  1. But... Isn't that what we have parents for? To do stuff for us?

If you were being sarcastic, my bad, but my reply to this would be...

Essentially, when you're first born, that's your parents' key role. As a little baby, you can't fend for yourself, so you have to let your parents do everything for you, literally everything. As you gradually get older, you start doing things yourself. You can pick up a spoon and feed yourself, you start to walk, you start to open things. As you move through being an infant, you begin to speak and use your body effectively to complete tasks. You continue to become more independent.

Then you reach an age where it's just kinda bleh. Really, you don't need your parents to do a whole lot for you, but after years of them doing jobs and such for you, you've gotten kind of used to it. However, just like in the past, you have to keep moving in order to mature. That basically means that you have to start taking jobs on your own. You don't need your parents to coax you into doing something anymore, and the real world sure as heck isn't going to, so you might as well start now!

When you reach the age where you leave your parents' home, suddenly you're going to have a load of responsibilities you probably didn't think about before. You have to make your own meals, wash your own clothes, vacuum your own floor, and (leh gasp!) pick up the room yourself.

Childhood, in its practical sense, is training for adulthood. While being a kid has a lot to do with having fun, think about it. You go to school constantly, your parents probably start teaching you how to do stuff like mow the lawn, etc. The more you pound this process, the easier it will be for you to pass through that interval between stages of your life.

If you're capable of doing it on your own, then do it! You might as well prove to yourself that you can be an adult!

  2. So right, Than, so right. I'm not an FL, but I still see it.

And if I may communicate something.

Forum Assistants can NOT change titles. I've gotten some PMs about it before, and I assure you that only Forum Leaders and higher can do so. So please, when Than says PM a Forum Leader he means PM a Forum Leader.

Overall, nice soapbox, Than. Couldn't have said it better myself.

    :P Dr. B :P

  3. It seems to me that you don't read the cartoons in the newspapers you pass around...

Eh, neither do I. Hey, I never even touch a newspaper.

Not to slur on your profession.

    :w:

Quite contrary, I pick up the paper more than my parents do. I usually don't have a lot to do in the mornings, so I read the comics.

The three funniest words in the English language: Far Side Calendar.

    Amen.

First of all, yes, a lot of comics aren't so funny any more, like Garfield. However, Foxtrot, Get Fuzzy, and Non Sequitur are funny if you're the sort of person who likes them. Which you aren't.

    I never said that I was. That's why I don't like them. That's why I said so.

You don't have all that much of a reason to complain about comic strips if you read them when you don't like them.

That doesn't make logical sense to me. I have a complete right to complain about comic strips if I don't like them. I wouldn't be complaining otherwise. It's not that I don't like them because I don't agree with their humor, I don't like them because the humor is quite simply poor. Comic strips, generally, are supposed to be comedic. If I don't think they are, then I can say so.

Why do you read those strips if you don't like them?

Because there is the occassional instance where some good humor does flock from them. Reading a morning newspaper, great jokes can spawn from odd places.

And also because I usually have time to kill.

And why couldn't you just say you don't like them instead of detailing why you hate them? No throwing stones in your glass house, Dr.B.

Because then it wouldn't be expressing an opinion, it would just be expressing taste. Essentially, if I was going to give these writers my opinions, these are the kind of things I'd be saying. On the same note, why do people detail their opinions about Bionicle rather than just saying they don't like them? Because they want to express why.

  4. I want to be a paperboy. I'm not 14 yet, and, suprisingly, this entry has made me want to become a paperboy even more.

Believe it or not, I encourage you to go for it. It builds character, really, whether it's an early-riser or an alternate route.

I want to be attacked by animals.

XD I swear, I gained most of my confidence as a kid charging at animals and either scaring them away or scuffling with them. Not to say that I don't run from large dogs or particularly demonic-looking cats, but my fear for them has seriously downsized.

I think squirrells should be jumping on me, mainly because I chase them up trees if I ever see that they have something in their mouth. It's... just what I do.

Makes me wonder if maybe I'd met said squirrel before.

  5. The term 'impossible' is expendable, if you ask me.

As for UFOs, I haven't seen enough solid evidence to convince me that they do exist. All I've seen is speculation based on questionable evidence. That's not enough to convince me that they exist.

