  1. Oh wow I actually started a conversation about the adamantite drill thing, usually my comments are completely ignored. I just thought it was cool that we might have confirmation of a mineral type used to make stuff in gen2 kinda like protosteel in gen1. The use of adamant-anything has been in fiction for a very long time, not Marvel-specific. It just opens up the possibility that other weapons, even armor and masks could be bade of this Bionicle version of Adamantium and/or Obsidian, the only two minerals we know exist in gen2 so far.

  2. This has been discussed in several topics, but you did a great job with the combiner aside from one glaring flaw that I see in the pictures that are not reflected in your model is that the protector's feet are attached to the back of Onua's feet. Other than that it looks very close to the combiner. As Onua is my favorite of the Toa, I'm a little disappointed by his alternate form. The inclusion of a tail was pretty cool if not a little odd. The main problem I have with the combiner is the lack of shoulder armor that, as others have said, makes the large chest piece look out of place. I also dislike and am confused by the rock armor piece next to his head like a tumor. It doesn't look good and I can't imagine what purpose it could possibly have.

  3. Something I have just realized is... I don't think the Toa have even met each other yet, so I am definitely looking forward to seeing their first interactions. Given the length, relatively simple animation, single narrator/voice actor and music score, I really hope these are released on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I wish they weren't so short, but it could be so that they can release the videos more quickly. I'm cool with getting little snippets once a week versus waiting a month to get it all at once. Being so short, the recapping is unnecessary and wastes time however.

Anyway...speaking of colors, I hope we see some sets in the summer with more spring yellowish green and earth blue pieces. The former is really rare in the first place, and the latter disappeared from constraction after Bionicle ended, so their applications in MOCs are pretty limited since so far we only have Skull Spiders in those colors. A set with spr. yl. green shells would be awesome.

Hm, I'm not quite sure about yellow-green, but I'd be really eager to see earth blue again. It's a really neat color.

    "Mark Stafford killed Teal'.

    No he didn't.

Well, he sort of did. Did you click the link?

Yes I did. All I got from it was that if he made some set with one color it would 'kill' the other. As far as I'm concerned I didn't know colors could be killed.

Colors can be killed just like how wearing shoulder pads was killed after the '80s. Nobody uses them anymore.

    True.

Apparently the Toa didn't get that memo... except Pohatu, he got the no-shoulder-pad memo sadly. :P

  5. Tahu by a small margin, LoSS because he looks rather messy, is too small and is completely unpose-able. I would have said Pohatu of the 3 smaller Toa because he is the most generic looking of them all. Maybe it's because he doesn't have shoulder armor like all of the others do which seems a bit odd. The PoW is the least interesting to me personally. She/he(?) is great parts-wise but the design doesn't look that great to me for some reason.

  6. I absolutely love these! The only thing about them I dislike is the use of the bug(?) piece for masks, other than that these are impressively accurate representations of their much larger counterparts. I would love to see versions of them for every Bionicle character, better yet I would love to have an entire shelf space dedicated to these Bio-minis were they obtainable!

I really think you should post these on Ideas, should you feel comfortable in doing so of course. I don't think they would be against the rules but I imagine there are at least 10,000 gen1 Bionicle fans who would love to have these!   :lookhere:  :biorules:

  7. THEORY: The reason we're not getting Bionicle comics this year is because Marvel is trying to get the rights so they can add Bionicle to their empire. If the line is successful, we'll get an Easter Egg or end-credits scene featuring the Toa in Guardians of the Galaxy 2, then later a movie by Marvel Studios. EXTREMELY unlikely, but let's put logic aside for a moment and imagine how glorious this would be if I were right. Even a one-off Bionicle/Avengers crossover comic done similarly to the Marvel/AoT crossover or the Transformers/New Avengers miniseries would be nice. LEGO and Marvel do have a working relationship, so it's not too unrealistic, right?

Duuuude that would be so awesome! In all seriousness though, I would just be happy if we got comics and movies again. Oh and video games, definitely an awesome Bionicle video game or two for console and pc. The app is nice but it is a far cry from an ACTUAL video game, that's mostly for what gamers like myself would typically call filthy casuals haha. Not that it isn't fun for a few minutes but as with all apps that's all it is.

p.s. I hold nothing against casual gamers, it's just the lingo.

On a side note in reference to Marvel and DC I have noticed an interesting trend among nerds: They commonly either Marvel/Star Wars or DC/Star Trek. I have seen this a lot, it is just an interesting trend. I myself am a Marvel/Star Wars fan, not that I have anything against DC/Star Trek, I just can't get into it like I can with Marvel/Star Wars.

