  1. Crimson Jester
    RPG Masters' Guild

    What is this?

This is a group of Role Players who have experience and knowledge behind how these games work. Currently there are three members to this group; Robo, Crimson Jester, and Spink. The two on the ends (Robo and Spink) Have been known to help out with a few RPGs and get questions related to RPG Help to them, and for Crimson Jester (CJ), he has knowledge in many of the aspects and has experience from running several of his own, as well as writing up several.

We are here to help with other people with Role Playing in general, from IC structure, or just questions out of the blue on Role Playing Games that are Text Based, we are around to offer our help to those who want it. We do not consider ourselves the "Best" but are the three willing to answer these questions and help out with possible new RPGs. Since two are Judges for RPGs in COT, they generally know what will and what won't get by, so help from them is probably a good thing. CJ knows what he talks about, and knows how to structure and create an RPG, as well as play in them.

We are here to help, nothing more, nothing less.

We call ourselves the "RPG Masters' Guild" because we are a group of people who know what we're talking about and what we're doing, and have put ourselves in the group to help. The name isn't to give a "We're better than everyone demeanor" but just a fancy titles that sounds good.

    There is not much else to say, that relates to this group, but this;

Robo - Basically the guy in the head of it, since the idea was generally his.
Crimson Jester - Robo's right hand man and second to know of this, and has graciously put this in his blog.
Spink - The Freshman of the group, he's the one who wrote up what you are reading, and so actually *GASP* DOES STUFF.

All three are open to any and all questions you may have regarding the TBRPG business.

So here's the situation: Hak and I, like every night lately, were playing Seven Hand Poker via MSN. We had each won two matches, and were playing a fifth and final round to break our tie. Game plays through as it usually does, Hak gets a chip, I get a chip, so on, and so forth. But our tiebreaker ended in a tie! We both had four chips! So yeah. Seeing how ironic that was, I decided to share my epic tale with all of you.

    *goes back to Poker*

And yes, however strange it may sound, my name is Colt.

Ugh. I just got up and I already have work to do. Seeing how I'm gone to boot camp for three weeks as of Saturday, I've got all this packing to do, I have to iron my uniform and polish my boots, have to let all you folks know I'm going to be gone, find people to watch my RPG Characters, and *gulps*, I have to clean my room. Oh did I mention I was going to be gone for three weeks? I guess I'll give you guys the low-down on my Boot Camp:

(Not sure about the rest of you) But here in Canada, we have these groups called Army, Sea, and Air Cadets, with I myself being an Air Cadet. We do all of our regular training throughout the regular school year, and come summertime, we are given the option to go further our training at a summer camp. We stay at some Base or another, depending on what branch of Cadets we're in, where we're located, and what course we're taking. This year, I am taking Introduction to Leadership at the now out-of-commission World War II era Air Force Base, Penhold. Basically its three weeks of good food, great people, and semi-boring classes.

Well, I guess since I've probably got the idea in your head, I might as well wrap this up. So, until next time, BZP.

Grilled cheese is one of those few things in life you can always be sure of; one of those simple, yet amazingly comforting nuances in life. All it is is two butter-slathered pieces of bread, inseminating their toasty deliciousness into the tender, melting slice of cheese pressed into the soft inner sides of the bread. Add a little dab of the vibrant flavoring provided by ketchup, and you have literally one of the only things brilliant enough to be served in heaven.

If that there didn't make your mouth water, you are strange, and should leave my blog.

And yes, I'm blogging about grilled cheese. But before you look at me weird, remember. You're the one reading this.

Time for a short little rant, maggots!

Opinions. Like the humans behind them, opinions are scattered and diverse. They are part of what I like to call our individuality complex; what makes you, you. Like fingerprints, there are no two sets of opinions that exactly match. This can range from your favorite sports team, whether you enjoy a certain type of food, or even your favorite music/bands. People also carry negative opinions, usually biased in one way or another by hearsay, or a bad experience.

That being said, despite what some of you particularly head-strong people like to think, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I don't care how much it infuriates you, but unless it actually has some sort of defaming or demeaning quality to it, it is allowed to be spoken. This, unlike mostly everything else I or you say, is 100%, pure-cut fact. So, suck it up. Because, if you actually listen to your common sense for once in your life, you'll come to realize you have this handy little quality to walk away from a situation, or ignore the opposing party.

