Someone please carve “#OmegaTahu2015" on the side of the Hype Train.

I'm going to write it in Matoran letters on the Mask of Hype I'm drawing

So how is the hashtag gonna be written in matoran? I demand that come the return that the matoran hashtag symbol is made canon! :P

As for my Bionicle Story (lul), my first ''set" was the Takadox Happy Meal. I had heard fragments of Bionicle through my younger years (i.e. Hordika, Piraka, Glatorian) then one day I saw a Glatorian ad on CN and was amazed, but it quickly slipped out of my mind. Later in 2010 I heard that Bionicle ended and HF took its place so I went with HF. I thought it was OK. I kinda liked 2011, but I LOVED 2012. If I had enough cash I would've bought the whole Breakout Series, I almost did...Later that year I got into Bionicle again and bought sets online. Come Brain Attack I didn't really like HF anymore so I hopped on the Bionicle Bandwagon, hoping for a return. Then just last month the Internet used the Mask of Hype™ on the Bionicle Bandwagon, turning into the no braked, turbo engine boosted hype train it is today, and I quickly joined in.

*Mask of Hype ™ is property of Jakura Nuva

EDIT: Just noticed I ranked up to Turaga. Yay...

@NatoGreavesy doesn't BZP already have one?

    Edit: Ninja'd.

Anyways, I think that TTV already does most anything that BZP would do if it expanded its channel's content.

  3. There is literally not a single socket piece in my collection from the '07-'11 years that isn't either cracked or broken entirely. One of my Pahrak's feet is now cracked too, even though I just bought him new last year. I've actually had one of the CCBS bones and an armor piece break as well. I'm not sure If I sat on it or stepped on it or it just broke, but it it broken...

  4. I agree with JrMasterModelBuilder that if Bionicle is indeed coming back, they should not use comics as a media source. I for one would like to see a TV series, or even a web series. I personally think it should be a weekly TV series (not the entire year's story crammed into 30 minutes), a video game on consoles (breaking away from the TT formula we've been getting almost constantly for the past 10 years), and a point-and-click adventure game on Bionicle.com (a la MNOLG).

I know that some people see this as a reboot, which I think is highly unlikely, but I think they might try to emulate the "mystery" of 2001. That's why nothing official came at Comic-Con-other sets for 2015 were announced, but not Bionicle. In 2001, there was next to nothing advertising Bionicle, even during 2001. There were a few cryptic commercials and the MNOLG, that's it.

Just think about that. It's be cool. You're watching TV and all the sudden you see that classic '01 Bionicle intro used in all the Toa Mata videos. And then Tahu Master Fire comes in, riding on his lavaboard, fire sword held high, then it just cuts off. "Relive the legend at Bionicle.com".

Next to nothing? Back in 2001 there were Toys 'R' Us promotional events, not to mention a TRUCK TOUR. And then the very next year you had a Bohrok ad in Times Square of all places. They included full comic books with the 2001 LEGO Mania Magazines (something that I don't think they had ever done for any other theme), released a music CD, and invested heavily in the website for the theme. Have you ever checked out the Throwbots or Roboriders websites on archive.org? They're pitiful compared to what the BIONICLE website had to offer even in 2001.

The LEGO Group may not have advertised BIONICLE all over the place right away, but they certainly weren't deliberately keeping things low-key. The LEGO Group hardly advertised any of their themes back then to the same degree that they advertise so many of their themes today. I expect to see a considerable promotional push with the new BIONICLE.

Yeah. I was referring too the first half of 2001, before the Toa sets were released. When it was just Rahi and turaga. But after the Toa were released, that was when it all started. My fault for not wording things correctly.

What made Bionicle so great (for me) in it's early years was the mythical and mysterious feeling. You didn't know a lot about the past of the island or it's inhabitants, and the few things you did know were mere tales. It also had this sense of exploration, wich was established with media like the Mata Nui Online Game. You just really enjoyed exploring the island and spending time in that universe.

I think it's possible for a new Bionicle to have a similar mood, especially if it was to return to Spherus Magna. The planet just offers a lot of locations that have not been seen before, or even entirely new ones we haven't even heard of.

