An MOCer is a person who builds MOCs.

An MOCist is a person who builds MOCs and is elitist about it.

I'm an MOCist.

But kind of funny.

Though I can't figure out what he means by "builed".

To be fair, when we coined that term five years or so ago, it was to be used to differentiate the 'average' person who MOCs from those who took it seriously and were awesome at it. So the quote up above isn't that far off base.

'K...well he makes it seem like it's a bad thing, but I'm hoping you're not thinking that.

And I was waiting for you to come in and say something.

As you've probably figured out, I sometimes have used the term in that sense. But these days I try not to. ;)

Some MOCists are a bit too judgmental of less serious MOCers and MOCs (think the type of comments I talk about in my most recent blog entry), but, perhaps because of that example, other people without any MOCing talent to speak of make the same over-the-top criticisms.

I suppose what can be said of MOCists is that they're trendsetters: they set the standard of excellence for BIONICLE and LEGO creations. And thus, their names are those which stand out to lesser builders, as with their styles. It's when people begin to see these brilliant MOCists as the standard for MOCs in general, not just the superb ones, that people become far more judgmental than is appropriate.
