  1. Really? Any possibility you could provide a quote for that? *suspects a joke * Cuz that would be very interesting... and welcome IMT.
  2. As long as you only actually enter three.
  3. Hey, guys, please take note of this edit: [EDIT: BTW, keep the Powerpoint file handy, because I might need to ask the winners to email me the actual .ppt document. I can see that sizing some of the entries so far down will mess up the pixelizations of the black lines. Also, making sure the lines are thick in the big images you give me would help too.] I should have thought of that sooner, sorry. Also, if you wanna help me out even more, you can just link me to an uploaded copy of the .ppt file when you enter. Note that this won't affect who I'll pick to win or not -- it just might affect whether I'd be able to do a good job with the prize avatars.
  4. 1) Typing out a longer name isn't always wise -- brevity is the soul. More concise and descriptive names get the point across faster and save time. Reason I support words like "equiv" and "diff." 2) It's the opposite principle of Voyatoran. Mistika is the correct name, and is shorter, while Voya Nui Matoran is the correct name and is longer. 3) Although your examples of "longer" names were shorter than the short ones. The technical names would be "Voya Nui Matoran", etc. If we went by year abbrev, why not just say 06toran? So not sure the principle fits your examples well. But I can understand the approval of longer things. Obviously it is a problem when people ignore arguments or whatnot simply because they are longer, if they're missing good points. (On the other hand, sometimes they are short on time too so have no choice.) Edit: Also, one problem with TDF-format statements, even as jokes, are that they are often misunderstood and thus create more harm than intended. Personally I usually avoid such things, since the misunderstandings usually outweigh the benefits of the joke. Humor can be better used.
  5. The above is the fullsize version of adult version of a Flame -- the first place winning entry in my last blog contest, where members entered descriptions of would-be Pet Peeves, and I designed the images in Powerpoint as the prizes. That's exactly what this contest is NOT. This time around, you guys get the job of artist. Design a Bionicle style face using the methods I outlined in this two-part guide: Powerpoint Art Guides: ● Vector Art In Powerpoint: Quality, Inexpensive, Easy ● Coolifying With Powerpoint Vector Art I'll pick winning entries (and listen to any endorsements you guys make of other enterers). No set number of winners -- will depend on how many entries there are -- and you can enter up to three different faces. Only winning face per member. Winners will get BZPower-uploaded avatars made from their winning face! These can be masks, or just faces. Heads underneath masks, whatever you want. FREE 60-DAY TRIAL For those few who don't have Powerpoint but want to participate, there is a free trial of Office (including Powerpoint) available here. Haven't tried it but hopefully there's a Mac version too... ENTRY PERIOD Contest starts now and entry period ends on Thursday, May 15, probably at midnight. DA IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS 1) Design a Bionicle-style face in Powerpoint that could look good as an avatar. 2) Screenshot the face you've created (it can be a largish, zoomed in pic as long as it's not screen-stretching. Don't worry about making the pic small enough for av-size, I'll handle that, but you might want to watch how detailed it gets, keeping in mind much small detail won't show up in an avatar). [EDIT: BTW, keep the Powerpoint file handy, because I might need to ask the winners to email me the actual .ppt document. I can see that sizing some of the entries so far down will mess up the pixelizations of the black lines. Also, making sure the lines are thick in the big images you give me would help too.] 3) Upload the image to an image hosting site. 4) Post the image here. 5) If you want you can describe anything about it you want, though try to keep it kinda short. FANCY-SHMANCY RULES 1) Each member can enter up to three faces. 2) Only one of the three can be a winning pic (you can say which you like best yourself). 3) You can recommend others' entries for winning, and I will take it into consideration. 4) Winners ultimately picked by me. 5) Number of winners is not set in stone. TIP: If you can find tricks/methods I didn't include in my guides, I'm a lot more likely to be impressed. (But it's not necessary to win.) BRIBERY PRIZE I will showcase the winners in a blog entry to be permanently linked to in the important entries list here, and showcase the top three winners in a permanent blog sidebar here. But even better, an avatar version of your image will be uploaded to the BZPower image archive by Black Six, and the link provided to you via PM -- giving you an avatar free of offline hosting sites. If BZPower's server is running for people to view your av, they'll be able to. ADDITIONAL INSRUCTIONS Have fun!
  6. Good question, asblue. Yes, if you include a screenshot of the face from Powerpoint, before other editing, and also mention which program you used for the tweaking. I often do that myself in the prog that came with old scanner, Photo Plus, usually to remove a center line error or the like.
  7. Whatever you interpret it as -- it's totally up to you! Usually Bionicle faces are masks. But the Toa Hordika, the Piraka, etc. etc. had their own faces. But it could even just be an elemental creature -- like the Flame creature. Anything you think fits in Bionicle.
  8. Well, the implied argument is that because they don't like the Mistika, they are a mistake. As I say, people are using this one more for pun value than to insult people, but still, the reasoning is the format that "I don't like this, therefore LEGO did something wrong" that sums up taste discrimination, unfortunately. It can't logically be judged as a mistake on LEGO's part based on the taste of one observer.
  9. How do Frisbees get stuck under cars? Can't you just reach under? Splitting in half on the other hand is perfectly normal. In fact, if you wait long enough, the halves form new fullsize Frisbees that split in half, until you've got a whole plague of Frisbees. Happens all the time.

    Contest? Contest?

Adv -- I meant, people enter large pics of the faces they make, and I turn the winning pics into avatars and upload to the BZPower image bank. (Or they could make their own avs and the winners would be uploaded still.)

    Contest? Contest?

BTW, I think the biggest argument against the vehicles right now is, where in the storyline would they be said to exist? A vehicle in Karda Nui like that might beg the question, why aren't the Toa using it? It's harder to fit into official right now than weapons. Still, best alternative idea I've seen. I might be launching the blog contest this week. B6 has apparently given me approval for the prize idea, although he was vague about it. It would be that I would make an av for the member out of their winning face, and upload it to the BZPower image archive, so it would never go offline (unless we were offline, in which case you couldn't see posts anyways). Likey?
  12. okay, remind me if I don't do it by Friday this week, Adv. :)

    Contest? Contest?

That's definately a good idea. Yes... hmm... okay, I like that one about as much as weapons... Hm.
  14. I agree, a Tahu do are very silly1! [random stream of emoticons censored]

    *sad*

Well, for future reference, don't ever delete anything -- archive them and send the archive to your gmail account. You... do have one, right? That way if you archive the wrong thing, you still have it in some form. All of which might make you feel even worse. But yeah.

    Mistika I

He said he's being misleading and cruel, remember?
  17. Good to hear the update. Hope things go well from here.

    Mistika I

They looked it, anyway... Only actual organic masks so far were Inika. Hope is pretty much always deceptive. I make it a point never to hope, never to expect, nuttin. So I'm never really disappointed. Usually pleasantly surprised. Though I personally thought the Mistika would have been better with armor and masks that resembled the Mata/Nuva forms as much as the Phantoka's. *gets ready for chorus of HE'S A PURIST GET HIM*

    How'd that happen?

    Contest? Contest?

Hm, a short story. Nah, that would turn this into an SS contest which is a headache to judge. I wish though -- that would be fun to read about, heh.

    Contest? Contest?

My thinking on weapon vs. character for the record is, character contests have been done before in Bionicle -- a weapon contest hasn't yet. Also, there would be a text-only category and categories that allow images in addition to the basic explanation -- I'm thinking probably 3 categories total -- description, art, and MOC. Since lumping art and MOCs together is probably unfair. Edit: Adv -- interesting idea... But seems too complex since it would be two in one...
