I've seen numerous bird related mishaps, but the feathered things always come out of it alive.

A pigeon once fell down our chimney and came out our fireplace, finding itself trapped in our living room. We were out at the time, so when we came back he poor thing was petrified, flapping all over the place.

One of our cats once managed to get his teeth into a magpie, and tried bringing it into the house. we'd spotted it and had shut the cat flap. It put the bird down to try and look innocent and get in...and the magpie immediately took off. It had only been playing dead.

And probably most miraculously of all, I once saw a pigeon get hit by a train. It was on the rails, saw the train coming and tried to fly off, but didn't move fast enough and got sucked in by the slipstream. I could actually see it getting bounced around under the train's carriage, between the wheels. It survived, but it was out cold for a few minutes, and when it did get up it could only stagger off to the side, dazed and with a broken wing.

They can be tough little critters, birds.
