    its a blog

So I was finally able to get a premier membership. I now have an insanely large collection of Krana, a bold name, a proto boost, and this. Now, I doubt anyone's going to read this, but I'll update it once in a while.

Also, first person to identify which game my blog name, sig, and avie come from wins a cookie. :3

-so finals are approaching, i'm taking 2 ap tests, and so logically the best option is to cram as much schoolwork down student's throats as possible

-I'm taking part in the day of silence this Friday! As a part of my high school's Allies Club, I'm making a more conscious effort to be informed and to take a more active part in promoting equality, so I won't be talking to anyone or interacting with anyone outside of what's required for school for the entire school day. I'm friends with one of the co-leaders of the club, and she explained to me that the purpose of the day was to simulate as best as possible what it feels like when you don't feel like you can talk to anyone (obviously not anywhere close to how it actually feels), so I'm excited and hope that this will be a learning experience for me.

-Also going on the retreat for my high school next week. This is the last one I'll be able to go on unless I sign up to be a student leader on a retreat, but next week's retreat is apparently the amazing, life-changing, super feels-y one. From what I've heard everyone cries. I'm excited because yay feelings!

-not bragging or anything but a 2360 is a good SAT super-score right #totallybragging sorry just excited

-Daredevil. Soooo good. I'm only on episode 10 and I won't be able to watch anymore until this weekend but oh boy wow this is a big step for Marvel. If you haven't been a fan of Marvel's stuff up to now there's still a good chance you'll enjoy Daredevil.

-Speaking of Marvel, AOU in two weeks! I am a fanboy so I'll love it regardless of actual quality (that being said I don't expect it to be anything under great)

-super secret writing project is underway. Stay tuned! It will most likely not be good but I really just want to test the waters with writing and stretch myself, and I think that's a good goal.

-I've been feeling a little odd lately. On one hand, a lot of my relationships with other people have been going really well! My friendships feel like they're in a good place and I'm strengthening some of my newer ones. But at the same time something feels off. I'm not sure if it's one thing or many things, but I think one factor is this creeping feeling that all relationships and experiences are temporary and fleeting- a little deep, but I get where I might be coming from as I lost touch with almost all of my grade/middle school friends of 8+ years upon coming to high school, plus some complex relationship-y stuff once in high school. Trying to make sense of it all but it feels all muddy and unclear. I'll try to make sense of it as best I can but I'll be fine.

-Ending on a happier note- prom is this Saturday! Also the ACT is this Saturday! haha you thought this post was gonna end on a happy note but for real I am very excited for prom! And pre-prom and after-prom and after-after-prom and crashing at a friends place after after-after-prom and jeez who designed this system what even

“Charlie, Eoin, you need to get out of there!”

The mantis cringed at the Captain’s voice screaming through his earpiece, which was more than a little too loud for his liking. He turned to his companion, a fearsome gray lanius who was taking quite a bit of satisfaction from destroying his surroundings.

“But Captain,” Charlie gleefully chuckled as he ripped a control panel out of the wall, “Eoin and I are having so much fun! Such work is indeed its own reward.”

“Speak for yourself, buddy. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- you need a different hobby,” Eoin grumbled. The mantis lifted one of his green claws to the side of his head, adjusting his earpiece as he addressed the captain. “Prior, beam us back anytime. By anytime I mean now.”

Back on The Stardust, Captain Leopold Prior let a small smile shine through, a rarity as of late. It was nice to have another crew member, albeit one who was not human like himself, who shared his wit on this starship, but the incredible responsibility of saving the entire United Federation had dulled his own sense of humor. His fingers flew across the HUD in front of him, pressing various floating buttons as he glanced back and forth between several displays of his ship’s adversary- the Rebel Flagship, an enormous monstrosity that was the cornerstone of the Rebel Fleet.

“Teleporter’s still cooling down, but you’ll be out soon. Boyega, how are the weapons looking?”

Major Thaddeus Boyega was similarly engaged in his own controls in the weapons room. “Burst laser and breach missile fully charged. Permission to fire?”

“Let ‘er have it, try to hit their shield system and their piloting.”

Boyega frowned, always logical and always solemn. “Prior, I don’t believe this is the best course of action at the moment. I’d suggest we eliminate their shields and their mind control system instead.”

