  1. RIGHT! There are a surprising amount of theoretical solutions to make this work out! And you’re striking gold again with that last sentence, who better to use an immoral mask than a makuta; the litmus test for immoral kanohi?
  2. Yeah, it makes sense to me that a Makuta would be able to modify itself or the mask to become compatible with one another. As mentioned, with how crazy the Bionicle canon & logic already is, I don’t see how a powerful race of scientists within this wild and wonderful world couldn’t make it happen one way or another.
  3. While I certainly agree, the thing is, these HF helmets would be representative of the actual heads of the characters that masks worn on top of, rather than actual Kanohi. After all, the Barraki didn’t wear masks. so that mixed with their “Adonis” level of beauty, makes it a bit more understandable as to why the visually refined HF masks could fit. I was initially going to try doing this sort of thing with purely Bionicle and technic parts, but never really found anything that came close to the beauty standard described.
  4. And yeh, I believe this is Rothanak’s prototype Ehlek model. I just thought it was fitting given Greg’s mutation clarification on the character.
  5. Agreed! That description is too true XD but it seems to me like Ehlek never was the Greek god type, unless this was their in-universe standard
  6. Also Greg once said that the only things added to Eelhek through mutation were the spines and electro powers. Thus, to me it seems likely he looked like the image attached, despite the description of the Barraki in general.
  7. That’s a very good point. Although, what would fit those kind of characteristics and still feel like Bionicle, does make me less hesitant to accept some of these.
  8. 1) Kalmah -notice how breakout Furno’s head shares an underbite mouth, with a nose ridge just under the eyes. Most noticeably, he has those protruding sideburns whose ridge sweeps back behind the eyes. 2) Pridak -this is perhaps the weakest one, however, it is the only mask I found that compares surprisingly well. Plus, it is stated that Pridak was considered very handsome before his transformation, and by our human standards, this face would certainly fit that within the Bionicle world. 3) Takadox -both have a long back, sweeping crest of head, and a similar overall face shape. The teeth of the bottom jaw even centering with two protrusions, just like that on Takadox. That chiseled jawline though, could potentially lend it to being a fused version of Mantax’s mandibles. 4) Carapar -coincidentally, flipping around the previous mask to Jet Bug’s side we get a surprisingly good fit; From a head that sweeps back, protruding edges running along the side of the face, eyes that are right above the teeth, and exposed teeth from the upper and only jaw. And the cherry on top, both have a pair of ridges that stretch across the back of the head. 5) Mantax -I found the most comparisons for this one, but the two best fits are either the Fire Lord’s head, or Breeze 2.0’s helmet. in the case of Fire Lord, you get more of the bulk, but with breeze, you get more of the refined shaping. Both are great options.
  9. All right chat, am I on something? Recently, I was going through my Bionicle masks, and found a lot of striking similarities between the mutated Barraki heads, and the helmets that would later be featured within Hero Factory.
  10. Good points! This comment^ has helped me see just how tied to the Antidermis a Makuta’s life is. So, to elaborate, almost any other (mask using) Matoran Universe inhabitant may be able to be revived through their body because their body is a part of them, even with their spirit gone. Makuta, however, no longer have this, meaning their shell alone can no longer meet the criteria for “revival” in this manner. (I know this is restating common sense, but for some reason, it just finally clicked with me.) So then, theoretically, there would have to be trace remnants of the antidermis still inside their exoskeleton for it to even be plausible for them to be “revived” by the mask of undeath.
