I just posted an entry about how there's been a massive earthquake in Chile, and that there would be a tsunami.

The wave just hit New Zealand. It was 3 metres tall.

It could get smaller, it could get bigger, it could stay the same. I'm hoping for the former. A >3m tsunami in Sydney would be terrible. It probably wouldn't get to our house, even more so because it's on a hill, but still, it'd wreck the CBD.

Well, today, the 28th, is my birthday. I'm 15, yay!

But I'm also sick. And on top of that, there was a massive (8.8 on the Richter scale, which, by the way, has been long superseded by the MMS) earthquake in Chile, where a lot of my extended family live.

Also Sydney's on tsunami alert, and it's probably going to hit at quarter to 9 (about 3 hours from post time, because apparantly it's 1 hour off). The wave ought to be small, but it might get bigger on it's way over (it was 2.34m in Chile, and 20cm in the Chatman Islands, which is closer), which means we're not allowed near the beaches this morning. Funnily enough, I was supposed to go to a concert on the beach with some friends today, but I won't be able too, because I'm sick, and there's a tsunami on it's way (well, the concert'll be well after the tsunami, but all the same... It could delay setup, I suppose.)

So yeah. Nature stole my thunder. I haven't gotten any presents, except from my grandparents, from whom I got $125. I think we've just had time to be worried about the quake, and I'll probably get stuff later (after a trip to the doctor's)

EDIT: Also, a disturbing fact: None of the BBCC 57 entries were Doctor Who based. NONE! What has this world come too?

I haven't posted in ages, so I thought I might as well.

My dad's put parental controls on, so I only have access to the computer 4 hours a day weekdays, 14 hours a day weekends. This is annoying, because it's the 4 hours of my day that nobody is online, that is, 6PM-8PM GMT+10

The End of Time Part 1 airs tomorrow, and I'm hoping at least SOME friends turn up to watch with us. If they don't, they should at least come for Part 2. The annoying thing is that (probably because of TV channel competition) TEoT is on at the same time as Talking about your generation, which is an awesome game show. I've seen TEoT, but nobody else has, which probably means I'm gunna have to record them both. After all, I set the timer to record for Doctor Who the day the air dates were announced. And besides, I think DT's last two episodes of Doctor Who take precedence over whatever else is on, regardless of what it is.

My portable hard drive broke this week, which is annoying, because now I only have a 1GB USB stick, which means my sister has more storage space than I do (her school gives her a 4GB stick). I'm looking to buy the LaCie CooKey, which is a 4, 8, 16, or 32 GB USB stick that is in the shape of a key.

I also want a new phone, purely because my phone is OLD now. I have a little flip-up Motorola, and pretty much everyone else has a smart phone (friends and mum have iPhones, dad has a HTC Hero). Right now I'm looking at the Nexus One/HTC Dragon, because I love Google (and even though there have been many other Android phones, the Dragon seems to be 'the' Google phone).

Also, who cares about the iPad? It looks like a picture frame! The margin on all sides is the same, that's why. I think the hypothetical G-Pad would be better, because I like Google, also because it's meant to run Chrome OS, which is an awesome OS. The iPad is just an iTouch but BIGGER. The G-Pad would be a tablet version of a notebook, not a giant version of an mp3 player.

You see, Hero Factory is actually Villengard, obviously, and they all travel in small, hard-to-land pods through time and space!

    IT WAS SO OBVIOUS!

And in the end, the Hero Factory will be replaced by a banana grove.

I trust the sets will be better after that

I think it's quite good. The circuitry's only come out twice in the half a day I've had it!

But now all the holes are superglued shut. Shouldn't get any more problems. Bit delicate though, I'll need to keep it on something that doesn't get things crushed easily. A lanyard, perhaps? Or my keyring?

Both of those means it'll need a ring. And ideas? (for getting a ring on, or how to hold it)

Everything up to 8-5 now. Once I get all of them I'll be triple-star, then when I do W9, quadruple-star!

Then it's just W9 Star Coins. And Star Coins are easy.

I got NSMB Wii for Christmas, and after I got back from NZ on the 13th, I've been playing it, a lot. I'm double shiny star complete at the moment, and I've got levels 9-1 through 5, working on 6. World 6's star coins are hard for me to get, and World 5's were probably easiest.

I want my quintuple shiny star completion!

    Also, I have 99 lives!

My dad bought me all 4 of the revived series. I watched the one episode I'd missed, The Fires of Pompeii, and I watched some 9th Doctor episodes, and I watched New Earth. And I found the best 10th Doctor quote ever (or rather, so far)... When the Face of Boe finds finishes talking to the Doctor, he says "That is enigmatic... That- That is... That is textbook enigmatic."

    Love the 10th Doctor.

I'm working on a Mata Nui MOC right now. I've got so far the lower torso, that is, hip and pistons up to the bottom of the chest. It's massive. Here's a pic (linked) of Toa Mata Nui lying down next to his former lower torso: Here

This will be a hard project.

