  1. I think we also have to take into account the state of LEGO as a company back in 2001. It was still in a downward spiral so when the Bionicle line started the company was looking for a win. It was willing to take huge risks to try and salvage what it could. When G2 came out, and even now, LEGO has established licenses and other brands to profit off of and don't need to take those big "Do or Die" type of investments. They can try and bring back a theme like G2 and if the numbers don't add up there isn't a loss to the company to discontinue it like what would've happened back then.
  2. This thing is awesome. You've managed to get so much detail into it. While like others have said that the brown leg seems somewhat smaller than the green, working with a limitation of pieces you've still done a great job doing it.
  3. I'd have to say season 1 is still my favorite. They had better RD and Scootaloo had a bit more to do in it.
  4. I definitely like the extended one better. They should use that one for like, the season openers and season finales. That would be awesome.
  5. I read that article as well, and it makes a lot of sense. The Love part of it is still pretty prevalent but the more i think about it, tolerance isn't really taught in the show. Like at all.
  6. Welcome to the herd. As for my favorite brony song currently, it has to be "Breaking Bonds" by Acoustic Brony, PrinceWhateverer, and a whole lot of others. Though I'll still take "Loyalty" as my absolute favorite.
  7. Well that doesn't seem as bad. Just hope you find it in your heart to spare Scootaloo. I actually just started another project rather recentlyThe Bounty Catching, Freedom Dreaming, Winged Wolf Phenomenon. It's been taking up a rather large chunk of time now, but it's fun to write. You write anything else before?
  8. I haven't heard anything at all about season three yet. And I've never been a huge fan of "let's kill everyone off" but I'll give it a shot when you write it.
  9. Now I want to watch epic Wub time again. That was quite the touching comic.
  10. We did all see that coming a while ago solely based on the fact they are competitors. It is a shame none the less, but I never did have much faith in it. On to a different topic though, anyone else hear of Griffin the Griffin and Ballad of Echo the Diamond Dog? Both are fun stories of Human in a not so perfect Equestrian world. Pretty much Equestria is nice, but all the surrounding areas not so much. I highly suggest looking into them if you're into fanfics. (just a heads up there is some cursing and violence, but not constant)
  11. Nope. Part of the fundamental message of FiM was that a girl can be anything--athlete, artist, student, etc.--and a male cast would sort of make that message useless (upside: no more CMC). Now, I know that's not the theme that you were talking about, but it's an important one nonetheless. We can keep a message of tolerance, and it would likely focus on such fare as treating women as equals and how racism is bad. Similarly, consideration for others would stay a good theme. Friendship doesn't fly too well with older boys (e.g., 9-12) and is typically seen as the topic of preschoolers' shows. Also, 7-12-year-old boys want more action and fantastical conflict a la saving the world. We'd be stuck with adventure after adventure and lose all of the great slice-of-life stories. Plus, little boys often prefer winning to bonding with teammates and competitors, so episodes "Sisterhooves Social" would have been dismissed as insufficiently fulfilling. Now, I'm biased. Half the fun of the show is that it's so girly!~ BioGioI would have to disagree with you on some parts. We could easily have a cartoon that shows boys can be anything either, because there is still a lot of stereotypes against men as well. That's half of the reason why Bronies are awesome. The Tolerance message can easily be explained (like you said) as well. Friendship would be a little trickier, but could still happen. For instance I know my friends and I are a bit more rowdy and rude to each other, but no one else can do that. 9-12 year old boys "friendship lessons" just would focus on different topics than the MLP. And while they are more into the adventurous shows, it wouldn't be that hard to make the slice of life episodes still. And adventure doesn't have to be running around and saving the world, the would just have to be more down to earth adventures that you could have, maybe with the encouragement of imagination. The same way younger girls can enjoy those slice of life episodes, younger boys can too. Saying they can't is the same stereotype as "girls like pretty rainbows and shows about princesses and boys like adventures and explosions." The exact thing MLP strives to get anyway from.
