Yar, take that you system lover people!

Wait... I was just starting to use system in earnest! *facepalm* Oh, the irony!

Well... due to the fact that I will be gone right up until a few days before the deadline, I'm unsure if I will be able to enter. (though I will try, oh yes!) I'm gonna have to place a larger-ish order from you-know-where in the next few days... Oh, and there will be no green present!

Regardless of whether I can enter or not, I will be very intrigued to see what such builders as DV, Cags, and others will build with the no-system rule in effect. Most intrigued indeed...

I will not be entering, due mainly to the fact that I simply have not had time to build something really good, and no mind-blowing ideas came to me to begin with. Sad, yes, but you can't enter them all. There are some really amazing entries this time around; stuff which I would have no hope of competing with. I sorta built a Han Solo, but there wasn't anything innovative about him really... BBCC's just don't hold the weight with me as they used to (I'm growing up I guess) I am looking forward to the voting process though.

In other MoCing news my Fusion Project is very close to completion and once it's done a college friend of mine who is a Photography major (I think) has agreed to do professional photography of the model in an actual studio setting (which will be SO much better than my set-up at home). I look forward to showing him to you guys.

So... yeah. Life is good, school is busy (but good), and I'm glad the weekend's here. I can't wait for LEGO Universe to be released but in the mean-time I do believe I'm going to go back to some of my old PC games to crack back open (i.e. Star Wars: Republic Commando)

    Yay: new sets for MoCing!
I don't own Malum, and Pridak's white pieces should come in handy with my upcoming MoC project. I'm excited, because it's white and dark red, which Malum and Pridak happen to be... Thanks Steve Witt for the sets!

Thanks again to the staffies for hosting the contest, and congrats to all of the other winners.
Oh, and thanks to all who voted for me; I had no idea I would get this far...
lol, and to think I wasn't being all that serious when I entered.

All in all, I am very pleased with the results and I had a great time with the contest.
I am going to see if 55555 would like to trade Krika for my Gorast though (more white, you see).

    Until BBCC #57!

Hey everyone! I have a hankering to start up a blog contest. I have actually had the idea for this type of contest for a while now, but I didn't have a blog to place it in at that time. But know, I do! So, what is this idea that I've got? Here we go:

    BZPower MoCist Duels!!!
So, what exactly would these be? Simply put, they would be a one on one building duel between two of the better MoCists here on BZPower. The contest would work alot like the BBC contests, except that they would be between two members only.

How would they be conducted? Here is a little description:

    - I would post up the contest entry form in a blog entry. This would be the official starting blog entry for the contest. Members would enter the contest by commenting in that entry, and filling out the form.

    - In order to enter, you must have either: a- come in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in a BBCC before (the higher your ranking, the better chance to have of getting in the contest), or b- won an official LEGO and/or Bionicle contest from the LEGO Magazine (or Bionicle comic).

    - Once I have all of the contestants names together, I would start up a poll that our members would vote on the two members which they would like to see compete.

    - Once the two final contestants are chosen, then the first round of the duel will begin. There are three rounds. You win a round exactly like a BBC contest, you get the most votes. A contestant wins the duel by winning the most rounds (If one of the contestants wins the first two rounds (and thus the duel), then the duel is over without ever doing the third round, unless the contestants wish to do the next one for fun).

One round would work like this:

    - The host (myself) would present a description/premise of what the members' MoC must contain. I could tell them what to do based on color, piece number, character, a re-vamp, piece type, or even height. I could tell them to build a specific thing, or I could tell them to let their imagination flow, but their MoC must contain certain elements in it (such as piece number limitations, or color) It would be different every time, and they wouldn't know what to be expecting. For example, I might tell them to build a MoC that contains only green, black and silver, and it must be a toa (I might be more detailed than that, but that is a good example).

    - Once I present the necessary elements that the MoC must use and/or portray, then they have 24 hours to build their MoC. As you can tell, this would force them to build quickly and on their feet.

    - Once they complete it, they would them PM it to me (this way, they can't see what the other member has built).