Before, Prior would have either dismissed Boyega’s advice with a humorous remark or angrily ignored it. However, the journey to the Federation Base and the current battle had changed his demeanor considerably. “Whatever you think is best. Just make sure to hit them hard.” Nodding, Boyega set the targets of the weapons on his computer and fired.
Outside of the ship, The Stardust’s weaponry let loose. A huge rocket fired from a launcher attached to the hull, followed quickly by three short laser bursts. The rocket hit the Flagship with a spectacular soundless explosion, completely eliminating its remaining shields. One of the lasers missed its target, but the other two hit the part of the Flagship’s hull covering its mind control system, disabling it.

A faint whoosh alerted Prior that Charlie and Eoin had been successfully beamed back from the Flagship. Unfortunately, this was the least of his concerns, as red letters flashed repeatedly on the screen in front of him as sirens accompanied by an automated voice sounded throughout the ship.

    WARNING: POWER SURGE DETECTED

Prior hurriedly attempted to activate the ship’s cloaking function, but to no avail- the system was still cooling down from the last time he had used it. Cursing, he turned on communications for the entire ship so that the entire crew could hear him.

“Looks like we’re gonna have to tough this one out, guys. Brace! Diaz, get ready to dodge.”

Jessica Diaz, the ship’s engineer, was too nervous to reply. Formerly a Federation linguist and expert of alien culture, she was beginning to have some regrets about joining the crew all those sectors ago. But she had been friends with Prior at the Federation Academy, and journeying across the stars certainly had been the experience of a lifetime. She had made numerous new friends and discovered bravery within herself she had never known existed. So she did what Prior said and braced.

The captain could only watch as innumerable small cannons popped out of the Flagship’s hull, glowing bright with energy. At once, they fired, several green bolts flying towards The Stardust. Prior grasped at the manual controls of the ship. Some of the bolts hit harmlessly against the ship’s shields, while the captain managed to evade others. Two managed to find their way to the hull, rattling the entire ship and almost knocking Prior off of his feet. Adjusting himself, Prior glanced at the HUD and noticed with alarm that the shield operation room was on fire.
Dr. Jones attempted to get up, barely managing to straighten himself against the wall. The dazed engi looked around at the destruction before him. Several fires blazed around the shield operation room, destroying machinery and slowly lowering the power of The Stardust’s shields.

“Jones, put out those fires, now!”

Jones, usually the cheery sort, found difficulty finding positivity in this situation. “Task impossible, resubmit request at a later time.”

His optimism was soon restored as a door on the wall opened to reveal a zoltan woman carrying two fire extinguishers, one of which she tossed to Jones. He gratefully caught it and, despite not being able to smile, the engi’s voice brimmed with gratitude.

    “Envoy!”

The zoltan known only as Envoy smiled, always happy to see the unassuming engi. However, as there were more pressing matters at hand, she turned back to the fire and began to spray the extinguishing agent it as Jones did the same, slowly but surely putting out the inferno.

As the fires began to die down, Envoy glanced over at Jones to see that some of his mechanical plating was charred. Even then, the engi was still attempting to repair the damage done.

“Jones, you’re being ridiculous. Get healed up.”

“Negative. Adequate health to continue repairs.”

“Get to the medbay or those burns won’t be the only thing hurting you.”

Jones nervously looked up at the zoltan. “Meaning acknowledged,” was all he said before he sprinted to the medbay surprisingly quickly for someone who was injured as Envoy chuckled to herself.

Once inside, Jones relaxed as the medbay’s healing nanomachines flooded through his body and repaired the damage done by the fire. Also present was fellow engi Starger, who had sustained damage from the second bolt of energy that had hit the ship.

Starger was a bit more cynical than Dr. Jones. “Mission progress = satisfactory, agreed?” he muttered sarcastically.

If engi were able to create facial expressions, Jones would have smiled. “Hope is valuable in such situations. Compensation for when ability is not adequate.”

Back in the pilot’s room, Captain Prior glanced at the display that showed the various systems and subsystems of the Rebel Flagship. Just as in The Stardust’s shield room, fires blazed in the Flagship’s systems, but to a much greater extent. It had sustained quite a bit of damage, more damage than any ship should be able to. But if the readings before Prior were correct, the ship’s hull integrity was very low…

He didn’t want to believe it until he saw the Flagship crumble with his own two eyes. “Boyega, give me some good news on the weapons!”

