Hey BZPower! As a writer, style is very dear to my heart. Another thing dear to my heart is having fun. While I was working on some basic sentence manipulation exercises this evening I had a thought: wouldn't it be cool to see how different people treat the same sentence? Yes, yes it would!

Take the following sentence and modify it stylistically. Yes, feel free to add a bit more detail, but the main focus of this little game is how you manipulate what's already here.

"The shore was quiet and the water was still and a soft light glittered across the black surface."

    GO! What will you do?

"I'm happy to have joined the Mata Nui Weekly team! Interaction's picked up over these last couple of weeks, what with the party and the Piraka attack, and Kentoku is the topic I most reliably follow, so I've picked either the best or the worst time to join, depending on the point of view... Anyway, I look forward to delivering to you the exciting news that will undoubtedly come from the Archipelago in future weeks!" ~Ghosthands

"I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the arc of my flaghsip character, Ferron. Toatapio, Shadowhawk, Alex Turner, Gravity and Kughii. Thanks again to you all and best wishes for the RPG's future." ~Geardirector

"The MNW is proud to welcome Ghosthands aboard our little bobbing vessel in the ocean of information. He'll be responsible for towing the line in the Kentoku Archipelago, which brings a wave of relief as he applies his scientific skills to creating reproducible, highest quality blurbs for the News section. On a personal note I have begun my exodus from this glorious game, but I do plan to stick around until the end of the 2013 arc, possibly carrying one PC into the future. What does this mean for the MNW? At the moment, nothing! You'll still be getting your favorite OOC newsletter delivered to your N&D topic each week." ~Kughii

As Summer approaches and the hold of schools on our players' lives begins to diminish the RPG has seen a rising of the tide. It's rather enjoyable to have some older players like The Doc come back and pull beloved favorites out of the closet for a little dusting off and curb stomping. In the larger scope of things the main plots seem to be moving forward as well: we've got the party happening soon, the Piraka are laying waste to a town, and in the past couple weeks we've even seen the use of antidermis ("supervillain steroids" to quote last week's podcast). Likewise the smaller plots are pushing forward and it's great to watch the events unfold. I really want to give a shout out to Toa Fanixe for his writing for this week. From the 2012 arc to today Fanixe has just exploded in writing style and RP prowess and I almost greedily wait for each Kulrik post.

In all, this has been a good week for the game. We've seen some old faces return, we've had a couple new faces pop by and make profiles, and we've had plots pushing forward.

Now, what's this about the new sections? First is the section you're reading now: Editorials. It doesn't sound like much when it's just me typing away, but Editorials is so much more! Send me a PM with things you're feeling for each week as they pass and I'll put your words in the Weekly. That even counts for THIS WEEK too. How cool is that? Yeah, pretty cool. Maybe I'll even do some form of avant garde collage out of it all, you never know. The second section is Media, which is more or less exactly what that word implies. Any art, podcasts, music, flash photography, or interpretive dances (etc., etc...) related to the BZPRPG with a credible link will be listed in one convenient place. Wondering if Demitsorou has thrown out another little piece of ambrosia to tickle your imagination? Check Media. Looking for Hubert's manly voice? Check Media. Want to see me making unlicensed portraits? Check media.

    Until next week,
    Kughii

I feel like this week has been one of the slower ones that we're unfortunately used to at the moment, things have been set in motion, but there has't been any payoff. Here's to a better next week. ~Geardirector

I really didn't want to put this up in the art forum because, hey, it's really just a sketch (or a dump, whatever you prefer to call it is fine), but I was just doodling around on the Wacom and getting the hang of digital medium art and suddenly realized I'd begun drawing an anatomy concept for matoran in the BZPRPG, where characters are far more organic than in TLG canon. Orange is inorganic components, cyan is eyes, heartlight, and brain; yellow for auditory, and deep blue for organic components. Hopefully in a couple days (more like weeks), I'll have something a little more detailed including possibly an organ sketch, dermal view, and action poses.

The Mata-Nui Weekly Will No Longer Be A Podcast
The Mata-Nui Weekly is needing to evolve and change with the arrival of 2014. I don't have the time anymore to do audio recordings, and the podcast is now going to become a weekly blog post linked to the General Discussion Topic. Dr. O (GearDirector) and I have been talking about where we'd like to take things, and this is what we've decided: it's time for more members, it's time to become more interstitial to the game world, and it's time to lessen the load on each of us. Read on to see how this all rolls out!

We Are Looking For Volunteer Crew
Are you interested in journalism, comedic summations of events, the chance to create a unique character with a functional profession, or helping the game community at large with a fun job? Join the Mata-Nui Weekly Crew and pledge yourself to a wahi! Members of the MNW crew will create a PC character to be the branch head of the newspaper for each wahi/region (you will have free reign to decorate your office). As a player, your job is to interact with inquiring individuals in-game, and submit weekly summaries of the events going on in their wahi/region every Tuesday PST by PM to me, Kughii. Summaries should not be excessively long, but need to have enough detail to explain the events to someone who doesn't have the time to read them. Grammar and spelling are important, but as Editor In Chief I will hopefully catch any mistakes made before publication.

