  1. At the suggestion of Master Inika, I’ve edited another map of the Matoran Universe, this time to depict the known territories of the various canon Makuta. The original suggestion was to do a colour-coded map, but that ended up looking very cluttered, so I decided to go for a simpler style. According to Greg Farshtey, there were once 100 Makuta, and only a handful of them are covered by canon. Even so, based on the amount of territory controlled by the Makuta we do know of, it seems like a lot of the unknown Makuta probably didn’t have regions, or controlled islands so minor they weren’t even worth putting on the map. Starting from the top, our main man Teridax was the assigned Makuta of Metru Nui, while the Brotherhood’s alleged best fighter, Icarax, took over Karzahni. Krika was originally assigned to the north part of the northern continent, and later expanded his territory to include Zakaz after Spiriah’s fall from grace. Sharing the Northern Continent was Gorast, who is specified to have ruled the lower region known as the Tren Krom peninsula. Based on this division, it seems like at least one more Makuta must have had a claim to part of the Northern Continent. Tridax ruled Nynrah, biker bro Antroz ruled Xia, and Vamprah was responsible for Odina (I guess he sucked at his job, since he clearly never did anything about the Dark Hunters). I feel like Greg only vaguely glanced at the map when he decided on Chirox’s territory, since his region includes two completely disconnected islands that are nowhere near each other (one in the hand, one in the leg). He controls Keetongu’s and Tobduk’s homelands (the latter being better known by its current name, Visorak). (I realised after posting that I'd also made a mistake here myself, drawing a line to the wrong island). Chirox-but-with-a-better-colourscheme Mutran controlled the “central part of the Southern Continent”, which is probably intended to refer to Voya Nui. Prior to being deposed, Miserix was the Makuta of Destral. As far as we know, no other Makuta formally claimed that title after Miserix was imprisoned. Bitil is said to have controlled the west chain of the southern islands. However, the map claims that no one has explored further than Artidax, so Bitil’s territory likely ends there. It’s worth noting here that while Spiriah was formerly the Makuta of Zakaz, some pages on BS01 say that he also controlled Artidax. However, there seems to be no citation for this, and since he’s in exile I’ve left him off the map entirely. Finally, a couple of Makuta we don’t have canon appearances for: Kojol was the Makuta of Artakha, prior to raiding the place and getting assassinated by the Order Of Mata Nui, while the Makuta of Stelt is exactly what it says on the tin. This leaves a number of locations unclaimed. Given the way most territories have been divided up, there would have been at least one more Makuta for the Northern continent, and potentially two or three more dividing up the Southern. The large island above Keetongu’s homeland may have had a Makuta (unless it was also included in Chirox’s territory). The small island between Nynrah and Odina could also have had a Makuta (unless it fell into Tridax or Vamprah’s territories). The two islands up near Stelt and Xia (Nocturn’s homeland?) would have likely had at least one Makuta assigned to them, possibly two. I’m less sure about the other side of the map, since we have no information to confirm if the Makuta had any major presence at all in that entire arm. There are also a whole bunch of other islands out there that don’t appear on the map but are mentioned in-story, some of which would have likely had Makuta overseers as well. Let me know if there's anything I've missed, or if you have any suggestions. I'd also love to hear if anyone's assigned territories to their own fanon Makuta.
  2. Story 1, chapter 1: The Mysterious Hero In the desert of Bara Magna, on a cold winter night, an insect was on the move. Feeling for heat it scurried across the desert. It felt a warmth coming from the north. As it hurried towards the warmth it saw a light which attracted the creature. It picked up speed and came to a large crater. In the middle of the crater lay a mask glowing brightly. Too bright to make out any details. The creature stopped and watched. The mask began to levitate and sand began to move, forming a tiny tornado of sand. It began to form a body. As the body solidified the light grew brighter until a giant flash occurred. And then before the creature was a body of gold and yellow. The figure looked around, confused. Unsure of where it was. And yet, calm. “Where am I?” the figure exclaimed. He began to look around more frantically. “How did I get here” he said as he began to breath more heavily. “Who am I?” it said one last time before beginning to pace on the spot. As he probed his mind, he saw flashes of a red light with a deep voice announcing “I banish you!”. “Banish?” he thought to himself with a sense of fear. He began to calm down again. Having a fraction of an answer was enough for the time being. He had no name for himself, no memory. And yet he was there. The insect had been quietly watching him during all this. He eyed up the creature and suddenly had an urge to pick it up. His only friend in this world that he didn't understand. The critter quickly ran up to his ear and started making a clicking noise. And all of a sudden he felt comfortable and relaxed. “Click, shall I call you?” he said to it. It clicked once again. He interpreted that for a yes. “So then Click, why do you take a liking to me?” he said knowing he wouldn't get an intelligible response. “Well I guess there's more important questions such as where exactly I am” he said to himself. And then in the distance he saw what may have been his answer. A vehicle was coming in, fast, with a red figure piloting it. As it dashed through the ocean of sand the golden figure waited patiently in full confidence he would receive a warm welcome. Clicked moved itself to the mysterious figure's back out of fear. It arrived just in front of him and the red figure piloting it pulled out his sword and exclaimed “Your name!”