    - After the 24 hours are up, I would then post the two MoCs in my blog as well as in a new poll (providing that the MoCs fit the description/limitations and the rules). The members would then vote on the two MoCs over the next day, and the winner of the poll would win the round.

    - Now, if one of the members doesn't enter a round (for some reason or another) or their MoC doesn't fit the limitations, then the other member automatically wins the round (unless they failed to enter either, in which case I would just to the round over)

    - The next round would start up, and then I would present a new set of limitations.

So what happens when it's over? The winner would receive a trophy (a digital one) that they could then place in their blog/sig, and they would then be recognized as the BZPower MoCist Duel Champion. The trophy image would only be allowed to be used by the current Duel champion. The champion would then hold this trophy until the next duel. At which time, he/she could either come back and defend his/her position, or give the trophy back to be passed on to the next winner. In other words, only one person at a time can posses the trophy (another option would be to have a separate trophy for each contest). I would also need someone to make a really nice trophy image, and if anyone would like to, then please say so or PM me. Any other ideas on a prize?

Now, I realize that many of you guys might be complaining and saying, "But GBG, that's not fair, not many of use have won a contest and thus many of us couldn't enter". I know. That's what the BBC contests are for. I wanted to make a contest that only the really good MoCists could enter. This doesn't mean that the regular members wouldn't be involved. They would vote, and this has a very significant role in the contest. Now, I realize that popularity would play a much larger role in this type of contest than the BBC contests, but I think that that's ok.

So, what do you guys think? I would love any suggestions. Oh, and I would like to get your signature if you think that it would be a good idea. Simply sign your name in the comments of this entry. I would like to get at least 10-15, but the more the better! I think that this could be really fun, but I need to know what you think. Please comment away!

I got my Brickmaster in today. I must say, I enjoyed the whole enchilada quite nicely.

The magazine itself was nice. There are a few pages dedicated to Bionicle, talking about the Mistika and whatnot. The new Agents comics are neat, and rather entertaining as well. The Batman comic was ok... Also featured is a two page... thingy... on the Star Wars: The Clone Wars LEGO minifigures, coming out later on in the summer apparently. The minifigs looks pretty good, especially the clones. Captain Rex has quite a few new minifig accessories on him. B) I was dissapointed in the lack of contests, there are only two. Ah well.

The Bionicle comic was quite excellent, in opinion. It was well laid out, spending equal time on all three toa and makuta. Tahu and Gali are beginning to grow on me (Onua... not so much), and the Makuta are beginning to look like a real problem

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «Takanuva is back! And... I wonder what the Codrex is? The Brickmaster exclusive set is my favorite part of the lot. It was the exclusive Indiana Jones set! While the set looks cool (I have an Indy minifig now!) it is also built well. There are some smart building technics to be found, and... of course, there is all of that dark green!

So overall, I really liked this month's Brickmaster edition of the LEGO magazine.

Welcome to the second edition of...

Greetings everyone! I am pleased to present to you the second edition of the BZP MoCist Duels blog contest, brought to you by "The Emerald Apple" blog, and hosted by ~GreenBioGuy~.

I am sure that most of you remember the rules from last time, but here they are again, with a few modifications (the largest of which is that there is only one round, as opposed to three, like last time):

~ New Rule!!! ANYONE can enter! Why the change? I guess that I just want more of you involved. Of course, only two of you shall be the duelists!
~ I shall post a separate blog entry that you shall use to enter the contest.
~ To enter, simply write your display name and the name of the contest(s) that you have won, as well as what place you achieved in that contest, in the designated blog entry.
~ Entry time begins now, and ends on August 18th, 11:59 P.M. (Central Standard Time)
~ Once all eligible members have submitted their names, I shall post up a separate poll in which all members shall vote on the two members which they would like to see compete within the duel. The poll shall last from August 19 to August 21.
~ Once the two duelists have been chosen, I shall post up the duel challenge in a new blog entry.
~ Within the challenge I shall list the criteria for the MoCs that the duelists shall be building.
~ The duelists then have 72 hours, or three days, to complete their MoCs. Once they have completed said MoCs, they shall then PM them to me, along with any information that goes with them.
~ Once I have received the two MoCs, I shall post them together in a new poll, providing that they conform to the rules.
~ All members shall then vote on the MoC that they feel is coolest/fits the criteria the best/ is the most creative etc. This poll shall last for about three days.
~ The winner is the member whose entry got the most votes!
~ As a prize, the winner shall receive a digital trophy which he/she may place in their blog, and they shall also be recognized as a MoCist Duels Champion.

