Applied force of my hand matches the magnitude of the normal force of the mouse, kinetic friction opposes by force. Add to that wind conditions, angle of wrist to object, thermal conditions, time of day, day of week, week of year... Well, you get the idea. I'm not taking phyisics yet, but I guess I may need to.