. The golden figure looked at him perplexed for he had no answer. “Your name, now!” his captor repeated again but this time raising his voice ever so slightly. “I... I don't know” he replied. “Don't know?” the Glatorian replied with a slightly aggressive tone of voice. “Very funny, but that kind of disrespect gets you no where on this world.” He drew out a pair of cuffs and cuffed the confused person and then led him into the passenger seat of his vehicle. The strange figure sat there perplexed and shocked. He didn't know who he was but he expected a much better welcome than this. The vehicle began to move. He looked behind him at the engine of the vehicle and noticed something. A small plaque with the words “Property Of Ackar” written on it. “Ackar?” he said to the angry looking fighter. “Your name is Ackar” he said much to Ackar's displeasure. Ackar responded with “You can play this game all night for all I care but it won't get you out of here. You know full well what my name is and every other Glatorian across this planet”. “Glatorian?” he replied. Ackar started to glare and said in a harsh tone “From here on out you will not speak unless spoken to, and if you don't follow that rule you will only make things worse for yourself”. They arrived at the fire village of Ta-Magna with its ever present volcano in the skyline. Ackar took him to a barracks with a small cell. And in the barracks was a blue figure looking at him with a mix of curiosity and suspicion. “Who's this?” she asked Ackar. “Kiina, I want you to meet our first suspect with no name”. “No name?” Kiina replied. Ackar guided him into the cell before shutting it and saying “Yes, he says he can't remember it and we're going to keep him here until he starts giving honest answers to our questions.” Ackar then turned to Kiina and said “You and Gresh are to keep watch of him while I go out to fight Strakk.” Kiina gave a determined look and said “On it. I'll inform Gresh once he gets back from cleaning the carrier.” Ackar left the barracks. Kiina turned to the cell and said “Alright, what's your game?”. The prisoner responded with “I have no knowledge of this game you speak of. I was just standing in the desert and now I've been transported here.” Kiina gave him a glare and said “Sure, just standing in the desert in the middle of a crater.” At that moment Gresh entered the barracks and said “I'm back!” He turned to see they had a new captive. He turned to Kiina and said “Who's this?” Kiina responded with “He apparently doesn't know.” “Doesn't know?” Gresh replied. The glatorian of Le-Magna approached the cell. “Can I get your name?” He asked. The mysterious yellow figure responded with a rising frustration in his voice “I don't know! I am telling you I have no idea how I got here! Now let me out!” Kiina chuckled and said “now you're just making yourself look more suspicious.” But during the pestering from the two glatorian he felt something moving on his back. It was Click and he was crawling towards his hand. When it reached his palm a blinding flash of light filled the barracks and a large shield of purple and platinum had emerged. It was heavy and strong. The now frustrated stranger rammed the shield into the cell door causing the door to fall on to the floor. Gresh and Kiina drew their weapons in preparation for a confrontation. The atmosphere was tense. Each of them waiting for the first strike. The glatorian knew this was not the average criminal. He slowly shifted toward the door way keeping his eyes on his two captors. Neither of them was prepared to strike. The former captive then bolted out of the doorway and toward the arena. The glatorian quickly ran after him. “HALT!” Gresh called after the fugitive. But he kept running until he was in the arena and was able to witness the battle between Ackar and Strakk. Ackar was failing. His sword swings were slow and dispassionate while Strakk was quick with his axe. He held the axe in a hook like position and then yanked Ackar's shield out of his hand. The runaway prisoner called out “Surely that is against the rules?” The crowd looked down at him with a mix of curiosity and displeasure that he had called them out. Ackar looked it at him with an intense hatred as Kiina and Gresh were close behind him. They leaped to grab him. But at that same moment Strakk was raising his axe to strike at Ackar's chest. The hated yellow figure then leaped in between the two with his shield held up. Strakk striked. As the cheating Glatorian opened his eyes expecting the ultimate victory, he saw his axe had instead striked the purple core of a large platinum shield. The mysterious figure then grabbed Ackar's sword and used it to cut the back of Strakk's hand. He dropped the axe out of shock alone. The stranger then rammed his shield directly into Strakk and sent him flying to the ground. Strakk was humiliated. The golden fugitive then presented his hand to Ackar who was lying on the floor. The look of shock filled the stadium in perfect unison like a synchronised dance. “I don't know what kind of world I'm on but I refuse to accept one where that kind of conduct is permitted” Ackar slowly raised out his hand to the person he had antagonised so much earlier that same evening. He slowly opened his mouth and said “Th...thank you... I.. I suppose you're free to go” he said with a stutter. The former fugitive turned around to walk away from the scene until Ackar grabbed him by the shoulder and said “Listen, we should probably get to know each other better. But before that I do want a name out of you. Can you not think of anything which might be your name?” The golden hero then probed his mind as deeply as possible and came out with “Ma... Matan. I think that might be my name” Ackar replied with “Then Matan it is. It's nice to meet you Matan. Please excuse the earlier transgressions” he said with a mixture of relief and defeat. They returned to the Barracks and sat down for a talk. “So you don't remember anything?” Gresh said in a more understanding tone. “That's correct.” He replied. “Yet you have this strange ability to terraform creatures and perhaps objects.” Kiina interjected. “Whoever you are, you must be important to have been given that type of power.”Ackar said. Matan placed his face in hands and said “I just remember the words “I banish you” being said to me” Gresh stood up and said “The colours, the desert. Po-Magna! He must be from Po-Magna! They've been falling to the Makuta empire as of late!” Matan heard that word and suddenly saw a red light in his mind. Two glowing red eyes looking at him with contempt and those same words “I banish you”. “Makuta!” he blurted out. “I recognise that word. It's... not good, is it not?” Kiina looked to her fellow glatorian with a look of unease and said “no... it's not.” Ackar then said “I think we should take you home or whatever parts of it are still accessible. We'll ask the turaga there what they know about you” He felt comfort at hearing the word “turaga” and said, let's do that. They all got on board the carrier which brought Matan to the barracks and Kiina said “but during the journey we'll have to explain to you who we are and what our situation is.” End of chapter 1
  3. Hello everyone, I would like to show you guys my latest Bionicle moc. This time it’s a Makuta, his name is Udraxur (pronounced as U-drax-er). Udraxur holding corrupted Ignika in his hand. Without wings. Folded wings. Spread wings. Other angles from the first render. Note: I don’t have any backstory or lore for him yet so I’m sorry about that.
