd next turn, though.

Torterra was OHKO'd every time I sent him out, by Flamethrower.

Where would be the fun in that? I beat her last night, anyway, thanks to Dlakii and the Shuca berry.

Trying to fill out my National Dex now... you don't happen to have a Lotad, do you?

Great!

Erm... whoops. I thought Ground provided a Fire resistance, balancing out to make it neutral against Torterra. Now I've double-checked my source, I've just found that the Torterra species has abysmal base Special Attack.