"Moreover, the early constellation of symptoms can have a paucity of findings with unidimensional presentations: the onset of solitary problems such as vertigo, or recurrent upper respiratory tract infections. Over time, as the untreated LD percolates, symptoms accrue to the burgeoning clinical picture until a multisystem presentation is created. Other patients can have their manifold symptoms complex develop in the manner of an avalanche. These patterns represent the extremes of a clinical continuum between which there are many variations on the theme ranging from mild to severe disease. Thus, The failure of a pathognomonic (unique and specific) presentation to consistently unfold causes sufficient clinical confusion, that a punctual diagnosis is problematic. Therefore, a high index of suspicion is placed at a premium. If a clinician can't reconcile preconceived notions about how LD should announce itself with a patient's history and physical findings, it is a disservice to the patient and an abdication of professional imperatives to presumptuously conclude that the symptoms are psychosomatic or that the patient is faking!"

    Clan Info:
Clan Diakura is a minor clan that holds only a tiny amount of land on Odaiba and whose numbers are also few. In spite of this, they can lay claim to a reasonable amount of influence in the archipelago by virtue of their lineage. They are a clan as old as the Odaiba, and can trace their lineage back to Arohi, a hero of legend who helped the first Rora and along with her, established the Dasaka Empire.
Taking after their warrior-mother, the Daikura have devoted themselves to preserving her knowledge of the Menti disciplines and passing the sacred knowledge on to successive generations. It is the Diakura who runs the Arohi School of the Mind on Sado, where all Menti are trained in the psionic disciplines. Throughout history, only two other clans have attempted to begin their own schools in competition with the Daikura, and both attempts quickly went under, with the long experience and strong tradition of the Daikura proving to provide a much superior education.

Since they own no land on Sado (the school itself is a part of the Imperial Palace, and so owned by the Rora, the Daikura, legally, are only custodians), the Daikura must hold lands elsewhere in order to be recognised as a clan. Their holdings are confined to a valley on the lower slopes of Mount Koshiki. It is a fertile area, and its farms produce abundant crops, fertilised by the old volcanic soil. At the head of the valley is Castle Tarakona, built on the spot where, legend has it, Arohi defeated the kanohi dragon that had plagued the early Dasaka. While this is officially the hub of the clan, it has only ceremonial importance in practise, since the most important Daikura live at the school on Sado.

Politically, Clan Diakura is conservative, though not quite as much as their Umbraline associates. They honour the virtue of Power most among the three, as could be expected of those who study the magical disciplines of their race. They have no clan discipline, since they must have members who are masters of each discipline in order to give instruction in them all.

    Tarakona Games:
Every 10 years, Clan Daikura hosts a large group of students from the Arohi School of the Mind on Sado at their ancestral lands on Odaiba. They bring the class of students that is about to graduate and become Menti warriors for their respective clans to Castle Tarakona on the slopes of Mount Koshiki and give them a chance to test their skills in battle on a scale that would be impossible within the normal parameters of school life. The students are divided up into armies, roughly by clan (depending on the numbers of each), and take part in a mock war over the period of a week. Students act as commanders of their peers, learn true battle skills, and have the opportunity to win great honour for their clans. Students who emerge victorious from the exercise often end up in high positions within their clans, and will be remembered for many centuries to come. At the end of the week, the victorious student army may also chose to face a final challenge: a duel against their teachers.

I've begun the task of compiling information on architecture, locales, and information regarding each Wahi of the BZPRPG's 2013 arc with the goal of creating a slew of illustrations serving as maps for the entirety of player locations. This is a monumental task, but I've already made incredible progress with Po-Koro, and will be working on the final map in the next few days for the city of stone. If you have a suggestion for a location to be incorporated, please feel free to leave it in a comment below. As each illustration is completed I will add either a photo or a link (haven't decided yet) on this blog post, along with a quick list of the featured locations and some of the back information that went into the creation. This is a project I've been planning for a very long time – ever since NBZP in 2011 to exact – and I look forward to putting the fantastic communal stories into ink and colors.

    Bionicle Architecture, a Historical Perspective

The hut is the quintessential matoran dwelling. Built of various materials native to each region of the island where matoran settled, huts took the shape of semi-submerged poke-balls, the little button removed for a circular door. Another circle in the roof served as both a window and consistent reason for flooding.

