Only a week or two into my premiership and the existence of the House of the Rising Moon, but it's really taken off [the blog] thanks to, well anyone reading this! What d'you think of it? What d'you think I should add in? Do you visit regularly/going to start? Any ideas for entries? The whole blog is for you anyways--speak up!

Why was law made? Easy answer--Law was established to maintain order of the people. Law was made solely for the benefit of the people; it made known necessary boundaries that if obeyed, humanity could potentially live life tot he fullest and safest. Law is made as an assurance for mankind, and should not exist as its own entity.

What ticks me off is that it does. Modern legal study and activities in court aren't about benefit of the human kind, they're about loop holes and technicality. Law has its own vernacular because it exists as its own entity of technicality, which it was never intended it for. Both criminals and model citizens, and everyone in between, at some point in life, apply these technicalities to get what they want, instead of using real humane concepts to govern fairness and the well-being of all civilization instead of loop holes and logic. Sure, it's interesting stuff, but it destroys the modern world, in my opinion, and is the primary factor, ironically, so much crime is still occurring pretty much everywhere. It's a sad world we live, where man turns what they invented to help themselves on its head. If everyone stopped thinking selfishly and thought of themselves a part of the greater whole of mankind, this would be solved.

    Just a thought.

Ohez noez, missed an entry yesterday! Happy birthday, here's two to make up for it.

For yesterday's, I have a question I wonder often. People always are asked, 'What would you do if you could change the world?' Obviously, there's more than one thing I'd change. But say I force only one answer on you. If you could change one thing, and only one thing, about the world at large, what would it be, and why? What's your second answer, and what does the first have that makes it comes first?

This was inspired by the total leap of faith in the Writers' Alliance--Within days of its initiation, twenty members practically dived out of their way to participate in it. Almost overnight, it grew into what may be still months from now a real community of members. Not only will it, assuming it succeeds in its mission, influence all of writing both on and off BZP--which in itself is a truly incredible feat--but it will live as a group of members, banding together for a common cause and belief. It might seem like a small deal, but really that's a powerful, bonding thing.

So pat your neighbor on the back, take a look at the world around you, and appreciate the community you contribute to and the friends that contribute back.

John Lennon left a gift to the world. That's something every human being strive to do. Many would give up their lives, wipe themselves from existence in this world, to leave behind a legacy. John did something more--he left a true gift to a whole world.

Take a moment to look past what he's done, who he is, forget any opinion of the man himself. He swayed world views. People changed how they lived their entire lives and who they were because of him. And what's even greater and harder, in my opinion, he is one of the only musicians to reach ultimate musical perfection. You listen to him, or the Beatles, and you are truly touched. It reaches your soul and pulls out inspiration and genuine beauty held deep within you, in levels you didn't even know you had.

The world is a bit less bright without you, but thinking of you brings a little of that back. Happy birthday.

You might notice that little bit in my sig about joining a 'group that will revolutionize writing on BZP.' Allow me to explain.

I was surfing around BZP one day, specifically COT; I noticed a disturbing, almost total lack of any written works. There used to be a new SS or Epic chap almost every day by some author or another, and now it seems any trace of such activity has been wiped off the face of the earth by the author's deadly enemy, the eraser. The Epics and SS forum show similar signs, in different ways--a lack of review. Fantastically talented authors aren't even aware they have a gift for writing because no one bothers to tell them, and both them and the less experienced writers aren't receiving the comments and criticism they need and moreover want to improve their writing and reach a veteran level. The Critics Clubs of their respective forums are doing they part extremely satisfactorily, of course, but they can only do so much.

I want to put an end to these issues. I want all the writers of the BZPower community to band together and write. I want to form a Writers' Alliance.

The WA's mission statement would be to make writing a genuinely popular, common activity on BZP, to get people the thoughts on their writing they want, and to generally make people fantastic writers.

It's going to based in this very blog, a whole new sect of the House of the Rising Moon. The WA will try to provide inspiration for writing, tips for writing, reviews of written works, and more. And, I assure you, it's going to be fun. No deadlines, no limits, no restrictions. It's going to be creative and lively. And, if/when it's successful, it's going to be a large-scale project. Weekly updates with themes and sub-themes and challenges. Competition. A ton of members. It's going to require the faith and energy of you, the participant, but otherwise you have total freedom, total right of creativity.