  8.

Yeah, as great as Bionicle is and as much as I love it, there is so much potential for other stories and applications for CCBS. Keeping constraction restrained to one theme all the time feels a little wasteful to me. Perhaps every three years or so, they can take a break off from one theme and try out another one, preferably one with a different tone/feel and concept. Some nice variety is nice.

I agree I'd like to see more constraction themes, but I think it would be a bad idea for BIONICLE to "take a break" to allow for that. If it did, then you'd see BIONICLE fans blaming the new themes for them not getting new BIONICLE sets that year, same as happened with Hero Factory, which would really take a huge chunk out of the theme's potential appeal with BIONICLE fans.

If we get more constraction themes, it should be because the actual market for constraction themes has expanded. Which will probably happen if BIONICLE becomes wildly successful.

Idk how another constraction would go. On one hand, I'd get more pieces to build with and modify my Bioncles with. On the other hand, my wallet is already really stretched as it is and I don't think I could afford anything else after buying all 7 Toa plus villain sets

    ....There's a seventh Toa?

    There was always a seventh...

We anxiously await the One... Takanuva the Master of Light! We can only hope...

  9. Yeah that kinda bothers me but I think LoSS is much better off being bigger than the Toa in headcanon and media otherwise wouldn't be remotely intimidating to the Toa. The difference in in the sizes of characters always bothered me in gen1 but at times it really couldn't be helped. It bothers me but I just accept it and move on. In mocs I do try to reflect their true size though.

  10. From the sounds of it, I'm pretty lucky to find Onua right now, which is good because Onua is my favorite. Sure enough, when I went back for the PoE the next day there were no Onua sets left. There were at least three of everything else including LoSS and Gali. Earth has always been my favorite element in Bionicle and the two this year are phenomenal. The trans-purple looks amazing and they are big, strong characters. The sets themselves are solid and exemplify the Earth element well. One thing I noticed in person that I didn't really see well in pictures is that Onua's torso stickers have a rock-looking pattern underneath the tribal designs. I find the use of half pins in the hammer/shoulder pieces interesting considering the only reason for them is for the "combiner". I used to fill empty pinholes with half pins back in ge1 too so that doesn't bother me it's just interesting that they did that.

  11. So apparently the official ability of the Golden Skull Spider Mask is that it gives the user the ability to have control over all of the skull spiders. It also seems to me that the LoSS is never present with the mask in any of the animation sequences we've seen him in so far. He isn't pictured with it anywhere except on the set ITSELF. This could potentially mean that LoSS is just a big Skull Spider that's also under the same influence the other Skull Spiders are under. Now Skull Spiders seem to be like Rahi, beasts that normally live in the wild, but are now being controlled by a force to wreck havoc and bring back masks. We have these few possabilities of who/what that could be: The MoUP, a Summer Villain, The power hungry Makuta himself. Makuta seems to be the top pick since he's been officially called "Makuta the Mask Hoarder".

Now, this has no credibility and no evidence so far, but perhaps the Golden Skull Spider Mask is another form, or perhaps a weaker version of the Mask of Control, assuming Makuta might be able to forge himself a similar less powered up mask until he can get the real one back. From what we've seen in the videos and read from the official site and various promotional material, the Skull Spiders pretty much ran everyone out of the city Ekimu and Makuta used to call home. Now that it's empty, Makuta has full access to his forge and an army of spiders that attack faces.

I can see this being the case. In fact, I would very much like it to be, assuming Makuta is awake and scheming away as opposed to manipulating LoSS in his sleep or LoSS influenced by the mask itself on a more primal basis by influencing its need for power and control and Makuta has almost nothing to do with it nut it's doubtful he doesn't have a hand in it.

  12. As nice as it is to read that, unfortunately I find it in stark contrast to the fact that we're not allowed to sign up for the LEGO magazine, even a paid version.

I still receive the Club magazines and occasionally the catalogs( oddly I did not receive the most recent catalog but I got the Club magazine that came after with the Bionicle booklet for which I am very grateful) and I'm an adult... Is that because I have been receiving them ever since I was a small child or am I just lucky?

On the subject of the article, it's nice to be recognized and appreciated for our dedication and love of the LEGO brand.

  13. There is very little evidence to indicate that that is in fact the MoUP as opposed to any mask from a set from the summer wave. I personally doubt that it is, given the lack of six defined, long pronged extensions as seen in the animations. I think it is much too early in the story to reveal the MoUP.
