  1. At first I thought the topic title was 'Irish Matoran'; I was hoping for some sort of Matoran leprechaun or faerie. :PI really like the sword; I never thought of putting those two together to make a more complete-looking weapon. The color scheme's a little scattered with the silver and the light gray, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do at certain times. For a little build, this is nice. :)

  2. I set an email alert on replies for all my MOC topics; while I'm waiting for those I just...I don't know, do things. Because I'm not really active on BZP, it's not like I sit there staring at the screen, mentally begging for someone to drop by. I just kinda put up what I have and leave it be for awhile.

  3. Wow. As someone said on my giant LDD MOC, this must've really taken some patience - the fact that it's Technic, too, is a little outstanding.I like the fact that you gave it an actual windshield the most. It's nice to see those on Technic/Bionicle/HF-sized vehicles. It's also kinda hard to believe that this thing is under 1000 pieces...:P Nicely done!

  4. Hey thanks, bones (and you too, Taipu). I actually am planning on doing some Neo-Classic Space stuff in LDD, considering I have the capability digitally. :P And thanks for the criticism - some of the stuff you brought up I didn't think about before, such as the reason greebling would even be on the outside of the ship. But I can just blame it all on the Steampunks; after all, this is the first rocket ship they've ever designed and built. :P

First spaceship I’ve really ever built; kinda sucks, but I like it.1 - First angle2 - Back shot3 - Side view4 - Front5 - Interior of the control center6 - Greebling side 1 *7 - Greebling side 2 *8 - Room 1, cargo hold9 - Room 2, bunks10 - The Royal Steam Federation11 - Main part of the ship, 112 - Main part of the ship, 213 - Observation port ***14 - Entry into the observation ports15 - Topside radar16 - Engines (with fuel tanks immediately next to them)17 - Topside airlock **18 - Topside back greebling *19 - Bottomside back greebling *20 - Airlock hold with space suits ****21 - Space suit (with light thingy flipped down)22 - Captain and crewmemberThis isn’t exactly Steampunk; I’d say it’s actually a bit more of Dieselpunk, but considering they’re going to space, I’d give them a little leeway to be a bit more futuristic than their current era.Basically the way this thing contextually works is that it explodes, launches itself into orbit, and floats around the earth a couple of times (considering it's Steampunk, the safety and well-being of the crewmembers is just an extraneous variable). The ship isn’t actually white; it’s this weird shade of light gray that’s in the LDD color palette, but I’ve never seen it before in real life, unless it’s supposed to be the NXT/Thok white…This whole ship is maybe held together by…three or four major connection points. Hence why I love building in LDD.* To be honest, I really don’t like the greebling I did on this, on the few parts that actually have it. My problem with greebling is that I’m just not experienced; my idea of the trick is just to surf through the minifig piece inventories and just pick out random pieces that look mechanical-ish would maybe work if thrown all together. My idea of good greebling is basically mechanical puke where you can’t distinguish separate pieces out of the whole cluster; I just haven’t gotten up to that point, yet.** I didn't really like this part, either; I just really wanted to do something with this design that I made, so I was all like 'Hey, airlocks.' Probably a bad move.*** The best job on the ship is getting the port that faces the earth; the worst job is the exact opposite.**** I guess I could’ve added a little something more into the latter part of the ship where the space suits and airlocks are; that rooms kinda blandishness.Anyways, enjoy or whatever.

  6. Guys, let's just remember that it's just personal opinion whether or not SS was a good or bad game...if you feel that it was good, then great, that's your opinion; if you disagree, that's great too, that's still your opinion.Just wanted to throw that out there before a flame war starts or something.

  7. I don't work in favorites - I work in the other direction, having least favorites, because almost all of the games are appealing to me.That being said, my least favorite definitely have to be Zelda II: Adventure of Link, Zelda, and Majora's Mask.Unfortunately, I have yet to play a good majority of the portable games, such as the Oracles, the Four Swords, and Link's Awakening, but I'm sure they're alright.

  8. Might I just say that the 25th Anniversary CD is freaking rad?

I'm listening to it right now. Yes, it is "freaking rad".
I agree wholeheartedly. My favorite song on the whole CD has to be the Ganondorf battle from the Wind Waker symphony. I really love that song, and I was a little disappointed when ZREO screwed it up (their snare drum was way in the background; it wasn't loud enough at all, and neither was the piano), but the 25th Anniversary edition really fixed it. I just wish they did the whole song through and looped it. :(
Are we talking about the one that comes with Skyward Sword or something else?
    Yeah, that CD.

  10.

Also, remember, while Ganondorf might've been killed outright with the Master Sword in Wind Waker, the cycle didn't stop there, as Malladus appeared in Spirit Tracks to prove that heroes wearing green caps cannot catch a break. Ever. =P

It seems like Link's always fighting demons...anyone else noticed this?

  11. Oracle stuff:

Oh geez; if the Oracle games features LttP Link, he just got even more overpowered. xD I mean seriously, if he retained all his abilities across all games, there'd be even less of a chance of stopping him. I mean, think about it... All his magic... 20 Heart Containers... The Golden Master Sword... the different Canes and Capes... His 75% damage reducing Tunic... Among other things. And that's LttP alone. If he combined those abilities with the ones from the Oracle Games and Link's Awakening, he'd essentially be able to defeat all the Ganondorfs in all the series, plus Vaati, plus Demise, plus Bellum, and even that other guy from Spirit Tracks... All at the same time! Wind Waker Link might be the most awesome Link prior to Skyward Sword's Link, but Link To The Past is the absolute strongest Link. PERIOD. As for what I was actually replying about; I've heard that the rafts were similar, but also apparently different; but I cannot honestly comment on that, since I haven't played the Oracle games. Anyone mind grabbing a screen of what the two rafts look like?

