  1. I suppose you could but it's not a character you would be doing a whole lot with. Seems like a waste to make one just for this.
  2. So, anyone got a Ta-koro Investigator character Loren could grab? Figure it will be more fun if I don't have to use an NPC.
  3. Loren- Ta-koro "Sir." The sound caused the new Commander to look up from a never ending stack of paperwork that had become depressingly familiar over the last couple weeks. In the doorway stood one of the Matoran couriers used to send inter-departmental messages. The Guardsman was standing at relaxed attention and the evening pouch was not due for some hours yet. All told it meant that the message was of a medium importance. High enough to get it's own pouch but not so urgent that it would entail the calling out of the RRF. Whatever the case was, it would provide at least a couple minutes relief from the small mountain on his desk. "Guardsman, you have something for me?" "From the office of the Akiri" Came the reply, the courier stepping forward to hand over the parchment in question. Loren took the offered piece of rolled up paper and checked the seal. It was genuine and did not appear to have been tampered with. It was not that he was a suspicious Toa, but it was not unheard of for Mata Nui's criminal underbelly to attempt to interfere with Guard mail. After a while one just got in the habit of checking. A nod sent the courier away to his next assignment, leaving Loren to open the letter with a knife from his desk. Not even mountains of paperwork could make the career Guardsman resort to something of bureaucratic as a letter opener. The contents were simple, bare bones even, and he recognized the handwriting of Jaller's secretary. He was to pick up an Inspector and check out the old smithy. Details on why Jaller wanted him to check it out or what he might find there were not forthcoming. The Toa leaned back and let out a sigh. It might not have been a top priority task but well...his eyes drifted back to the piles of papers on his desk. Piles that he could have sworn were several sheets lower before he started reading. His eyes went to the belted pair of short swords on a nearby peg in the wall. To be honest he was already missing going out on patrol. To be sure, being rewarded with the command of a cadre of Ta-koro's finest after decades of service was a great honor. But sitting around all day waiting for the action had never been hit style. In fact he had often requested extra shifts during his time as a grunt. With a thought he was gone from the chair and at the peg, grabbing the blades that rested there and belting them on. He refrained from teleporting out the nearest window, he had responsibilities now after all, and went for the tried and true door instead. "Jaller has a job for me." He called out to his own paperwork dispenser secretary as he swept past. "Xion will be in charge until I get back." He was gone before the Matoran could protest.
  4. From what I understand that was a one off thing that the staff are probably never going to do again.
  5. There was a very short lived Nuju explanation that involved a memory wiping barrier of gas that surrounded Mata Nui. The Dasaka avoided it because they arrived in a submarine. It got nixed about a day later.
  6. Well at this point I'm mostly just wondering why she helped her crazy Makuta worshiper brother dispose of the body in the first place. And why she thought that sticking it behind an old smithy counted as disposal.
  7. National pride. Good old Metru Nui engineering vs Nynrah and their super fancy tech. Everybody is on a shoestring budget because it's all crowd funded. Thousands of Matoran putting forward their hard earned widgets for their favorite mech team.
  8. I apologize in advance if I make people quit by killing them too much. I can be polite and traumatic at the same time.
  9. It's really not that hard to nerf it, or lay out some basics on how the powers work that prevent them from becoming ridiculously overpowered. For instance, while hard light object are indeed very useful, there are several drawbacks. At least the way I play them. First of all, they need a steady flow of energy to keep them stable. Meaning it's a constant power drain. Also the strength of the construct is dependant on the amount of energy pumped into it. It might be pretty simple to block a blade but the heavier an attack gets the better a solid element looks in comparison. On lasers, simple. Don't make them light speed. They should be fast, yeah. But they don't need to be autohit levels of speed. Light speed movement we have seen all of one time. And even then it was a specialized power. Takanuva was only theorising about doing it and if it is indeed possible it would be a high level technique that would require some sort of sage Toa or one who specialized in it. I'm not trying to force you to include it, nor am I arguing because I specifically want to use that power. It's just that there is space between "Let them do everything they want," and "Ban it for all eternity."
  10. What can I say, we really like breaking stuff via fictional characters. The RPG has multiverse in the title. They probably would know that such is not the norm. And I'm not sure if it would make a difference if they were, considering how often evil characters are made for these games. I really would like an actual explanation for why Light is being banned. If at all possible.
  11. At least five, apparently. Now I have to wonder what it would have been like if I had actually been trying to get kills.
  12. I promise not to kill anybody using their own light.
  13. From what you have there it's going to be a 1v1 fight followed by a 1v1 fight followed by another 1v1 fight, ect. That will kill the game as surely as a bullet. Bionifight had it's fair share of problems but one thing they did get right was the fact that it was a bunch of group fights instead of a collection of one on one affairs. There is no way you are going to be able to get away with a conventional tournament style RPG.
