  1. Agree wholeheartedly. I mean the technical side of things seemed well done, but the story was just awful-slash-non-existent.
  2. I was traveling in Europe, and it was the Promo CD that came in Nestle cereal. Very well done. Getting back to America and finding a comic with my LEGO magazine sealed the deal. They should be doing a lot in the buildup for BIONICLE to get kids interested in the story -- makes for loyal customers.
  3. Some longer ideas: From Bricks to BIONICLEBIONICLE: The Chronicler ArchivesTales from BIONICLEBIONICLE: A Wall of HistorySecrets of the Great Beings: BIONICLEBIONICLE: The Original SagaThe BIOdomeDigging up the Myth: BIONICLEThe History of BIONICLEThe Legend of Mata Nui: LEGO BIONICLEBIONICLE: The Myth & LegendTrue Heroes: The Legend of BIONICLETrue Toa: The Legend of BIONICLE Very interested to hear more about this! Good luck finding a name!
  4. are you willing to sell me a shirt Already gave it to charity. Maybe just keep an eye on ebay. Moms love to get rid of their kid's old stuff from time to time for cheap.
  5. The new story looks great. They're focusing on clarity, which is a plus -- I don't think there needs to be a ton of new made-up words for it to be interesting. I remember being introduced to the original BIONICLE with a CD-ROM from Nestle cereal. I don't think BIONICLE started out as "complex" as some people would like to believe. There were a TON of made-up words, but already, we have a more detailed backstory, with more complexities than "Makuta was jealous and put Mata Nui to sleep lol, so the Toa need to get masks and wake him." So this new story could very well have a much richer plot, just without so many foreign names and words that would confuse the 7-12 target audience.
  6. I handed in my donation box today! Unfortunately, the place doesn't do receipts anymore (I guess they want you to value it yourselves for tax purposes?), so I don't really know how much they value the stuff at, but for the record I donated: 1) Bionicle Adventures Chapter Books 1-10 (new condition) 2) Bionicle Legends Chapter Books 1-11 (new condition) 3) Bionicle: The Legend Reborn hardcover + bonus DVD (good condition) 4) two Bionicle t-shirts (medium sized, like new -- hardly worn) and ... 5) a silver Kanohi Hau, and map of Mata Nui from the Power Pack. As it turns out, my comics were missing staples (must have taken them out at some point), so I didn't hand those in. But it was still a good variety of stuff! In the end, I really ought to be thanking Torsti, because this pushed me to overcome a little bit more of my OCD. (Parting with this box three years ago would have been out of the question, so I'm grateful I had a reason to do it.) Thanks for the stuff, and as always, I look forward to the next batch!
  7. I'd be happy to donate to a charity for the cause -- although I regularly give to a local charity (that helps feed those in need), and cannot in good faith say I wouldn't already be giving money to them anyway, so ... ... let's make it a theme! Since you've been sharing BIONICLE related things with us, I will be donating some BIONICLE-related things that I have to a local charity that employs those with mental/physical/circumstantial disabilities. I have a box of BIONICLE books. Guidebooks, young readers, chapter books, and comics. (I used to get everything in double, as I have debilitating OCD, and have had them in storage for years, but I suppose progress has to happen sooner or later ...) I also have two BIONICLE t-shirts that are much too small for me that I'm willing to part with. I'll let you know when it's done, and what they value it at on the receipt.
  8. Bionicle World was the absolute best -- I feel like it gave us story, or rather "world-building" elements that we didn't get so much elsewhere. Not a fan of The Official Guide to BIONICLE -- it was essentially the same content you'd get in the LEGO Magazine or out of a Promo CD, but cost money. Then there were ones like the Rahi and Dark Hunters which, while fun in theory, ended up being really shallow and amazingly silly. It felt more like an obligation out of the contest they ran more than anything of substance. The writer probably spent less than a day putting all the stuff together. That said, if they were to continue guide books, I wouldn't mind something along the lines of Makuta's Guide to the Universe. Story, characters, summaries, excerpted content, and original content all mixed together.
  9. I would tend to agree with the general consensus that Tales of the Tohunga is the best handheld title. It's more adventurey than actiony, but it has a good deal of both. I think that collision errors are why people tend to be so hard on it, but if you look at BIONICLE as "wonder fiction," this gives you the most interesting experience for your time. It's also the game engine they developed for a lot of GBA titles -- they went on to create a version of "The Hobbit" for GBA that was pretty okay too. The only other game (at the time) was Matoran Adventures, and it's hard to imagine something more low budget than that. Just awful.
