  1. Okay, you bring up a good point... Alright, you've convinced me, I'll add them from the beginning.
  2. Yeah, they'd be playable. Just not at first. Once they're introduced though, then yes.
  3. Well, what if they appeared in the city without any faction having created them? Just showing up out of the blue and mowing through the city and such.
  4. IC: Plasmafire's eyes narroed as he saw the Katana. "Well... This is a suprise." He stepped foward and looked at Fade. "Fade, I think you should relax. We don't know this story, although it does seem... Pretty bad."
  5. @~JC~, Yes, it takes place in New York.@TSOT, You actually may have hit upon a bit of a plot point there.
  6. OOC: @HD, As far as I can remember, we're all waiting to get started
  7. Alright, I can work it into the near future, as that seems the general consensus. As for playing as a human, I think that can be worked in. Not all humans have been experimented on, there's probably a lot of normal humans left. As for using animals in addition to insects... That I dunno about. The whole point of the RPG is the incredible power of insects, in proportion to their size, and imagining a race of humans with the power of an ant or wasp or beetle. I don't think it's restrictive at all, considering the mind blowing amount of insect species in the world.
  8. Well, it looks like I have a promising start, so I figure I may as well share what I have and see what you think! Please bear with me, as this is an RP I introduced on another, very relaxed site. As such, it's not quite up to snuff yet. Which is why I'm here. INSECTOIDS LOCATION: NEW YORK CITYYEAR: 2034 ADSTATUS: DESTROYED.Welcome to the Insectoids RP! First on the agenda, a bit of background. This letter was mailed to me, I suppose for safekeeping. Future generations need to know what happened here... If future generations survive. It all started out so... Innocently. Okay, maybe not 'innocent' but well meant at least. 10 years ago, in 2024, a group of geneticists started studying insect DNA. The wanted to make the police force of the USA stronger smarter and faster, and thought that the key lay in mixing human and insect DNA. The settled on the ant, a hardworking and nearly unstoppable force in the bug world. They tested it on a few police veterans and it seemed to be working. Then something went wrong. Nobody knows what, maybe they used a different strand of DNA, maybe they just used too much, but... A few of the second generation ANTs turned out... More insect than human. They looked like man sized and man shaped ants. And their bite had the ability to infect others with their DNA. They built an army, their ant brains driving them to take over the city... The scientists scrambled for an answer... And their answer just made things worse. Regular humans couldn't fight the ANTs, so the scientists decided to pick a select group of people and fuse their DNA with an ants natural enemy: Wasps. The process was rushed and flawed, and the same thing happened to the first batch of WASPs that came out. Think of it: Two super intelligent factions, fighting each other in a city... It was bad. Then... Both sides got ahold of their own geneticists. Forced them to do more experiments. They wanted to turn the rest of us into their armies, into cannon fodder. I stayed ahead of them for awhile, but soon I was caught by the WASP army... And I got a look at what they were turning us into. Beetles, of every shape and size. Tanks on legs, strong but stupid. They were cycling through beetle DNA, and for me, they settled on a firefly, I suppose to try and relay messages via flashes. They strapped me to a table, and that's where I got a lucky break... They were trying to train some of the other beetles to take over the process so the WASP scientists could work on other things. The beetle they were training didn't tie me down tight enough. As they injected me with new DNA, my muscles grew and I ripped out of the restraints. I'm not sure what happened next... I suppose that since I hadn't gotten a full dose, I retained my mind, and the other beetles sensed that. I was able to lead them all in a successful escape from the WASP fortress. Since then, others have been joining out cause, we've been growing. The fighting needs to stop. We need to end this war. There are 4 main factions in this game.ANTsThe first Insectoids, ANTs have hard bodies, and powerful, crushing jaws. They also have a hive mind, and blind obedience to the Queen.WASPsWASPs main feature is their wings, powerful enough to carry them through the air. The also have stingers that extend from each wrist which delivers a painful poison.CarapodsCarapods are the freed Insectoids, any human/insect hybrid that has escaped from either side may join. They have a wide variety of skills, but most of them, being beetles, have thick shells and wings.HumansHumans are one of the smallest factions. As the ANT and WASP forces kidnap humans to experiment on, the humans dwindle. They're what you might call the mercinaries of the game. They can join any side they want, either in an attempt to save their own skin, or to try and stop this senseless fighting. They can also form their own groups.ArthropodsArthropods are perhaps the biggest and meanest Insectoids out there. These are people whose DNA has been infused with insect-like species, ranging from spiders, to scorpions, to crabs, to anything else in between! Nobody is quite sure where they came from, and neither the ANTs or WASPs are admitting to creating them. They seem to be bent on the total anniahlation of the city.CHARACTER SHEETUsername:Character name:Age:Description:Personality:Insect species (Inapplicable for humans):Insectoid abilities (Not necessary for ANTs and WASPs):Weapons:RULES:1. 9. IC: Plasmafire sighed at this new information. "Fade, we don't know for sure that that was the only factor. For all we know, there could have been dozens of other factors, and we just don't have that information. Regardless, in our universe you did the right thing, and that's what's important, right?"IC: Negafire trudged after Nihilo and Hivemind, muttering as he held his wrist. "Great. Going to see the leader of the Coalition with two bad arms... This is not my day."
