  2. Those of you who know me know I'm a huge Halo fan. And you can't love Halo without knowing (and loving) Red vs Blue, the hilarious comedy series from Rooster Teeth Productions. I've been a fan and sponsor ever since Season One, so when I heard they were going to be at AnimeBoston this year, my interest was piqued. Then I read that Trocadero, the band that does the music for RvB, would be doing their first concert in three years at a club in Cambridge and I knew I had to go. It just so happened that Omicron was going to be at AnimeBoston too, so I'd get a chance to hang out with him again and introduce him to an awesome band. So I drove up there on Saturday, hung out with him and another friend of mine, AJ, who's not a BZPower member, and went to the show last night. The other bands weren't that great, so we played some pool while we were waiting for Trocadero to come on. It caught on, and pretty soon a bunch of the RvB fans were in there too. Gus (Simmons) and Joel (Caboose) even joined us and chatted a bit (mainly heckling our inability to play pool). Then it came time for Trocadero to take the stage. Everyone else crowded in to get a good spot. I must say, the show was fantastic. They played a number of songs from RvB, including Blood Gulch Blues, A Girl Named Tex, Vale Deah, Alien Champion, and two of my personal favorites, Steady Ride (Gun Metal Green) and No One. They also did Crazy Zoo (the theme song from Stranger Hood), covered Mad World (you might remember it from the Gears of War commercial from last winter), and a couple other songs that haven't been released (that I'm aware of). All in all it was an awesome time. The weather was great, got to hang out with some friends and meet a few Red vs Blue fans (as well as a couple of the creators!). I'd do it again in an instant if I heard they were doing another show like that. Great fun. (Two blog entries in two days? What is the world coming to!?)
  3. Yeah, I talked to Gus and Joel a little, and got them to sign my DVDs and Trocadero CD. Omi and I (along with another friend) went to Trocadero's show last night in Cambridge, which rocked. But more on that later. Omi can think whatever he wants. The chances of me allowing him to implement his plans, however, are zero.
  4. I'm posting this entry from Omicron's computer, because he won't let me hook mine up to the internet. It's ok though, when I get home I'll ban him or something. So, I'm here at Anime Boston for the day. I never knew there were over 12,000 people obsessed with it enough to come to Boston and dress up like characters from shows and games. Omi has one of the better costumes, but that just means he has too much money and free time. Not my kind of thing, but if they want to do it, they can go right ahead. Rooster Teeth was there, which was the main draw for me. I got my DVDs and Soundtrack signed, awesome stuff. Well that's it for now...
  5. It's time for RPG Contest #5. We've settled down a bit for this one, following pretty much the same format as last time. Smeagol will be helping out a bit more than usual, since I'm pretty busy with work and class. Feel free to direct your questions to him. There is, however, one announcement. The next RPG Contest (#6) will feature a theme, similar to RPG Contest #3. So if you want to enter an RPG without a theme, you had better start typing. If anyone has any ideas, questions, comments, etc, for or about the theme in the next contest, or anything related to RPG Contest #5, post it here or in the Contest Rules topic. Happy role playing!
  6. I've been meaning to add an entry here for about three weeks now. As most of you know, I am attending college right now, but after this past winter break, I did not go back to campus. Three weeks ago, I began an internship at Hunter Douglas, make of window coverings. I work in their IT department, configuring computers, maintaining servers, and doing general tech support. It's not the most exciting job, but it is very informative and pays well. I'm also taking a night course at school one day a week. That said, working full time and still going to school doesn't leave a lot of free time. Don't worry, I haven't abandoned BZP. But I have a lot of other things to do, so don't expect to see me as much. Anyway, that's been most of my life these days. I've been trying to get on Xbox Live more often, I played some Halo 2 this weekend to try to get a Beta Spot for Halo 3, we'll see how that goes tonight. That's all for now, back to the Super Bowl (go Colts!).
  7. If you enjoy reading and think what I talked about was interesting, go for it. It can be graphic at times, both in violence and sexual themes, so it should only be read if you're able to handle that kind of stuff.

    Graaagh!

While I'm sure this was a very upsetting experience, please try to refrain from threats of violence, jokingly or otherwise. And take it easy on the assistant, they're still learning; chances are, they realized they were wrong, but didn't want to back down to make themselves look bad. That's life for you, not fair, but not much you can do.