While I was in NZ, I watched the End of Time, because I downloaded it off the Internet. I missed a bit of it, right near the end, which was a bummer, but I got most of it. Obviously, in this episode, the 10th Doctor dies. I wasn't expecting Wilf to be the knocker, though. It is better, I suppose, that he died saving a life, than his dying at the hands of a corrupt Time Lord. The Lord President was Rassilon, too, which was awesome, because we haven't seen him since The Five Doctors, which is one of the few old episode I've watched. But in that serial he was punishing the corrupt Time Lord, so obviously the War has made him a huge hypocrite. Also I like the introduction of the Doctor's mother (credited as The Woman), which finally totally disproves McGann's statement that he was half-human on his mother's side. Wonder who the other good Time Lady/Lord was. I'm guessing Romana, but maybe not. I really hope the Master appears again, as a companion even. He turned sort of good at the end, and I think he'd make an awesome companion. One thing I think/hope might happen in the new series is Smith trying to find a way to end the Time War, and bring the Time Lords of old back, with the Master, of course.

The 30 seconds of Smith we got in this episode looked quite promising, I'm looking forward to his first series. The trailer for it looks even better, but he won't be able to top Tennant, I think. According to a small sign advertising a Sonic Screwdriver LED Torch at Weta Studios I visited in Wellington, he gets a new Sonic, too. Probably River's. I like the supposed character of the 11th Doctor. He's apparently old and wise, in a young body, so what's meant to happen is that nobody can take him seriously because of his youth, which makes him rather peeved sometimes. I'm not sure about introducing (well, technically re-introducing) vampires, but the return of the Weeping Angels looks good. And a white Dalek! Being hit by an actual plunger!

That's just what I'm thinking about Doctor Who right now. Also that it's soundtrack is awesome.

In the Official Elements Topic recently, I've been trying to push my theory of Gravity in BIONICLE. It's based on Quantum Field Theory and the Standard Model of physics.

Here are the facts we have:

-Toa of Gravity can, on a small scale within the MU, change gravity using elemental energy
-When all gravity in an area in the MU is absorbed, the result is anti-gravity.
-Mata Nui can control gravity on a much larger scale than a Toa.
-Mata Nui standing on Aqua Magna was not seen to have an effect on the beings within him (they didn't slide south, for example).
-Nor does the force of his flying through space seem to effect the beings within him
-A balance between gravity and anti-gravity must be achieved for 0g.

    Here's my theory:

-Gravity in the Matoran Universe is not caused by the curvature of Space-Time.
-It is instead caused by gravitons, which act as the gauge boson of MU 'gravity', along the lines of electromagnetism's photons.
-These gravitons have an anti-particle, anti-gravitons.
-The gravitons and anti-gravitons are ambient within the MU; they are ambient as a field being emitted from the ground, and are being emitted by all objects and beings within the MU, but only by these.
-Like electromagnetism, when a graviton meets an anti-graviton, they repel the owners of the particles. When a graviton meets a graviton, they attract. The same with anti-gravitons and other anti-gravitons.
-Beings in the MU emit gravitons only. The ground, or back, of the MU emits both anti- and regular gravitons.
-The graviton levels of the ground/back are controlled by Mata Nui in the same was as a Toa would, but on a larger scale: With elemental gravity energy.
-The regular balance is approximately 9.8m/s^2 anti- to 19.6m/s^2 regular gravitons. This gives a 9.8m/s^2 pull downwards.
-When outside the MU (or when MU's gravity systems are disabled, such as when he was on Aqua Magna), the MU inhabitants still emit gravitons. They are also effected by regular gravity. Toa of Gravity can cause objects to emit gravitons, even ones outside the MU. To make a being lighter outside the MU, he causes the ground beneath them to emit anti-gravitons with his elemental energy.

    Hello.

I'm sure you've heard of Tilius' fantastic effort to get TLG to produce a Great Spirit set. If you haven't, the link to the poll is here, and his blog is here.

Anyway, here's my idea: If the effort fails, we build a Great Spirit TO SCALE with the sets. As I said in the poll topic, that's 1275.90698 kilometres tall.
I propose we build it in the Pacific or the Atlantic, whichever works best for BZPower's members. Having around 40000 members, we will be able to ration 318 metres (measured in height) of Spirit for each of 40000 members to build. The rest will build the appendages. It will be made out of System, LEGO will supply the parts (It will, after all, be awesome for publicity). We shall fill the inside with sand and water, make the islands (to scale too, of course) and sell properties in it. Or just live there ourselves.

All who are in support, comment "I".

I'm crazy enough to think that, with enough organisation, this is possible. Immensly unlikely, but possible. WHO'S WITH ME!?