  4. I posted this on the TTV Message Boards. Thought the folks here would find this interesting. I am a relatively new fan lore-wise, so I’ve been reading the books for the first time. Some of my favorite characters are the Rahaga. Something about them that I don’t see many people talk about is the significance of their mission after they steal the Mask of Light. Makuta’s original job was to create and look after the rahi of the universe, but he abandoned that in order to pursue more tyrannical goals. In doing so he cast his body guards, the Toa Hagah, aside, probably thinking that they were not worth much. On top of that, he relied heavily on the Visorak for his army. The Visorak are Rahi, but I get the impression that they are an aggressive and invasive species. So Makuta is favoring a single rahi species at the expense of every other, all in the name of conquest. The Rahaga saw the wrath of the Visorak first hand, so they know what kind of damage they can do. What I love is that the Rahaga decide that if Makuta is going to abandon his duty as protector of the rahi, they’ll do his job and they’ll do it better! The Rahaga then proceed to document every single rahi in existence and rescue a huge number of them! TLDR: The Rahaga decided that if their old boss Terry was going to be a bad zookeeper, then they would spite him by becoming the best darn zookeepers that ever existed!! What do you guys think?
  5. Flickr "Weak? Stronger, I say, for I resisted the temptations you could not." My take on the white alternate-universe version of Makuta for BBC Contest 78. One of the few interesting details that I enjoyed out of the serials otherwise ranging from forgettable to dreadful was the idea of an alternate good-aligned Makuta, and the ultimately canon depiction of him by BZP's own ToM Dracone was the best design there ever was out of the canonized MOCs. Given those, it seemed fitting to make him for the contest, as both standout moments for the story and BZP itself. Naturally, the build is based heavily on both the classic canonized version of him as well as the original Makuta set.
  6. This year, 2010, is the 10th anniversary of Bionicle’s 2010 storyline, the final storyline with Lego sets. It is about Mata Nui and Makuta Teridax using giant robot bodies to fight each other for the fate of Bara Magna while characters from past storylines or their counterparts participate and fight each other to help them. It’s because Mata Nui has to reform Spherus Magna, which was destroyed long ago and it is the primary purpose for Bionicle 2001-2010’s story, but Teridax is getting in his way. I know that Bionicle is not here, even that Faber was talking about it nowadays, but let’s be happy for Bionicle for something else. Think of the positives. I would love to have us celebrate this storyline’s 10th anniversary when I explain what it is about. First, let me say why the storyline happened. It happened when in late November 2009, Lego announced that Bionicle is going to be cancelled in early 2010 “for the foreseeable future”. That was emotionally devastating. We all went crazy about it. Originally, Bionicle was going to have more years to come, but this happened (well, we did get a script for the cancelled fifth Bionicle movie). In early 2010, we only got six small sets that have the Agori build in 2009 storyline. That was plain silly. It was very depressing for what happened, but it happened unbelievably. Bionicle got cancelled for the first time in 2010. Anyway, here’s what the storyline is about: It takes place after the 2009 storyline, when Mata Nui, who was exiled by Makuta Teridax in the 2008 storyline, was using a coin found by Berix in a hidden lab owned by the Great Beings long ago as a map to find something that could help him get the Matoran Universe back from Teridax. He was going with his friends, Ackar, Kiina, Gresh, and Berix, to go there, but a bunch of Skrall attacked the group and injured Berix, so Mata Nui decided to tell his friends to stay in the Mega-Village for their own sake. Mata Nui went alone, but he had Click coming along because Cluck can turn into a shield. The coin led Mata Nui to the Valley of the Maze, which is something that his friends, Tarduk and Crotesius, had been talking about (referencing the 2009 storyline’s podcast serial called Riddle of the Great Beings, where Tarduk couldn’t finish his quest to go to the Maze). Crotesius took Mata Nui to the Maze. Mata Nui went inside the maze, which inspired the symbol for the Skrall’s tribe called the Rock Tribe. He had to survive traps in there. When he got to the center of the maze, he found Tarduk. Both of them survived a deadly fake volcano. Mata Nui found a room in the volcano. When he accidentally activated a screen in there, it reminded him of his origins: About 100,000 years ago, people noticed the Energized Protodermis in Spherus Magna’s core. They had a war called the Core War over it, but this caused the substance to destroy the planet by splitting it into three pieces, Bara Magna, which is the desert planet, the main part of it, and its people were suffering in there, Aqua Magna, the water moon, which is where Mata Nui’s Great Spirit Robot body (the 40-million-foot-tall robot with god-like powers, the Matoran Universe inside it, and Makuta controlling it to do tyranny) is, and Bota Magna, the jungle moon. That’s called the Shattering, and this inspired the Three Virtues symbol in the Matoran Universe. People from Bara Magna hated the Great Beings for the Shattering. The Great Beings created Mata Nui and the Great Spirit Robot before SM was destroyed, and they did it to heal the planet. Before Mara Nui was created, there was a prototype of him being tested out, but something went wrong with it, so it exploded into many giant pieces, even though that Bara Magna’s people use the pieces to make their villages and then put them together to form the Mega-Village because of their unity in the end of the 2009 storyline. Mata Nui had to study many worlds in the galactic universe, which is required for him to heal the planet, so no one can make the same mistake again. About 1,001 years ago, when Mata Nui was done learning, he was ready to go to Bara Magna and glue the three pieces back into Spherus Magna, but Makuta caused the Great Cataclysm in the 2004 storyline, which stopped Mata Nui by putting in a come, and then Mata Nui crashed landed onto Aqua Magna. This caused all other storylines to happen in the first place, and made him forget about his mission. When the Toa Nuva woke him up in the 2008 storyline, Mata Nui was going to recover his lost memories, but Teridax took over the Great Spirit Robot and banished Mata Nui. Mata Nui landed on Bara Magna, which was his intended destination, but in a wrong way. Mata Nui needed his original body back or something similar to it, like the prototype robot, to restore the planet, he discovered something else. He learned that the Great Beings wanted to build another