  1. He must be saying "We're trapped in a city where the dead walk again!" or something like that.
  2. I'm guessing by the end of this episode, Lewa already lost his mask to Skull Slicer off screen and got taken over by a Skull Spider. That's so like him.
  3. This picks up thousands of years after the original story ended. A new generation of Matoran has been created, with a higher percentage of organic tissue and more complex organs than earlier "builds," save the Ba-Matoran, who have barely changed at all. Think of these modern Matoran as a hybrid of old Matoran and Agori. A group of these went to space, to look for other planets Mata Nui visited before he fell asleep. For reasons we'll get into later on, they crash landed on Nova Orbis, which already had its own natives, fully organic beings like us. Most of these natives tolerate the Matoran, but some of them want these "alien robots" gone. Macku, Taipu and Kopeke are Turaga now. Ahkmou tagged along and eventually becomes a Toa. That's about the gist of it. You can find links to all of the chapters written so far in the opening post. A strong jaw, but not so strong teeth... Heheheheh...
  4. Aaand we're back! http://bzpower.com/story.php?ID=7835 Whoooooo >> http://nickinamerica.deviantart.com/art/Bionicle-Nova-Orbis-Return-of-The-Toa-Miro-Ch-1-550422042 (that's the first chapter of the new story) Feedback, as always, it most appreciated. I know some of you have been waiting to jump back into this for a llllonnng time.
  5. If your ribcage has an enormous gap on each side, please see your doctor. I'm just referring to the way it juts out of the front from the spine. They can only do so much. As for Logan... what would we do without you?
  6. Why is anybody annoyed by the gap in Skull Grinder's armor? If anything, I think sticking it out like they have makes it look more like a REAL ribcage. Anyway... I now have all of the summer sets. I love them. Yes, even Skorpio. And Ekimu is AMAZING.
  7. Okay, here's my challenge to people who manage to get their hands on all five summer wave sets. You get a point for hitting each of these marks. 1. Make a centaur using pieces from all of the Skull villains. 2. You can ONLY use pieces from these sets. nothing else. 3. Incorporate a gear function into at least two of the legs, a kicking action, if you will. Could be front or back. 4.. Find places for all five ribcage pieces (example, two on the bottom part of the torso, one of the humanoid part, and one on each arm, tough any combination is good) 5 (part 1). Incorporate Skull Basher's function on the top half in the form of wings. 5 (part 2). ALSO include a working set of geared arms on top of that to wield weapons. ....yeah. That last one is a doozy. Hit all five marks, though, AND include both of those functions, and you win bonus points. That, and, well, you have an amazing toy on your hands, so GO PLAY WITH IT. I know I'm going to give it a whirl.
  8. The ribcage piece would look great as draping shoulder armor. Looks sort of like the plating a Samurai general would wear.
  9. I don't really dislike Scorpio, but I thought Takadox was a good set, and Vamprah is one of my all-time favorites. Takadox (like all the Barraki) has a unique build, and consistent style - he's hunched, gangling, and thorny. I also liked that he used those neat transparent-blue bones. Vamprah is just so cool, the way his arms fold like bats' wings, and how broad his wingspan is, and how he walks on his elbows (again like a bat)...and I also just happen to love the Phantoka Makuta. Scorpio's got a great torso design (the ribcage, spikes, and legs all add together to look prickly and dangerous), but that style isn't consistent with the tail, or even the hands and face. I'd like to refer you to my post about Skull Scorpio above. On another note, I REALLY wanna see people make some Skull-themed mocs. Like a Skull Centaur or something along the lines of Aanchir's Skull Ripper, using whatever trans pieces they can find to try to set them apart from the others. This is gonna be fun.
  10. NOOOO. What's wrong with youuu? Don't mess with it. You have to keep things exactly the way they are supposed to be. Permanently. ???