  10. IC: Negafire started at Hivemind with a look of utter exhaustion. "I... I am going to burn you one day." He turned to Nihilo and asked, in a sarcastic voice, "Bugs like fire, right?"
  11. IC: Negafire glared at Hivemind. "Are you a compulsive liar or something? Cuz you're a horrible actor."IC: Plasmafire cleared his throat. "I have a theory. Fade, in our universe, when you stopped Frigid, was there any moment, no matter how brief, that you considered not stopping her and just letting it happen?"
  12. IC: Negafire slowly picked himself up off the floor, wincing at the pain in both his arms. "How about the both of you quit fighting and we get the kid to Grand Cross. I'm sure he wants to have a talk with her or something."IC: Plasmafire shook his head slowly. "Five months... Five months ago feels like years by now. Ah, the life a superhero, eh? Never a dull moment."
  13. OOC: Okay. BTW, is Plasmafire gonna get a response from X-Calibur?
  14. Okay, just trying to gauge interest for now. What would you guys think about an insect/human hybrid type of RP? I've got a pretty solid idea for it, it would be set in the future, humans are experimenting with DNA enhancement, things go horribly wrong. I'd like to see if I have interest before typing it all up and then realizing people hate it.
  15. OOC: So wait... Since I'm in the plot, could I control altverse characters that I own? Or when you say "if you're not in the plot', do you mean characters not in the plot?
  16. IC: Negafire stumbled out of the portal, still dragging Hivemind. He set her down and collapsed himself, panting heavilly on the floor.
  17. IC: Plasmafire looked at X-Calibur and nodded. "I swear, on my honor as member of the League of Salvation, my universe's Fade is a hero. After hearing everything I've heard since coming here, I realized that he's indirectly saved my life. He stopped his Frigid from taking over, so I never had to die. In a weird, roundabout way, I owe him my life. Thank you for giving us a chance, X-Calibur. We won't let you down."IC: Negafire ducked as he heard a slam outside the safehouse. He looked up and saw a familiar figure sliding across the floor. "Found Hivemind!" He cried, reaching down and pulling her closer to the portal. "And the heroes found us! I dunno how long we can wait for Aquarius!"
  18. IC: Plasmafire dropped out of the air, cancelling the fire around himself. He whispered back to X-Calibur as the walked down the tunnel. "I'm right, trust me. That's the Fade I came here with, I know it. I just hope Stella doesn't try for any more vigilante justice... She'll follow your orders, right? I've never met her in my universe, but she seems like a bit of a loose cannon... No offense."
  19. IC: Almost as if in response, Negaire landed outside the safehouse. He attempted to vault over the window, but forgot for a moment about his injuries. As his body wieght transferred to his arms, he felt his wrist crack, and pain shot through his injured shoulder. He strangled a scream, and fell heavilly onto his knees before dragging himself to his feet. "I'm gonna need to use that new infirmary..." He groaned, clutching his wrist as he walked over to Gap.IC: Plasmafire studied the fire barrier for a moment. He realized that most of the stuff down here actually wasn't flammible, so this fire must have been set by superhuman means. That meant if he could shover the fire away from a small area, it wouldn't spread back in, and X-Calibur could get through. He reached out and used his powers to gently nudge a pathway through the fire. With so much of it for Stella to keep track of, he hoped she wouldn't realize his intrusion. He had to move fast now... He dove into the fire, his firey form the perfect camoflauge. He travelled down the fire until he saw what he was looking for. He positioned himself as close to directly in front of Stella as he could while still remaining hidden, then leapt from the flame, hovering in the air with his arms crossed. "STELLA!" He boomed, trying to sound menacing. "STOP THIS! YOU HAVE THE WRONG MAN, LET THEM GO!" He severely hoped he seemed sufficiently ghost-like...
  20. IC: Plasmafire nodded. "Deal!" He cried just before rocketing into the tunnel. At his speed, it should only take him a couple minutes to get back to the entrance to the tunnels...
  21. OOC: I think he landed in the ditch. That was the impression I got while reading, anyway.
  22. IC: Plasmafire shook his head. "I knew it was a bad idea for him to run off!" He clanched his fists, and his body burst into flames. "Like this, I can probably get there first, at least distract Stella with my dead status. You follow behind me, if we're lucky we can defuse this situation! Sound good?" He wanted to fly out of there right then and there, but knew he needed to wait for any objections X-Calibur might have.IC: Negafire watched the fight below with decreasing interest. Nobody seemed to want to fight him, so he decided to follow Typhoon, try and take out any support the heroes might bring in...
  23. IC: Plasmafire shot upright, looking around in panic. "He probably came down the same way I did, who's he gonna run into? X-Calibur, please help me, my universe needs him!"
