  1. Eh, most of the "metalheads" I know are either the stereotypical arrogant trendcore emo haircut, girls jeans kind of people. But there is a few into thrash/traditional/speed and the like.To be honest, the main reason I dislike it is due to the fact that most deathcore is genuinely bad music -- although I think black metal has shown us what happens to posers, haha.Anyway, on the subject of black metal, I have been on a binge recently. Any suggestions? (I am after the full-on Satanic corpse-paint Scandinavian stuff, just so you know.I already like: 1349, Acheron, Agalloch, All The Cold, Anaal Nathrakh, Azaghal, Bathory, Behemoth, Beherit, Behexen, Black Altar, Black Funeral, Blut Aus Nord, Burzum, Carpathian Forest, Crebain, Dark Funeral, Darkthone, Deströyer 666, Dissection, Drudkh, Emperor, Enslaved, Enthroned, Gorgoroth, Helvetespine, Impaled Nazarene, Infernal War, Leviathan, Lycanthropy's Spell, Marduk, Marthyrium, Mayhem, Mütiilation, Nargaroth, Nilfheim, Nortt, Nyktalgia, Ragnarok, Ravencult, Sacramentum, Summoning, Svartthron, Svest , Taake, Vinterland, Windir, Wolves In The Throne Room.
  2. Most deathcore I have heard is -like I said- more punk than metal. Most of the deathcore bands that are "more metal" generally have a load of distortion and harsher vocals. I can sometimes pick up the Suffocation-like breakdowns, but eh. Taking into consideration that I do not like deathcore, I am probably being overly critical but hey! There is a reason as to why most metalheads dislike deathcore you know. Oh and I hope you realise that comparing Suicide Silence to Cannibal Corpse would get you torn limb from limb at a CC show, haha. And I think that "insane" would be an understatement.
  3. Bad metal is still metal. There are no degrees of metal, nothing is 'pretty metal'. It's either metal or it's not, and deathcore is. Just because you don't like something doesn't automatically make it not metal.Funny that, I was always under the impression that deathcore was a fusion genre of death metal and/or metalcore and hardcore punk, and to my knowledge, punk is not metal, so if these deathcore bands focused more on the punk than the metal, it would make them a punk band with metal influences, no? Wow, that was complicated. And I never said my dislike of it does not make it metal; I do not like Anthrax either but I do not run around calling them posers. The majority of these trendcore bands are, however. Notice how I said majority? I am aware that some play very good music and have good intentions, but most deathcore is a load of generic bull, something which -fan or not- yo uhave to admit.
  4. I like a little deathcore, and some are pretty metal, but the truth is that the majority are not. Liking the music = fine. Pretending it and you are something you are not = posing; that I cannot stand.Oh, and calling deathcore "brutal" is like calling Anaal Nathrakh "melodic."
  5. Still not as bad as the scene kids that worship Bring Me The Horizon and think that listening to Suicide Silence makes them a "brutal metalhead."
  6. Most people fail to understand this, sadly. In fact I just had a four hour arguement (well not really an arguement, but you get me) with my mother about why Guns 'N' Roses are boring and over-rated after she informed me that all metal spawned from them and that they were revolutionary for the time. I then proceeded to play her some technical death, followed by some Devourment and four certain songs (you know which ones I mean) off of Tomb Of The Mutilated. Should have seen her face, haha. It was pretty funny though.
  7. There is this wonderful thing called "joking," you know? Maybe you should try looking it up sometime; no need to thank me. *Sarcastic smile*I may not like deathcore but I cannot stop others from listening to it. Your point is what exactly? I also like slam death, technical death, goregrind and melodic death just so you know.
  8. Oh I figured it out -- I just do not approve.
  9. I just checked these out and it sounds like the same old deathcore rubbish as usual, to be honest. Not even anything interesting going on.Also, new Disfiguring The Goddess this year!
  10. I agree with the Five Finger Death Punch are gross statement. You clearly bypassed all the deathcore ###### he likes. Also, just discovered Cerebral Bore. Some pretty brutal death going on there.