Now, that being said, you're probably wondering why I'm bringing this up. I was wandering a certain forum today, and came across an argument between several individuals over hatred for each others opinions. This topic has been debated several times, and often has to have some sort of staff intervention.

My first thought, as I looked at the confrontation was "What's the point? They're just making themselves, and the side they're defending, look stupid and lacking self-control." This brings me to my point.

This website, despite what seems to be popular belief, isn't, and never will be, a forum of debate. I mean, in CoT in particular, there is a specific rule aimed at the dubbed 'versus' topics. The staff see what it does. It breaks two seemingly decent things and people down into a blinded slap-fight of pathetic retorts between a pair of blithering fools. They lock themselves so deeply into the fight, the two parties fail to see how bloody stupid they look. Because really, no matter how 'ignorant' or 'uninformed' your opponent is, you're both completely biased.

So why do it? You get nothing out of it. I mean, internet tough-guys aren't like the real world. Everyone sees through your thinly-veiled threats, and the pompous attitude. Hiding behind a screen gets you nowhere. At the end of the day, everyone walks away from their computer, laughing at another kid who (with much effort, of course) is capable of making himself look easily as dumb over text as he does in real life.

So, for those of you who didn't care to read the rest, because something else in your day is keeping you busy (which, I must congratulate you for), here's the gist of it:
-Arguing about opinions is like fighting with your bare hands over a pile of guns, only to find the cache is filled with bubble-gum wrappers.
-Internet tough-guys aren't that good at appearing tough
-Bickering on the internet literally gets you nowhere
-Everyone is entitled to an opinion

Now, with that being said: please, for the love of BZP, please shut your mouths. If you don't like what somebody else thinks, learn to control yourself. The world is a plethora of varying opinions. You have more important things to worry about. I speak for the majority of the forum when I say your consistent beating of the last few specks of a long-dead horse really are just an inconvenience. You aren't even doing yourself any good.

So, unless you've something contributory to say, put a sock in it!

As of late, I've been working on a rather massive new CoT RPG project, based around the console RPG 'Mass Effect'. Being a rather expansive game, with many paths to choose, and many things to discover. Thus, I'm asking you, the BZPower community, to aid me in making this project one for the books. Comment, or PM me, for details.

    Hello again, Vault Dwellers.

Have you ever had an absurd idea for a day you could not possibly imagine happening? And, furthering that, have you ever had one of those days actually take place? In five days, I can successfully say I have.

See, my former plight is this: one of my favorite bands, Disturbed, although having toured regularly since the release of 2000's The Sickness, they haven't done a full-fledged Canadian tour, or even dipped into the western provinces, since 2001.

Despite my chagrin at this, my imagination pushed its' boundaries, placing me in many a happy moment, imagining myself moshing to one great song after another. For 7 years this absurd dream remained instilled in my mind, occasionally resurfacing itself. But, less than a month ago, this dream became a reality:

It was a dark, cold Monday night, in mid-October. Being home alone yet again, I had free reign of the house, and thus, unlimited computer access.

I popped up Firefox, and began thinking, eventually deciding on committing to the occasional, ever-so-daunting task of checking my email inbox. Most of it was, no surprise, spam, chain mail, or ###### I didn't feel like reading. But suddenly, I stumbled upon a message from the oh-so-glorious TicketMaster. Immediately, I noticed 'Disturbed' buried amongst it's contents.

At first, I was a bit hesitant, having just weeks prior, lost a savage ticket battle to attend Metallica. But, my brain said 'What the hey', and I went at it. Much to my surprise, the tickets had yet to go on sale, and had a nice little pre-sale going on. So, using my vast resources, I tracked down the pre-order code, and hopped on to TicketMaster.

And this brings me to today; it is just five days shy of the Disturbed concert, and here I am, holding four crisp, heavenly tickets in my hand.

Aside from this illustrious story, I have not much to report here from the Vault, sadly. This weekend, though, will be quite the marvelous one. I relish in the thought of having four days off, to sleep, eat, and continue some epic adventures in the Capital Wasteland.

Oh, there is one thing I would like to mention right now: if you have any wonderful ideas for fan-dangled additions to The Vault, or topics for me to discuss, please, don't be afraid to inform me.