To be honest, I think that the same Links being in different games and not being able to retain their abilities is a question that's along the same lines as, "How can Link carry all that stuff around? I mean, honestly?"Hypothetically, the LttP Link might be the strongest, but remember, these are games. It wouldn't be much fun if you started the game off super over-powered; that just takes all the fun out of having to go through all the puzzles and challenges and finding new items and whatnot. Therefore I think it's safe to say that either Link goes through a lot of atrophy and forgets all his items between those games, or that this is really just a null and void argument because of the medium that the games are based in.However, if they were books, I suppose I could see Link reusing some of his former items... :sigh:

  12. So apparently the official timeline has been revealed in the Hyrule Historia artbook, although this does hinge on translation, so it might not be 100% correct. Just as a warning this does have major spoilers.

Skyward Sword | Minish Cap | Four Sword | Ocarina of Time (Split into three time lines) A: Where Hero of Time Fails B: Where Hero of Time Wins (sent 7yrs back) C: Where Hero of Time Wins (present) A Link to the Past | Oracle Series | Link Awakening | Zelda 1 | Zelda 2 Link’s Adventure B Majora’s Mask | Twilight Princess | Four Sword Adventures C Wind Waker | Phantom Hourglass | Spirit Tracks Thoughts?

It's pretty close to what I derived, but part A doesn't make any sense...where/how does that whole branch come in?
  13. I don't have either game. D= I wish they'd put it up on the 3DS VC. ... And while they're at it, release the eShop cards here in Canada. >_^While we're not talking about Skyward Sword, however, I just want to say that Minish Cap is awesome. =D

Agreed. Minish Cap is the new Link to the Past.
  14. "You don't have to look so sad! We actually find it to be quite livable! I mean, is perpetual twilight really all that bad?"

123Reference picThis was about the best I could do in LDD...I really wish I could've 1. gotten the teal glowy scrollwork on her limbs, somehow, and 2. done a better job on the head. I can't really do anything more with the pieces we have, though I may revamp her sometime in the future.

  15. A Medieval-styled chess set which I built using MLCad.

    1-title.png

1234 - Bishop5 - King6 - Knight7 - Pawn8 - Queen9 - Rook1011 - HD picture (using LDraw)12 - I recently changed all the white on the board to tan, giving it that antique look13 - HD picture of the tan board (using LDraw)See this topic for an explanation of MLCad, the program that I used.To my knowledge, none of the pieces have any non-real builds to them (except maybe the horse head on the knight, but it is physically possible to separate the head from the body of a horse figure, and I'm pretty certain that the size of tire I used in the digital model would also work in real life).I should note that because of how I've rigged this up in MLCad - that is, I made the models of all the pieces and the board separately and then imported them into one, big, multi-part file - it's possible to actually play chess directly in the program. However, I should also note that I absolutely suck at chess; I just like designing the boards and pieces and such. :sigh:

  16. A Medieval monastery-like building.

123456789101112Before I actually start talking about the MOC itself, I do have two things I'd like to say:1. I did ask bonesiii, and this is NOT violating the religious rules on BZP.

The rule is against the discussion of (or posting of) religious details in post content. Shouldn't be anything controversial about an image of a church building. :) And similar buildings have been featured in BZP's news from brickfest-type events.

    2. The program that I'm using obviously isn't Lego Digital Designer. This program is called MLCad, or Mike's Lego Cad. It's freeware, but unfortunately I can't post a link to the download page, due to there being links to other forums (but that's what we have Google for). As you can see from picture 12, it's definitely harder than LDD - for one thing, it's not just one view that you can move around, but 4 separate windows of different view points which you have to work through. There is a 3D option (on picture 12, it's the lower right-hand window), however you can't actually build in that window; it's for viewing only. Another thing is that it works a lot with math, and you can displace bricks in ways that aren't physically possible. Because MLCad is a CAD, or engineering, program, it isn't specifically designed to work with Lego like LDD does. In LDD, the program places restrictions on where you can put certain pieces - for instance, I can't put the Minifig apple piece on the Minifig plate piece (as dumb as that actually is). But in MLCad, not only can you put the apple piece on the plate piece, it's actually possible to put it through the plate piece. In this MOC, there are a few instances of non-real brick placement - both of the stained glass windows, the rope coming out of the bell (there's no flex tool in MLCad like there is in LDD, either), parts of the fence cutting into each other, and the grass on the ramp next to the building (there aren't any studs underneath it; also some of the grass pieces cut into each other and the fence/building/trees around them). So yes, there's my MOC. I had a lot of fun building this, and it's actually my first completed MLCad MOC. I've messed around with the program years before, but I'd never gotten any completed results like this. There are some things I don't like, though - namely the cramped space inside (which is extremely hard to negotiate using a digital builder unless you know your Brick geometry really well and can apply it) and a section of the roof near the right side (looking at the front) that's a bit buggered up. Other than that, I feel that it turned out quite well.
