  1. I was expecting it to be terrible, as there is very little progressive metal that I like. Especially considering that Anubis Gate are progressive/power, so I imagined that would make it even worse.I was however, gravely mistaken.
  2. Meh, I swear all the time. (As do most of my friends and family) Sure, they might be "bad" words, but they get the message across, especially with something as angry as metal. I know rght? I snorted at first when I read their genre, but then heard a song by accident and fell in love. I have to say that their latest self-titled is by far their best effort. I really like Andromeda Unchained and The Detached too, but although the music on Purification and A Perfect Forever is brilliant, I cannot stand the vocals. Eh, I sort of like Born of Osiris and Veil of Maya, but the -core aspect does put me off somewhat. Haha, I forget too; hence why I have list of about five bands. (Most of which -apart from my favourites- have only been listened to about three times)
  3. "I only drink on special occasions." "What's the occasion then?" "I'm sober."

  4. Bleh I give up. Anyway, I am after some traditional heavy metal. Any suggestions? (Apart from the obvious, of course.)
  5. I have to agree with that. But like I say, So Wrong, It's Right is good (not quite as good as The Party Scene, but better than most pop punk) and from Nothing Personal I would recommened "Break Your Little Heart," "Weightless," "###### If I Do Ya (###### If I Don't)," "Stella," and "Walls."
  6. It is still bizzare. When somebody says that, you expect to hear traditional/softer thrash and maybe a little power. But not liking metal generally means not liking the vocals, lyrical themes, complexity, heaviness, and aggression, all of which are post prominent in death metal.
  7. Metal is not your thing but you like death metal? That seems a little odd... Are we talking real death metal here, or deathcore rubbish?
  8. What, you mean two of the few bands from this genre that I like? Haha! The other being Paramore. Anyway, do All Time Low count? I love The Party Scene and So Wrong, It's Right, and some songs off Nothing Personal, but I refuse to speak of their latest album. And before you ask, no, I too have no idea why I like these bands
  9. I second Arsis -- brilliant band. Also, Cryptopsy, (you have probabaly heard of them but I feel obliged anyway. [also stay away from The Unspoken King. It is bad by deathcore standards.]) Suffocation, (brutal technical death/kind of slam) Wormed, (brutal technical death/grindcore) Origin, (technical death) Brain Drill, (technical death/grindcore) Necrophagist, (technical/progressive death) Decapitated, (technical death) Nile, (brutal technical death) The Faceless, (technical death/deathcore) Decrepit Birth, (technical death) Cephalic Carnage, (technical death/grindcore) Defeated Sanity, (brutal technical death) Fleshgod Apocalypse (technical/symphonic death) and Neuraxis (technical death).Guttural Secrete are also pretty technical, but much more brutal and slam orientated. Aborted are also technical/brutal/grindcore/melodic depending on the album, so I am not sure how you will feel about those.I am interested to see what you like already, as I am a fan of technical death but find most of the genre to be full of people who think that playing fast equates to technicality.@Xinlo: If you want progressive I see no need to look further than Anubis Gate.
  10. @HAZMAT: This is true. Indeed, the quality of the bands music is matter of opinion, but this is the metal topic so we should discuss metal. Not that generic mainstream drivel perpetrating to be metal.Whith the exeception of Sabaton and (in my opinion, Slipknot), none of those are metal and all are terrible. Oh and very "niche."
  11. Yeah, I know. I know Slipknot are relatively mainstream and all that, but all the same they seem more metal-orientated than the rest of the nu metal/core disasters out there. But then again it is hypocritical of me to say that seeing as I hate on deathcore all the time. Which brings me to your next comment: It is a shame that your tastes have not shifted for the better. Oh I see. Well, I would not call melodic death/thrash "hardcore" as such. Unless you are referring to hardcore as in punk, in which case I am completely clueless, haha.
  12. None, get Global Flatline by Aborted instead.
  13. ...I SEE.ಠ_ಠYes, that is correct. Do some research and tell me it is wrong. By all means, PM me to talk about it if you are that interested.sup bros, let's keep the politics out of here, aight?also do you actually like Slipknot? if cool if you do but i find that hard to believe hahaHence why I said to PM me. And yes, I absolutely love Slipknot. (It is okay, I know it is weird) They were the first band with harsh vocals that I liked; without them I probably would not be into half the death I am into now. Oh and I stand by my claim that Corey Taylor has one of the best clean singing voices of all time. hxc? I am not sure what this means. Yeah I get what you are saying. Listen to it again at a more godly hour and you might change your mind, haha.
  14. ...I SEE.ಠ_ಠYes, that is correct. Do some research and tell me it is wrong. By all means, PM me to talk about it if you are that interested. that is literally what he does xD also why single out Slipknot? they're more respectable then some bands imo (Limp Bizkit for example)Yes, Idunnolol has an appalling taste in music, (in my opinion) and I let it be known. I see no problems with that. Oh and I disagree with your Slipknot comment; they are one of my favourite bands and I consider them to be metal. Deal. Aren't opinions fun? @Tenebrae Invictus: I think the only improvement to be done on Conclusion of an Age is the addition of more clean vocals, but that is just me.
  15. Yeah I thought so (). Thrash is not my thing as such, so do not expect any underground gems. I did just edit in a few more though.
