Best Video Game Of 2009: Round 2

Well, so many people complained about Assassin's Creed II being left out that I'm going to just ignore the stupid leaving it out until next year and stick it in in the place of Arkham Asylum, which was good but not as good IMO. So GOODBYE (video game website with forums), WE NEED YOU NO LONGER.

 

Plus it gives MW2 an actual challenge. The only downside is that next year is probably going to be really boring until the very end, which will (unless something amazing happens) be Other M vs. Reach.

 

Anyways, here's how it looks now.

 

#1 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 VS. #5 Assassin's Creed 2(or, should I say, AC II)

 

#2 Halo 3: ODST VS. #3 Left 4 Dead 2

 

I foresee one heck of a matchup between MW2 and AC. I also foresee Microsoft's wrecking ball blasting L4D2 on it's way to another championship matchup. Just my predictions.

 

My votes(vote for both matchups, remember):

 

MW2: 1, AC2: 0

ODST: 1, L4D2: 0

Spring of next year looks like it has a lot coming, since most of this christmas's planned releases have been moved to then. (BioShock 2, Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy XIII, Lost Planet 2, M.A.G., and so on)

 

Anyway.

Bioshock 2 is for next spring? I didn't know they had released a timeframe for it. Awesome.

 

And whatever happened to MW2 getting a challenge. This is gonna get worse than the 1st round in a minute.

I get the impression that you're trying to give MW2 the easiest chance at becoming picked for game of the year. The way to have done this would've been to have put MW2 in the same bracket as ODST, because they're both shooters. So far, the matchups have seemed to be pitched in MW2's favor.

Two problems with that. Every year the playoffs are done like this

 

1 vs. 8

2 vs. 7

3 vs. 6

4 vs. 5

 

And then

 

1-8 vs. 4-5

2-7 vs. 3-6

 

and then the championship. The seeds were based on Gamespot rankings. ODST was second behind MW2(and would've been first, but MW2 won the tiebreaker). And so on and so forth. That's the way it was last year, and the year before that, and the way it's always been.

 

ODST simply got the games that were other shooters like it. Not being a shooter doesn't mean it's bad or a pushover. Okami is about the farthest thing from a shooter and it got a higher rating than any games this year(9.5 out of 10).

 

If you want, you can look at the scores too. MW2 has beaten opponents by a combined 14-1, and ODST by a combined 11-2. Neither of them are exactly close calls.

Not quite, Forza Motorsport 3, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Uncharted 2, and the PC version of Dragon Age all got 9.5s.

A few iPhone games did too, but that's just disturbing.

 

I didn't find a way to sort them by user scores, but from what I've seen games usually (but not always) get higher points there.

I'm talking about the ones that did get qualified. The ones that were already in the playoffs.

 

The others didn't receive enough votes to enter the competition in the first place.

Yeah, well, nowhere near as much as ODST. I'll get around to posting the final matchup that everyone saw coming.