    Rules:

I am sure that you guys will conform to all of the basic rules just like in a BBC contest. Essentially, the rules here are the same as a BBC, including (unless otherwise noted) the rule for 25% maximum system pieces within the MoC. No cheating, flaming, complaining, etc. etc... Oh, and above all, you must have fun! I hope that this contest shall run smoothly, and that we shall all enjoy it enough to want to do it again!

I believe that one of the lessons that I learned with the recent happening over in BBC is that I have been siphoning too much of my time into BZPower. I put so much time and emotional energy into the contest, but then in a matter of minutes all of my hopes went kaput. It showed me that it all really just doesn't matter that much ultimately. As such, I have decided that I am going to take a break from BZPower this week. You can still leave comments or send me messages, but don't expect replies until Saturday.

No, sorry, this is not a post on the MoCist Duels. Rather, it is a request for some advice.

Namely, how do you make a titan sized MoC stand up for an extended period of time? I am currently in the process of working on a new MoC of mine, and it is very hard to pose. The tough part is that I have given him reverse ankles, and thus his center of balance is a bit off... I guess. So, calling all of you experienced MoCists out there, I need your advice!

All that I'm lacking is his helmet. I still can't find Metus anywhere, so my dad is ordering him this evening. He should be in before next week, which will give me plenty of time for photography (It's spring break!!! )

Aside from the helmet, everything else is pretty much complete in my opinion. His color scheme is as follows: white, white armor, some gray spattering with light blue as his secondary color. In addition, he has some trans/light blue highlights.

He possesses a crystal sword/blade, a white shield which is very Kopaka-esk, and of course a Thornax launcher. His build is an Inika based one, although I have done some modifications to it. The upper arms are 100% custom, and his chest armor is not traditional.

All in all, I (personally) love him. He's fun to play around with, and I'm looking forward to sharing him with you guys!

    ~GBG~
  11. GreenBioGuy
I'm wondering how to do my Certavus' color scheme. Currently, I've got a majority of white over light blue with a strategic spattering of trans-blue throughout. I have used as little black as possible (next to zero) and I'm using a bit of gray.

However, I'm wondering: should I use something that I would actually associate with an ice Glatorian (like white and light blue), or should I do something completely different for uniqueness sake? I want to use white for sure, but what about the secondary of color? I thought about dark red, which I think would be super neat, but then I realized that I only own blue Glatorian heads, and seeing as I'm sold on using Metus' helmet as Certavus', I'm kinda stuck there.

My main gripe with using white and blue is that that is pretty much what everyone else is going to do (mostly). But at the same time, that's what I imaging Certavus as being like. He's mostly white anyway though...

    Thoughts?

So far, I love the design (Toa Mata Custom Torso! )! I haven't built a toa sized MoC in so long, it's been pretty fun!

Congratulations Arpy on winning the BZPower MoCist duels contest!

    Here is your trophy!:

I must say, really liked your entry. The use of two masks was good, I like the colors, and the build of the guy was great. You conformed to the criteria well, and I think that you deserved the win here. (unlike the winner of the last contest... *cough cough*)

Anyway, in terms of real life (yes, such a thing does exist, for you internet addicts out there) I will be rather busy this semester, so my BZPower activity will drop very much. Maybe to zero (with the exception of keeping up with the news and checking on blogs from time to time). I have no idea when I will be able to host another contest. I do know that I am planning on posting a new MoC of mine soon, but besides that, I don't really know what my level of activity will be. We shall see...

