The new forums looks pretty nice, don't they.

Also everything looks more tidy and a little smaller now as well.
I don't get struck by a ton of topics right away which is good.

Nothing else to say really, let the good times roll!

On the better side of the news: SNOW! Heck yes! White goodness has finally delivered me from the dull greyness. *fingers crossed for snow on Christmas*

First of all: LK, I read your blog and I just wanna say two things: First of all I wanna thank you for having me over, and secondly that I was never at any moment annoyed with you (only concerned when you weere hiding in your room)

Now, live from Brickfair, it's VF reporting in. I can just say it is awesome. I talked to official Lego employees and I am hanging out with some of the most amazing people!
Or like Darth Vader said, this is the purgatory for Lego Fans!
I can't write any more...it's just too much to list.

PS: If you guy think Nukaya's squeaking is adorable, you should hear Kohaku

PPS: It has been declared, by the men of the union of manliness, after consulting with Isaiah Mustafa, that Kohaku does squeal in a manly manner!

One quick word of advice before I rush over to the bathroom again:
Don't combine Pasta and Tuna with Doughnuts a chicken-sandwich and orange/chocolate-cookies.
*runs off to great the bowl again*
    Listen to me kids...

I am not a fan of games that get released together with movies to boost sales figures, as a rule of thumb. Production is often rushed to meet the deadline and as such those games are generally infested with bugs.

What a pleasant surprise the latest Prince of Persia was.
The game was released a bit earlier then the movie and the titular prince is not Jake Gyllenhaal, but the nameless Prince from the Sands of time trilogy.
Action takes place somewhere between Sands and Warrior within as far as I know, but that's not important.
While the PoP from 08 was the graphically most beautiful thing next to Crysis to be installed on my PC, it lacked in story and repetitive gameplay and quick-time events.

Forgotten sands had a bit of the same vibe for the first hour where I thought it might drift off into the "you are all alone with nobody around and now you shall jump and run through giant puzzle-rooms". While that is certainly an element present in the game, it is not dominant. There's sections that require spot-on timing, without QTE's. Instead there are deadly traps and later on there's loads of enemies in between.
Speaking of enemies: They are many. In the first room I barely fought 4 of them only to be faced with 20 of them two rooms later. They get easier to dispatch over the course of the game but their number gives off an epic feel. And they give off life, so to maintain health you gotta stick your sword to the baddies. And vases.
I don't want to know how much worth of china the Prince broke in this game.

Also defeated enemies give off points for levelling up. There's 4 different powers to be used during combat, plus three powers that are used during getting around. One is the ability to solidify water, one is the manifestation of memories (as in, "there used to be a stair here" *press ALT* "Oh THERE it is!") and the old-time favourite: Winding back time if you happen to plummet into a pit of spikes. Which happens. A lot.

    Well...it did to me.

Now to wrap this up, I'll just say this thing really ended in an epic way. And by epic I mean EPIC. Fighting a godzilla-sized monster in the ruins of a temple in the middle of a sandstorm that has part's of the Persian temple flying around and you jumping around on them?

    YES

I'm off. Gotta get the sand washed out of my ears.

This is propably one of the most random entries in my Blog yet. And no, I am in no deep psychological well trying to see the bottom clearly, that is reserved for philosophy class and other times. Before you pity me, just know I am quite happy while typing this and this is just me wanting to ask you (who bother to read my stuff here) something that's been bugging me since I was ten:

Do you pay attention to your surroundings and the people around you?

If yes, you certainly know the following kind of people: Grumpy, slow, uninterested, respectless or plain unfriendly. I am sure everyone propably has seen or knows one of those people. The young guy in baggypants at the bustop blaffing at your for slightly looking in his direction. The old man staring you down because you ride a bycicle on the sidewalk or simply because you are still young. The middleaged lady in the bus murmuring something nasty about you because you have a seat and she doesn't, although she doesn't carry any shopping bags or is pregnant or in any kind entitled to ask you to stand up. These people who walk around and if you meet enough of them in one day they can seriously kill your good mood.
I am pretty sure you can relate.

Why are there so many grey-faced, corners-of-mouth-down people? Is there too much bad weather or is it the time we live in I wonder?

