  1. I don't know if it matters and it's probably a little late for this, but the picture listed for my entry was actually listed as an 'alternate picture' and there was a different picture put as the 'entry picture'.

It's okay, we looked at all the pictures anyway this is really just a reference for the members.

  2. Like a pheonix from the ashes, we have finally risen again to bring you the first of what I promise is going to be an absolute DELUGE of content - and fittingly, a flash animation to delight and entertain!

[brian]: Fight droid to the death.

    The epic battle begins!

Now this hasn't been mirrored yet in the topic, but it will be soon.

However, I've been meaning to ask this for a little while and now seems like a good time; is there anyone who actively uses the topic as their main way to read the comic? Alternatively, would anyone be seriously miffed if we stopped updating the thread and simply linked to the latest update here in the discussion topic?

The reason I am considering this is because formatting these things for the forum is a major time sink and actively delays us when people can't post their own bits on time, and in addition the thread itself is degrading quite badly with several posts completely broken. In addition it is impossible for me to go in and edit posts that aren't made by myself, meaning errors or corrections are impossible to do (or nearly, unless you're willing to send a PM every few weeks to someone begging them to go fix a misplaced period or whatever). Plus when each page begins to get longer it starts taking a dreadfully long time to load - in contrast with the mirror which displays the comic in the intended format, one page at a time, and comes with lots of easy navigation buttons on it for your use. So any input on this would be appreciated. Thanks guys, and enjoy what we've got coming next!

There were other members with similar issues - they politely sent me a PM explaining the problem and I entered them because I'm a pretty understanding guy. Maybe you guys might try something like that, or just politely post your entries here instead of posting things that are unnecessarily angry? I've basically said yes to every request anyone has posted here about the contest, if you had issues with the forums I'd probably be cool with giving you a break.

But I mean it's two days later now and I'm not really willing to postpone the judging by that much so make it by today or early tomorrow after that I'm cutting this off regardless.

Gosh, you are so cool for doing this! Not that many people do that in order to appease contestants. I salute you.

    :tohu:

I don't think it ended up mattering, nobody's sent in anything since I posted that. Our judges are all working on their decisions, and I've basically made mine so now all that's really left is getting together and fighting...I mean politely hashing out who wins the prizes.

  5. Dang he's so cute! and I agree, poor little E-7UDE hasn't been getting a lot of love this contest (understandably though, it's his stupid fault they lost all their ships in the first place. Useless droid.) In any case I love the complete rebuild. Probably my favorite part is the slight angle on his little legs - it adds a lot of personality. Nice job as always, and again, good luck!

  6. Wow that's quite a deluge of entries! No doubt thanks to us entering the final hours of the contest - tonight at midnight EST the entries will be shut down, so if you've got something last minute you want to enter now's the time! Thanks guys, it's been great seeing all these great MoCs and I really can't wait to start working them into these future projects I've got cooking.

  7. Hey, I was wondering if there was any possibility of another extension to the contest. I have the majority of my entry done, but am currently hindered by the celebrations of christmas and the subsequent family gatherings, that I can't finish or take pictures of what I have currently by the time the entry period ends. An extension of around a week and a half would be greatly appreciated, but by no means delay the contest for a lazy member like me if you don't want to.

I'm sorry, there won't be any more extensions. I'd still love to see the model when you do get a chance to take photos of course, but this contest by design is to be finished by the new year.
  8. This guy is just begging for some sweet custom d's, but even without it rings very true to Lego aesthetic - play functions, a nice cohesive color scheme, heck frankly your incorporation of system is probably above the level of detail Lego would put into something like this. I really like how smoothly you incorporated both system and bionicle styles into this guy making him feel like a true mech without separating him completely from regular Lego sets he'd be included with if this were a real line. Nice job, and I love the description! Even babies need to feel the sting of justice sometimes.

  9. I think this ship works both as micro-scale and minifig scale (with some allowances to make it appear a fig fits in of course.) I like the clean color scheme and the smooth shaping of its profile. The green exhaust flames are also super cool. I really like how consistent you are with the green accents and I could definitely seeing this little guy working as a Lego set. Nice job, and good luck!

  10. Your entry is by far the most Bionicle we've seen in this contest, which is pretty cool. As Hero Factory showed us this year Constraction can make a good giant Mech for regular figs. I like the color scheme and the feet are really cool. I think it could have used a little more incorporation of Hero Factory style parts though to smooth over some of the gaps inherent to Bionicle's old style. Nice job, and good luck.

Do we have to ask parents permission first?

We don't really require parental permission to enter contests perse, but if you win you are going to have to give me your address so I can actually mail your prizes, and you may need to ask their permission for that. It's kind of your mile may vary, and if you think your parents might have an issue with it I'd go ahead and ask just to make sure.

Also can people from other countries enter? because I live in Uk.

Yeah there's no restrictions as far as that goes. As long as you're going to be able to receive a package from the US and I can't guarantee you won't run into problems with customs, I know that happens sometimes.

  13. Nice job! One thing I do wish is that you had some bigger pictures...it's somewhat difficult to make out the more intricate details of the model (for example, are those flickfire missiles on the side there or are they just lasers?). Still, picture quality aside it's really cool how you included this duality to the model - I know Lego loves adding those kinds of functions to their sets and this fits right in with that idea. The MoC gives me a very War of the Worlds feel with its rounded cockpit and three legged stance. I really like those legs especially, they're not super complex but they have a great silhouette that would probably strike fear into the blood pump sponge of any alien unlucky enough to see them. Good luck, and good work.

  14. I love the minifigure designs in this one, but I'll be honest the entry itself strikes me as the weakest of your three - it's not a bad design, but the front strikes me as very blocky and not aerodynamic like your other two pieces. In fact it really reminds of super old school Lego Space sets - which is a nice departure from what we've seen in most other entries, but at the same time makes it less believable as something Lego would release as a set in this day and age. Still I like the playful nature of it (it's very 'swooshable', to get technical) and while I couldn't see it as a set on its own, I could see it as a smaller addition to a larger set. Good luck, and keep up the good work!

  15. I like how stubby his legs are, they really strike me as funny. The real drawback to your entry pic is that it hides what I think is the coolest part of this entry - the little cockpit! There's some really great detailing in there, I especially enjoyed the use of the revolvers as a seat restraint. Nice job, another strong entry. Good luck!

  16. Aha, the first non minifig-scaled entry I've seen. Very clever, and a nice way to make a large ship without using a lot of pieces. I like the ship's profile a lot, although I think one or two less colors might have served it better - Red, White, and Light Grey is fine, but then you have Dark grey, and trans lime, trans yellow, and maroon if I'm not mistaken. Still, that's a minor issue at best, and we all know Lego sometimes has just as interesting color choices in their sets so it works as something you'd see in like, a polybag or smaller set.

  17. Alright guys, all the new entries have been added to the list, they're looking great!

Big news, and there will be an update to the front page in a little bit, we will officially be extending the contest another week, so it will now end on the 28th. Some people were asking for it, and although all the entries we've gotten are excellent I really would like to have just a few more. Hope this helps!

  18. One question on LDD MoCs. If we have a part in a color Lego has not produced it in, is that against the rules? IE, a transparent orange Hero Factory torso.

This contest specifically allows painted parts, or parts otherwise modified with custom stickers and such because the conceit is that it involves the creation of a new line. Therefore parts in new colors are a perfectly viable option, and it will be allowed.
  19. Don't worry guys, you'll learn more about Burt and the rest of the team in due time.

In any case I love the ship, especially the smooth tile construction of the rear. Not to mention that weapon on the front! that thing is fierce. Good luck, and nice job.