  13. GreenBioGuy
Ok guys, I have gotten alot of good feedback on this contest proposal (see blog entry before this one), and thus I believe that I shall go through with it. However, there are still a few things that need to be smoothed over/decided upon:

~ The MoCing period. The options:
    a - 24 hrs
    b - 48 hrs
    c. - 72 hrs

~ Who can enter. The options:
a - Only members that have come in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in a BBCC; or members that have won a LEGO Mag Challenge can enter
b - Same as "a" except it would be 1st - 5th place on the BBCCs
c - Same as "a" except it would be open to anyone who has made it into the finals of a BBCC

    ~ The trophy. The options:
a - One trophy that only the current champion could posses
b - A whole new trophy for each separate contest

I also thought of a new option for the contest while vacuuming this afternoon. And that would be that instead of two MoCists going at it head-to-head, there would be teams of two MoCists per team in each duel. The members in each team would have to work together (via PM) and make their combination of MoCs be the winners. They would each get a trophy. The thing that I like about this option is that there would be no attitude of "I won the recent MoCist duel. Look at what I did." Instead, there would be a sense of teamwork, which is not found in the regular BBCCs. When it came to the polls here, the members would still present their MoCs separately, but the way that a team would win would be to add the total amount of votes that each member got for their individual MoCs, and that would be the team score. Obviously, the team with the most votes would win the round. Everything else would be the same though.

So, What do you think about that?

Once we get all of this stuff worked out, I shall hopefully be able to post the main blog entry for the contest as well as the first entry form (a separate blog entry) sometime earlier next week. I look forward to seeing how this will all work out! Remember, I need you guys' help as well!

Hey guys! I just thought that I would run down a list of current events and/or things to do around here:

    - Enter Bone's Blog contest (I have begun on the entry, and yessss..... I am liking the idea very much)
    - Enter S&T contest #4 (I have a few ideas bouncing around)
    - Make a navigator block for my blog (any suggestions?)
    - Finish and post my Indiana Jones film review in my blog (I went to see it, and I will tell you right now, it was alot better than I was expecting, and I would highly recommend you going to see it too)
    - I have several blog entries that I would like to post, such as an official movie entry, a book entry, etc.
    - Go to all of my friends' blogs/profiles and check up on their latest stuff (I was gone on vacation for a little over a week)
    - Go over all latest PMs and reply to those that need to be
    - Look at, review, and post on Tahkeh's PBZP of myself as well as Toa Ausar's Epic
    - Begin working on the beginnings of a new blog contest (What is it about? Hint: "BZPower Duels")
    - Tweak avatar and tidy up sig

This list is more for myself than you guys, but you are free to glimpse into my to-do list for BZPower at the moment.

    ~GBG~

P.S. Would anyone mind rating my blog? I don't care if you don't like it and give it two stars or three, but I would really like to have some sort of rating up there.
  15. GreenBioGuy
I am here to show you guys the current scores for the members selection polls in my current blog contest:

    Arpy - 6
    Dr. Keerahk - 2
    Darth Vader - 13
    Bundalings the Bunny - 4

    Updated: 6/15/08 7:42

(New to the contest? Then check it out here)

Anyway, it's looking as if DV and Roa and going to have a match coming up! We shall see... In the mean time, I would like to thank all of you who have participated in this blog contest so far. I have gotten more positive feedback than I was expecting, and I thank all of you who have entered and voted thus far.

If you haven't voted in the contest yet, then I would encourage you to do so here.

The members selection polls shall end tonight at midnight, and I hope to have the first round of the duel up tomorrow, as soon as possible. Of course, we are having company, and I have a good bit of work to do in the afternoon, so it may not be until later. I do plan on getting it up tomorrow sometime, so please hang in there with me.

    Name change to that? ^^^
    Thoughts?

Also, Project Fusion is progressing very well. I do believe that the torso and arms are for the most part complete and I just need to duplicate the lower left leg and foot for the right side and then come up with a fluid upper leg design that is better than the current one. Still no idea when it'll be done though, much less pictures be taken. I'm considering doing WIP pics soon. If I get enough requests I probably will.