Of course, this is just the preview. The full-blown, whole-nine-years actual Writers' Alliance entry, packed full of details and vitamins, will be arriving soon, hopefully within the next week or two. This is going to awesome, so join now, and tell every writer you know!

Got any ideas for an entry you'd like me to write about? Got a topic you feel strongly about you want me to ramble on about for you, or something you think could add to the flavor of the House? Let me know here, I can do it for no extra charge.

Also, guys, seriously--check back here! I'll have an entry up probably daily, almost definitely at least twice a week every week. They'll hopefully be interesting, and if they're not let me know--this is for you! Come back here, advertise the House, even, and keep being awesome. B)
  8. Riisiing Moon
    They're fantastic right?

I mean, what other day can I wake up at 10:30 and think, 'Ah, I missed school--oh wait, weekend!' and fall back asleep for another hour and a half.

Seriously, whoever made these things is a genius.

Anyway, real-blog-entry-#1! My aunt's in town for a few weeks, and we watched Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland last night. We watched the first twenty minutes or so of Edward Scissorhands first--also Burton--before switching to AiW. And man, that man is a genius. It's not downright scary to watch a Burton movie--it's haunting. It's disturbing. Unnatural. Everything seems so...off. My aunt and I may have put it into words, even if it's a bit vague. Everything, in a Tim Burton movie, is always either completely perfect--and therefore anything nonessential is not included--or so close to perfect, but there's a revealing inch away from perfection. For example, in Edward Scissorhands, the houses are small and virtually empty. Every item is used, and every item that wouldn't be used were it in the movie isn't even in the movie. In AiW, dialogue includes only exactly what needs to be said. Colors are so unnaturally vivid and real, and the effect is simply disturbing. Perfection puts us off.

Needless to say, it was a fantastic movie, even the second time around. See it, if you haven't.

So if you got this far, I've got a question for you guys. My premiership purchase, as I'm sure you know, got me a proto boost. What's your guys' opinion on this? Do you think these proto boosts should be handed out for this purchase? Does a member deserve to be an OBZPC for only purchases of premiership? What do you think?
  9. Riisiing Moon
    Yes.

So some time before October 1st, 2010, I bought premiership! Of course, this led to the publication of what's (at least, at present) the House of the Rising Moon. Just a little entry to welcome you to my blog, and say a few things.

    So, welcome!

Well, this is a blog. That means I'm going to talk about things--hopefully, things you guys'll want to know. Things like writing, RPGs, some generic things about me, some hopefully exciting or funny things about the world or BZP, etc. You know, a blog! In the House of the Rising Moon, I'm really going to try and do this for you guys, the public of BZP. Come back here every now and then, tell your friends! Sometimes they'll be some short, funny/interesting little tidbits, sometimes I'll talk for a little while about an issue I'm sure we can all feel strongly about, sometimes it'll be something news-related (on- or off-BZP) you'd want to know--and that's the key words, you want to know it. This is for you, so make it worth your while.

Real entries--not these poser wannabe entries--will be on their way soon, probably on a regular basis, so that's something to look forward to. Graphics may take a bit, as I frankly suck at makin' em myself, so I'll need to blackmail some pals into it. If you wanna offer your services, feel free! In the meantime, tell me what you want to see here, and what you think of the new-and-improved Rising Moon.

So here's my book, titled The Mist, a nut as shelled as I could fit.

The book opens with a madman of unknown language and origin attacking an unprotected slum of a village. A certain rather scrawny boy whose name is yet to be decided escapes with his brother after witnessing the death of his single mother, running to a canyon that is home to a natural phenomenon known as the Mist--a deeply disturbing mist that traverses the expanse of the canyon, from which inexplicable evils arise. The bottom of the canyon is invisible beneath the Mist, and rather than surely forfeit their lives to the madman murderer, the brothers jump the bridge. During the jump, the boy is counseled by the Mist in a sort of incoherent prophetic vision.

The boy awakens seventeen days later in a bar whose inhabitants speak some foreign language--they call him 'Drawa Kutrizi,' a name that he will adopt (the name translates as 'Fox in the Grave'--it's a different story). He knows not the whereabouts of his brother or what insanity the Mist has imparted unto him. Drawa discovers that he is in the Inland, a hellish landscape resting beneath the Mist that acts as the passageway between his own world and this new one, called Aufaire. The blur of the Mist hides away each world from the other, lending to a dual existence. The place is an impoverished slum south of the world of Aufaire--directly north of it is a desert, and the Inlanders arrived at the location after various exiles from Aufaire. The majority died during the passage through the desert, and so the remaining are fighters to the core. Drawa learns the native language, swordsmanship, and magic. He is particularly adept at minor necromancy.