Mata Nui robot required for the mission, but they had the time because the Shattering happened. After learning about all of this, Mata Nui felt hopeless because he wanted to help Bara Magna’s people heal their planet, and the prototype robot was useless because it didn’t have a power source anymore. However, when he told Tarduk about his origins and impossible mission, Tarduk helped Mata Nui by finding a power source in the volcano for the prototype. Mata Nui and Tarduk came back to the Mega-Village with the power source, which is a cube containing a lot of power. Mata Nui told Raanu, who is the leader of the village’s people, about what he had learned and wanted to ask his permission to use the prototype to do his mission. Raanu and Mata Nui’s gang were surprised at first and Raanu was too reluctant to let Mata Nui use the prototype because they couldn’t believe Mata Nui’s story and the prototype made up the people’s new home, but this reminded him of a time when he noticed the Great Beings building the Great Spirit Robot while working for them, everyone wants the planet to be prosperous again, people respects Mata Nui for his heroism in the 2009 storyline, and Raanu would lose his honor, so he let Mata Nui use the prototype. Mata Nui also warned the people that he sensed that Teridax is coming and will use the Great Spirit Robot to destroy them. The Great Beings originally planned for Teridax to use the Robot and Mata Nui to use the prototype, so they can restore the planet, but Teridax didn’t know about this and only cared about tyranny. Teridax finished crushing the rebellion in the Great Spirit Robot, and then he sensed Mata Nui is still alive and worries that Mata Nui could try to find a way to defeat him, so he flew from Aqua Magna and was heading toward Bara Magna. He planned to use the Robot to take over the galactic universe, and he will use Bara Magna as a base of operations once he destroyed Mata Nui. Along the way, a creature in the Robot called Tren Krom gave a message to the Mask of Life, which Mata Nui’s spirit is in, in hopes of defeating Teridax. The rebellion couldn’t find a way to defeat Teridax. He allied with a blue Skakdi warlord named Nektann, who has water powers, and his Skakdi army, and he promised Nektann that he will give Nektann a place to conquer. Teridax formed an army of Rahkshi, most of them are Rahkshi of Heat Vision, which are yellow Rahkshi that use heat vision. After Raanu ordered his people to evacuate the Mega-Village, Mata Nui went to the prototype’s giant head. He still promised Kiina that he will find a new prosperous world for Kiina to live in, and Mata Nui was grateful that he learned about friendship and being a normal person when he arrived in Bara Magna, despite his rough experience with being a normal person, something he wouldn’t do when he was a giant robot. After Kiina left with Click for Click’s own protection, despite Kiina’s dislike on insects, Mata Nui inserted the power source into the prototype, so it could activate the prototype. Mata Nui removed the Mask of Life from his 7-foot-tall body, which caused his body to become sand again. He willed his spirit into the prototype, so he could control the prototype, like how he used to control the Great Spirit Robot. The prototype rose from the ground, and Mata Nui became extremely powerful again. He used the robot’s gravity powers to try to pull the moon back to Bara Magna, but Teridax’s arrival in Bara Magna interrupted the process. Mata Nui, instead of showing his anger to Teridax for overthrowing him, told him about their mission to restore Spherus Magna, but Teridax asked Mata Nui to join him in his conquest to take over the galactic universe. When Mata Nui declined, Teridax decided to fight and destroy him to get him out of the way, so an extremely huge battle began. However, the prototype is two-thirds the Great Spirit Robot’s size (around 27 million feet tall), weaker, and the power source is unstable, which caused Mata Nui to have some time to be able to use the prototype, so Mata Nui was kind of losing. His Glatorian friends were worried about him, so Ackar, Kiina, and Gresh came up with a plan. Ackar, Kiina, and their fellow Glatorian went to distract Teridax while Gresh, who wears new armor and uses two new blades that can use his air powers, find to get inside Teridax’s robot. The Glatorian’s Thornax Launchers couldn’t damage the robot because its shell is extremely super-tough. Teridax noticed this, so he unleashed his Rahkshi and Skakdi forces through a hatch on the robot’s foot onto the Glatorian when Gresh found the hatch. When Gresh noticed more people coming out, he attacked, but Takanuva and Tahu stopped him. They discovered that they are working on the same side for Mata Nui. The Toa told Gresh that it’s too dangerous to get inside the robot. Gresh decided to team up with them. The Mask of Life put Tahu in an illusion because the Mask got the message from Tren Krom. The message stated that Tahu must wear a magical set of armor called the Golden Armor that can be used to defeat Teridax. The Mask devolved Tahu from his Nuva form back to his original Mata form in 2001, even though that he keeps his Adaptive Armor. Tahu didn’t like that, but the Mask said that he needs his Mata form to wear the Golden Armor. After the illusion ended, the Mask used some sand to make the armor. It came in six pieces, one for a Kanohi Hau, one for chest armor, left shoulder armor, right shoulder armor, sword pummel, and shield. Tahu was going to get the armor, but Teridax noticed and blasted at the armor, scattering the pieces. A bunch of green-armored Skrall, led by Stronius, joined the fight to help the Matoran Universe villains fight the Glatorian while good-hearted people from the Matoran Universe also joined the fight against Teridax’s forces. Gresh got two pieces of the armor after defeating some Skrall who had one of the pieces. Takanuva, who changed his colors from gold to silver to avoid getting attention, was having a hard time fighting the Rahkshi of Heat Vision because they wore modified to wear thicker armor that is immune to elemental Light attacks. However, Takanuva defeated some Rahkshi that had one of the pieces, and he got two. Tahu fought and defeated Nektann to get a piece, and then Tahu got two, too. During Mata Nui’s and Teridax’s side of the fight, Teridax kept beating up MN, and then, when Mata Nui proved to be a nuisance to Teridax, Teridax was preparing to create a gravity blast that can destroy Bara Magna in one shot while saying that he claimed Bara Magna to be his. Mata Nui, who was trying to tell Makuta to stop this madness, but Teridax didn’t listen, stopped Teridax by redirecting the gravity blast to the moons, causing the moons to go back to Bara Magna. Meanwhile, Takanuva and Gresh gave Tahu the rest of the armor, so Tahu can have the whole set. Tahu put it on while the villains are coming to get the heroes. Tahu activated the armor’s