  11. I'd like to talk about Skull Scorpio, who I'll be getting along with the others tomorrow, for a bit. Personally, I think he gets a really bad rep. Now, as an undead scorpion creature...yes. He stinks. BUT.... that's not was Lego was going for. From my understanding, Skull Scorpio's backstory goes like this. After Kulta raised Slasher, Basher, and all the Warriors from the grave, he still wanted a few more troops and had a few body parts left over. So he took whatever remains were left laying around from bodies that were otherwise beyond saving and harphazardly slapdashed them together into a shape that kinda sorta looked like a scorpion, glued a clockwork tail on its back, and called it Skull Scorpio. So bam. There you have it. The reason he doesn't REALLY look like a scorpion is because he isn't supposed to. He's just a bunch of humanoid body parts and a mess of other things repurposed in a shape that was never meant to be. And with that in mind... I think he looks GREAT. I think they succeeded with the feel they were going for. He's supposed to be ugly and misshapen, but in a tragic way, like he's horribly deformed. You're supposed to look at him and feel kind of sorry for the guy. I dunno... maybe these kinds of things just click better with me. I still plan to modify his legs like Logan did, though I might keep the tail. http://www.bzpower.com/board/topic/19424-kulta-and-skull-scorpio-mods/
  12. ...All right then. I guess that discussion's already been had.
  13. Oh, sweet Mata Nui... If ever you needed proof of just how inpenetrable the lore of Bionicle is for an outsider to jump into all at once, once need only listen to SFDebris try to sum up the plot of the first two movies in his Web of Shadows review. He does give the world of Bionicle the respect it's due, but dang... hearing it from the mouth of someone with limited familiarity with the line, it's pretty sobering to listen him try to say all of these names right. Even I felt like I was about to go cross eyed.
  14. Perhaps! Ekimu being revived definitely seems like a great avenue for character upgrades next year, since he could potentially forge new masks or maybe even new armor for the Toa. Just like Artakha.
  15. So they DO acknowledge other mask powers as a thing in this universe. Neat.
  16. Thanks, dude. Keep an eye on the front page, tomorrow. Oh, also, "I'm Batmaaaaaaaaaaahhhnn..."
  17. How do I put this... Tahu was the hero were idolized in the beginning. Takua was the "us" of Bionicle. Not necessarily a self-insert, but closer to us because he was small, and thought the Toa were cool.
  18. We were told at NYCC last year that "there are no plans to bring back any more characters [besides the Toa and Makuta] from the classic theme". Which is about as close to "no" as we're likely to get—they'd be crazy to absolutely rule out the possibility. Considering the way Lego themes are planned and developed, "no plans" as of last fall probably means no chance of seeing further legacy characters through 2016, and possibly 2017 as well. As you say, though, analogues or tributes to classic figures aren't an impossibility. The Skull Spiders, after all, fill a role much like the Krana, Kraata, and infected masks in the original theme (not to mention the Visorak). The role of the Protectors is quite similar to the Turaga (minus their role as former Toa), while Ekimu's role is somewhat akin to Artakha or Mata Nui (though substantially different, thanks to not being a giant robot and having a direct, equal, and familial relationship with Makuta). The characters may be different, but that doesn't prevent them from taking inspiration from elements of the classic story. I definitely agree with this. For example, I doubt we'll be getting a new version of Takanuva, and don't particularly want one — I think it'd be hard to keep his story from being too predictable while still staying true to his identity, since he's a character who's defined more by the way his character changes as he learns to be a hero than by some single defining character trait. But that doesn't rule out the possibility of a different seventh Toa or even a Toa of Light in the future! Yeah, Takanuva is the poster child of G1. He was there with us, right from the beginning, as Takua, and he was there at the end, as Takanuva. If he made G1, G2 should have new faces attached to it. I don't quite see Bingzak filling the role he did, but it's a start. I don't see Bingzak in that role either—nor would I expect to. Why is it that every time we see a child villager (which, by the way, can be assumed to be prevalent thanks to the existence of actual children in the new story), does everyone latch onto them as "teh new Takua"? I mean geez, y'all. >shrugs<

  20. Please be sure to post photos of him with the mask on. I'm sure it'll look really cool.
  21. Hello? It's me again. I was wondering if you could clear out your messages a bit? I had something really important to tell you that concerns the return of Nova Orbis.
