Eh, I'm way behind on my novel as well. I think I kinda lost this thing before I even started. But I'm gunna keep writing because I enjoy it, and maybe even just keep at my novel beyond November. I mean hey, you're actually writing something at all, I'd say that's pretty good in itself, regardless of whatever arbitrary goal you're not meeting.

Ah, cool! Glad you like it. I'm not sure I'd call him a remix DJ, I believe the term in this case is Sampler, or to be broader Dubstep Producer, although whether his music is even dubstep is debatable. Also, according to an interview he gave to The Wired, he only uses the program Sound Forge in all his tunes. But AutoTune is so ubiquitous I don't blame yah. Also the track Untrue is interesting in this respect, as some of the vocals are sampled from the Beyonce song Resentment. Fun fact: the chorusy sounds in ArchAngel are a sample from the intro cinematic to Metal Gear Solid 2.

Hail, Canadian comrades! It's aboot time we stood up for ourselves, eh? ... Seriously. I haven't met anyone who talks like that either. We just... don't. Not that it's not fun to have a stereotype to play around with, just don't take it too seriously, all you non-Canadians. Okay? Unless you actually have met people who talk like that. Like Spirit, I don't think they're the majority though.
-
You're welcome! Also, I bet you didn't expect this many people to welcome you back did you? Ha ha, that's pretty much exactly what I did.
-
Dude! You're back! Did I ever tell you you lead one of the most amazing lives ever? You are one of the best bloggers here, and it is awesome to see you again, and to hear that you're doing all right. It's really kinda inspirational hearing how you pull through the way you do. What'd you miss? Bionicle ended. There's this new figure building thing called Hero Factory, they aren't bad, not as much story as Bionicle but oh well. Some talk about what will happen to BZPower now that Bionicle's gone, and whether we'll change to Hero Factory Power or whatever. There's some new serials up and a new element called Psionics or something, another female element. But that's nothing you couldn't get from BioSector most likely. Not a whole lot I can see on the site, people just continue to interact as chat and Moc as they always have.

Ω_Ω Φ_Φ Ѳ_ѳ Θ_Θ Ξ_Ξ δ_δ Ϙ_Ϙ σ_σ ... I have no idea. Are those even relevant?

You've never trick-or-treated before!? Wow. Also I've been given the impression that I'm too old to do it, and I'm pretty sure I'm younger than you, but maybe standards are different around your place. But anyway, if you've never done it before, I'm glad you finally managed to do it once in your life! I mean really, going around demanding candy and getting it. It's one of those things you really ought to experience. And thanks, good luck to you to! And everyone else!

Hm. I believe that we are naturally kind, but short and narrow sighted. We become hostile/negligent towards others when we don't know them well enough, don't feel connected, and have been given an excuse not to care. Because I've heard about times when a criminal of some kind or another, murderer or burglar or anything, meets the people he or she has affected, and how they almost always feel remorse, and actually become quite close to those people. I mean I guess also, we have a mentality for forming groups, we constantly create 'us' and 'them', and we don't particularly care about people outside our group. Those are some of my opinions on human nature. I'd certainly like to see if anyone has any opposing views.

Well, my Nano name is now Onyx05 (yes, I do have to use the name 'Onyx' for everything). Hooooo boy, what am I getting myself in to...

I would agree, but ti would be nice during mid-November when our brains are fried and motivation is low. I've done these sort of sessions via IM with a friend or two, and it actually does help. Personally that sounds quite nice to me. Count me in? I just hope I have my ideas together by November...
-
Yeah, pretty much same here. I'm considering trying it, I don't write a lot so I figure it might be a good exercise in writing things in general. I'll probably take a stab at something Bionicle related if I can, I just love what you can do with bio-mechanical characters who have elemental powers. But I don't wanna use any of the Bionicle related story ideas I have in my head right now as I want those to go towards a possible larger polished work I might actually want to show to someone someday. So if I can think of anything else...