  11. ^^What he said. I have to say however, that I whilst I am a brutal death metal guy at heart, I much prefer Death's later progressive/melodic work for some reason. Also, check out Versus Heaven. I was unsure of the power/thrash fusion at first, but I love it now.-Sykura
  12. Well, in that case then I do apologise. I thought you was going to start one of those "all death metal sounds the same" discussions. Really? To me, Angal Ochoa's toilet frog gurgling, Lord Worm's unmatched "HURGH WURR URGH," Blue Jensen's guttural, high growl and squeal in the same breath and Necrolagnia's dying pig impression are amazing, not Trevor's generic, somewhat coreish vocals. But hey, each man to his own.-Sykura
  13. I do not find them offensive or anything; just boring.Actually there is a lot of variety -- it is just very hard to find it with of the posers and generic stuff out there.-Sykura
  14. Oh I see. That is indeed odd. Oh, and one more: not fully slam, but Guttural Secrete. The vocals are insane. Haha, I have been saying for years that Goremageddon is one of the greatest records ever made.Good lord I hate porngrind. I find it to be the pop equivalent of metal: generic boring music, electronically alterted vocals and retarded lyrics. That certainly is quite an achievement. Well that sucks. Never really got The Black Dahlia Murder -- his vocals are nothing special and I find the music to be rather boring.-Sykura
  15. Yeah, I hope they come near me too (northern England, haha). They are pretty big, so I imagine that there will probably be a Global Flatline tour of sorts. But knowing my luck, probably not.Yes, I like Pathology. Surgically Hacked and Incisions of Perverse Debauchery have got to be my favourites of their work. And may I ask what their record label has to do with anything? They have changed it about three times now. Also, Pathology are not exactly slam in the vein of Cephalotripsy, Abominable Putridity or Visceral Disgorge, so if you like Pathology, check out Intracranial Butchery, Cesspool Of Vermin and Cerebral Incubation.-Sykura
  16. Well that is good then. Oh my god, I ###### love Aborted. You have no idea how excited I am for Global Flatline.-Sykura
  17. I understand that all brutal death/grind/slam etc is a lot harder to get into, but once you get it fully you never look back, I have to say. I have a massive list I can send you if you like. For the most part I despise deathcore, not because I am an elitist, but because it is oh so painfully terrible. I like Alice Through The Windshield Glass, Whitechapel, Chelsea Grin and Carnifex along with Divine Heresy, (first album, not that new abortion) In Flames and couple of other melodic death metal, -core influenced bands, but for the most part I cannot stand the constant chugging, generic breakdowns and awful vocals and stupid misogynistic lyrics. Yes, that is the one. Circle Of Nine is good but I much prefer the earlier work: "Feeding Off Nihility," "Abrogations Crown" and "Teeth Of Emulation." (All came from online demos and other such stuff; not sure of the exact records) Nah, you are welcome.
  18. I am fond of Corey Taylor's "XM@$". Not a big fan of thrash, but I do love Warbringer, and Annihilator are pretty good too
  19. Haha, I love the "toilet frog" vocals. The harsher and less coherent, the better it is as far as I am concerned. Although a fair bit of slam (Short Bus Pile Up, Devourment, Cesspool Of Vermin and Awaiting The Autopsy to name a few) do not use the gurgle vocals so much. I know right? Although Lord Worm is apparantly starting up a melodic black metal/industrial which should be interesting. Also Disfiguring The Goddess are sooooo brutal it ain't even funny.
  20. At the moment I would have to say Cryptopsy, (Lord Worm Cryptopsy, not that new abomination) Short Bus Pile Up, Human Error, Anaal Nathrakh and Cephalotripsy. (I love slam death) You really need to check out Alice Through The WIndshield Glass.
  21. This annoys me too. I mean, the majority of what I listen to is mainly death and black, but I also like a fair bit of "-core" myself, only however, bands that I deem to be more metal than core. You shall not find me saying that Black Veil Brides are death metal or anything like those ####### cool dudes. I suppose that I am an elitist in the sense that it has to be more than sixty percent metal influenced to be considered as real metal. Also, you should totally check out Sylosis (melodic death/thrash) just got into them recently and am loving it. Also thanks for the doom suggestions.
  22. I second this entirely. Anything after the self-titled is awful. (Although I do like The Day That Never Comes) Also, anybody got any good doom metal suggestions? (Various subgenres also) I have found some that I really like, but a lot of it is a bit boring, to be honest.
  23. The last topic was (and this one will too, most likely) seriously lacking in brutal/slam/gore/grindcore death metal. I suggest that we fix that. Now, I have a massive list that I could post, but for now let us just leave it at Guttural Secrete, Awaiting The Autopsy and Putrefying Cadaverment. If you do not like those you have no soul. As for this years releases: Warbringers' Worlds Torn Asunder is amazing -I particularly enjoy "Shattered Like Glass"- and what do we thing to the self-titled from Anubis Gate? I am a little iffy on it at the moment. I have to say that I much prefer Hansens' vocals to Fevre. Oh and I shall advise you to skip the nu-metal, metal/deathcore phases almost entirely, Superbionicle. I would suggest thrash and power as a good starting point.

    Fire Lord

This. The Heroes and Jetbug are the only ones that are even passable. Still freaking out over the pieces though; particularly the gunmetal. -Sykura