“Lasers and missile almost fully charged. Give me the order and I’ll fire.”

Prior knew that he should give the order now, but his old ego crept back and he took a moment to admire. Admire everything that had come before, all that his crew had accomplished. All brilliant, brave, and more than any captain could have asked for. He would certainly miss the adventures of The Stardust, and yet he knew that he would carry all that he had gained from their journey for the rest of his life. And so he spoke.

“Let’s blow ‘em out of the water, Boyega. Open fire.”

In reality, the missile was all that was truly needed. Regardless, both it and the laser bursts struck the hull of the Rebel Flagship until it could take no more. Fissures appeared throughout the enormous ship, numerous explosions bursting and almost immediately extinguishing themselves in the vacuum of space. Hunks of metal flew in random trajectories from the ship as it was consumed by the heavy damage it had sustained, until finally it shattered completely into several pieces.

It was over. The Flagship was destroyed. The Federation was saved.

There were a few seconds of silence. The crew of The Stardust stared at the screens in their rooms, dumbfounded at the spectacular scene of destruction before them.

Then cheers resounded through the communications mixed with the laughter of those who had faced death and had done something truly great as a result. Listening to all of this, Prior simply leaned back in his captain’s chair and smiled.

Thanks to the valiant effort of:

    The Stardust

    And her successful crew:

Prior, Diaz, Boyega, Jones, Charlie, Eoin, Envoy and Starger

The Rebel’s flagship was destroyed, throwing their fleet into chaos and ensuring a Federation victory

A quick, hasty thing I wrote after my most recent return to FTL: Faster than Light. I had decided to return to it because I was bothered that none of my high scores were with the Kestrel Type A ship, which being the nerd that I am I consider to be the "canon" ship. So I decided to try again to create the playthrough that would be the definitive FTL game for myself.

The Stardust succeeded pretty well, blowing my other high scores away at 5150 (playing on Normal)- 300+ more than my previous high score. In addition, one of my crew, Dr. Jones, claimed the spot of Most Repairs at 55. Also I managed to collect exactly 2300 scrap, somehow.

More than that, I connected with the crew in a way I haven't in a while, which is something that really got my creative gears going and will hopefully help me with a more ambitious original writing project that you'll see some of soon.

Now to destroy the Flagship with the three ship types with which I have yet to beat the game...

Today is my birthday! Not gonna lie, it was pretty great. Today was the second and final day of a school retreat I took, which was honestly one of the most inspirational and transformative experiences I have ever been on. Stuff got deep and I got a lot of things off of my chest that I had been keeping in, plus I made new relationships and strengthened those that I already had. It was a day full of love and smiles and hugs and happiness and I just love people.

So, overall, one of the best birthdays I have ever had the pleasure of living.

Much love to you all. =D

Decided to handwrite a letter for my closest friend (whom I have mentioned a few times before) whose birthday is tomorrow. It is long, rambling, and dorky, but it is the best present that I can think to give her so.

So trying to model a hat for Team Fortress 2 again, seeing how it goes. Here's my progress so far:

    Pic 1
    Pic 2

Making a fedora-thing for the Engineer still. I think that it's pretty good so far; maybe it could use a few tweaks. I'd be glad to hear other people's thoughts on it so far.

Side note: is there anyone here who can texture? Out of curiosity.

some days stuff seems super swag and nice and cool

but sometimes everything is complex and it's hard to tell what's right and wrong and up and down

why does the world have to be such a complex place sometimes

i'm kind of talking about my personal life and society as a whole

sometimes i wish stuff was a lot simpler

because sometimes (a lot of the time) it's so complex that it's overwhelming

once again that's with societal issues and whatever personal jazz i've got going on

nothing here just ranting move along

(edit: this is not directed toward any particular individual or group or idea or anything really, this site or otherwise. just rambling)

I never thought I would see this day come! And if it ever did happen I didn't think it would mean this much to me but it does. BIONICLE is back, at least for the time being, and I am incredibly hyped.