Later, after the fall of the mata and during the 100 years of waiting, they developed a new form of revolutionary architecture: the box. Using a cube as the basic shape of construction, matoran architecture found a revolution in building ideals: windows were now placed on the sides of the home instead of the top, cutting down on flooding but increasing the chance of asphyxiation by the small cooking fires inside. Doors and shutters were rare but not impossible to find.

    Po-Wahi
Po-Wahi has gone through a few radical changes during the course of the RPG, experiencing marked changes in architectural techniques, the destructions of raids and rahkshi, and the building of small centers of trade along the shore, namely Ostia and Forsi. The first project I'm working on is a map of Po-Koro, drawn at an angle and looking down at the city of stone. I'm using a rather piece of paper for this project, since working on a sheet of printer paper wouldn't have allowed me to do an entire Koro justice. Hopefully I have a local printer nearby who'll be willing to scan the image when I'm done. The project's diary is as such:
Tues, Nov. 19, 2013: Mathematical formula for roads and grid lines created. y=1/2"n+1/8", with roads being 1/2" in width and blocks being twice a road. Created a small rough plan to work off of, and have gathered full information for the specific project.
Tues, Nov. 19, 2013: Had to restart the city footprint three times. Eventually I gave up on my formulas and winged it: turns out I do better without the maths.
Tues, Nov. 19, 2013: Canyons drawn in proper scale, along with the through-roads. Erased intersecting lines so blocks and roads are now clear. I decided to leave the four guide lines I constructed for now – I have no doubt they'll be useful when drawing the three dimensional buildings.
Tues, Nov. 19th, 2013: Designing the model concepts for residential and commercial buildings. Studying architectural sources for those buildings.
Wed, Nov. 20th, 2013: Made a small scale color palate test. The product of which may be seen HERE.
Thursday, Nov. 28th, 2013: Two minute sketch-dump for three house styles from across the island.

Thurs, 11/28, 2013: Penciled in the rough features for the Po-Koro Gate.

Hello members of the Kumu Islets expedition plot! I'd like to hear you're ideas for what happened during the time skip as a comment below. I will morph the official outcome of our adventures in this post as our comments grow. Once we've decided, we can get on with the RPing.
    Thanks,
    Kughii

    THE KUMU ISLETS, What Happened
During the events in the lighthouse, the cannibals were finally eradicated by the upper level survivors, despite the attempts at peace talks by the Marines. However, the onu-lesterin who led the marauding group of bottomless stomachs wounded Corporal Mons Shajs with shots from his technologically advanced weapon. Shajs was returned to the Invincible, and seemed to recover quickly from his wounds. Little did he know what was in store.
The refugees led by Gabel began to fight amongst themselves over who could sail back to the mainland first, leading to a large scale elimination of most of the population. In the fighting, Vice-Captain Iraira's old injury flared up and she received a gash to her bad leg. (If you want to receive wounds from combat, this is the time to do it.)
Gabel was KIA, the onu-lesterin was captured and imprisoned on the Infernavika after a successful ambush by members of Lohkar's crew. (The Angler's fate is now up to Ghosthand's: does he live, die, or get sent to prison with the Marines, or something entirely different?)
The lighthouse remained, haunted by the temple squid, as a location marker on the nautical maps made by the dive team. Iraira made plans for the new koro to be erected under Ga-Wahi's protection.
Everyone not dead sailed back to Ga-Koro, where they have since returned to daily activities.
Kavala is in Ga-Koro prison, calling for a trial against his treatment by the explorers.

See the Comments section for the REAL discussion of what's going on, but here's my information up top.

    "IRL is an incredible MMO."

Some people complain about lag, occasional poor visuals (a problem I have with the graphics myself, but in-game items helped), a corrupt currency system, etc... However, my Player Character is absolutely fabulous, thanks to the incredible multi-skill sets and infinite class combo systems.

I'm a warrior specializing in tactics and I've been able to ramp up on feats for sword, dual sword, knives, and spear, learning axes and exotic weapon skills, as well as gardening, sewing, writing, and home ec. Being a bard as a secondary class really helped since I got to learn music beyond simple singing and now have the "composer" specialty class unlocked, as well as "saxophonist."

    What are you?

    Well I'll be a Ga-matoran--

I actually DID come back to the party.

This blog is now reopened with the celebration of my purchase of lifetime premier!!! I look forward to a grand celebration of writing, music, comedy, and general Bionicle artistry. I will attempt to insert purple prose, the moving lines of literature often attributed, as is the case in many old English novels, of causing the reader, a young, quizzical being with a passion for plastic toys, to fall into a brainless stupor and in so doing eliminate my reader base AS OFTEN AS NEEDED. As a blooming writer, my attempts at prose will vary very vivaciously.

As for comments: Please, no discrimination, hate-mail, or general slander. This is a place to savor, critique, and otherwise help improve the fruits of my labor. No writer got better without a stern reader-base.

Thank you, in advance, for your rough appraisals of my works.
