IC: Morangad - Outside Metru-Koro The Tiokaha was about to say that he'd rather have back the family that was taken from him, when Sorilax issued his warning, triggered seemingly by the passing of another of his shadowy kind. He laughed mirthlessly. "That bellowing was merely a consequence of what brought us here. The Av-Toa you saw in that wretched vehicle... she is not whole. There is something ill with her light." OOC: @Kal the Guardian
-
IC: Providence - Mesi Tunnels The Aspect jerked, yelping as Zak-Yak materialized amidst them. Before he could respond, the Mesi disappeared again--- with Varian. "Well... I don't know if the problem is solved, per se, but it is gone now." He resumed running for the exit at close-to full speed, still carrying Vent's unconscious form. OOC: @Dane-gerous @Snelly @Sparticus147 @Vezok's Friend IC: Morangad - Outside Metru-Koro The Tiokaha's face hardened and his eyes narrowed as he locked eyes with Sorilax. So the Aspect had been around back then. But just as quickly, his face softened again, though he still eyed the other being warily. "...Your apology is not particularly meaningful to me." There was some anger in his voice, but not particularly malice. To be honest, he wasn't sure what would be meaningful to him, if anything. He'd had literal millennia to consider the question, but all his time in isolation had made it only so that everything outside of the Swamp seemed like an emotionless void to him. And he was far from the Swamp right now; farther than he'd been since he first arrived at it. OOC: @Kal the Guardian
-
IC: Morangad - Outside Metru-Koro "Not particularly," the Tiokaha answered. His head hurt; he'd thought the Aspect had been on the cargo hauler, and wasn't expecting him to be left in its dust with him. He coughed from the aforementioned dust. "Tiokaha were never particularly common, but since the blasted Skakdi that your kind aided--" he stopped. In all likelihood, every Aspect that had been alive when his people were killed, had long since perished. Deep breaths, Morangad. "My apologies, this has been one of the most stressful days I've had in centuries. What I was about to say is that I could, for all I know, be the last of my kind." OOC: @Kal the Guardian
-
IC: Morangad - Cargo Hauler "Woah there," Morangad spoke up, as the cargo hauler jerked forward towards the settlement. "I have to get off here." Karz, the nerve of this group. They'd invaded his swamp, done god-knew-what to it, possibly killed one of its most impressive specimens, made him horribly ill and so forced him to ride in a vehicle-- and now they would not even take him back to the swamp, and were rudely taking the conversation he had been trying to participate in, to a place he couldn't go. "Toa... Keitara, is it?" He offered a parting glance at the woman who had caused the damage. She, at least, seemed like she wanted to take responsibility for what she had done. "If you want to speak with me about possibly healing the swamp, I will probably be in this area for the next day or so, while I figure out what to do." He climbed out of the hauler, saying one final thing. "By the way..." He glanced at Sorilax. "I'm a Tiokaha, not a Toa." IC: Morangad - Cargo Hauler The Tiokaha's attention shot back and forth like a Kolhii ball as the discussion in the cargo hauler flitted between topics, sometimes pursuing more than one at the same time. His years... well, centuries in complete isolation, had impacted his ability to follow a conversation. Didn't help that everyone else's thoughts were ramming into his head. "Now, hold on!" He cut in finally, deciding that developing a firm grasp on exactly what was happening was a lost cause. "You said that this Kraata is unlike anything you've seen, didn't you?" He jabbed a finger at Sorilax. He was fairly certain he'd heard this strange Aspect mutter something to that effect. "Perhaps, then, its formation didn't require a heartlight?" Toa, as a whole, were decent enough folk. And this girl didn't seem like she'd be the sort to kill someone and rip their heartlight out. In spite of the tension of the situation, he couldn't help but be amused by Sorilax's thoughts, which were bouncing around in Morangad's already busy skull. IC: Providence - Mesi Tunnels "Just trust me!" The Aspect replied. He didn't have time to explain the peculiarities of his shadow abilities to the blue-clad warrior. As he glanced back at his allies once more, something occurred to him, which nearly caused him to stop dead in his tracks. An Aspect curse escaped his mouth. "The way we came in is too narrow! Varian won't be able to fit!" He was still moving, but drastically slowed. He had already begun to probe the tunnels around them for an alternate route. -