He also learns crucial information to his return--an unprompted visit by the Mist tells him that to find his home world, he must travel to Aufaire and bring a certain 'Hu-Kale' to the Inland. After confiding in a new Inlander friend, Drawa learns Aufaire history and begins his trek through the desert. He discovers that Aufaire is ruled by four kings, and the fifth, the Hu-Kale, was exiled years ago. He recently rose from the shadows of his banishment in an vengeful effort to regain power, and travels as a sort of nomad king backed by a merciless army of conquerors. His reign is small, but rapidly expanding.

Drawa, after several months in the desert, is infuriated by the fleetingness of life--his friends die beneath the scorching sun with each passing day. To comfort himself, he performs an act of magic he later finds has never before been successfully attempted--reviving full human skeletons. He rises five from the dead. All are without memory of their human lives and four are soulless--but the fifth , by some cosmic fluke, possesses a soul and human emotion, and grapples with his own moral dilemmas and inner conflicts. Drawa's army of death grows, and as he enters the world of Aufaire gains living human followers seeking resistance to the oppressive blood-lust of the Hu-Kale.

The Mist, over its five sections--Aspiration, Ascension, Disruption, Dissension, and Descent--recounts Drawa Katrizi's inexplicable arrival in the realm of Aufaire, the growth of his abilities and his followers, his disruption of Aufaire's wars and natural series of events, his eventual death (he's assassinated by his brother, who doesn't know who he's killing)--and replacement by Kamesh, the Living Corpse--and the greater mystery of the Mist and the ominous, archaic secrets of world-encompassing power it veils.

    Thoughts?
  11. Riisiing Moon
So, I log on to BZP a few days ago, and naturally the forums appear. I browse for a bit, head over to my blog, decide to post an entry...I have this nagging sensation tugging the back of my mind. Something exciting that hadn't been around for a few months had occurred...couldn't put my finger on it. A couple minutes of peculiarly pensive pondering and I settle decisively that it must've been that turkey sandwich I'd had that morning--I hadn't had deli in an extended period of time.

BUT SERIOUSLY, welcome back to BZPower, everyone! In my humble opinion, I think this is one of those seemingly insignificant events in life which one's reactions to can say a lot in themselves. Translation--the way you react to an apparently small event as BZP's return can speak volumes about your character, or maybe your current state in life. I for one found this place a lot more, well, boring--since its offlineitude I've been spending a lot more time off the computer, whether that means hermiting (you can verb any noun) in my room over my guitar or socializing. At the same time, in about ten minutes on this dump I reignited a blazing inspiration to write and RP I haven't harbored once during the entire length of BZP's absence.

So, end point, I blog for a few succinct reasons--

    1. To let you guys know that I really loved the days of being so active on here, and you guys all constitute a certain part of my childhood that I'll really never forget--as cheesy as it sounds, it's true, I really will never forget BZP--but my activity on BZP's going to be a lot more limited from now on, due to real restrictions to time which is in turn to sophomore year of high school, and a preference to doing other shtuff. So I'll sitll float around and write or RP or post or blog occasionally, but you won't see me as much as before.

    2. Question for everyone, feel free to answer or not--upon examination, what'd you realize about yourself or your relationship with BZP and its members upon its absence? Its return? Notice any difference at all? Did you care or not to begin with?

In the meantime, this's your friendly neighborhood RM, moving out for good--but no worries to my enemies, I'll be here often enough to get a chance to assassinate me. Bye for now, BZP, and welcome back!

Didn't actually turn out at all as I wanted it to, but I still really love the end result. I may use the Painter again, for some characterization. Lemme know what you think!
  13. Riisiing Moon
A couple of weeks from now, I'll review one or two music albums. First you guys can submit some albums you want reviewed--whether it be because you want everyone else to know how amazing it is, you haven't bought it yet and want to know if it's worth it, or you simply want to get me to hear it--then we'll poll the options once or twice, and then the reviews. So, submit away! Try not to vote for an album someone else already suggested, as that's what polls are for, but of course you can comment on anything anyone mentions.

I'll start by submitting The Wall by Pink Floyd, and Recovering the Satellites by Counting Crows.