Ah phooey, I didn't make it. ...What, you think I'm just going to mope about not being highlighted? Ha ha, nice job everyone! For some reason I'm especially glad L. Vog made it, 'grats to ya skullchild. And of course thanks for creating the contest, LK! I'm pretty sure it was good just to get my character written up and out of my system, regardless of whether or not he made it. He's and idea I've had stewing in my mind for a while.

Life, School, Wrecks, More Life, Nano Andand Whhyy Is My So Busy
Onyx.5 commented on Lady Kopaka's blog entry in blogs_blog_28
S'okay. You sound ridiculously busy, so I can't blame ya. I just hope it's not a drag going through all the entries, sounds like you're enjoying it though. Also I really, really hope the car accidents ease up before something more serious happens... -
... Did I hear someone say Minecraft? Oooh boy, it's spread to BZP too now... Oh Minecraft, how many people's time must you mercilessly devour? Hm, I wonder how far it'll spread. Will it end up like Homestuck, plastered all over the place? Willing to make any bets?
-
Thanks for mentioning my character. Yours is quite nice to, and I'm sure LK will accept it anyway. After seeing the mass amount of Mercenaries, and entries with basically the same sort of background, I was determined to go the opposite way. So, kinda like I made a Firefighting Toa of Water for the EM Denizens contest, I went with a character who should have an every day job, a cook. Hopefully, my simplicity will catch the eye of our judge. -SK Well thanks! I can only hope it's accepted... Anyway, I'd say that's pretty cool, intentionally going against the grain. I definitely think the simplicity of it is in it's favor. Having characters like yours really adds to the depth of the world. It shows you what sort of other things happen in the world, besides the fighting and action and freelancing. ... That's actually a really good idea, now that I think about it. I've never really considered before how important characters are in the context of background/less active roles.

Thanks Des! I'd point out that LK stated there'd be three winners, but NM beat me to it... Personally the thing I still find the most interesting as a concept is the idea of a Toa using their powers to make a body out of their element. It's something that hasn't been done before in the Bionicle story, strangely enough. Also I just realized there's some stuff I could have clarified a bit in my entry... Hm, LK's not here yet... I noticed that too! Any idea why? I guess they're just a tempting character type, or something.
-
Yea verily, we shall wait until the LK returns! She did say she'd be offline for a bit after getting back. Also, I'm fairly confident LK would be willing to except an entry that's only a little bit late, she did it with her last contest, and she's not even around right now. And besides, I was only an hour late! That's me, always a deadline pusher... So, uh, in the meantime, we could discuss our favorite entries, maybe? While I don't want to look like I haven't read anything else, I have to admit to especially liking the previous two before mine. Los Vog seems like a nicely rounded character, and a character who has a lot of character. Tredxx, I really like the concept of. The idea of someone who fought and killed and stole, just like everyone else around him, only to realize he just likes traveling and peace. Sort of like a character slowly becoming enlightened and wise.