IC: Morangad - Cargo Hauler The Tiokaha scowled. Did these folk truly intend to simply walk away, after their meddling had caused grievous harm to the swamp's ecosystem? He considered asking directly - and pointedly - but a more pressing query, which filled him with even more disgust, took precedence. "Air... ship?" IC: Barius - ALASKAN. BULL. WORM The Skak growled as he pushed himself to his feet. He had narrowly avoided the Worm's descending head, and the nearby impact had sent a wave of force through the sand beneath him, bucking him into the air. Seeing the Convoy was electing to flee, Barius followed. He was a glory hound, but he would not fight a creature thousands of times his size alone. Metal-clad feet pounded the sand, adopting a sprinter's posture as he raced away from the massive rahi. OOC: @Unreliable Narrator @Nato the Traveler IC: Providence - Mesi Tunnels Providence, too, was running; carrying Vent with him as he led the blue-clad warrior and his other recently-gained allies upwards through the twisting tunnels. He was tireless, no flesh, muscle, or sinew to be found within the metal frame of his form, but his allies - or, most of them, anyhow - were not; he could hear their panting, a faint reverberation through his armor. He slowed, glancing back at them. "We are almost near the surface. Start thinking up where to go from there, because I have no idea." Below and far behind, the Vahki that had zapped him could hear the words as well, dampened as if heard through water. OOC: @Toru Nui @Dane-gerous @Snelly @Sparticus147 @Vezok's Friend IC: Morangad - Cargo Hauler (Outside Metru-Koro) Morangad eyed Sorilax warily, brow knit. He had never known an Aspect to offer charity. Still, the Av-Toa did not seem to show any ill effects from the rhotuka... yet. OOC: @Tarn @Kal the Guardian @TL01 NUVA @Conway

IC: Barius - A wild sand worm has appeared! Clad in his mostly-repaired ACR, Barius was easily able to leap out of the way of the massive maw's descent. He grunted, the impact jostling him around and aggravating his still-hurting ear. Karz, he cursed to himself, marveling at the awful majesty of the massive creature, as it devoured rigs that were too slow to avoid it in a single bite. The thing would destroy the entire convoy if they weren't careful in their response to it. A gout of burning napalm poured from his newly-repaired flamethrower. Perhaps the beast would dislike flame? He hoped so, anyway. OOC: @Unreliable Narrator

IC: Providence - Mesi Tunnels The Aspect flinched as he was struck by the bolt of energy from the Vahki's weapon. But it didn't seem to have any negative effects, as far as he could tell. He continued out of the cavernous room, allies following behind him; unaware that his senses were now being monitored. Meanwhile, the Vahki would find her sensors thrown into disarray, as a seemingly nonsensical stream of sensory information filtered into the receptors dedicated to its Staff of Presence. Unless the tool was malfunctioning, there was something deeply wrong with the sight of the being that she had hit. Rather than visual information, that which NU-8020S received was more along the lines of touch, or... echolocation? It felt as if the robotic being's perception had suddenly expanded all throughout the cave system. It was difficult to parse, and though not impossible to decipher, would certainly take some getting used to. There was an audio feed as well, which was strange as well, but much closer to what she expected from dealing with Matoran. That was easy enough to adjust to, and she could hear the sounds of Providence's party thundering up a cave, a cacophony of footsteps, and little else beyond several beings' breathing. IC: Providence - Mesi Tunnels "Uh." Providence wasn't sure what made one a 'criminal' in Zakazian society. Nor was he certain what a criminal even was. This truth, coupled with the fact that he was entirely unfamiliar with the approaching individuals, meant that the Aspect was not particularly inclined to comply. Perhaps Vent would have protested had the Tiokaha been conscious, but alas. As their shadow finished dragging them over to Prov, he bent down and lifted his new friend's slight form onto his shoulders. Zak-Yak was nowhere to be seen amidst the chaos, and would likely follow Varian's lead regardless. Providence supposed he had done everything he could to consolidate his allies together, and so he urged the blue fellow: "We should get out of here. This way!" He still remembered the layout of the tunnels from when he'd probed them with shadow, and so he led the warrior towards an exit that would take them in a surface-ward direction. A handful of animated shadows stayed behind to block the advancing newcomers with their bodies-- though the Vahki would find that the shadow people did nothing to harm them, merely blocking the way with their bodies until dispatched. -