  10. You are fantastic! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all the work you're putting into this. Now I just need that Saffire programmer to find that build of the game he had stored away, and my BIONICLE life will be complete.
  11. I'd certainly be interested in taking a look at the CD contents -- especially when I'm not exactly clear on what the entirety of the binder contains. Mega.co.nz is best for large files like JMMB suggested, but Google Drive can also come in handy if you have a gmail account. [EDIT] And if I'm understanding correctly, you're saying that the vast majority of the contents are pictures, no? Is the synopsis included?
  12. Thanks for the book scans -- it's great that you'd choose to share after all this time. I'm quite interested to see the contents of those CDs too! It's probably just promo disc material, but I'm always interested when stories like this creep up.
  13. Thank you! I also looked through the available English language magazine scans from the link that Toa of the Blazing Inferno posted, and while they don't appear to have either of the scans you posted, they had one more Dark Hunter I didn't recognize. So looks like your gut instinct was right and there is a third!Anyway, on that note, I was able to look through a bunch of the magazines I didn't have. They didn't have Brickmaster, but everything in the regular magazines looked like fluff. If you happen upon something that resembles an actual story or blog or whatever, I'd love to hear about it, but it looks like I'm not missing anything from the regular magazine if the available issues they had were any indication. As far as the Bohrok comic with words, I'd love to see that, but feel free to take your time -- I'm not in a huge rush. I'm just grateful you're helping me out with scans and information! Yup! It's true. Your posts are always good.In the spirit of milking this topic for all it's worth, does anyone still have the back side of the poster that came with the PowerPack? There's an ad for Bionicle.com in the lower right corner that shows the profile of Pohatu, and since I no longer have the original, I can't remember if the text is readable. I'm wondering because comic #2 says to go to Bionicle.com/Pohatu to find out how he got his first Great Mask, and the Wayback Machine never archived that page, and I wonder if the screen grab on the poster has that information.
  14. The files are always up in the "bmp/files" folder of the site in question. That's the URL they directed us to when the site was down. You can click on the "LEGO" folder and you should be able to find the scans from there. Thanks! It's hard to know how accurate the information is from BS01. One of the problems that comes from discussing a "kids" franchise is people spreading misinformation more so than other topics. (If you recall the discussion about the alpha build of "The Legend of Mata Nui" PC game, people made bizarre claims that had no basis, and directly contradicted the emails I got from a few of the developers.) Oooh ... that would be cool, if you have them! I don't want to be a burden, but I thought I'd mention them since you have the magazines, and have proved to be a reliable source of awesomeness in the past (when you started a topic for posting those "Legend of Lewa" comics, I bookmarked your brickshelf account -- it seems I missed a few things, like the 2001 version of the Bohrok comic scans, but the point is you're an authority on this kinda stuff to me).
  15. Thanks for the scans! Most recently, I checked out the two you have up from 2002 -- very nice to see. My subscription had run out at the time, and despite having received Mania for years, I didn't renew until ... well, until just recently. So I was seeing those ones for the first time!On that note, you mentioned you would be open to uploading scans of later magazines. Since you have them all, I was wondering if you could help a severly OCD person (myself) out with a few questions I have been burning to find the answers to:1) BS01 mentions that information reguarding the canceled Bionicle Legends #7 book was released through the LEGO magazine (about "the cord"). Is this true, and is the information substantive?2) I was wondering if you knew if there was any substantive BIONICLE storyline information released through the LEGO magazine from 2002-2008. I'm not talking about the kind of fluff pages you see in the MANIA magazines, but more like the "Tale of the Toa" from the PDF version of the fourth BIONICLE comic.Someone told me that there were bonus profiles of Dark Hunters (not included in the book) released through BrickMaster -- I wish I had scans of those, but such is life. I'm just trying to figure out what I need to track down or if you might be willing to share some scans of things I'm hoping to add to my digital collection.
  16. Yeah, I am rather disappointed that only ONE person bothered to give me a bad rating. I was SURE I'd made a lot more people mad than that ...

  17. Haha! I was wondering why my rating suddenly went up to a whopping three stars.