power, which destroyed the whole Rahkshi army in one blast. That gave him the Rahkshi’s powers. When Teridax was trying to stomp on people, he stopped and the destruction of his Rahkshi army caught his attention because destroying the Rahkshi weakened him. When Mata Nui noticed a fragment of Aqua Magna heading towards Makuta, he took an advantage of this, as he pushed Teridax to the fragment’s direction. The fragment smashed the Great Spirit Robot’s head, destroying the Core Processor and Teridax inside, ending Teridax’s tyranny for good. The moons merged with the planet to become whole again, as they became Spherus Magna again finally. Mata Nui felt bad for Teridax because he wished that they could have worked together to accomplish their mission, but Teridax was a selfish tyrant, and Mata Nui had to destroy him for everyone’s good and Bara Magna’s sake. The Matoran Universe became uninhabitable because of the Great Spirit Robot’s destruction, so its inhabitants moved out and went to Spherus Magna. Mata Nui finished his job by using the last speck of the prototype robot’s energy and the Mask of Life’s power to make the planet flourish with planet to have it prosperous again, like it was before the Shattering. Everyone, both MU and SM people, were happy, and Kiina was happy that Mata Nui gave her a tolerable world to live in by bringing back Spherus Magna. Good-hearted people arrested their evil enemies, but some of the villains escaped into the wilderness. MU people who got mutated were changed back to their original selves by the mask’s power, even though that the underwater ones can breathe both air and underwater. The usage caused the prototype to be disintegrated. Everyone was worried, so they rushed to the robot. However, when Ackar and Kiina found the mask, which didn’t alter them when they touched it this time for some reason, Mata Nui revealed that he retreated into the Mask to survive the robot’s destruction. Tahu asked Mata Nui to lead people, but Mata Nui decided not to because he wants them to live their lives themselves without needing a leader or ruler to guide them, because of his experiences in his life. However, he told his friends that they have to find the Great Beings for him because the GBs left the planet when it was destroyed, and he wishes to see them and let them know about the planet being reformed. He then started sleeping, but in the healthy way this time rather the coma that Teridax caused in the 2004 storyline. Tahu agreed with Mata Nui, so he told everyone to have good and peaceful lives while people from both the MU and SM live together because their big adventures are finally over since the planet is restored. The End in that way. The G1 story actually still doesn’t have an ending, so it continued, though. That’s the story. Now for the sets: Basically, there are six small sets in smaller canisters than the medium sets’ from G1’s previous years. They are called Bionicle Stars, or just Stars. Each of them have the Agori building style in 2009, but with some new pieces and colors. They are ridiculously short, but they do make us look like giant robots to them. Lol. Plus, each of them are based on a character from one of the previous years. The sets are Tahu, Takanuva, Gresh, Piraka, Rahkshi, and Skrall. No more than that, ridiculously. Each set has a piece of the Golden Armor, and once you collected all six, you can put them on Tahu, so he can wear the armor completely. Tahu looks like his Mata self in 2001, beside from some differences because of the Adaptive Armor. His Hau has a plus connector rather than a circle connector. He looks very cool with his look, and he would look cooler with the Golden Armor on. He has the Golden version of the Hau. Takanuva, Gresh, and Piraka have three identical Golden Armor pieces that make up the chest and shoulder armor pieces. Rahkshi has the Golden shield. Skrall has the Golden pummel. Takanuva from 2003 has two new staffs, and he has silver and white armor. Too bad that he doesn’t have gold pieces. Gresh has new armor on his shoulder and chest. I wonder if he can combine his new blades to form a shield in the story? Piraka, aka Nektann, from 2006 has a new rubber piece that looks kind of like Vezok’s head skin can fit a Glatorian head while it has spines that connect to Nektann’s arms and back. Why not call him Nektann? His teeth are not white, which is weird. I heard that he was supposed to have two weapons, but his finalized set has one. Why? His weapon is cool, though. Rahkshi from 2003 is a Rahkshi of Heat Vision with bulkier armor than its fellow Rahkshi. It has two-toed feet. It has a piece that is its head and spine connected together. Its staff looks like Guurahk’s staff, but the staff’s heads are positioned vertically rather than horizontally for some reason. That’s lazy. It doesn’t include a Kraata. Why didn’t the Rahkshi and its Kraata have a name? The Skrall set looks a set disproportionate because of his arm blades, and I don’t know why he has green color for a secondary color. Overall, the sets are the best ones. I like Tahu the best, and it’s good to look back at the past, though. It would have been nice if Lego had continued the G1 toy line, so there would be more sets and sets aren’t that small. There are no sets for Mata Nui or Makuta. That’s cheap, sadly. It’s a silly way to end the G1 toy line. All six have a combiner, which looks like a mutated Tahu with four lengthened arms, four lengthened legs, and Gresh’s blades as wings. He looks very weird with his look, but he looks cool because of the multiple limbs and blades that he carries in his hands. A contest was held and it was where fans would make up a story about who this guy is. When the winner was announced, the combiner’s name is Gaardus, who was mutated by some Nynrah Ghosts and can teleport. He is only featured in a story serial called The Power That Be. Now, for the media. The storyline is told through several things. There is two comic book issues, one in January and one in March, which sadly never got their own graphic novel to be included in for some reason. There is a chapter book called Journey’s End. The Polish version was released as a book while the English version was divided into 11 segmented entries, where you have to use a Bio Code that come every two weeks to unlock each entry. Plus, there is an audio podcast called Mata Nui Saga, where Michael Dorn, who voiced Mata Nui in Bionicle: The Legend Reborn in 2009, was narrating as Mata Nui. There are 34 chapters that came every Monday and Thursday. There’s no movie for the story, sadly. There is a series of five stop motion short videos that centered on the Stars characters. There is an online game called Agori Defender, which is a Tower Defense online game. It sucks that it doesn’t have a save function when you stopped at one of its six levels. Those stuff aren’t the best, but they’re good. For how I feel about the story, well, here’s this: I feel that the story is