Ok, I'm about fed up with MoCing at the moment. I've used most of my good pieces and I'm running short on small technic connector pieces (specifically the (+O+) ones). Gah, I'm hitting a serious block for the arms. I think I may have something going, but we'll see. I love the rest of the MoC, but the tough part will be fitting in the arm's style with the rest of it...

For those of you who do, prayers for inspiration would be wonderful.

... for the second half of the semis and all of the finals, which will make it all the more interesting when I get back to see the results!

Where will I be? Well, I'm leaving on a mission trip tomorrow morning with my youth group, and I won't be back until Friday afternoon. It's actually just to the downtown area of my city, but it's gonna be great none-the-less. We will mostly be doing manual labor stuff along the lines of repairing houses (a house actually, I think), among other things.

So... yeah. Just a heads up. I would appreciate your vote in the Semis!

    Until Friday...

Well, this afternoon I got Turaga Starz Taka on impulse. I was actually looking to see if they had any Atlantis sets yet (I had no idea when they were being released). They did not, and I moseyed on down to the BIONICLE section and saw the starz sets just sitting there as happy as could be. My eyes fell on Taka, and it occured to me that he was white and my current MoC project is white themed as well. Upon inspecting the included pieces, I came to the conclusion that the purchasing of said set could be advantageous to said MoCing project. Thus... I got him, mainly for the white shoulder armor, new feet (thank goodness for those axle holes on their underside), and the new intriguing chest piece.

Besides the new pieces, he's basically... an Avtoran who has stolen Taka's mask (how dare he?!). This kinda makes a good Turaga Taka, but not a Nuva re-make. I don't want to repeat what everyone else has said though, so I'll stop there.
I can tell you one thing, he'll be busted quite soon.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH! *runs around in frantic circles*

    ...

The Polls to BBCC #52 are up! No, that's not the bad news. The bad news is: I'M NOT IN THE POLLS! Anywhere. That's right, and I can't find Roa's entry either! It seems that Smeag left out ten or so people. How can I tell? There are only 10 polls, and there are 111 entries. With no more than 10 entries per poll... you do the math. we're short a poll people.

I really hope this gets fixed...

    For Bink's contest?

The philosophical square root of Black Six's right toe is less than the absolute value of Tufi minus ToM in addition to the hierarchical overruling awesomeness that is purple cacti. Add the resulting factors of the prior equation to the cube root of Niki and a brown frog is born in a barn on the peak of mt. Everest. Well hi Guyz!

My, it's been so long, I don't quite know what to say... BBCC Entry perhaps?

Basically, I just popped on BZPower last Thursday out of curiosity (because I hadn't been on in a good while) and checked the BBC Forum for a contest. Sure enough, #56 was under way and I found the theme intriguing. I checked the deadline, and found out that (what-do-ya-know) it was three days away. I dropped the subject mentally and went on my way. Well, on Friday I got sick (nasty sick, I won't go into it), so I had a whole bunch of spare time on Saturday (and low energy too) which motivated me to try a doodle MoC for the contest. I actually had the "railing" for this thing already built; I was originally going to make some sort of serpent-like beast out of it. I then got the roller coaster idea, added a bunch of red and blue pins, build the cars, and added the supports. It's not overly complicated, but I thought I'd enter for the fun of it. And hey, who says an entry has to be overly complicated to get far (or for that matter, it doesn't have to be a huge beast or an awesome looking humanoid). I'd love your thoughts (no matter how small) on my latest doodle.

As to my other project, it's kinda got the pause button pushed on it at the moment; Come Christmas-time I'm sure I'll pick it back up again. I find it amusing that this is exactly what happened last year with Skotraxx; I started in the summer, finished in January. As I think I've said before, my BZPower interest comes and goes in waves. I have two technological interests that take up a fair amount of time, and I can't do both simultaneously: BZPower/BIONICLE and video games. When I get bored with one, I switch to the other. School and LIFE also play a huge roll in limiting my time here (I'm sure that many of you know what I mean). All this to say, I still love BZPower, I just haven't had the time lately to build and thus not the time to enjoy the site. I have no idea when I'll be back on in earnest, but for now you can count on my presence during the contest period.