  12. If you don't mind a little Dark, I would suggest the End of Ponies. Its a pretty good story, a little wordy at times, but still a good read. Plus it being over 500,000 words means it'll kill a decent amount of time. My Little Dashie is a classic to read, pretty cliche but still a fun read. Um... I know its a little late but the whole Fallout: Equestria story as well (though I haven't gotten a chance to read it yet). Two other stories that I've been reading recently and that are still ongoing are The Ballad of Echo the Diamond Dog and Griffin the Griffin. Both are Human in Equestria stories, but they have a nice twist that hasn't been done before (at least not when they started up). I'm not much on the blogs or anything, but for music Mandopony and Princewhateverer are both fun to listen to.
  13. I've considered going to BronyCon, but its a couple hours drive from where I live, and I don't have the cash to stay at a hotel or anything. That and I'd need an excuse for my parents as to why I was going to North Jersey for a couple of days. They don't know I'm a brony yet, and I intend to keep it that way for a bit longer. As for some of the meet-ups, I may go to some of them when I get back to the States in a month, but for now I still gotta finish my semester abroad.
  14. So everyone, now with the off season between Season 2 and 3, does anyone have any plans pony related? I for one am working a couple fanfics right now, about 2 or 3 chapters are up in each, and have a plan for a 3rd. That and I plan on getting a custom plushie. What about everyone else?
  15. Yes, yes it is. As for abridged series, I've never bothered watching them. My friend did of other shows and they just seemed a little annoying to be.
  16. It is actually now fully funded, and any extra donations will be going towards expanding it. Its original idea was to be a Bronycon documentary, but if they get extra cash, they are going to expand it to be more encompassing. They have details over at another website that talks about ponies on a Daily basis.
  17. This is pretty awesome. You pulled off the Bionicle Pony look very well I love how you incorporated their weapons into the pony forms, and the Bohrok really look like parasprites. I have to say though, the first thing I looked for was a cutie mark, and all the Toa Mata are blank flanks. I had a nice laugh about that one. Do you plan on doing any other toa teams as ponies? Cause I think that'd be an awesome little side project if you had the free time.
  18. There's an official one? The one I have always used was on an unmentionable art site (at least I think it is, so I'll leave it at that) But I do like the pony. He has a nice mane? Oh and the full version of "Love is in Bloom" is now up. Just listened to it, and I must say i was pretty good, if still a little shorter than I would've liked.
  19. Apparently, Love is in Bloom has an extended version to it, but no one knows when it will be released, probably with the DVD or something. I can't to hear it all though. With the whole brother thing though, I didn't really get the vibe of her just discovering about having one. Sorta like when they introduced Sweetie Belle, never mentioned before the relation until the episode after it aired. I'm was just excited about DJ PON3 showing back up, with red eyes. That and Lyra finally having a line.
  20. Part 1 was a little slow in my opinion, but I aboslutely loved Part 2. Favorite episode. EVER. So much shout out to the Brony community in the entire finale.
  21. Favorite background pony huh. I'd have to say Lyra is probably my favorite, and then in close 2nd comes Derpy. Oh yea, and the new episode, I liked it a lot. I really enjoyed the opening with Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle doing everything under the sun with the newspaper. The only thing I didn't like was how all of the older ponies treated them that incredibly harshly. I would understand being mad, but the way they treated the CMC was just cruel.
  22. Eh, I highly doubt it. I mean the prospect of it sounds interesting, there being another element, but it would be slightly redundant to the rest of the show's back story. As for the rest of the post, it does just seem like a fanfic brain storming list.
  23. Deviating from the previous discussion a bit, I've been reading a bunch of fanfics, and almost all of them had a common theme of Scootaloo being an orphan. It sorta just got me down. Anyone know of a good happy story for Scoots?
  24. I may be back from my spring break in time for the finale!! But I'm going to be missing Pinkie's new episode. Drat. Oh well, lesser of the two evils I guess. As for the finale, I'm both dreading and excited for it. Another summer of waiting for the next season, but an awesome episode to wrap it all up.
  25. My opinion of Discord was that he just honestly didn't care what others thought. He did what he enjoyed to do, which is chaos and disharmony. Just cause everypony thought that was evil viewed him as evil, he just rolled with it. Also, I love how Scootaloo was completely left out of the pegasus episode... she has such a tough life.