Well, I've been writing on-and-off for a fair hour here, so, I believe it's time for the ever-so-infamous (Hah! I wish!) line. But first, I'll leave you with a link to a brilliant short story, by my good friend Nayaks.

As well, The Vault now has it's own members club, with exclusive imagery, special status, and other great features! PM me for info on The Vault Dwellers' Society!

    Good evening, Vault residents,

Tonight's message is a great milestone, straight from the desk of myself, the Overseer.

Thanks to my good friend, who you all know as The Captain, The Vault has received it's first approval:

From the one staff member (me), I'd like to extend thanks to him!

    Until next time BZP,

    CJ.

BZP role-players, Judges, RPG staff, and whomever may come across it,

I'm here to make one point, and one point only: as of today, I'm retiring from RPG creating. I've been doing this on BZP for going on 5 years now; by far the longest run of any RPG creator I can think of. I've had my share of crushing defeats, and glorious wins in my days doing this, and it was all worth it. The three RPG Contest victories, and dozens upon dozens of CoT RPGs I've made in my days; I don't regret a single one. The experience as a whole was the best I've had on BZP, and the only thing that's really kept me here.

But, times change. I go from fresh, to seasoned, to veteran. RPG demands change, role-players come and go, and new RPG creators step up to the plate. Some have wondrous success, while others suffer catastrophic failure. The ones who succeed, like I, continue what they do, making a name and place for themselves. But, like anything, we age, we change, and we fade into the background. People move on to the fresh RPG creators, the visionaries, the ones who bring fresh new ideas to the plate, changing the way we see RPGs. And veterans like myself, we have to slow down, end gracefully. It's time for me to step aside, and let the newer generations of RPG creators to take the reins.

Now, don't fret; this doesn't mean I'll be quitting RPGs entirely. In fact, with my time freed up from the tasks of running RPGs, I'm going to focus on getting myself back into RPing; re-establishing myself as the RPer I once was. I've definitely neglected my RPing as of late, and caused some grief, as I left quite a few fellow RPers hanging as I disappeared in and out.

As well, upon request, I'd still love to help other creators, giving my opinion, assisting in improvement of others work, and helping to create RPGs. I still love creating, and I don't think that will ever go away. So please, just ask. I'll need something to do now and again.

Anyways, before this gets too long, I'd just like to make one final note: thanks to all the wonderful RPers who've supported me over the years, making my experience a great and rather colorful one, and putting me to where I am today. My inner RPer wouldn't be where its at without you guys.

    Hello, not-so-faithful readers.

Today's major subject, as noted in this entry's title, is sequels. Sequels, in the simplest form, are the follow-up, profit-raking, deformed brother of an original. But, what the dictionary fails to mention, is how terrible they usually are. *glares at Batman* Now, why I'm discussing sequels is probably beyond you at this point. And that usually isn't good, thus, I guess I'll divulge what I'm rambling about.

For starters, for you word-filter annihilated people, this is the second entry in my blog's newest, fanciest form, and as well my second as premier. As well, this is the second incarnation of the blog itself, going through a magnificent change (much thanks to Hak and EW), from it's old 'Jesterland' format. Yes, at this point, it lacks awards, and a logo. Awards, I have no control over. A logo, I'll blackmail someone into doing later.

Aside from the obvious, there is an ulterior motive to the title and topic of this entry. For those of you who aren't aware, I run an RPG over in Bionicle RPG, known as 'Wasteland'. Currently, I have an idea for a sequel culminating in my head. But, it's fate rests in the balance, due to my impatience and sheer sloth. I really have no motivation to create it at this point, but, I will give my RPers, and anyone else who cares, have a chance at redeeming it, and allowing it to live on for one more day. If you really want it to see the light, please, PM me, and give me some motivation to do so.

Now, on another RPG-related note, I would like to bring to the attention of you, the reader, the situation of role-playing in Completely Off-Topic; the dreaded, bottomless beast of a forum that we've all heard scary stories about. Between a vast number of inexperienced, bigoted, childish players, and skilled ones with a lack of motivation or interest, the state of RPing has gone to the pot. Every day, newer, less thoughtful, and even more disgustingly bland RPG's are popping up, racking up hundreds of posts in mere days, pushing decent, well-thought, and deep RPGs into the forum's insatiable bowels of doom. We must petition for change. We need a revolution. (And, I didn't think any further than that)

On a closing note, please go check out my RPG, Shattered Earth, and save it from the CoT oblivion.