  16. Indeed, core does suck. I thought we already agreed on that?Thrash? I Like Warbringer, Testament, Slayer, Megadeth, Exodus, Overkill, Death Angel, Kreator, Demolition Hammer, Annihilator, Onslaught, Artillery, Eternal Devastation (death/thrash), Sylosis (death/thrash), Vader (death/thrash), Final Breath (death/thrash)Versus Heaven (power/thrash), Dragonlord (symphonic black/thrash) and Trivium (thrash/metalcore). Oh the conversations I have had, haha. I always make them listen to the music, and get the lyrics up so that they know what they are saying. Their reactions are priceless. Oh I see. Well played. Yeah, it is pretty messed up. But I am betting that Lord Worm will be able to produce something good. And I do not believe that you have.
  17. The more violent and disgusting it is, the better it is. Brutal death established that in the nineties. Meh, Barnes was terrible with Cannibal Corpse anyway, if you ask me. Rage Nucléaire. Only got one song out: The Sorrow Children at Mourningside. The rest are unfinshed. Hahaha, I meant apart from the obvious.
  18. I feel that black metal depends on how you look at it. I mean, Dead drank his own blood and wanted to look like a corpse -- sure, he was mentally unstable, but by god did he love his art. All the corpsepaint and whatnot about these days is just a continuation of his legacy; trends develop in all forms of music. As for the lyrics, I despise religion and as such I like antitheistic music, but the Satanic propaganda seems a bit silly to me (as I do not believe in the Devil either). I do love the other nihlisitic, misanthropic, national socialist and generally dark lyrics associated with black metal, mainly because I feel the same way about a lot of these things too. Oh, and although I appreciate and understand the thought that goes behind recording your album in the heart of winter in a cave located within a misty Scandinavian forest at midnight whilst the wolves howl with nothing but a tape recorder, it still sounds terrible. Not "raw". Terrible. Cannibal Corpse are hit-and-miss for me. Most of their records have some really good songs, but the majority are lacking. I am pretty exacting in standards when it comes to death metal, but even so, this is the first Cannibal Corpse album I would say that is solid throughout. Oh and I much prefer Corpsegrinder over Barnes, whilst we are at it. No idea if it was on The Harvest Floor, but I can see it growing on me, even though I am iffy with it at the moment. It kind of reminds me of something Lord Worm would do, actually. (Especially seeing he is the vocalist for a melodic black metal/industrial band now...) Funny, my two favourite (and in my opinion best) genres are deathgrind and goregrind. Both of which have a massive hardcore punk influence. So why is metal/deathcore so terrible? No idea why, but I laughed so ###### hard at this. Sacrilege!
  19. This probably due to the fact that most people here seem to like thrash and awful core rubbish (which, if we stuck to real metal would also reduce the aforementione elitism). If people do not like X band and/or know anything about their genre, what are we suppsoed to talk about? I suppose we could decide on a topic now, and then stick to it for a while, but I really cannot see that panning out well. Yeah, I tried but it is really only Idunnolol that is into the same bands as me so it sort of fizzled out, haha. Aside from the fact that their songwriting causes me physical pain, you saying that puts me off even more; I like serious music, hence why listen to metal. And of course I like Cattle Decapitation. I was not aware that they had a new track out. (I have been listening to Global Flatline on a pretty much continues loop since it was released, haha) I should probably see what they have put out now. Also, new Cannibal Corpse -Torture- is fantastic.Edit: Just listened to the new Cattle Decapitation: brutal as ######. Not sure how I feel about the weird half singing, half growling parts, but the rest is amazing.
  20. I would say that you are allowed to state your mind, (and I admit that a lot of power metal is very similar too) but previously in this topic you have mentioned liking Pantera and Deftones, so that in my opinion automatically rends your argument invalid. Emmure is awful in every way possible and some that are not.Eh, Municipal Waste? I never really got thrash crossover but I shall give their new record a go.
  21. Does heaviness really have anything to do with "being metal"? I mean, the vast majority is, but look at sludge/stoner/folk/classical metal etc. I do not see any of those getting slated for being full of posers (but blending rap with metal is unforgivable in my opinion). The way I see it is this: to the mainstream audience, anything heavier than Nickleback is metal, and anything with harsh vocals is death metal (be it Escape The Fate or some other emo/post-hardcore rubbish). That would be fine -as they do not understand- but a lot of these bands and fans seem attracted to the image metal has, thinking it makes them edgier or being a more "alternative" band for the cool kids that do not conform to listen to. Anyway guys, anybody like the new Abominable Putridity? I think that The Anomalies of Artificial Origin is probably one the best slam death albums I have heard. It would appear that after getting rid of their horrendous vocalist and replacing him with Matti Way they gained the ability to write good brutal death metal. I still kind of wish that Big Chocolate stayed with them though as that could have been interesting, but hey, at least Disfiguring The Goddess are bringing a new record out this year.
  22. (Yes, I know most of these are pretty well known, haha)SabatonAnubis Gate (more progressive/power metal, but highly recommended nonetheless) PyramazeIced EarthBeautiful SinBlind GuardianPower metal is not really my forté seeing I mainly listen to brutal death, but to me that only means that these guys must be doing something very good to get my attention, right?
  23. Meh, boring death/thrash I have to say. Not in the least bit brutal, and the vocalist is pretty bad. It is not exactly difficult being heavier than Arch Enemy though, I shall give you that.
  24. Ehhhh. As much as I love Slayer, they have basically been playing the same song since Seasons in the Abyss. Although they did say the new album would be a "return to their roots" so lets hope it actually does that: like Aborted did with Global Flatline, not Morbid Angel's latest abomination.
  25. Holy **** is it out?But is it as good as Gormageddon?EDIT: Yes. Yes it is. I swear to god, if Aborted keep pumping music this brutal out it is going to get to the point where my feeble human brain shall be incapable of processing it.