Maybe it is time to spread a little joy people. So if you go out on the street the next time and someone looks at you as if he's got a personal cloud of rain over his/her head, give them a smile, just for the sake of maybe meeting someone who returns it

On December 12th, Shire-year 2010 in the 3rd age of middle-earth, 9 companions will set out to view all three LotR-movies in one night.
And we'll have snacks and lots of caffeine for the night until we get out of the cinema around 4-ish.

    Good times are ahead ^^

So this morning I actually woke up before my alarm clock because of some sort of inner unrest or something...which is quite amazing considering that I've spent the last two weeks sleeping in at about 2am, waking up at 6.30, waking 8hours straight and then repeating the process while still working on art and working out in the afternoon...how did I survive that?

Guess I sound pretty self-destructive now...

Toa of Kenn just linked me this:
A TV special on the inner workings of Bionicle

It's a german TV feature on the design and production of the 2008 Bionicle sets from start to finish, including the reaction of the kids that test it.
Get a unique look at the Prototypes.

And to wrap this awesome short entry up: My favourite statement has to be the little boy that says "Before the only had sword, and now there is weapons that can fire...like pumpguns. Bang Bang, you know!"

Explains a lot if you ask me.

There you are, totally immersed in the movie happening in front of your eyes and then this happens:
*Light goes on, a guy is standing next to the controls*

    "Excuse me, everbody!"

    *Stops movie*

"But we've got a problem and we have to clear out the whole building."

But everybody got a free ticket to come back another day...

I just wanted to drop a quick entry here to explain a bit of inactivity from my side here.

School was keeping me busy and right now there are some issues that need to be taken care of. I need to get my routine back and increase my sleeping hours.
    Midnight as average doesn't work...
I keep getting late too school ( not missing classes, but usually I am just in after the teacher arrives and at the frequency I hav now it is really bugging my classmates and me the most).
So I might be off earlier from next week on.
I also got my draft notice from the army, I need to ring up my diving instructor, my wisdom teeth will need treatment and I have some stuff I need to do for friends.
My monthly plans are a lot more complex then I thought...-.-

Dangit...upset stomach and generally being sick.
Would be no big deal, except my work offers a whole new range of possible infections I might have caught...

    Raaaaaagh!

To put a famous quote here:

    DON'T PANIC!

It is far from being a Pandemic. The reported cases are people who have been in Mexico and are already in hospitals for it and they are conducting checks in airports.

Just remember when your mommies all told you: Wash your hands, don't sneeze without putting your hand up and don't touch everything around.
You'll all be just fine ^^

The media needed something else to get hyped over besides the financial crisis.

    Peace out.

Little Update entry. The Lappy is now running on Windows 7 Professional ^^
Already feels good. It's going to be a long night, but totes worth it!

Also if you read this entry you are required to go to a friends profile (not me, somebody from your list you care about) and give them a hug. We need more of those!

So what does VF do in his afternoons...if you say he's drawing geek stuff, that's definitely right but just a part of the activities.
He does play 1st Bugle in a Brass Orchestra as well ^^

And sometime in September we recorded our first CD!

And I thought I'd share a treat with you...you should all know it.

I felt the big big need to put Nano on hold for a day and play through the 2008 Prince of Persia game again, which I only noticed yesterday, I never tried out on my newer PC, where it runs pretty smooth these days.
So, I just finished it an hour ago and again this feeling of a wasted opportunity has struck me.

What I did remember from the first play-through was the time it took to finish.
It is a really beautiful world Ubisoft created here, very innovative too and the basic plot was established pretty well, but why, why is this game so long?
To stop the evil god from escaping you have to fight is vassals. Sure, why not. But each of them six times? With little to no change of the mostly quick-time-event based combat? Ugh.
I combined the boring with the useful and played most of the game today during lecture without sound.
The game is just too long for the content it offers. My fllow aspiring game-designers agree, too.

I did like the twist-ending though. Love wins, at a cost.
But with all the time you invested to get this far, I was really annoyed at it too the first time, when the Prince just decided to undo your hard work of the last 50 hours.
They could have done much more with this new game after the Sands of time trilogy, but no dice.
And no sequel in sight... -.-

Oh well. Let's shelf this thing, put some art down for it *wink wink* and install Mirror's Edge instead