I'm not at all worried about invaders taking over Earth, but if extraterrestrials do exist, I don't think they're bent on destruction like MiB and Independance Day seem to portray. Most likely, it's very much the same with our situation, they're interested in information. We stick our satellites into their space, it's only natural that they return the favor.

That is, if aliens exist at all.

And that's a pretty big 'if'.

  6. *sigh* Sadly I can't attend Brickfest, due to my location, but a BZPower T-Shirt sounds top-notch. I'd have to work it out with mumsy dearest (*decides never to say those two words again*).

It'd be pretty useful for any gatherings I am capable of attending, like in the Kansas City LEGOLand when/if it goes up.

It'd be cool if you could get it showing your Member Group, which would be useful for Brickfest or gatherings. Members, OBZPCs, Forum Assistant, etc. That'd be pretty sweet, though that makes the price go up.

Name + Group, though, would be sweet.

And it wouldn't hurt to do a little more displaying of my nerdity. ^^

  7. You can't just do these things normally, can you? It couldn't be "Smeag's Blog" or "Writings of a Smeagol". No, it had to be "Thou Vast and Venerable Head". >.>

Well, a decent first entry. A nice little introduction.

Yes, yes, I'm the guy who always gets beaten to the punch by the other assistant in closing topics.

    And don't you forget it.

Well, good luck with this, Ishmael. :P

    Dr. B

  8. Man, I'm loving this battle. It's very fun to see Pareh strike back at Dyron, and then for Dyron to display The Nuva's power by trying to dipose of Pareh. I'd jump in there and help him, but me and Raze are about to fight.

He hasn't actually tried yet. He's just been playing around.

    . Dr. B .

  9. Hey Dr.B? Could you give us a description of how Mythias looks?

I haven't really worked out how Mythias looks. I'm thinking he probably wears a fair amount of gold-type armor. As for body color, mask shape, etc. I'm not positive.

Yeah. Dwin will be sure to attack Dyron. Dwin has a grudge against him. Yeah. Read the posts on that era and you should figure it out easily. So is it a tank like thing?

    Think a hovercraft/tank combination.

    On steroids.

I was thinking that near the end of the battle, Pohaka could fight battle with one of the big baddies (Zyrul, Mythias, etc.). In the end I was think that _______ could send a powerful blast at Pohaka, not killing him, but completely destroying his armor and mask.

I'm just going to tell you this, your best bet is probably Thunderbird. Zyrul and Mythias would kill you right off the bat without even thinking twice. K-1 and Kyshim have yet to have their survival confirmed, but Kyshim most likely wouldn't kill a Rebel, being utterly focused on the Loyals at the moment.

And you don't even want to know what K-1 would do.

I'm not attempting to discourage you from trying, but it's risky.

The reason being, is because I have a new look planned for Pohaka, and I need a way to get rid of his old armor.

Mightn't, since it's a war now, the Rebels rearm themselves in a forgery?

The Academy RPG is practically dead only a few ppl are on it.

And I'm getting bored waiting for Dr. B

You'll see why I've been gone for a long time in my next entry, which I'll be posting in a little bit.

    :) Dr. B :)

  10. Wahoo! This can be pretty cool

Why did Mathias and Zyrul become enemies? I must have missed that one...

What I'm willing to tell you is that Mythias and Zyrul were once a partnership. They came up with Toa Metamorphosis, but Zyrul wanted to use it for his own purposes, in which Mythias was interfering. Zyrul attempted to kill Mythias off, but apparently failed. Mythias has taken side with the Rebellion to cause Zyrul's downfall and to employ his own wicked plans.

Wow. That provides some deep insights into what is going on. Ooh ooh! Can I showdown agains Dyron and his vehicle? Can I smash it to bits? j/k. I would like to showdown agains Dyron though.:smilehaunu: ~GDoT~ :smiletahunu:

You can try. But I'm not sure you'll want to once you see the vehicle he's in.

And I hope K-1 dies. I like Kyshim a lot more. Nice quotes. Can't wait for more!

I don't know, I grow really attached to my minions. I have some heavy attachments to both Kyshim and K-1. It was difficult deciding which would die. K-1 would be very interesting for later battles and as a sort of Rahi General. However, it'd be nice if the Rebels had a good General. I guess you'll just have to see.

Hmm, so it will be either Kyshim or K-1? This should be interesting.

    The one that dies. :P

    You'll see.

This is going to be fun.
