I'm in support of the MU one, because really lots of Bionicle fans have never heard of BZP let alone the EM, so, to quote Dethraid on our BNG forums:

Plus, by the time you release the game 2-3 years minimum, Bionicle will be over and all that will be left (probably) will the hard core Bionicle fans and the EM fans. By that point, you'd expect the hard core Bionicle fans to eventually join the EM since that would be the only outlet of Bionicle.

Why not just make both a MU and an EM? We can have special portals that will take you between worlds.

Although we should make the MU first since that's the real universe.

Besides, I'm already making Mata Nui. I have the basic form and now I'm making the hills, mountains, etc.

Or we could do the MU, Bota Magna, and Bara Magna as separate planets. And only then should we consider the EM.

Personally I agree with you. Making a MMORPG of Aethion sounds a lot more reasonable than one of the canon universe that includes the MU and Spherus Magna, which would probably take years to make and you have to assume too much about a lot of the locations in MU and Spherus Magna that were barely explored.

While Aethion universe, there is more leeway to it and creating our characters in the universe is much easier. Yeah, I admit not that many people know of Aethion universe, but it really would work better as MMORPG than one on the canon universe. And even then, you can pull unfamiliar-ers by cut-scenes and stuff that tells them the basics of universe in interesting and creativity ways.

So yeah, I am in support of any plans to make an Aethion MMORPG.

As much as I love the idea of a BIONICLE MMORPG, regardless of where exactly it's set (though Aethion is, I agree, the perfect setting for an MMORPG), I question the use of B:NG for this, especially when the future of B:NG is still uncertain. It has not been decided whether we're making movies or episodes yet, how many, and which ones. That is a definite problem.

I, for one, shall not continue any work in B:NG until these issues are resolved.

Why are we doing this? BNG is just... The movies. Make a little game, if you must, but don't go overboard.

There is the potential for an RPG in the form of bonesiii and his previous RPG work, but an MMORPG? That's stepping a bit far. I tried that once, it didn't go over too well, owing to the fact it wasn't Bionicle. We decided on a custom story when Bionicle themed flopped.

But I can see a 2D MMO with Isometric pixelized tilesets using a sprite-based MMORPG software designed for Aethion. However, you need dedicated server moderators, coders, map makers, spriters, and a fancy server. I don't have any of those.

Think about it.

If we do both the Aethion will be better made because

I'm in approval with that. True Bionicle lore fans will choose the MU first. But once we get a couple islands done, we could split into teams and do both.

Regardless, I'm probably just going to stick to managing the movies/episodes (whichever we choose). I have other things I'm planning for BZP.