Well phooey, looks like I'll have to forgo the illustration... I'll try to get that up soon, do me a favor and bug me to do that, okay? I've been trying to fight my procrastinate-y habits lately... I don't seem to be winning. So, here's the character description, it'll have to do. Name: The Lohev Proxy Biography: Before his experiments with Tachi, Szian had other experiments with artificial intelligence... Amongst them was one directly counter to his master work: upload the mind of a Toa to a computer. A Toa by the name of Lohev volunteered for the experiment. But as the process started, things started to go wrong. Szian's models may have been incorrect, this being his earlier work. Or the codecs miscalculated, or a simple wayward bug may have been to blame. At the end of the process, all he was left with was a corrupted chunk of code, some fragmented memories, a little primitive computer virus, and a lifeless body. The body was spirited off, the code quickly hid away, left to collect dust on an obscure machine in the corner of his lair. He considered it one of his greatest failures, it haunted him; the guilt never entirely left him alone. He did his best to ignore that little metal box amongst all the others, that result of his incompetence. Fast forward thirteen years. A little virus on an obscure server in Szian's lair starts to take over its neighboring computers, scanning over code, claiming information as its own. As the anomaly becomes more and more pronounced, Szian pays it more and more heed. But before he can investigate, he is drawn to his lab in Jiahk, and drawn in to a reunion with Tachi. It is in this time that the critical breakthrough was reached. The developing virus, becoming more and more aware of Szian's experiments from taking over his logs, discovers assets from the Tachi project. Detailed papers on the nature of elemental energy, laborious experiments on Toa power, conceptual and physical test models of how to emulate such power. Leftover components for channeling this power. And specific analysis on how to control electricity. But most important was a single detail Szian had forgotten: Lohev had been a Toa of Iron. Almost all traces of its former self gone, it seeks only one thing: Revenge on Szian. And it knows perfectly well what happened to him. Species: Ex Toa; digital being. Powers: The Lohev Proxy possesses strong control over metals. His power is boosted beyond that of a Toa in his new form, but is still not infinite. He also wields lesser, learned control over electricity, not enough to channel it in to a Toa-scale attack, but enough to ensure his continued existence as a mechanical being. Born of machines, The Lohev Proxy possesses intrinsic knowledge of computers and can bend programs and circuits to his will, in addition to his previous experience when he had a mask. His mix of powers and lack of organic components allows him to shift in to any form of metal, so long as he keeps the circuitry responsible for his sentience. He can merge in to, take over, and form out of almost any machine or computer. He can of course manipulate the machines around him without needing to directly possess them, just so long as they are within range of his powers. He does not poses a mask power as it is not worth the effort of preserving and protecting a mask during his transformations. Appearance: Variable. He can take on essentially any form made of metal, although the larger a form he attempts the harder it is for him to control. He has a self-professed 'unexplainable preference' for his original Toa form, a powerfully built being with a certain lank about him. He originally wore a Mask of Biomechanics, but lost it with his original body, and now just replicates the look. His impressions of his Toa form usually vary a lot, due to the improvisational nature of his physical being. Because he makes his body out of whatever metals are around him, his colouring tends to vary but is usually some mixture of browns and greys, with some occasional sporadic fragments of purple. Personality: His official title is The Lohev Proxy, but he usually answers to just his Toa name. A shell of a Toa, he is ruthlessly logical due to his computerized mind, and is not prone to the fallacies and errors of judgment of most other beings. He appears cold, detached, apathetic and cynical. It is as though he is but the powerless observer of his own actions. He is simply alien, his ways of thinking warped and far different than those of regular Toa. He also displays virus-like tendencies, mindlessly destroying and ruining things around him, just because he can, out of both boredom and malice. He has an impulsive thirst for information, scanning through every virtual record he can find. The one thing he seems to have kept, oddly enough, is a sense of humor. He enjoys infecting systems and altering them to taunt the user, manipulating physical devices to attack those around them. He likes to outwit his victims and improvise on what is around him, rather than just directly form metal to attack them. It is less taxing on his powers and mind that way. His sole drive is to kill Szian, and it is this goal he pursues at all times. He tries neither to hide in spite of or promote himself through his acts of destruction, they are simply asides, as he continues his journey. He does not need to sleep. As for why he does not create copies of himself, it is out of what could be described as paranoia; He fears the copy would attempt to kill the original. After all, if he was a copy, that's what he would do. Also, while it's up to you what sort of interaction he has, and if he evens ends up in story, if he ever encounters Tachi, he would likely talk at her as two people: Szian, and the unimportant, unfortunately in-the-way Toa of Electricity he hides behind. Things that shouldn't happen to this character: Redemption/becoming whole again. None of that. His old self, which probably would have forgiven Szian, is long gone. No getting it back. He is a full on soulless abomination. We clear? Music to listen to while writing for this character: Industrial, the more nightmare-ish the better. This stuff may hurt my ears when I listen to it for too long, but I think it provides a good mood. Praxis by Beatdrop is essentially this guy's theme song. Hoo! Hopefully that's enough, let me know if you think I've missed anything important or if something needs clarifying.