  11. And adding onto this, where Greg is cited speaking against this idea, is him not talking about the mask, but the possibility of whether or not Makuta could be revived in general. Particularly by the red star. Although definitely interesting & worth noting, seeing as he made conflicting posts about it’s plausibility, and as it seems to be an “apples to oranges” comparison between that level of being revived and something like the mask of undeath, I’m gonna say that it’s still technically plausible. After all, the mask of undeath doesn’t truly revive its users, effectively just giving their spirit the time and means to possess their own body to complete a final task (Michael Afton style for you FNAF fans). So from here, here’s a couple of potential ideas on how this could work in universe: 1- It simply works as intended, on all creatures that can wear & use Kanohi (seeing there’s nothing specifically stating that it couldn’t work^) 2- Given how just about anything is possible within Bionicle, (as shown time and time again for better or worse) it’s possible a Makuta could’ve scientifically modified or mutated himself/herself or even the mask in order to become compatible with eachother. Note that the majority of Makuta were scientists of some sort, and have been shown to be well capable of pulling shenanigans at this level, if not greater. (if you need proof, I can generate some.) 3- Kind of a variation of point #2, but some freak accident could’ve resulted in this working, whether it be exposure to energized protodermis, redstar lightning strike (what happened to the Toa Ignika which funny enough, actually turned their masks into organic living things), or something just as, if not more crazy, wild, and unusual. As stated before, with Bionicle of the skies the limit. (heck if I’m not mistaken, I believe we even have an instance of one creature/rahi being transformed into a sapient creature of an already existing species, however I cannot remember the specific instance off the top of my head).)
  12. On the surface, this seemed like a simple question, however, just like much of the Bionicle lore details, there is way too much nuance. So, about a year ago, I made a Makuta character who made it past the destiny war through the use of a mask of undeath. At the time, as I was reading through Biosector01 there was no issue, and it seemed perfectly plausible. Now you can understand my shock and disappointment when I logged back onto Biosector01 recently, only to find the mask of undeath’s entry had changed; now framed against the possible use on Makuta. https://biosector01.com/wiki/Kanohi/Other_Kanohi#Mask_of_Undeath So TLDR, upon further looking into the details, it seems that by what was 100% canonized, there still may be a couple of ways that a makuta successfully using this mask could work. First, we should identify what is strictly canon. Cannon here is anything that Greg himself confirmed during his tenure at LEGO. Next, what is not true canon? Well, that would be any opinions or suggestions voiced by anyone other than Greg himself or the LEGO group. The astute among you can probably see where this is going… So, as of today, the entry reads: “The Mask of Undeath[note 1] is a Kanohi that siphons off a fraction of its user's lifeforce from their body, which it infuses the body with after death. The body is then animated by the lifeforce, and attempts to fulfill the last objective the user had while living. This delays the Red Star's function of reviving the user.[52] If the user's objective is completed before the mask runs out of energy, they will continue living aimlessly until it does run out.[53][54][note 12] The mask gives the user no other special power and will slow down their processing, making it harder for them to fight. While undead, the user will lose all illumination in their eyes, making them empty and black.[8] If the mask is removed, any unused lifeforce within the mask dissipates.[56][note 13] The mask does not work for Makuta after their evolution into a gaseous form.[note 14][note 15] It is unclear whether the Mask of Undeath keeps the user's spirit,[note 16] and therefore whether they can be possessed by a Kanohi Iden user,[80] use their elemental powers,[note 17] or be affected by the Mask of Scavenging.[note 18] Toa would consider this mask power immoral.[1]” So, upon reading the citations supporting the claim that Makuta cannot use the mask, nearly all were clarifications made by Bonesii (the guy who got the mask power canonized in the first place) and Swert (owner of bisector01 and apparently co-creator of the mask). So, some high value opinions, however, with all due respect, seeing as these comments were made well after Greg canonized the power, and as he never went back and confirmed what these two community members said in post, their opinions here cannot be taken at 100% Canon value. Which gives those of us who want to use the mask of undeath (for the totally fitting use) on a Makuta, a loophole! Now, if Greg did go back and confirm this, then I look pretty silly. But from what I can tell, this is simply input tacked on after the fact.
  13. I’ve been recommended to make a new post on the topic, so, that’s what I’ll do. The topic is called “Can Makuta use the mask of Undeath? (TLDR, probably yes)” If you can’t find it, just reply to this and I’ll find a way to send you there.
  14. Ah, good idea. I’m kind of new to this as you can tell 😅 Thanks for the heads up!
  15. Additionally, a Makuta could still potentially be around, but not exactly “alive” through the mask of Undeath. I have a couple ways that this could work, despite what the current version of bio sector says. And there’s a reason I don’t fully trust what the wiki says there either, so, if you’re interested, I’d love to open up that can of worms.