rushed, but it is epic in some ways. The ending is heart-warming. I’m impressed that Mata Nui learned how to be a normal person, like the people of Bara Magna. It’s very cool that people from MU and SM get to work together and know each other. Restoring Spherus Magna is the primary purpose in the G1 story, and I’m glad that this is done and fulfilled. I’m very glad that MU people are free from Teridax’s tyranny finally because they suffered for over a year since the end of the 2008 storyline. I pity Tahu for turning back into a Toa Mata. He lost slme things in his life, like his Kanohi Nuva. When will he change back into a Toa Nuva, though? Nektann is cruel and fearsome, and he is not afraid to face a Toa without a weapon. I don’t know what are his other powers, though. I heard that Gresh is a veteran while Teridax gave the Skrall shadow powers in the Lego set descriptions, but they never happened in the story. Why? Teridax is a psychotic tyrant who wants to destroy his enemies to do his conquest, but it’s a good thing that he is stopped for good. I’m happy for the people to Bara Magna to have Spherus Magna back because they suffered Bara Magna as they had scarce amounts of resources. I was expecting Mata Nui to get the Great Spirit Robot back, but it happened something else, and I find it okay. I heard that if he tried, he would have doomed his own people because the Mask looked at the world as imbalanced because of Teridax’s tyranny, anyway. I feel bad that Mata Nui had to sacrificed his first body to do the greater good. There are a lot of references to G1’s past storylines. To be honest, it’s not the best storyline overall, but it does have some charm. So, how would you celebrate the storyline’s 10th anniversary? What are your best moments and memories of the storyline? What is your favorite set and character? What medium reminds you of the storyline? Well, I could read Journey’s End, the comic books, and Mata Nui Saga again. I like these things the best. My favorite set is Tahu, and my favorite characters are Tahu, Takanuva, Nektann, Mata Nui, and Teridax. The things that remind me of the storyline are: The Marvel Cinematic Universe - Thanos was like Teridax when he came to ruin and take over the universe. That story made a lot of references to the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies before it. In Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is like Mata Nui when he had to sacrifice his home world for the good of his people and then have them move to the planet Earth. In Captain Marvel, Captain Marvel is like Mata Nui when she re-learns something that she was forced to forget. Ninjago - The Overlord wore the Golden Armor in the 2014 storyline. In Day of the Departed, March of the Oni, and Prime Empire storylines, etc., there are a lot of references from past storylines. Transformers - Mata Nui’s and Teridax’s relationship is like Optimus Prime’s and Megatron’s relationship for how they used to respect each other, but they became enemies because Megatron turned evil and doesn’t want to listen to reason. Plus, the giant robot fight reminds me of Primus vs. Unicron. Plus, in Transformers: The Last Knight in 2017, it made some references to the past films. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019 - It made a lot of references from the past films. Pacific Rim movies - the giant mechs in the movies kind of remind me of the giant robots in Bionicle. Hero Factory - Thunder and Drilldozer use Tahu’s foot pieces for feet. A story serial called Reign of Shadows in 2009, which is about people fighting against Teridax and his forces when he ruled the Matoran Universe, continued from that year to early 2010, amazingly, as it has 14 chapters. No other serials went that far. I wonder when will Alternative Teridax come back to his dimension and Vultraz to return to the prime reality? That bothers me. In early 2010, there is a podcast serial called Sahmad’s Tale, which is about Sahmad finding the source of his tribe’s dreaming problem. That spanned from early 2010 to June 2010 with 7 chapters amazingly. In late 2010, there are two story serials that take place after the events of the 2010 storylines. One is called The Yesterday Quest, where Onua sends a group of three new Toa, with a Glatorian named Gela from the 2009 storyline as their guide, to go find the Great Beings (I wonder how when the Great Beings left the planet, though). The other serial is called The Power That Be, where Kopaka and Pohatu are investigating a strange thing going on. Sadly, each of those serials are unfinished with cliffhangers, leaving the G1 story unfinished. There are a lot of unresolved stuff in the story. Greg Farshtey hasn’t updated the story since late 2011. That is traumatic and terrible. In 2012-2017, Greg was kind enough to answer Bionicle fans’ many questions, but he never finished the story. When will he do that? That’s very unnatural. How can we live with ourselves? Since that day, everything is changed sadly. Things are never the same. Hero Factory came to sustain the constraction category for Bionicle from late 2010 to 2014 until Bionicle came back as G2 in 2015-2016. We suffered cancellations of these awesome themes (Bionicle ended twice while HF once, and then category disappeared since 2018). The 2010s was a disastrous decade for constraction. We expected a good future, but that didn’t happened, and we are now in a Great Depression without constraction. We can’t be completely without those things, you know. Bionicle is a huge part of its fans’ lives. It saved Lego from bankruptcy in 2001, so Lego should have respected Bionicle much more. There is a question or two that are always in our heads: when will the G1 story be continued and have an ending, and when will Bionicle come back again? I always pray that they can come true for the sake of me and the fans.
  7. I'll be real with you lot, I'm a huge Bionicle fan (just like most of you here are) and I'm wondering, after reading a thread from 2016 asking somewhat the same thing, I'm looking for theories and or any information there might be regarding the return of Bionicle from 2020+ Lego has stated in a tweet about G2's cancelation that a return for Bionicle isn't going to be ruled out of the future. I wanna know your thoughts, is G3 possibly gonna happen within the next few years? While I'm willing to take everyone's opinions, I'm not looking forward to read negatie ones.
  8. Hi! I want to add Icarax with both box and instructions to my collections. If you have one for sell, I will be interested. Prefering Europe sellers.
  9. I was surprised to see my all-time favourite Bionicle showdown at the Fairview Mall LEGO Store in Toronto this past Saturday. However, I don't know how "official" this is. It says it was built by a Master Builder, but I don't know if this is just a one-off creation for this store only, or if the instructions came from higher up. Regardless, I just thought you would like to see it.