    Until next time BZP,

    -CJ

    Hello, fellow BZPers.

You may have noticed that I've decided to go ahead with a Short Story Contest. So, here's the lowdown:

You have until February 4th to create for me a Short Story. Length, I don't care. I care about quality.

Now, with any SS Contest, there will be a theme. This contest's theme will be the lyrics to Disturbed's song Remember. You may choose to incorporate the lyrics, or simply build a story based upon said lyrics (granted, you include an explanation of how the story fits the song with your story).

Stories will be judged by myself based upon originality, ties to theme, and grammar. Yeah, I'm simple.

As well, I'd suggest listening to the song as well. It's simply beautiful.

Now, to run over the info one more time:
    Final Entry Date: February 4th
    Length: Your choosing.
    Theme: 'Remember' by Disturbed

As I final note before I give you your lyrics, winners will be announced February 7th.

    Lyrics:
    Sensation washes over me
    I can't describe it
Pain I felt so long ago
    I don't remember
Tear a hole so I can see
    My devastation
    Feelings from so long ago
    I don't remember

Holding on, to let them know
What's given to me, given to me
    To hide behind
    The mask this time
    And try to believe

Blind your eyes to what you see
    You can't embrace it
    Leave it well enough alone
    And don't remember
Cut your pride and watch it bleed
    You can't deny it
Pain you know you can't ignore
    I don't remember

Holding on, to let them know
What's given to me, given to me
    To hide behind
    The mask this time
    And try to believe

    If I can
    Remember
    To know this will
    Conquer me
    If I can
    Just walk alone
    And try to escape
    Into me

    Sensation washes over me
    I can't describe it
Pain I felt so long ago
    I don't remember

I'm just holding on, to let them know
What's given to me, given to me
    To hide behind
    The mask this time
    And try to believe

    If I can
    Remember
    To know this will
    Conquer me
    If I can
    Just walk alone
    And try to escape
    Into me
    into me
    into me

    Hello again, Vault citizens!

Tonight, I bring you a brief, but rather important announcement:

I'd like to announce the addition of a new, unique, and rather interactive feature to our wondrous Vault: the Guest Column. Here's how it goes down: once a week, I'll extend an invitation to Vault Dwellers to PM me their rantings, thoughts, theories, etc. You will have six days to have your column to me, and a week from the date, your column could appear in the 'Guest Column' box, where it will remain until a new column is chosen.

Please, don't hesitate to send me your column. Our first deadline is this Saturday, at 10AM Mountain Time.

    Until next time BZP,

    CJ.
  13. Crimson Jester
Well, it seems that the generosity of the BZP populace has yet again caught me off guard.

For those who haven't taken notice yet, I am a week away from the beginning of my sixth, I repeat, sixth year at BZP. I'm sure it's something many people have hit, and will continue to hit, but, from my perspective, it seems like quite the milestone. In these six years, many things have happened. Bad times, like Hurricane Katrina, the canceling of Duke Nukem Forever (Fornow) and the recent Haiti earthquake. Good times, from the election of Barack Obama, to the release of several of my top albums of all time. Heck, in the time span of six years, I've gone from being a child, to a teen, and now nearly an adult.

Now, before I go any further, I'd like to give my express thanks to Desu, Spink, and EW (twice). Without these three, I wouldn't be typing a blog entry. It was out of Desu's pocket, and the latter two's suggestion, that I be given the wonderful surprise of this PMship. So, if you do happen to comment in this entry, be sure to thank them.

Anyways, enough of that happy, cheer demeanor garbage. Down to business.

Not much to really note here at this point. Since my time of last writing, I've gotten further into the enlistment process. I applied for the Royal Military College of Canada, in order to get paid to go to university, and to become a Canadian Forces Infantry Officer. They've taken quite an interest in me, due to my hockey background (ironic for a Canadian, eh?), and I figure I'll probably be playing for the varsity team.

So yeah, if you want, feel free to ask me some questions about anything. But specifically RMC. I'm insanely ecstatic about it.

