Family

Why is it whenever I get a good take, one of my family members decides to ruin it by asking me something within the microphone's range, making a loud noise, shouting at me or otherwise being disruptive?

Because family's first! :P

But seriously, I can certainly imagine how that can be annoying. I'm sure many of us have had trouble with that in the past when living at home.

If you do it, do it by yourself. It's a little like when i do my art and somebodies watching me. Nothing against it, but "what are you drawing, why are you drawing" can be annoying as heck.

Unfortunately, I do. I do all my work in the basement since down there it's harder for them to hear, yet they still complain about it despite my efforts to accommodate them short of putting soundproofing on the door, and oftentimes they'llcome down and ask me to do something for them since they're all fairly disinterested in physical work of most sorts.

You definitely need one of them "ON AIR" thingies outside of your room.

Having one of those would actually be pretty awesome. Actually, I have electric tape, red plastic, a lightbulb and some wire, I can probably get the lightswitch and the socket at a local hardware shop, I ought to make one of these...
