What The Hammer, What The Chain?

The sound of hammers and drills fills your ears. Sparks ignite from open circuits, heavy cables litter the steel grid floor as you make your way down the corridor. The swaying deck betrays your location. You are still on board, but how different is this? The planking is gone, baring the steel hull and mechanical nature of the ship... Welding torches are lit on the deck above, a circle saw screams.

Beneath faltering neon lights, you continue your exploration. A large hatch door stands ajar, the six heavy clamps, adorned with chevrons, have been released. From inside: steel-toned laughter, snide remarks and the air heavy with steam and the smell of oil...

Now you enter...

The Vahki Bay.

Nothing is permanent, I suppose... so I'll live with the change. And take the most out of it too! I think a more major change of style will do much better than a few polishings here and there. Mech can be so awesome. And I was getting bored of Jack Sparrow.

 

What is behind the style change? An increase in listening to heavy metal?

With utmost caution, she picked her way along the slippery metallic deck, noting how strange it was to feel cold metal instead of soft smelly wood planks under her bare feet.

 

She put her head against the door to hear the raucous din inside.

 

This was it.

 

Looking around, she pulled the over-sized bandana a little more over her head, struggling to keep her large and billowing shirt on her frame.

 

She was not taking any chances.

 

Leaning against the side of the entrance, back against the cold metal, she waited for the door to open, and get a glimpse inside to see if a particular person was in there.
