  1. [Notes about his past, of which he is unaware, are placed within brackets.] Lepidus Name: Lepidus Species: De-Matoran Gender: Male Appearance: Lepidus wears a grey powerless Matatu. His torso is black, with a large scar gouged into it; the rest of his body is grey. His eyes are deadened by the things he has seen, and he appears withdrawn and isolated. He is unusually strong for a Matoran, though not exceptionally strong, and he stands slightly taller than the average Matoran. He carries a smaller version of the Warblade. Fighting Style: Lepidus's talent is using multiple tactics simultaneously, especially when taking on large groups. He fights with grim certainty and little care for his own safety; his primary concern is protecting his allies and destroying the enemy. [He is overconfident in battle; he learned to fight as a Toa, and he is unused to the limitations of a Matoran body.] Personality: Lepidus is confused by his location and his lack of memory. His personality is slowly returning to him, however. [before he lost his memory, Lepidus was grim and harsh, and though he desperately wanted acceptance from others, he could not bring himself to make new friends after the loss of his brothers.] History: Lepidus arrived on the shores of Mata Nui in a Toa canister with no memory of his past and no idea why he had traveled here. [Lepidus had once been a Toa of Sonics, and a Toa Hagah. However, at some point in his life, while he was floating at sea in a Toa canister, for unknown reasons the Red Star transformed him back into a Matoran (the reverse of what it did to the Toa Inika later) and robbed him of his memory.] Weakness: Lepidus has a tendency to fight over confidently due to his past training; he can now no longer rely on elemental/mask powers. He also is vulnerable to loud noises as all De-Matoran are.
  2. This ending is too robotic. Hydraxon is a sapient thinking character, not a Bohrok. I think he would face his death with a little more resignation and/or determination, not a mindless attention to duty. I could imagine a Maxilos dying this way, but not Hydraxon. I imagine, though, that as his brain shuts down, he resorts to his most basic element; that of guarding the prisoners. Anything that makes Hydraxon special or sophisticated is gone by that point...he's just a mindless drone who has failed his duty for the last time... Still, I wasn't entirely happy with the ending either. I'll see what I can do about it. Thanks for the comments!
  3. Hydraxon's Demise ****A broken, battered form lay stretched across a sharp rock. The ground shook violently, and the body struck against the rock again and again and again. ****The body belonged to Hydraxon. Two days previously, he had been all powerful; the ruler of his little world. His task was simple; he guarded the Pit. He cared nothing for its inhabitants. He knew with absolute certainty that they must never escape. He was the ultimate jailer, for he could not be bribed, nor threatened, nor pleaded with. He lived for one reason only. ****And now even that had been taken away from him, Takadox thought with a cruel smile. He stepped forward, a wild, almost Rahi-like grin stretching across his twisted face. ****"It's funny, this. I'm standing over you. It feels almost...wrong." He cocked his head, considering the idea. "No. No, actually, it feels great." He spun his daggers, watching them tear through the water. "I've been waiting for this moment for so long..." His eyes gleamed sickeningly. "You see, without that creep Maxilos, you're nothing." ****Hydraxon's eyes began to dim. "No you don't! Don't you dare!" Takadox grabbed his neck and pulled him close. "I. Didn't. Give. You. Permission. To. Die. Understand?" No response. "Looks like we'll have to do this quickly, then." ****With that, Takadox plunged both of his daggers into Hydraxon's shoulders. This elicited a small grunt from the former jailer. "Hah, you like that? Do you enjoy that?" He withdrew his daggers. "Try this." With four quick hacks, Hydraxon's limbs were floating away into the water. The guard moaned again. "Heh. Was that good?" He dropped one of his daggers and wielded the other with two hands. Slowly, deliberately, he pushed it through one of Hydraxon's rapidly darkening eye sockets. The damaged Pit guard no longer even had the strength to grunt. "You're going to die here, alone, and knowing that you failed your mission. Does that make you happy? Eh?" In a burst of rage, Takadox removed Hydraxon's other eye. ****Hydraxon's weakening brain was angry. So very angry. The prisoners must be jailed! The prisoners must be jailed! What was he doing, lying on the ground, waiting while - ****"Goodbye, Hydraxon." Takadox's voice boomed in his audio receptors. NO! THE PRISONERS MUST BE JAILED! THE PRISONERS MUST BE THE PRISONERS MUST THE PRISONERS THE PRISONERS THE PRISONERS THE. And then the being known as Hydraxon was no more. Apologies for the shortness. It's been a long time since I've been into Bionicle, but I felt like writing this very short story. Thoughts?