The fact that we're bringing back something akin to the quest for the Masks of Power is nice. Going back to the roots of BIONICLE is probably a good idea, but I still sincerely hope that this is a reboot and not a continuation, mainly because the latter would be too confusing to incoming fans (among several other reasons).

"Happy and nervous too -- the return is a big deal, and you really want it to succeed, because you only get one chance to bring something like this back."
-Greg Farshtey on BIONICLE's return, LEGO Forum

    Totally feel on that one.

EDIT: actually kinda interesting reading some of his replies on this stuff, 10/10 would recommend

if you are ever feeling depressed please please PLEASE PLEASE talk to someone because that is much better than keeping it inside of you and letting it fester

he went to my school, was a junior just like me. he was a pretty happy guy on the outside. i never would have guessed there was such a darkness inside of him

the worst part is that i didn't even know him that well and i can't help imagining what would have happened if i had taken the time to know him

i realize not many people will see this but i wanted to get it off my chest. may his soul find peace

we were never meant to carry our burdens alone. love others. know for a fact that they love you. be excellent to all who you meet.

    i love you all.

So a few days ago my Steam account got hacked. Not a particularly fun experience. Was locked out for a few days, and I almost had my TF2 items taken from me.

Luckily enough, Steam Customer Service was able to get me my Unusuals and Pro Killstreak Southern Hospitality back.

So just be careful what links you click on, people. Stay safe out there.

So I finally nabbed Pokemon X for my birthday (which was on Thursday: happy birthday me!).

However, the cartridge doesn't work. The 3DS won't read it.

That makes me just a little bit annoyed.

So we're heading to Gamestop today to get a replacement today. Hopefully nothing goes wrong...?

    Hi everyone.

I was thinking of taking up photography as a hobby and creative endeavor. Can anyone suggest some good cameras/equipment to use?

The 30 Rock season finale is on Thursday. Somebody hold me. =( Great series with what's shaping up to be a great ending. I'll miss it.

Anyways, "A Goon's Deed in a Weary World," the most recent episode, really could have functioned as a series finale in itself. It's got the classic 30 Rock humor, but there were some heart-touching moments too. No time to write a sufficient review now, but I'm waiting anxiously for Thursday.

When people tell me the world is ending tomorrow, Mayan-swer is no.

People are making apocalypse jokes like there's no tomorrow!

    *rimshot*

...And that's all I've got. I can spend my final hours looking back on all of the glorious puns I've made on this Earth. If anyone else wants to take a stab at this, go for it.

Some new stuff! Woo! Check out my latest Hero Factory fan art here.

And for a HUGE-ish bio on said character:

    ---

    Name: Tobias Gene

History: Tobias Gene was created as a 2.0 Hero sometime between Mission: Ordeal of Fire and Mission: Savage Planet. He was created at the same time as Sydney Ace; after their creation, both were assigned to train as rookies under Delta 12 team, lead by Cedric Talon. The two heroes developed a sort of kinship, and became close friends.
During Mission: Hunter's Rampage, Delta 9 and it's rookies were sent with several other teams to subdue the villain Core Hunter in Makuhero City. He had already disabled several heroes, not to mention murdering several civilians. Talon and Gene took on Core Hunter, while the other veterans of Delta 12 and Ace attempted to save civilians from a burning building set on fire by Core Hunter.
At one point during the battle, Talon was heavily injured and Gene had an opportunity- the chance to kill Core Hunter, and ensure that he would never pose a threat to anyone again. However, Gene hesitated, letting Core Hunter escape and kill 5 more heroes before finally being subdued. Ace, on the other hand, managed to save the civilians and her teammates through some very quick thinking and reflexes.
As a result of M:HR, Ace was promoted to a full-fledged hero and out of Delta 12. Gene, however, stayed as a Delta 12 rookie, which made both heroes quite sad.
Gene became much quieter after M:HR. The guilt of not preventing the deaths of heroes and the heartbreak of being separated from his best friend had taken its toll on the rookie. However, the trauma may have unlocked potential in Gene: he began to show prodigious skill in the field of technology. This showed itself when Gene successfully disarmed a thermo-nuclear bomb set to detonate in Mekron City in mere seconds. (Strangely enough, the culprit was never caught.) In addition, Gene appeared to pay incredible attention to detail, often seeing what others could not.
As a result, Talon was approached by Vic Tory, head of communications of Hero Recon Team. Tory suggested that Gene be promoted to a full-fledged hero and become part of the Recon Team. Talon approved, although not without a fair share of reluctance.
As if by fate, Gene was assigned a familiar partner in Recon Team- Sydney Ace. Both were overjoyed to be reunited, and began completing numerous cases together.
Gene was given an armor upgrade for the Breakout. However, before him and Ace could be assigned a villain to track down, evidence was found connecting Mission:
Hunter's Rampage to the bomb in Mekron City. Gene and Ace are currently investigating this.

