Parade Possible

Boredom Just as Likely

The normally obscure miner Nuparu has come into the spotlight recently amidst heavy speculation that he may be organizing a parade for Mata Nui’s upcoming Duty Day celebration.

While the modest engineer has so far denied all claims of parade preparation, this has not stopped a swell of rambunctious activity amongst the island’s fun-loving population.  Against the better judgment of most of Mata Nui’s Turaga, several performing acts have already been booked and arrangements for a giant Nuparu-shaped balloon made.

Reactions to the news have been varied.  “I’d like to ride a Gukko bird!” exclaimed impressionable digger Taipu before being reminded of the question.  A noncommittal Toa Kopaka scowled, “I don’t like fun.”

But it is the high-flying folk of Le-Koro who so far have been the potential parade’s strongest supporters.  “Uptree party, downtree trees!” shouted one tree-Matoran who did not fully seem to grasp what a parade was.  Turaga Matau has even allegedly declared the tentative parade date a Le-Koro holiday, perhaps forgetting that Duty Day already exists.

Others have been less Bohemian.  “If there’s a party, it’s going to have to follow all the rules,” said a stern Captain Jaller before being asked what any of those rules were and mysteriously disappearing.  In his absence, Onepu of Onu-Koro stepped up to assure sticklers the island over that every last rule will still be followed.

All attempts by press to ascertain further details from a scheming Nuparu have been thwarted.  In the wake of this newfound celebrity, Turaga Whenua has apparently ordered a special Ussralry contingent for the protection of the inventor from avid reporters and crazed fans alike.  However, Nixie the Astrologer has recently been seen several times in the company of the engineer, reportedly “just on business.”

Even the Toa have begun wondering just what the tight-lipped Nuparu is or isn’t planning.  Toa of Fire Tahu has already taken the day off in order to assist Ta-Koro’s burgeoning hot dog industry, while both Lewa and Pohatu have expressed desires to further their previously unheard-of political campaigns by joining in the festivities.  An exasperated Onua declined to comment.

Whatever the inventor’s verdict, expert party-planners say that it had better come soon.  “We can’t afford another ill-planned parade,” frowned a sober Macku.  “Think of the Fikous.”

She is one among many who have been increasingly distraught over the engineer’s apparent lack of impetus.  Ga-Koronan fishers are unsure whether they will have time to return to port, Onewa has had to postpone a conflicting Koli match, and an irate Hafu remains unsure of what he should carve next.  Turaga Vakama has issued an ultimatum for a decision to be made by Tuesday.

When asked at length if he was even considering marching in the parade himself, a weary Nuparu replied, “I’m an engineer, not a float.”

Just what we all need--a giant Nuparu balloon!  :P

This is after "Staring Contest Continues" confirmed they have no need for hot dogs...  As for the political campaigns, I'm assuming that will be covered in a few new reports.

Another fantastic job, Onuki!

Thanks, Railblazer! :) That's true, we do seem to be getting conflicting messages about the hot dogs... perhaps that will be the subject of the next big reveal!