Story-wise my prefered way of doing it would be to set it either far into the past or into the future from the current canon. By that time the convuluted factions and canon would have dissolved into mystery for the planet's inhabitants. Though that may be my blantant nostalgia bias for the 'mysterious' early days talking.

I think one should be able to follow the new story without having to read the old stories, but the option is there. i.e. We know that Mata Nui was awakened and defeated the Makuta of Metru Nui (me no likey Teridax), and just leave it at that. But, if one was interested they could read some of the older stuff to see the whole story of Mata Nui's awakening/Makuta's defeat.

Star Wars brings another example of this. We knew that Darth Vader was a Jedi who turned to the Dark Side in the original trilogy, and they just left at that. But (now) if one is interested they can watch the prequels to see the whole story of Anakin's turn to the Dark Side/the rise of the Empire.

@Airoski That combiner idea is genius! I know of someone on a "certain website" (IDK if the restrictions on "broadcast yourself" have changed) who makes Transformers out of Bionicle/HF pieces. He made a really good one with the Brain Attack summer sets, and a while back made one with all the Rahkshi (Stars included). So it can be done.

Just spent a while searching for said MOCs, is this the guy? https://www.youtube.com/user/DrScorpionX/ His stuff is awsome.

No idea what the rules on YouTube are, I've been off-site for too long, can't find anything on the reference desk. YouTube's moderation has come a long way in almost a decade, so I doubt that rule's presently enforced.

Yes, that's who I was talking about.

    Comic-con was today. Any news?

Lego has six display cases (The Hobbit, The Lego Movie, Super Heroes, Mixels and Star Wars) of wich the last one hasn't been revealed yet. As far as I know Lego's conference is on sunday, so I guess we'll find out more in a few days.

Hmmm. Interesting why they'd want to keep one secret...Quite obviously it'd be a new theme...could it be?

  10. If they keep to the original story and make the new Bionicle a continuation of the old, I'm wondering how they're going to handle all of the plot points that were left unfinished when the serials ended. There's a long list of conflicts that need resolving: surviving Skakdi warlords, any remaining Visorak, the Baterra, Marendar, the Element Lords, the Skrall Remnant, the Shadowed One, the remaining Barraki and their respective armies, Velika, and the Golden Being.

There's probably some I've forgotten, but that's still a lot right there.

I'll think that the continuation would be set so far into the future where any preexisting plot holes would no longer be a problem. Perhaps Greg would put something out for the older fans  so they knew how everything was solved.

In all honesty, someone make a cake, now. I'd do it if I could. It should have Tohu-kun's face with "13 years" below it. Surrounding would be the 13 most important Toa. Helryx, Lhikan, Vakama, the Toa Nuva, Takanuva, Matoro, Ignika, and one more...any ideas?

  12. While lots of evidence does stack up, of course we'd have to wait for an official confirmation by TLG. The "2 slots" things seems interesting, so it seems TLG has something to announce at Comic-Con...,Bonkles, perhaps?

    On another note...

    Bionicle returning in 2015

    Pokemon ORAS this year

    5 new Mega Evolutions

    15 divides by 5=3

Half Life 3 confirmed for Winter 2014-Spring 2015

    (just had to do that)

  13. I hope that the new line is Boneheads of Voodoo Island

Nah man, it's gotta be Bionic Recur Unit (see the Faber Files)

or Galidor *gets disowned by entire BZP community*

aaanyways, what if we get a new constraction theme alongside Bionicle's return? Personally I'd like a "mecha" theme, I'd hate to see the new IFB cockpits unused. Heck, bring Exo-Force back while you're at it! (They did say there would be an emphasis on older themes in 2015, right?)

  14. I wholeheartedly agree with all saying that women need more variety in Bionicle. Even though I'm a guy, I firmly believe that women were , for lack of a better word, "underrepresented" in the story.

So anyways, if the Bionicle return were to use lots of CCBS parts, as I'm sure it will, the one thing I'm worried about is aesthetics, how good the sets will look from any angle. Most HF sets I have look very "hollow" from the back. Sure, pieces exist to fix that but they overall contribute to having lots of bulk. The Bionicle pieces weren't very bulky (for the most part), and they were able to accomplish a good aesthetic from all angles.
