  1. That's the same piece Tahu has on his thighs, flipped around so the face is on his back. That's where Ikir, whose chest is the same piece, attaches. Yes, this means he can attach to Umarak, too.
  2. Yeah, that's been bugging me for a long time. Apparently, lego couldn't make trans-orange bones in a third size this year without going out of business, so Tahu's shins are much, MUCH shorter than his thighs. That's going to make for some extremely awkward posing.
  3. Also, here's a coupla' songs I'm contemplating using as themes for some of what's to come, 'cause you see... I've basically run out of Cryoshell songs. So here's two songs from Elysion. The lyrics are pretty clean, and while I wouldn't say the tone fits Bionicle in a general sense, it will fit the next story. This will be Piras' theme, in the upcoming Journey to Caelum arc. And this will be the theme for Return- Part 2. I guess you could say it speaks for the Novus and everyone who feels betrayed by the one who gave them all a dream. I'll find another band for the stories that come after that. Watcha' think?
  4. Okay guys, here's my game plan for the foreseeable future concerning Nova Orbis. Needless to say, I think you all have a vested interest in this. http://nickinamerica.deviantart.com/journal/Future-plans-for-Bionicle-Nova-Orbis-570047416
  5. Keep in mind... this story is only halfway done. That's what part 2 is for, is so we can see the Novus make their inevitable comeback and fulfill the traditional story conventions. I didn't want to have to give that away, but yeah. I don't want to spoil anything big. I'll just say they don't like it. Isn't Miserix dead? Anyway, there will be some G1 character references, but it isn't the time for that yet, you know?
  6. I just thought that was in line with other instances of Toa combining their powers, like Gali and Lewa when they first encountered the Bohrok in Ta-Koro and chased them away by creating a storm.
  7. Some things I've noticed. The back of Tahu's and Umarak's torsos have that same armor piece that Tahu wears on his thighs. So, the bigger figures have one with the top facing backwards, and beasts like Ikir use it as a chest place, facing forward. I can only assume that this is where the connection is made. Heck, on Umarak, you can SEE blue pins (the 3-long kind) sticking out, which can only mean HE'S able to combine with the animals too. So that's his game... he captures them with his bear-traps, then he steals their power by forcing them to join with him. That's all kinds of wrong.
  8. The animals do have functions, they're just very simple. You push a trigger, and the limbs/wings move, sort of like the Bohrok's headbutt.
  9. I do want to get my name out there, but not with this. I have an original property I'll reveal to the world once I've paid for the copyright and trademark. Anyway, glad you enjoyed it. I wanted this chapter to be something special. Nah, Tenius' destiny isn't to become a Toa... yet. Anyway, we'll see what becomes of the Toa Novus down the road. Time will tell. Not for a while, though. On that note, guys... I think it's pretty important that you read this. It concerns the future of Nova Orbis. Well, the immediate future, anyway. http://nickinamerica.deviantart.com/journal/Taking-a-break-from-Nova-Orbis-Here-s-why-569401462 I need this.
  10. I think it's possible that these Toa are the same ones we grew up with, but they were summoned to this alternate reality and reincarnated with new bodies and powers an' whatnot. The presence of the Nuva symbols could be an indicator that some of their old power is bleeding back into them, maybe...?
  11. Chapter 13 is finally online! Click here to read before scrolling down and being spoiled! http://nickinamerica.deviantart.com/art/Bionicle-Nova-Orbis-Return-Chapter-13-569260135 For those who just came back from reading, I've gotta ask... was it worth the wait? This theme is all too fitting for the later battle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxmMnMTQvVs Feedback is always appreciated.
  12. It will be well worth the wait. I've just finished editing the illustrations. There are ten in this one, and I'm pretty happy with how they've turned out. Now I just need 3... four hours, tops, to put it all together. Keep your eyes peeled, because I WILL get this chapter online today.
  13. Nah, this is just the compromise they had to make in order for there to be a space for the creatures to combine with the Toa, like the 08 Matoran, while STILL including a gear function for the Toa themselves. Next year, they'll probably ditch the combiner gimmick and make a hyper-specialized new gearbox like in the old days. I dunno.
  14. Well, I hoped to have this chapter online by today, but... yeah, that's just not gonna happen. Mainly because simply designing something that's going to appear in this one took longer than all of the other illustrations combined. It's gonna be worth it, though. I should have it up by tomorrow. Look forward to it.
  15. Yes, the animals have gear functions. Ikir's wings, for example, flap up and down. They're connected together by these sort of half gear, half axels. As for the Toa, they have a gear function too, where their waist swings from side to side, like Makuta in 2003. And now, the people going on and on about the "Hero Factory torso" can shut up.
  16. Probably, yeah. It may administer some kind of shock, or put them to sleep. Also, Shelek sounds good.
  17. Chapter twelve is online! >> http://nickinamerica.deviantart.com/art/Bionicle-Nova-Orbis-Return-Chapter-12-568301134 Without a doubt, this is the latest in the day I've ever uploaded one of these. A lot of stuff just got in the way today, before I could put it online. Hopefully this won't negatively effect whatever traction it gets in the next day or so. The stage is set. Originally, this chapter and the next were going to be one, but... yeah, no. The battle to come is BIG. So big, that it's going to need an entire chapter dedicated to it. And to think, we're still only at the halfway mark of this part of the story! That's it for today. Feedback is always appreciated.
  18. Yeah, I was always kind of worried that Calor would end up bland, but it turns out simply putting a character through hellish situations and having them come out of it gives them a bit of... texture, shall we say? And Unda... yeah, he's just really paranoid and prone to assuming the worst in people. It's not as simple as him being afraid of girls or having an inferiority complex, it's exactly as Imber said might happen. People might think badly of her for her "motivation," and I guess a six-inch tall Unda standing under the Toa's bench to listen in on them for the other Miro thought exactly that. Anyway, the stage is set in chapter twelve, which will either go up tomorrow or the next day. I'll update you guys as things play out.
  19. Aaaaaaaand Chapter eleven is online! >> http://nickinamerica.deviantart.com/art/Bionicle-Nova-Orbis-Return-Chapter-11-567165321 Here's a preview shot. So... no huge shocker moment in this one, but a lot still happened. We also finally get to know Unda a little bit. Do you guys think he's a sorry excuse for a character, or can you sorta see where he's coming from? Not that it has much to do with anything, but I spent a fair chunk of time listening to this tune as I was putting this piece together. I think it fits some of these scenes, mostly the last one. That's it for today. Next time... things get CRAAAAZY. Like, you have no idea. Feedback is always appreciated.
  20. This concept is right up my alley. I love looking at future evolutions of races we're familiar with, what they retain and what changes they go through. I do find it a little odd, though... the "real" Raskshi are the tiny Kraata. The bodies themselves are just non-living mechanical suits that they pilot, like the power loader from Aliens. So how much of these new Rahkshi are the Kraata, or the bodies?