It's common knowledge that every January 1st, people like to reexamine their lives and ultimately hope to remodel themselves; to start fresh, in a sense. I just want to take a closer look at that process of reexamination, particularly the reason for its existence in the first place.

The Year Starts Over, So Why Shouldn't I?

This is the most common answer you'll get if you ask a guy off the street why he makes New Year's resolutions. Let's expand on that thought for a moment. We are creatures of time. Whether it be the baby coming in nine months, summer vacation in June, your date this weekend, your test on the 3rd, or your train leaving at eight in the morning, everyone lives a life based off of what the date is and what the clock says. Some might say it's even involuntary; an existence centered around the concept of the progression of time is entirely habitual. We do it because we always have, and as a result we force it upon ourselves. As the Counting Crows, a favorite band of mine, put it--'Now I live in the shadows where light is electric, and time is a number that rests on a wall (Washington Square, off the 08 album Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings, for anyone who's interested).' The self-imposed time-based survival is not even one of complete realism; were it not for the automated clock running itself, we'd be totally clueless.

When January 1st rolls around, the clock starts over again, back to square one. As time-based creatures, when it restarts, out of sheer force of habit, we restart as well--though the decision may be a conscious one, it is not technically our choice to make. We're programmed to do it, we just convince ourselves we're not and then choose to do so anyway. Now, I'm not saying every single normal human being, every single time-based creature is going to go making full-on resolution sand try to completely change themselves, but there is a clear change that resonates with us after the cycle that is the calender recycles and recycles. Everyone feels it, and everyone has a different reaction to it.

Along that line, everyone forces their own form of change upon themselves each New Year's. Around January, gyms undergo a huge spike in income, because an innumerable amount of people resolve to work out. People feel that self-imposed change--and what's stranger still is a lot of people feel that change as, ironically, an external force--and find themselves doing something they may've had no intention of doing before, simply because they're creatures of time, who have convinced themselves they have to change when their time-based reality does.

New Year's is not the Only Climax of the Year.

Now, I'm not in any way discouraging resolution; if you have resolved to undergo some form of what you see as general improvement, by all means go for it! New Year's, however, holds no bearing over a person's lifestyle if he does not wish it to. We may all be living in a time-based reality, but that reality is, like I said before, entirely self-imposed. We are habitual things, but habits can be broken, disregarding the effort you have to put into that (after all, the material goal and the immaterial sense of achievement is generally far greater than the amount of effort used to get there). Once it is an understood absolute that you create your own time and acknowledge that the time-based reality you set on your own shoulders is a weight that you yourself can remove, the concept of resolution at a preset time at a preset location will mean nothing.

In books written by someone other than yourself, a climax is predetermined. A climax will not be on page 73 because you want it to. If you're writing the book, you decide precisely where in the plot to put it. In your own life, there is no predetermined climax; you, as the one with the ability to create his own time, set resolution when resolution is necessary. New Year's is on January 1st; resolution is set to that day only if you fulfill your own prophecy.

Periodically, I'll post an entry with some info on my book in the works. It'll start out vague, and get more detailed with each entry. Let me know what you think!

--The book spans the life of a warlord--but from a personal perspective, not in the context of the war. As such, the book largely revolves around char development, as opposed to heavily plot-based.
--Three primary chars are named Eth, Shi-Va, and a mute assassin-for-hire whose name is TBD.
  16. Riisiing Moon
It's pretty clear I've been notably less active recently--in every forum, keeping up some hopefully potentially really good entries, comments in the House, PMs. I've been weighed down by some major school assignments, and loosing the stress offline, not to mention extracurricular activities.

Can't guaruntee just when I'll be totally back on-track, but I can give a sincere apology. I feel really sorry to anyone I've been letting down, but as soon as I can I'll try to get back up with everything I can. Prioritize, prioritize, prioritize--that's the sad yet realistic lesson of life. A bunch of stuff will come as soon as possible, though, so look forward to it, guys.

In terms of the WA, the entry will almost definitely still arrive on time on Sunday--along with an entry for submission of ideas for a contest! Look forward to that, along with reviews of a lot of your works you've submitted here. The reason I give themes like these, in addition to practicality for you guys on multiple levels, is because I personally really love them, and hopefully in my reviews I can drop you some tips. Everyone enjoys talking about their trade, even more so to people of that trade as well. Obviously, mine is writing.

P.S. Zarayna's trial has been cancelled due to absence of the judge. Death has been noted as a possibility.