  4. Thanks for the comment. I'm not really sure what to add, however, to my entry. I of course must flesh out combat, but I'm not sure how to go about that. I could write some prose though, to introduce the story better. Perhaps from Jaller's perspective...
  5. A review would be very helpful to me at this stage, if anyone wants to take the time (My entry can be found at the end of the submissions topic.) I would help you guys, but I've never had an RPG win this contest, so I'm afraid I don't have the experience to properly judge what works and what doesn't.
  6. After the Fall Name temporary. What do you think? Background When times seemed tough, when the Rahi were advancing, when our defenses faltered, the Turaga would tell us a tale of the Toa heroes, who would travel to our island and save us from the hordes the Makuta had launched upon us. Hearing these stories, our proud defenders where energized, and would fight a while longer. We always believed our champions would rescue us.They never did.Years we waited, and still the Toa did not arrive. Even the Turaga began to lose hope. And as our courage faltered, so did our strength. One by one, our villages fell to the Rahi, who grew more powerful as our forces fell. The trees of Le-Wahi could be seen burning from all across the island; no one did not hear the sound as Po-Koro's glorious monuments fell to the ground and turned into dust. When Ga-Koro sunk, the Turaga realized that no hope remained. We survivors retreated to Onu-Koro and sealed the entrances with thick rocks. No one mistook the implications; Makuta's forces were sealed out, but we were sealed in. There was no escaping this stone fortress we had built for ourselves. Now, we eke out an existence beneath the surface. We will survive. But is life worth living without purpose? Gameplay Players play as a Matoran from one of the six villages of Mata-Nui. Each have individual skills and talents. The central idea behind the game is to survive & thrive underground. Periodically, major events will happen such as a Rahi breakthrough or a mine collapsing, to keep interest in the game. This is a game about co-operation and surviving as a team. Locations The entire game takes place in Onu-Koro and Onu-Wahi. There is no escaping the underground catacombs. This is a game where the environment should dynamically change as the Matoran use their various skills to enlarge Onu-Koru. The Ta-Matorans are excellent engineers and can make complex mechanics. The people of Ko-Koro are the great thinkers and philosophers. Onu-Matoran know their way around the best and can dig, as well as being able to see in the dark. Po-Matoran can construct the best structures. Ga-Matoran are good at organizing groups and can swim the best. Le-Matoran can entertain others and plant crops the best. You can also choose a certain job. For example, you could have been a member of the Ta-Koran guard, or a Onu-Koran mining guild. Perhaps you were a great sculptor back in Po-Koro. The Matoran are talented, even if they have no powers or Great Kanohi. You can have up to 3 characters. Rules 1. No godmodding; this means, you play as your character and your character alone. You cannot control other player's characters. You have a limited degree over NPCs, but only limited; you may give them basic actions such as fighting, but nothing else.2. 7. Still no comments on mine? Maybe I need a new idea...
  8. Introduction This entry isn't complete, but as someone suggested the planning topic was the wrong place for reviews, I decided to place this here. I just want feedback, people! Also, this way, if I disappear off the face of the Earth, at least this entry will be here for judging when the time comes. 9. I don't think it will affect much, for this contest at least. It would be difficult to have an RPG where the Red Star is important set underground. It opens possibilites for future one though.Tempted to put some kind of reference to it's true nature in now, just because you said that ;)Edit: Should I allow players to be semi-intelligent Rahi (which will attack the Matoran) as well, or should Rahi be fully GM-controlled.
  10. Hmm, still trying to figure out how I can add potential for interesting events to happen. I don't want it to be that I have to constantly keep the story moving, nor do I want it to be boring and repetitive. How can I put in more room for conflict and such?Edit: Also, should I submit my unfinished RPG to the submissions and edit it from there or wait until it's fully finished?
  11. Thank you for the review!I've seen a lot of authors go through the reviewer's points and refute them, I think that's ridiculously rude; you took time to review for me, so I have no reason to complain.Indents is definitely a must, I will certainly add them in. I'm just trying to figure out how to do them.Brevity is probably my biggest weakness in writing; I wonder if this is a common trait in new writers. I think the easiest way to add length would probably be just to re-write the chapters, as things often feel mashed together if I try to add more detail in the middle.I need to focus more on the characters. I have planned out a lot of their backstory (as well as their fate's) so I'll try to improve on showing that to the reader. I feel my characters have the potential to be interesting, if I can just show who they are. (I find it's a lot harder (although it can be more fun too ) to work with canonical characters; perhaps I'll simply change that in my rewrite!) Spiriah is intentionally boring; that's who he is. (Which probably makes him a bad character and I'll probably remove him.)Yeah, the plot sort of drifted off as it went on and became pretty terrible. I think it'll have to be re-worked or possibly just completely replaced. Plot has never been my strong point, but I think I can do better.Spelling; need to install word processor. Still, had no idea it was that bad That's what you get for rushing writing.Thank you for the review! I can see I have a lot of work to do. I am going to get my thoughts sorted out about this one and then dive back into re-writing. I certainly need a better plan. Possibly I'll write out a story arc.I'll try my best to continue improving. I feel that I've done better than this and can do better, and more importantly, will do better! See you around!