  14. Issuing another Train Heist cycle warning. Anyone else who has not posted had better do it before tomorrow afternoon.
  15. While for some reason I do kind of want to play this I really must repeat that thing we keep saying. It's a tournament game. How are you going to keep up player activity? Also I feel discriminated against! Shunned! Limited! What do have against me playing as a noble Toa of Light?
  16. Your two groups of players almost never meeting is a bad thing. At that point it's almost enforced player spread. Why does the game even need multiple factions anyway? As long as the pirates are not played like Saturday morning cartoon villains I don't see how they would get repetitive. I don't necessarily have a problem with the necromorph idea, being chased by undead tentacle monsters through an asteroid belt sounds at least mildly interesting and Aegis should feel free to add it if he want. But adding in completely new threats because you are worried that people might get bored of the first one means that you need to put a bit more effort into that first group. About the sanbox/linear thing. It's really not that hard. Just give the players some very obvidea goals. Say maybe, we just crash landed on this asteroid, pretty much everything is low and there is a nearby mining outpost. At that point you let the players decide what to do and how to do it. Do they want to head out right away? Do they want to scavange around the crash site first? Or maybe they want head off in some completely different direction for some reason or another. Certainly forcing your players in a certain direction is a bad idea, but having a story driven RPG does not require the GM to do so. He nudges them in the direction of the story and hopefully allow them to effect it as well.
  17. Well part of the reason for the posting cycle is that everything is more or less happening at once. Unless you plan on passing this time around I would suggest you post soon.
  18. While those are certainly good ideas, I would suggest against tossing them all into the same pot, namely this RPG. The sub-forum is not exactly buzzing with players looking for a hot new game. Two playable factions would work if that was the focus of the game. As it is all it would do is split up an already limited player base and keep them too busy squabbling with each other to actually complete some already difficult goals. And that's assuming both factions even get enough players to be called such. The point of the pirates is to provide an active antagonist to keep things moving and provide a sense of danger. If you have Necromorphs chasing people through the asteroid belt those pirates are no longer needed. A setting like this lends itself more toward story than freeform sandbox. Give your players a goal, some antagonistic force try to prevent them from accomplishing that goal, set up a few plot points along the way for them to discover and you have yourself a nice , medium sized RPG. It might not last forever but I can guarantee that your players will have more fond memories of a game that lasted for six months and had an actual end, than they will a game that dragged itself along for nine before dying from a lack of player interest.
  19. While I'm 90% sure that there were originally more people on the train nobody has posted there for a couple days. If nobody speaks up asking for more time I'm going to post tomorrow afternoon.
  20. I would suggest pirates. An internal explosion is far more likely to split the ship in half than it is to bend it into the described shape. Plus it gives the players an actual goal. Gear up, get to the ship, activate the SOS and then survive until help arrives. All before they are hunted down and killed by the hostile ship floating somewhere out there. Actual people out to get the players do much better jobs as antagonists than empty void. Occupation seems like a good idea, although it would be helpful to know what kind of ship Kanatu was. My current guess would be an asteroid miner but I'm not the one making the game.
  21. Well I'm always up for a good space RPG. I do see some spots that raise questions though, so I'll run through them. Some stuff about the asteroid belt first off. You say that the belt is dense enough that one can "gravitate to an asteroid and stand on it." Does that mean that said asteroids have their own gravity? Because that would make said floating chuncks of rock rather gigantic. Also, I guess it's safe to assume that you are using the movie style belt rather than the realistic version right? In any case, on to the Kanatu. The first and most glaringly obvious question. What put a giant hole in what used to be our ship? I'm not seeing anything in there that would have made our characters lose their memories. So most likely we would know about whatever or whoever blasted our ride. Even if none of the PCs were on the bridge at the time they should still have had a vague idea of what was going on. It also seems like you want to discourage people from heading to the ship by saying everything there is broken. Well, I can garuntee you that a lot of the stuff there is going to be in much better condition than anything that was thrown from the ship and slammed into an asteroid. I must congratulate the shipbuilders though. Anyone who can build a ship that let's the crew survive a blow like that deserves praise. I'm surprised the thing is even in one piece. Spacesuits. These things have like, basic maneuvering jets right? Maybe a low powered disk of flight? Because all a Matoran needs to survive in space is an oxygen supply. I feel like they would have a few more bells and whistles than what is on our current suits. Not much to say on the profile, it's all pretty standard. I do like how you restricted it to Matoran though. I feel like it fits.
  22. You are more likely to get a very polite "Shut up and sit down, we will get to it" than a post if you keep spamming the same thing like that.
  23. That gets a bit annoying if you say it too much.
  24. Post for the train guards is up. Sorry for the delay.