Abilities and traits: Gene is prodigious in the area of technology, and is able to interact with almost any computer or interface. Also, he pays very close attention to detail, seeing clues or formulating tactics that others often cannot. Gene is also quite battle-able.
Before Mission: Hunter's Rampage, Gene was a cheerful, enthusiastic rookie. Most of the time he was calm; he sometimes cracked jokes to lighten the mood, though. Gene was a generally friendly, social, and kind person.
However, guilt from M:HR and separation from Ace changed Gene. He became quiet, usually not talking unless spoken to. Also, he was less social, and often kept to himself.
Gene's promotion to Hero Recon Team and reuniting with Ace served as a major morale boost. Part of his more jovial self returned; he socialized with other heroes more often and talked more. However, he was more serious, and still lives under the guilt of M:HR to this day.

    And there you have it.

So, in the hectic fray that's been the past few months, I haven't updated my blog much. So a few things.

    ---

I'll start with my graduation from middle school. OK, this means that I'm comparatively young in relation to most members still active. But I have to get my feelings about this off my chest.

Before I start on the actual ceremony (which was a few months ago), I'll say exactly why the implications of this are so serious to me. All of my friends from my particular middle school are going to a different high school than I am. Most are going to one that is fairly close to my middle school; I, however, opted to go to one that is about an hour away from my house. This is because I feel it suits my needs better than the other one mentioned.

However, this means that I have to say goodbye to all of my friends. Spending 8-9 years with the same group of people tends to create strong bonds between you and them. Sure, I can always text them/Skype them/meet up with them, but we know that it won't be the same, which breaks my heart.

The ceremony was very emotional, but surprisingly happy. It started with a mass, then the actual ceremony and presentation of awards, and finally a dance. The last part was, by far, the best. Us students got to be ourselves for awhile, and we had the chance to be happy- in my case, with what little time I had left with them. One particular friend gave me a particularly long hug; she texts me constantly. =P

    ---

Now about Boston. My family recently took a trip to the city for my brother's college tours- namely MIT, Harvard, and Amherst. I won't dwell on those; rather, I'll talk about the actual city itself.

Boston is very nice- IMO, like Chicago with a bit more "green". It's very cultured, and has a very fresh feel. In addition, they make very good food there, especially pastries. =D

    ---

And finally Malaysia. In a few days, we'll be flying there to visit some family (on my mother's side). I sincerely hope I'll be able to keep a travel journal of sorts on my blog here. I'd be posting from my iPhone, but it's better than nothing.

Having been there before, Malaysia is a drastic change from America. It has a very different atmosphere (maybe it's the trees), and it can be significantly hotter. But it's very nice, and I enjoy it every time.

(also a bit too early for Legoland Malaysia D:< )

    ---

So that's that. Hope you enjoyed my ramblings. Still working on releasing TM to the world, and I might try to participate in Flash Fire. (Also, the title will likely be capitalized incorrectly. Any help with that would be appreciated.)

Well, in other news, I've decided to make a return to BZPower by rebooting the Toa Makoki epic originally started by Nausicaa. This time around, the participants will be Nausicaa (who will be active from another website), Neelh, Chibinuva, and myself, with some additional characters as well. I'll put up some character art sometime in the near future, and some more information after that. Hopefully I'll be here to stay this time.

The new forums are okay, but they'll take a while to get used to.

I'm not sure that I'll continue ADU, so its up to you guys to convince me to do so. (And by you guys I mean whichever unfortunate soul stumbles upon my blog)
In the meantime, check these out.

EDIT: It looks like the links I put in this aren't working. So just go to my profile and check out my art.
    Please.