Now, before I drag this out, let me exit to the tune of an ever-famous quote from one of my favorite actors of the 20th century:
    "NYAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!"

    That is all.

  14. Crimson Jester
January 27th, 2004. Five years ago today. A bored-out-of-his-mind, Bionicle-loving youth, with a handy computer, got bored and searched for Bionicle sites. Near the end of his fruitless searching, one site in particular caught his interest: BZPower.com. Something drew him in, and that day, he signed up, under the name 'Troopertoran'.

Time went by, and Troopertoran, now known as Inferno Nuva: Toa of Rage became a regular forum-wanderer, haunting the Comedies forum, and Completely Off Topic.

Names changed; Inferno Nuva: Toa of Rage, to Inferno Nuva: Hordika of Rage. Pointless, yes. But somehow suitable. BZP had been wonderful for that first year, and the member met many a great friend between comedy writers, and CoT role-players. But, as these friends left, Inferno left too, not to return until September 2005.

Upon returning, the member met one of his dearest BZP friends (no longer here), Mourning Jester. After some time, he was invited to become a Jester himself, adopting the name 'Black Jester'. The member's BZP career flourished, creating and participating in well over forty CoT RPGs. Then, one day, Mourning Jester left, and Black Jester moved on, to the Bionicle RPG Forum.

A two-year stint in the BZPRPG, as well as The Academy, and several other RPG Contest heavy-hitters, including three miserable wins of his own, skyrocketed his role-playing career to an all-time peak. Many wonderful friends, including Hak, Mout, Lazzy, Dwin, Tom, Nid, EU and HG were gained in the BZPRPG.

But, as time faded, so did the BZPRPG. Two years after entering, the member left, killing off his central character, and leaving his faction behind to a real-life friend and fellow member. Back to CoT he went, and in CoT he remains, as a writer, critic, guitarist, and role-player.

That member was me. And I'm proud to have such a rich history with such good friends. And this blog entry goes out to them (including some not mentioned here)(in no particular order):
    -Hak
    -Mout
    -Necro
    -EW
    -Vak
    -Vak II
    -EU
    -Nid
    -Tom
    -Lazok
    -KoApp
    -Dwin
    -HG56
    -Robo

    -Koname
    -Sera
    -Rehz
    -Veef
    -DoF
    -Nayaks
-A heckuva lot more of ya
-And last, but definitely the most significant, Mourning Jester. (You'd better show up again some day)

Thanks to all of you, and everyone else, for a wonderful experience on BZP.

    Hello, BZP.

I'm sure most of you reading this know who I am by now, and have a vague idea of how my mind works. If not, please, allow me a moment to indulge:

I HAVE A FREAKIN' PROFILE FOR A REASON!

Now, with all indulgences aside, I'd like to first, yet again, thank EW for giving me this wonderful opportunity. BZP wouldn't be the same without you.

To all of you out there: yes, this is rather short for a blog entry, and yes, my blog is rather plain at the moment. But, don't you fret, citizens! I have a skilled team of experts working to fix the blandness, and I'm getting the kinks out of my blogging. Expect a full return, and near-daily entries, soon.

Please, enjoy my future and past rantings, and, from all of us (me) here at Jester Enterprises, I'd like to an extend a warm welcome to the Wasteland.

    Until next time, BZP.

    Hello, BZPers.

Lately, I've had this insatiable craving. Could be from too much Call of Duty: World at War, or the massive collection of war books beside me, but either way, I need committed, quality quality RPers.

For what, you probably won't ask, seeing as the answer is bloody obvious. But, for those of you who can't guess, I've got a war RPG coming soon, and I need some good, solid RPers for it. Let me know if you feel like helping out/participating.
  17. Crimson Jester
Life is a constant battle. I flourish on the battlefield. At heart, we are all soldiers in our own game.

That being said, I'm really bored with the way this war is going. Same repeated attacks and defenses, time and time again. Life needs variation. Suggestions?
  18. Crimson Jester
Calvin and Hobbes. The epitome of brilliant comics. I have literally read each and every one cover-to-cover, probably hundreds of times. Bill Watterson`s genius, yet simplistic humor always brought a jolly laugh to my day, and it still does. So, I have decided to, once a week, share with you some of my favorite strips. Please comment.