Just make sure it never happens again, or else...
  10. Sounds like a pretty sweet class indeed. I had hoped the toad was real too. I mean really, how else would it have gotten all the way to Oregon? And that poor goat...
  11. Yes, about ten years ago. It was very good, much better than the movie (which was also good). Only bits and pieces. They were alright. Jaller, I always like the leaders. Genetic predisposition. The gene for brown hair is located on the same chromosome as the one for moderating. Kill the dinosaurs before it's Jurassic Park all over again. Of course. We'll have to see how that goes. Maybe I'll get into the videogame industry.
  12. At the moment, probably Gears of War. Nope. Sorry, forgot to water my money tree today. Ninjo. Any and all banned ones. Seems logical to me. The sound of one hand clapping is the same as the sound of two hands clapping, but only half as loud. I suppose that would be Australia. Generic anti-dandruff shampoo. A quick count puts the number at over 150. The Fellowship of the Ring, Tom Bombadil is a favorite of mine. I'd almost say I prefer The Hobbit to any of the LotR books, almost. You took 'Introduction to Stalking' at your local college? Jeans and a t-shirt. When I'm not wearing contacts. The Fall of Reach.
  13. What, and give up all the mystique surrounding it? I think not. I will say I've been using it for about a decade now, and that it originated from an obscure reference to a popular movie.
  14. Hey everyone, I hope those who celebrate all had a Merry Christmas. Mine was fairly uneventful. As some of you may recall, I got my main present back in November, so there weren't many presents under the tree for me. I got a book, some of the Star Wars DVDs, and some other little stuff. The book, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick, we quickly read, and thoroughly enjoyed, so I figured I'd share my thoughts on it here. The book is the basis for the movie Blade Runner by Ridley Scott and featuring Harrison Ford. I watched the movie many years ago, but it was on network TV, so it was edited. Plus, it's a long movie to begin with, so with the commercials, it was, let's see... Well, let's just say I fell asleep and never saw the end. Philip K. Dick also wrote the novel A Scanner Darkly and short story Minority Report, and since I enjoyed both of those movies, I figured I'd give the books a try. I wasn't disappointed in the least. The book is full of twists and turns, and is almost impossible to predict what's going to happen next. Rick Deckard is a bounty hunter employed by the San Francisco Police Department to track down and 'retire' renegade androids. I don't want to give too much away, but he sees a lot of action in the single day the book takes place during. If you enjoy Science Fiction, and like stories that delve into the psyche of man, then this is for you. In many regards, the action plays second string to the mental journey Deckard undergoes as he ends up reevaluating his morals and beliefs. His interaction with the androids he kills is the vehicle that causes this change, and nearly costs him his life in a few instances. I can't really compare it to the movie, since I remember so little, but some things in the book immediately strike me as unfamiliar, meaning they're not in the movie at all. The changes I remember simplify the story on the big screen version, but the overall idea remains the same, which is more than can be said of many other adaptations. The book is meant for adults, so I don't recommend it for younger children, but if anything I've said interests you, go and give it a read, you won't regret it.
  15. So, over the course of the past few contests, there have been some complaints that it's difficult for new RPGs to break into the top few that keep getting into the finals poll for the past few contests. I, personally, don't see an issue in the fairness of the contest, but I'm all for making as many people happy as possible. So, here's my idea, as it stands: RPG Contest Pro/Amateur System The system divides the entrants into two categories which separates them during the initial stages of voting. To be in the 'Pro' category, the RPG entry must have been in the final poll of at least one of the last two RPG Contests. If an entry won any RPG contest, it also qualifies for the 'Pro' category. This is completely optional, if a member does not want their entry in this category, that's fine. All other entries will fall into the 'Amateur' category. The two sections of voting will go on simultaneously. In all likelihood, there will be very few entries in the 'Pro' section, meaning fewer rounds of voting. Once both have narrowed down the entries, the top five from each will go into the final poll to decide on the overall winners. And that's it. Please note the 'Pro' and 'Amateur' names are temporary, the best I could think of at the time. In fact, everything is still in flux, and I am open to any suggestions for improving it. Do people even want to see such changes implemented, or are they fine with the current system? I want to hear from you guys! PS - GO VOTE in RPG Contest #4!
  16. Halo 3, I'm more of a FPS fan than a RTS fan. Plus, I want to see how the Master Chief saves the univers. And yes, back then, most of the staff volunteered by asking Dimensioneer.
  17. I'll always be a Premier Member. I bought a lifetime membership from the beginning of when they were offered. So I the event that I ever retire I will still be Premier. 18. Funny, cheapest one I could find on their website was $600. Even if it was $250, I doubt it was a name brand, or that it has as many features or as good a picture quality as mine. Are you sure it wasn't a tube? Oh well, I'm happy with what I have.
  19. I'm not sure what you mean, I usually say 'thread,' not 'topic.' Um, I can only have so many catch-phrases, but I suppose if I had to pick something I say a lot it would be, "No worries."
  20. Woohoo! It's the obligatory RPG Contest Blog Entry! So, in the last contest, you guys complained a lot. I decided to listen to you for the most part: no more theme, longer entry period. I hope you're all happy. I know a lot of people (myself included) are dealing with the end of the school term, tests, projects, finals, etc. But hopefully you should be done with that in time to get an entry in on the 21st. Also, voting will likely be a bit drawn out since people will be in and out around the holidays; I want to make sure there's enough time for everyone to vote. And we have a little (ok, BIG) surprise coming up for you guys, but you'll have to wait to see what it is. So, as always, questions and comments are welcome. PS - If you have no idea what the heck I'm talking about, click here!
  21. You should read more of my blog. The answer is, 'Of course I have.' Teamwork, for sure. That's why I always will enjoy LANs more than Live. It just makes it so much easier to work together to get flag caps, oddball or hill time, etc. Hmm, that's a tough one. I guess I'd have to say the sheer breadth of the Halo universe. You can play the game and only see one series of events at one point in time, but there's so much more going on elsewhere, which shows in the books and the graphic novel.
  22. "It's not that life's so short, it's just that you're dead for so long." Super amazingly bad. Give me a pistol is Halo 1 and I'll three-shot you though.
  23. "Thread closed." There's no such thing as coincidences. Those scars are figments of your imagination.
  24. No. Yes, a cat and some fish that live in our pond. Sure, I did start the forum because I enjoyed RPGs so much. A couple times, not too often though. The world may never know.