  12. If I remember correctly, ToMN tricked Terridax into thinking the destined Matoran(2004 ones) where to be Toa. Terridax then influneced Lhikan to pick the "wrong" Toa, who where the actual Toa metru. However Vakama and Co where actually meant to be Toa.That make sense?I understand the logic, I just thought I'd read somewhere that it was Mata Nui himself who had convinced Teridax that the wrong Matoran were destined to be Toa Metru. So it was actually ToMN? Well that's a little depressing, kinda ruined the faith I had in him.
  13. Well, it seems that Mata Nui had a hand in ensuring destiny was fulfilled. Didn't he influence Lhikan's choice of Toa Metru? (Or was that the order of Mata Nui? I'm never really sure )
  14. This theory is actually really interesting. Setting aside the question of whether they'd actually hit Nidhiki and assuming they did, what kind of influence could that have had? Is it possible the Nui Stone subconsciously corrupted Nidhiki? Obviously, he wasn't exactly a perfect Toa even before the Tuyet incident, but maybe the Nui Stone caused him to betray his friends.Or, even more interestingly, what if he DID know? What if he had decided not to reveal his powers for as long as possible so he could choose the opportune moment? That could be why he was so angry when he was transformed into not being a Toa; he could no longer use the vast amount of power of the Nui Stone.
  15. I'm not sure how plantlife actually works on Mata Nui, but I'm thinking either lightstones or possibly even some kind of sky light (how deep is Onu-Koro?)PvP actually is a good question. I think the longer time goes on, the more various players will get territorial and such over the few resources there are (and Staff-controlled characters can guide them in this direction). Then, small fights could break out, or even a full scale rebellion/civil war. Matoran probably wouldn't kill each other much, but I can imagine them beating each other up and locking each other in prisons if they had to spend too long in cramped Onu-Koro. Introduction Just some updated thoughts, I'm interested to see if anyone would want to be a staff member. More information on that later on. Background When times seemed tough, when the Rahi were advancing, when our defenses faltered, the Turaga would tell us a tale of the Toa heroes, who would travel to our island and save us from the hordes the Makuta had launched upon us. 16. Yeah, okay. Perhaps players can form groups or just go out on their own. What I meant by combat was that the GM would introduce opponents, and players would RP fighting them, but making yourself able to kill multiple without assistance would be considered a form of godmodding; after all, you're just matoran. The people of Le-Koro are building underground farms here.Definitely need to think out locations. Perhaps Onu-Koro will have districts, but not on the scale of Metru Nui.Thanks for the compliment! It really makes me happy to hear that
  17. Excellent comic. Visuals are obviously amazing but the characters are very endearing too. I know Metahk was designed as a humorous character but it's almost heartbreaking at times how bitter he is, and how little he fits in. Can't wait for more! (One thing: the speech bubbles could be done better; they lack the quality of the artwork. And the spelling + grammar could be improved )
  18. Introduction Hi guys! I'm new to the concept of Bionicle RPGs (and to this forum itself) but I ran a fairly successful RPG on another site a while back. Anyway, I'm considering entering this RPG competition (as if I don't already have enough to do) so I'd like to give you my ideas. I don't have a name for my idea yet, unfortunately. I also need help figuring out how the mechanics of the game will work and how to make sure it is interesting. Background When times seemed tough, when the Rahi were advancing, when our defenses faltered, the Turaga would tell us a tale of the Toa heroes, who would travel to our island and save us from the hordes the Makuta had launched upon us. 19. Those are great points Bonesii. And yeah, I definitely thought about the arrogance factor; the Nuva hadn't fought anything on their level before; they were more adept at fighting hordes of weaker enemies.I suppose that explains it, then.
  20. It would have made more sense if only a combined Nuva/Inika team had been able to defeat the Piraka, perhaps with help from Takanuva...but I suppose they didn't want to re-release sets.
  21. I suppose that makes sense, sort of. But the Nuva had been Toa for 3 years, and the Inika were only recently transformed...it still seems illogical.
  22. GregF stated that the Nuva were more powerful than the Inika...yet they were repeatedly beaten by the Piraka (albeit once with the help of Brutaka), whereas the Inika were at least the Piraka's equals. Is there an explanation for this?