    Oh and here's some measurements:

It will be 1275.90698km tall, meaning it will require 127590698 bricks upwards, at it's highest point. Members need to build 31.8976745 metres of it each, that's 3190 bricks up each. I estimate the 'roof', or chest, of it will need to be around that depth as well, and I have yet to work out how thick he needs to be, although it'll be a lot. If a member gets 32m of head to do, he must also do 32 metres of each arm. This way everyone gets approximately equal work.

So, BIONICLE sets are ending. And here's my obligatory opinion:
I don't like that the sets are going. I am a collector (sorta), so it's not good that I won't be able to anymore. It is awesome that the story's going to continue. I'm looking forward to the story without the restrictions sets brought.I think that, now that the sets are gone, BZPower will be the majority of the fanbase, which means more story influence! That's a good thing.I fully support Tilius in his effort for a Great Spirit set. It's a fantastic idea and I will definitely buy it.Now that that is over and done with, I have a prototype MOC sitting next to me. It's a Dalek, and it's bottom half needs thickening. Unfortunately it seems brickshelf is still dead, so photos will have to wait. It uses the fuel dome thing from Toa Ignika's Skyboard as a head, leech ball claws as a grate, a few technic pieces as a torso, and rahkshi legs as the base. Base is too small, torso too bony and grate too big. Problems to fix, and FIX THEM I WILL.

    Hey guys

I went to see 2012 last night, and it was quite good. The graphics were good and the story was decent.

So all the things you expect from a disaster movie. Especially when it's accompanied by myths and bad science.

So one thing I'd like to say is this:

The Mayan Calendar. Many people believe that, because the Mayan Calender's Long Count ends on December 21st 2012, the world will also end then.

This is just untrue. The Mayans, were they still around, would have switched calendars to a new one at the end of the Long Count, much as we do every year. On top of that, the Long Count doesn't even end on 21/12/2012. Here's the exact time the Mayan calendar ends, assuming the midnight of 21/12/12 as the "end":

6:50 PM, September 20, 4772 (Mayan time, which is the GMT -6)

Yes, that's right, the Mayan calendar ends in a mere two-thousand, seven hundred and sixty-one years.

We have nothing to worry about in our lifetime. But why does everyone think it (the calendar ends in 2012?

The answer is simple: A measure of time the Mayans used on their long count, a "B'ak'tun", lasts 144,000 days, that's 394.3 years. In the Long Count Mayan Calendar, there are 20 B'ak'tuns. A B'ak'tun does end on 2012's winter solstice, but it's not the 20th. It's the 13th. So there's actually 7 b'ak'tuns left until the calendar ends.
The reason everyone doesn't know this is that most people don't look things like this up, and if they do, it will probably be on a conspiracy website. Conspiracy theorists most likely started this myth.

Even if the end of the world is signalled by the end of the calendar of the Mayans, we have nothing to worry about. It's still hundreds of generations away.

So there goes the only shred of evidence for the imminent destruction of the earth. I hope nobody needed to be told that it won't end in three years.

I have sorta gotten into amateur astronomy. I've been tracking the Galilean Moons. It's very exciting. I only have two days of it (18/10/09 and 20/10/09), but I think I've figured out which moon is which, so maybe I can predict tonight's positions! It'd be awesome if I got it right.
So, adding astronomy to my list of interests (or was it already there?)

    In other news:

I missed QI. I know, terrible. But now I have it set to record at the correct time, instead of the incorrect time, which I believe will help somewhat in my not missing it.

There's a show called "Hungry Beast" on tonight, it has the Chaser's slot. Supposed to be great, I'll have to record it.

Exams coming up, and in a mere week! But I get a free double period during the Commerce exam, because so many people do Commerce, that there isn't enough people not doing it to go to normal classes. So that'll be fun. And the exams only last a week for me (two for some), and then, we get our laptops! Yay! And apparently BZPower isn't blocked on them.

I have waaaaay to many tabs open. I can't even see a single letter of the site title anymore. I only have *cough*22*cough* open!

    That's it for now,

Apparantly I took out the user template from my page. Well, that's my page gone.

With only Bing (*shudder*) Cache saving my page, I am attempting to get it back. But since the cache didn't save the "Activate Akaku" page, I need to remake the templates myself. Oh well, I guess it's a chance to improve...

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot... I trashed the Ignika project, it's been much too hard to measure, I was too inaccurate in the past. So I decided to paint it gold straight on the mask, to see how it'd have looked. It's rather messy, but I think it came off well. Expect the pics early next week (Next week starting Monday).

I'm currently working on a project: a card/cardboard Kanohi Ignika. It's going great so far, I've got a prototype pic about a week old:

Since then I've made the top have a more stick-out thing, like the real mask, and covered the top in black. I've also done a scale version of the actual front of the mask, so I'm gunna stick that on and use cardboard for the guy. And the stripes.

So yeah, look forward to that, I'll post more pics when I'm finished or I have another decent WIP stage (it currently has a somewhat large hole in the top because of when I was trying to staple the black onto the top, and then ran out of staples. When I fix that I'll take a pic or two.)