  10. A collab between ...The Chosen One... and myself, this is Takanuva and Makuta having a fancy showdown. And some fancy non-entry style extra individual shots! (Each photo links to flickr where you can see more shots of each) Takanuva (DeeVee): Makuta (...The Chosen One...):
  11. So, yeah. It kind of speaks for itself. And this has caused some confusion on other platforms but, the first pic is actually of the moc too! other angles: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Ids5621/Rahkshi/img_20171001_130554.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Ids5621/Rahkshi/img_20171001_120355754.jpg

So, sometime around the same time that Teridax infected the GSR with that sleep-causing virus, he took on the appearance of Turaga Dume in Metru Nui, presumably after subduing somehow and stuffing the real guy into a Matoran sphere. Now, according to BS01, Teridax went ahead and took over the person of "Dume" about a year and a half prior to the climax of Legends of Metru Nui. The question is... how did he avoid arousing suspicion right off the bat? If Teridax was the "Makuta of Metru Nui", presumably one of the folks who could directly influence trade, communication, and regulations concerning Metru Nui and work with the inhabitants of other islands to keep the place safe, how could he possibly have disappeared for over a year without creating mass panic? Sure, the Matoran probably didn't see much of an effect, as it's possible that they didn't even knew who Teridax was; however, the folks in charge of Xia, Zakaz, Stelt, and the Southern Continent would have surely made an effort to communicate with him on issues concerning immigration and commerce. As far as always figured, Teridax was the de facto leader of Metru Nui after the Matoran Civil War, with the Turaga serving a strictly ceremonial role for social events and rituals like Akilini games. (IIRC that's pretty much what the Turaga did on Mata Nui as well.) At the very least, he would have been watched by the Order, which was definitely keeping tabs on him and his efforts at militarizing the Brotherhood. Wouldn't folks have been trying to reach him constantly, especially as rumors spread of the Morbuzahkh and certain Dark Hunters? If anyone can clear this one up, then that would be phenomenal. 13. SO. Who's your favorite Makuta?Mine was Krika. I always felt sorry for him. He tried his best to do good, and look where it got him. Mutated, and faded out of existence by Gorast.
  14. You guys, I finished the thing!
  15. You guys I'm working on a thing. Three guesses what the thing is.
  16. Edit:I improved my Warlord Makuta in many ways since I entered it. I decided it was necessary, and I wish I entered it this way last time. I gave him extra claws like wolverine.I gave him transparent purple shin armor, a more natural looking battle skirt with more transparent purple to even it out. I also lowered his wings, and gave him a huge battle axe to go with his mace when he wants a different weapon. I think my next changes will be getting black axles for the skirt, which is kinda similar to JTO Makuta, and I will see if I can use some transparent purple on the arms without leaving gaps in his arm armor.. I am changing the original pictures to links. Ever since I saw the first animation for Bionicle generation 2, I wanted a huge Makuta. Then when we saw Journey to One, we got it. But I thought it just looked a little off. So I started thinking of how I would make a giant Makuta for the To a to battle. I wanted him to look large and impressive. And I then realized we never had a character with a flail. I then realized I had the purple pieces that would work great. Then I decided he needed a shelf. So I took some Thornatus pieces and a buzzsaw to make a kite shield. I then decided that the ways most characters hold their weapons looked rigid and unnatural. So he holds the flail at an angle. I made his talons and claws the same for consistency. I picked the shoulder arnor because it just looked so cool on Onua. I made the stomach and back use torso armor to reduce the gappiness, but it still has some gap on the back. The legs have an unnecessary amount of detail, but I like how they turned out. I especially like this Mask of Ultimate power. I hope you guys like this guy. I made several call changes recently, and I think I finally made him complete. I would welcome opinions and onions. http://i.imgur.com/VnKwHGI.jpg http://i.imgur.com/jLut1wY.jpg http://i.imgur.com/95kfofd.jpg http://i.imgur.com/AGliVLs.jpg
  17. Searching for Ekimu's tomb, the Toa journey deep beneath the City of the Mask Makers. There they wind through ancient catacombs, battling Skull Scorpios at every turn. In time they push their way—or are they themselves pushed?—into a vast chamber. In its center swirls a vortex of debris, all that remains of the vanquished Lord of the Skull Spiders. In the darkness, Onua can make out a lone figure. Have the Toa found their quarry at last? "Ekimu!" he calls. "We are here to rescue you!" The six gasp as an islander steps out of the shadows… Flickr Here is my entry to The Legend Continues contest! Participants create entries reflecting things they would have liked to see in G2 Bionicle. I recreated the MNOG confrontation with Makuta in the style of the 2015 animations. Please let me know what you think!
  18. I can hear the sound of my little cousin, Cyro crying. Sounds of fright and sadness. Both our houses were suddenly attacked and destroyed. Thank goodness nobody has been hurt. I’ve heard a similar tale of sadness before. Both my story, and this ancient one come from the same origin. It was such a simple path that led to this. Jealousy, and want for fame can lead to darkness, and many times it causes you to forget about others. Who knew that something so commonplace could lead to so much pain? Makuta and Ekimu were brothers. Both made amazing masks that allowed everyone on Okoto to go throughout their lives and complete tasks with ease. It was a wonderful time. We were flourishing, with all the comforts that a city could bring. It was a time of little hardship or conflict. We all thought it would stay like that. It didn’t. To celebrate the great help that these two brothers gave us, we held an annual festival each year to thank them. As well as to see what they had in store for us this time. Makuta and Ekimu both presented that which they had created. Although both created marvellous things, Ekimu’s always shone brighter in the eyes of the people. Eventually, a seed of jealousy was planted in Makuta’s heart. Instead of letting that seed spoil, he allowed it to grow. He allowed it to grow to a point to where he dabbled in things that could not be understood.Makuta allowed himself to become corrupted, and in turn hurt those that he wished to acknowledge him. In secret, Makuta had created the Mask of Ultimate Power. A mask with so much power, that it enlarged his faults even further, and led him to do things which we thought he would never do. Dark things to make us fear and worship him. Thankfully, Ekimu’s quick thinking kept the island from being destroyed, but his decision came at a price. Ekimu fell into a deep sleep, and we were forced to leave the great city which we had built due to the destruction that happened. Despite that sadness, we were eventually able to regain our lives. We had peace for a long time. Jealousy and greed bubbled up again to the surface. Our villages were attacked by creatures under Makuta’s control. We could do little to protect ourselves. We realized this and called upon an ancient prophecy about six heroes and protectors to help us in these dark times. We still had hope. The barrage of attacks kept on coming, and we were scared, but these heroes came and are doing all in their power to protect us, and give us comfort in this time. We are thankful, and we will support them in any way we can.