IC: Providence - Mesi Tunnels "I don't have any other friends, so probably not," Prov answered, still standing in place. As he focused, the shadow of the unconscious Tiokaha stood up and began dragging Vent roughly along the ground. Cuts and bruises were better than being sacrificed. The shadows of the Skakdi that had been knocked over continued to fight without their owners' awareness, congregating around Vent and their own shadow. Protecting the strange pair from any Mesi that drifted too close. "I don't think we have time to find out. Let's get out of here!" IC: Providence - Mesi Tunnels "Thanks, blue person!" Providence said, accepting the warrior's hand and letting them pull him up. He had no problem with the being's own killing, of course; that was just a part of the brutal... ecosystem of Zakaz, if you will. Exterminating these Mesi was both impractical and unnecessary; with the person they had been about to sacrifice freed, their priority had ought to be getting out. The Aspect took a second to look around the chamber. Deciding that Vent was the most in need of assistance at the moment, he animated the shadows of their aggressors to wrestle them to the ground before they could harm the Tiokaha. IC: Barius - Scrapshop The Skakdi huffed in response, before turning to walk the short distance back to the defiled corpse that had provided him with a heartlight. He picked up the late Toa's mask; the Kanohi was useless to him directly, but it would serve as a trophy of his victory, and perhaps a bargaining chip down the road. He checked the body for additional supplies, but Reson's worn satchel was empty; in all likelihood, the contents had spilled out while he was hanging upside-down on Cor's rig. Or some of the Skaks had relieved him of his stuff. Didn't much matter either way; Barius had gotten what he was looking for from the Toa. Then he returned to his ACR. When he felt that most eyes were off of him, he raised a hand and placed it on the side of his face, below his still-deafened ear. When he pulled it back, it was wet with blood, and with some other, unfamiliar fluid. That was not a good sign. He climbed into his rig. If he let this injury distract him, he wouldn't live long enough to see it heal, anyhow. It was time to continue on to the next stop. OOC: @Conway @Unreliable Narrator IC: Providence - Mesi Tunnels Providence yelped in surprise as the vines tangled around his ankles caused him to trip and fall into the rapidly softening earth, becoming partially buried beneath it. He tried to dig himself out. He wasn't sure how to deal with these Mesi; he couldn't blind them, and there were far too many to subdue with his sleep powers, especially when he wasn't yet even strong enough to actually put people to sleep. Diplomacy, as an option, had probably vanished when Varian rushed in and fired a rocket. He could make blades out of the shadows in the cavern, but that would kill them! That was hardly nice. OOC: @Dane-gerous @Snelly @Sparticus147 @Vezok's Friend IC: Morangad - Outside Metru-Koro As he surveyed the far-off walls of the settlement with a discerning eye, the Tiokaha's face was inscrutable. It had been a long time since he'd been to a settlement of any sort. In fact, he hadn't spoken to anyone more than the occasional wayward traveler since the Skaks had slaughtered his village. Even now, he could feel countless souls at the edges of his mind. The sensation, at this distance, was much more manageable than when they were close by. In fact, it was almost electrifying. "If no medic is forthcoming, I can reach out to some of the people in the village. Someone will surely heed my request."
-
IC: Providence - Mesi Tunnels Oh, dear. These 'Mesi' were overpowering his tendrils of shadow. He supposed these beings were rowdier than he'd previously imagined. A couple were coming up behind him. Providence danced out of the way, tapping one on the forehead as he did. The sluggishness imposed by his touch caused the pale, eyeless Skak to crash into his compatriot. With the brief reprieve he had earned, the Aspect focused the shadows that he had gathered around the blue-armored warrior into a blade, which he caused to sever the being's bonds, before dissipating. IC: Barius - Scrapshop Barius breathed in deeply, relishing the surge of power that accompanied the attachment of his second Kraata. Honestly, he didn't hear most of the ritual spoken by Parnassus; his ears were still ringing. As the desecration finished and the Aspect asked his question, Barius was distracted for some seconds from answering, as he was struck with the troubling realization that the hearing in his left ear wasn't returning. But he suppressed his surprise, and after a brief delay, shook Parn's hands off his face, rising to his full height. "I have no god," he proclaimed, loud enough for everyone to hear. OOC: @Conway
-
IC: Barius - Scrapshop Barius took a solid 5 seconds to catch his breath and admire his handiwork, looking down on the broken body before him. He knew it was real, this time. But the heartlight wouldn't keep beating forever. He walked over to where the knife was still sticking up out of the sand, grabbed it, and then returned to the body, in order to perform the grisly task at hand. Some moments later, he stood before the Aspect he'd wagered with. If Miserix had answered his verbal question at all, then Barius could not decipher it, so he defaulted to the request that he had already been planning: "I wish to strike fear into the hearts of my enemies, boogeyman. Can you do that for me?" OOC: @Conway
-