Yay deadline extension. Of course I'd need it... I need to remember, this is me I'm dealing with here. Anyway I'd better make sure everything's all finished by next week yeah? Sorry my entry isn't already here...
-
Aaw. I think I... kinda understand how you feel? Thursday's a busy day for me too, but not that busy. Also congrats on good test results! At least you don't have to worry about that too. I should have my contest entry done soon, planning to finish it over the weekend. Right now I'm in a rut of adding greebles... Having to draw a wall of computer-y stuff is surprisingly hard. I guess that's why I just copped out for fog on my old Uchik entry. All the same, I suppose a deadline extension can't be too bad, right? Also on that last point, for some reading I just stopped reading at "I'm also considering dying (not permanent)". Out of curiosity, what makes you come up to someone who owns the Zune just to yell in all-caps that your iPod is better? I mean doesn't that seem really mean to you? I just don't at all understand what would possess you to act like that. A bit more on topic, hang in there LadyK! You'll get through just fine - and enjoy the Zune! Woah woah dude, relaaax, he's just joking around. I mean, you are just being silly, right Shadix?

I'm honestly not that picky--but if you want a basic gist, look at Velox's and Nuju's. That's what I meant. Feel free to add more sections to explain the character, or less. It's up to you as long as I get a good summary. Also I'd prefer just posting them here. Wow, entries already? You guys are fast. Nice going! I wonder how many mercenary type character's we'll get? But anyway thanks, that does answer my question. For whatever reason in my mind my entry was just like a single glut of info, now I can easily see how it'd be separated in to appearance, powers, personality and so on.

Question: You say we should be submitting our character in a "format similar to RPG templates". I can't say I've made any RPG-ish templates before, are there any specific fields you'd recommend including, any sort of set of information you'd think all entries should include? Also, you want us to just put our entries here in the comments or PM them? Also Hi. I'm sick of just lurking around and I'm trying to be more active on here again. Sorry for essentially being gone for so long. I feel kinda guilty about just leaving like that... But yeah, I have an idea for a character I came up with while reading the story, and here's the contest for it. I'm in the process of drawin' it up now. Hopefully I'll actually make the deadline this time.

Nah. I agree with the constantly pointed out fact that the story seems to have gotten more rushed and sloppy in recent years, and I think Lego is definitely doing this at the right time. I'll admit Bionicle has been a large part of my childhood as well, but at this point with my art and stories (what little snippets of story I have in my head, anyway), the themes of bionicle are becoming more of a jumping off point than a theme to be consistently followed for me. Come to think of it, Bionicle is really quite amazing in that it's the only story I've ever seen that made cyborgs not creepy. And besides, there's a new line, right? Just as Throwbots were succeeded with RoboRiders, so must Bionicle be replaced by something new. Although I do worry a bit about exactly what they meant by "more flexible", since red and blue pins and axles were introduced to make Bionicle more accessible to younger fans, even though I think mixing in bright colours doesn't do squat and is frankly a bit insulting to the intelligence of younger folks... I mean, I played with Throwbots when I was like six, and I didn't need no stinkin' brightly coloured pins! But I'm getting off topic, this isn't a pin/axle colour topic... Y'know, I never thought I'd actually be around to see the time BZP shifted focus to a new line. I mean I knew it was inevitable, but I didn't think I'd still be a member by then. At least, I assume we're going to shift focus to this new line. Sure, we'll still discuss the new story updates and make fan works set in the MU, but I can't imagine us making the effort to be hung up on an effectively discontinued line when there's new stuff around. Also, just thought I should say sorry for seeming like I'm just ignoring everybody, I'm posting less than ever and my Bionicle art, while I'm sure I have the ability and the ideas, is going nowhere. Heh, I'm a lurker to the core. And thanks for congratulating me on becoming an OPBZPC, LK.

Entry 1 Octomover whatsit.

Put me down for number 2. Also, sorry I couldn't finish my entry in time, and sorry your deadline extension didn't net any more entries. I can see now that I bit off more than I could chew with what I tried to build, and really should have aimed for something smaller and simpler that I wouldn't have had to spend so much time simply figuring out the overall design on. Also I feel a tad lazy, like I should have been able to design and build it faster... Oh well, it is what it is.