  19. [Digital Render] Makuta Teridax by Artemiy Karpinskiy, on Flickr "Little Toa, you have not yet begun to see even the barest outlines of my plans. I have schemes within schemes that would boggle your feeble mind. You may counter one, but there are a thousand more of which you know nothing. Even my … setbacks … are planned for, and so I shall win in the end.“ — Makuta Teridax to Toa Metru Vakama, Time Trap * * * If you like what I do and you want to see me create your OC, a favorite Bionicle Character, or something else, feel free to look up my Commission Info! 20. After being defeated by Ekimu & the Toa in his Behemoth form, Makuta decided to re-build himself with his remaining shadow powers into more agile and swift form. Equipped with 2 Katanas and Kusarigama (sickle and chain), he is still set on his destiny of taking revenge on his brother and rule over Okoto. Bonus pic Credit to [Chro] for the hand building technique. Comments and criticism welcome!
  21. After a long hiatus, the Bionicle: Audio-Narration-Project (or ANP for short), has finally returned! The entire third book in the Chronicles series, Makuta's Revenge, is available to listen to all at once right here!
  22. Special thanks to Kortess for designing this fantastic mask. Been wanted to put this together for a while after getting the mask but been at uni. Finally got a break home so i did this. Noticed someone recently put a similar moc up here, so i promise im not trying to steal anyones thunder. Just coincidental timing. Anyway, this is my best attempt to create a movie faithful Makuta. Obviously the colors are wrong since they're impossible lol. Also the red crotch, as im sure people will bring up, is red because it was red both in the movie and the set, and I wanted some dark red thrown in without going nuts. I guess Makuta likes getting busy. Also in the movie he has two thumbs. There wasn't a way to elegantly put that on a hand without making the hand too bulky or unsightly so i went with what I did. Also this way he can hold his staff in a reasonably realistic manner. Ill probably put up more shots soon, but my lamp currently broken. Lemme know what you guys think. Peace ~Ids5621~
  23. Hi, guys! I have a question that may make you wondering: What does the Mask of Control from G2 do specifically? We know what the Mask did in the story: it can be controlled by Makuta, Makuta used it to mutate and mind-controlled Umarak when Umarak is wearing it, Umarak used the mask to combine the Shadow Traps and elements from Okoto into the Elemental Beasts and control them, and perhaps summoning them. Plus, we know about what the other Legendary Masks of Power can do, but the Mask of Control is something to be curious about. Also, when Umarak became the Destroyer, he suggested to Makuta that he would lead the Elemental Beasts to bring destruction on Okoto, but Makuta objected it and told Umarak to do a different task. Makuta may control Umarak's mind, but Umarak has his own opinions to please his master, even though that he has to do what Makuta say. According to BS01, it can mind-control people and has mind-bending powers. What does "mind-bending" mean, too? It seems to be G2's own Mask of Mind Control (from G1, Onewa's mask). Makuta once wore the Mask, but never used to mind-control people or mutate himself. What was the purpose of the mask for Okoto, too? In other words, why did Makuta wear it before he made the Mask of Ultimate Power? Was it meant prevent Okotoans from being mentally corrupted or thinking to cause harm on Okoto? What else can the mask do? Control the elements like the Toa? What do you guys think about this? I think of the Mask of Control as the most mysterious of all the Masks of Power in G2 for what it can do.
  24. Hi, guys! We all know that Makuta Teridax from G1 and Makuta from G2, everybody's favorite Bionicle villain and mine, too, are like different versions of each other from alternate universes. Each of them is the main antagonist of one of the generations overall. Both are powerful and demonic warriors who have shadow powers and can shape-shift. They even turn into Titan-sized, or Hulk-sized forms, which are their traditional and well-known forms. They are masterminds who created complex plans that lead to conquest and destruction. They led armies of other evil-hearted villains. They always kill some people along the way. All of these qualities make them very dangerous, crazy, and cruel. We always see the Makuta's fight against Toa and their allies. Some of their allies are who the Makuta's call their "brothers" who they put into endless slumbers for a thousand of years. The Makuta's proved to be most difficult foes that the heroes have faced, are archenemies of the heroes, too. The Makuta's are like Bionicle's own Thanos from Marvel, Darkseid from DC Comics, Aku from Samurai Jack, Him from The Powerpuff Girls, the Overlord and Garmadon from Ninjago, President Business from The Lego Movie in 2014, Megatron from Transfomers, and Jafar from Disney's Aladdin movie in 1992 (happy 25th anniversary to it). I would consider Makuta Teridax to be one of the greatest villains in history (Makuta G2 - well, not so much). They have been through many battles through the storylines, and they include: 1. 2001 - Toa Mata vs. Makuta Teridax in his vortex form 2. Late 2003 - Takanuva vs. Teridax in his shadow Titan form 3. 2004 - Toa Metru (mainly Vakama) vs. Teridax in his winged Titan form 4. 2007 - the Barraki vs. Teridax as Maxilos 5. 2010 - Mata Nui and his forces vs. Teridax, controlling the Great Spirit Robot, and his forces 6. 2016 - Toa Uniters vs Makuta G2 If you have other things and the Makuta's being involved in battles in mind, go ahead to say it. Anyway, the point in this topic is that to ask you this: What is your favorite Makuta-Teridax-or Makuta-G2-involved battle? My question is inspired by the time I watched YouTube videos about boss battles of a certain boss from some games, like Lego Joker from Lego's TT Games, Bowser and each individual Koopaling (each of these guys have their own video) from Mario, and King K. Rool from Donkey Kong. There are so many Makuta Teridax/Makuta G2 fights that I compare them to these videos. You see what I mean? So, as I said, what is your favorite Makuta Teridax/Makuta G2 battle? For me, mine is the 2001, late 2003, 2004, and 2010 battles.