IC: Providence - Mesi Tunnels Oh, jeez. Everyone had spilled into the chamber at the drop of a hat. Providence followed them in, bathing the area around the blue-armored sacrifice-to-be in shadow, tendrils of the element wrapping around his aggressors and trying to pull them away from him. OOC: @Dane-gerous @Snelly @Sparticus147 @Vezok's Friend IC: Morangad - Cargo Hauler Morangad looked out the windscreen of the cargo hauler, seeing the settlement crest the horizon. Oh, how he dreaded these next few hours... "Would you please stop this contraption and allow me to disembark before we are fully amidst your village?" He asked Waveahk, who seemed to be in charge. "I am sensitive to large groups of people. I could not stand entering the settlement proper." OOC: @Toru Nui @Keeper of Kraata @Tarn @Conway @TL01 NUVA

IC: Barius - Scrapshop It was time to finish this. Barius stepped forward, standing beside the exhausted, bloodied Toa that lay on the ground. Bending over, he slid his hands beneath Reson's prone form, scooping him up like a mere babe, albeit with vastly different intentions. The Toa's mask grew even more distant from him, empty eye holes staring up at him from where the Kanohi had landed in the sand, seemingly mocking his fate. Holding his defeated opponent up over his head, Barius smiled through the pain of his own injuries, turning a full rotation, to give everyone in the cheering crowd a good view of his victory. Building anticipation for what was to come next. Bringing the Toa's body down, he brought his knee up, colliding into Reson's spine with a sickening crunch! The force was enough to send a jolt of pain lancing through Barius' leg. He could only imagine what it felt like to be on the receiving end. OOC: @Nato the Traveler
-
IC: Barius - Scrapshop The Skak's own hand shot up, and caught the punch. It hurt a bit, but thick as his skin was - and tired as his opponent was - it wasn't particularly hard to do. Yanking the Toa forward, he shot out his own fist to meet his approaching face. OOC: @Nato the Traveler
-
IC: Barius - Scrapshop Good. The horrible screeching was done. Now he just needed to make sure that the Toa couldn't use that trick of his again. He strode forward, aiming to step one foot on Reson's chest, before raising the haft of the spear up once more, pausing briefly to catch his breath, and then bringing it down with thunderous force toward his opponent's troublesome mask. OOC: @Nato the Traveler
-
IC: Barius - Scrapshop Barius grunted as the Toa released whining sound at his face. If he knew what a chalkboard was, he might think that the noises sounded like claws on one, only ten times louder. Tears formed at the corners of his eyes, and he wondered whether his invuln Kraata had made his eardrums as tough as the rest of him. Aborting the plan of dropping the spear, he instead turned its blunt end down, and brought it, double-handed, down on Reson's gut. He had to make him stop making that hideous noise. OOC: @Nato the Traveler
-
IC: Barius - Scrapshop The Skak bowed his head, tucking his chin into his chest, and took the kick with a grunt, even as he shot to his feet. He shifted one of his hands up the shaft, leaving backwards to counterbalance and lifting the spear up in the air, Toa still attached. He then brought it down to the earth, attempting to slam Reson into the sand, and scramble on top of him. OOC: @Nato the Traveler
-
IC: Barius - Scrapshop With his free hand, Barius ripped away the raggedy armor that lay between him and his prize. He raised the knife in the air, and plunged it down... A flash of movement reflected in the flat of the blade. That same, haggard face. The knife was buried in the sand where the mirage of the Toa had been. He let it stay there as he whirled to face the advancing Toa. He was just in time to catch the spear that was rapidly approaching him. For whatever reason, Reson wasn't going for the heartlight; his opponent was instead aiming for the knee that was jutting out, as Barius was kneeling on the other. The Skakdi's massive hands clapped around the tip of the weapon, even as its point dug into his skin. Thanks to the Kraata he already had on his neck, and the large surface area of contact, the spear didn't cut him open. It did bite into his hands quite a bit though, eliciting a snarl as rivulets of blood began to seep from them. "Nice trick," he sneered, twisting the spear to free it from the Toa's grasp once more. OOC: @Nato the Traveler
-
IC: Barius - Scrapshop Barius stopped awkwardly, unable to keep himself from chuckling in surprise. The Toa's head had come, like, all the way off. That had never happened before-- at least, not from a single punch. He immediately suspected something was up, but if there was trickery in play, then the Toa had painted a very convincing picture of his own spewing blood and rolling head, because all the Skakdi gathered round were cheering as if they had seen the same thing as Barius. He didn't have time to doubt the reality of the situation; he was no doctor, but he'd done a lot of killing, and in his experience, hearts stopped beating after just a few minutes of the body being... incapacitated. He needed to get the heartlight out of the body and present it to Parnassus, while it was still fresh. He stepped forward and produced the knife from his hip. Stooping down on one knee, he prepared to plunge the blade into the corpse that lay before him. He took a second to gauge where he had ought to start cutting; he didn't want to cut the precious organ to ribbons. OOC: @Nato the Traveler
