VampireBohrok Posted November 2, 2009 Don't forget that it would look hilarious too. Quote Link to comment
Catra Posted November 2, 2009 I hope whoever's got a pocket full of pure sodium gets water dumped on them. Quote Link to comment
Turaga Dlakii Posted November 2, 2009 *man with sodium in pocket causing pants-fires walks by* "Oh my god THAT MAN'S ON FIRE! Hose him down!" Quote Link to comment
Lord Kaitan de Storms Posted November 2, 2009 I know some people who would actually do that. Quote Link to comment
Ynot Posted November 3, 2009 Wow, that is an amusing musing But, yeah he would deserve both that and to have water dumped on him Quote Link to comment
Brickthing Posted November 3, 2009 I would think people stealing sodium would think to keep it in the oil it came in, because there's a reason small amounts of metal worth stealing come in oil. Unless it wasn't in oil, in which case I'm surprised they got it in their pocket without burning their hand. Quote Link to comment

I don't know all the details since apparently it happened in Michigan or something, but apparently a teacher was showing his students how reactive sodium was with water, the class ended, the teacher accidentally left the sodium out, the kid stole some, his nether regions caught fire, and now teachers aren't allowed to do that. Having sodium out to be stolen, or setting kids' pants on fire? I know that in New Zealand, many schools aren't allowed Potassium in school anymore, and even Lithium is a teacher's demonstration. Kylus Posted November 8, 2009 LOL, I just had a really stupid question in Science class like that. "Your friend just came back from a hiking trip and found a piece of sodium for you. What is your response?" XD Quote Link to comment
