  1. wood rather look like that then stereotypical metalhead/10but yes that is what is cool nowalso i feel like people shouldn't get worked up about that stuff. it's cool to be really into music and all (i mean i am) but at the end of the day it's just another form of entertainment and getting angry because people don't like what you like is just juvenile. it's mindbottling how people stress hard over nothing. it's supposed to be fun, so why ruin someone else's?ponytails aren't necessarily bad but to me they're an indicator of whether or not someone is going to be an imn
  2. lol @ being behind the times doethat look is out the door, it's all about 1950's dad haircuts nowi never said the look wasn't a part of the scene but i still think that you should not get looks in the way of your musical enjoyment.if looks mattered that much i would not listen to any slam because those people look like dudes who would get super sensitive if you got slam confused with brutal deathalso ponytails.
  3. yeah i realized that which is why i edited it outsorry duder, carry onstill thinks it's silly to judge a band based on appearance because there are many bands i wouldn't dig if that weren't the caseHarm's Way for example. Judge Hammers looks like the kind of dude who would crush your head with his bicep if you told him his band sucks
  4. naw but on the real though i don't get how youthfulness would be a detractor but if you wanna roll that way go ahead.also SFTP and STYG aren't even whiny so go listen to them at least (also not sumeriancore soooo)also OM&M is probably one of the best risecore acts. yeah they have the whole scene fangirl club behind them but quality songwriting is quality songwritingif you want some new tunes btw check out Hands. they're like sludge metal infused with a hint of post hardcore. amazing band.
  5. 2.5/5 yeah i also don't link linkin park at all, especially the early stuff, so the chances that I would actually like this were incredibly slim. sounds decent enough for what it is though, so i can't hate it too much. mike shinoda isn't at all a bad rapper and that's what keeps this from being totally unbearable in my eyes.EDIT: of course i get ninja'd. anyway I already know Teenagers and it's alright. 3/5 decent track but i jumped off the MCR bandwagon pretty early on in their careers and never got back on so i can't say i love itI Will - Hands
  6. there's an instrumental version of the debut periphery album if that's your style. the vocals are deffo the weakest part of perry fairy but what makes me get tired of them is the length of their songs. metalcore albums shouldn't be 70 minutes long, that's wrong.for the most part i like a lot of sumerians line up (I See Stars, Betraying The Martyrs, Veil Of Maya, The Faceless, Enfold Darkness, some Asking Alexandria, I The Breather, Upon a Burning Body, Structures, and especially Stick To Your Guns and Stray From The Path are great) but the other half is weak. Rise is actually pretty great these days. they've diversified their lineup with pop punk and some legitimate post-hardcore acts along with the quality of the risecore acts improving too (Memphis May Fire is still amazing for being generic as can be, plus The Air I Breathe, The Color Morale, and Of Mice & Men prove you can make some good tunes within the classic Rise mold) also Rise has The Acacia Strain who are basically the best deathcore band so there's that tooalso i agree Miss May I is probably the most boring risecore artist around, I can barely get through At Heart. it's super dull
  7. 1.5/5 i can barely stand metallica these days, and their load/reload days were some of the worst stuff they put out imo. not feeling it at all. doesn't need to be almost seven minutes either.Drag My Body - Hot Water Music
  8. 2/5 never liked Oasis, like at all. song's okay but my distaste for the band just prevents me from actually liking it.Forgiven - I, The Breather
  9. it's metal, bigotry is the name of the game. it's definitely true that in some circles female-fronted metal is frowned upon. people like those are close-minded scum doe, best to either ignore or work to change them rather than get upset about itthis is why i prefer the hardcore community, much more accepting.that being said, there are other reasons there aren't many female-fronted metal bands. namely that for the most part girls don't like metal.
  10. fine by me. i'm not too concerned about the "purity" of the genre
  11. the line between hard rock and metal is so blurred i'd let it slide. genre wars are dumb anyway
  12. 1/5 i just can't stand this type of music, like at all. it's not my style. nothing against the dude but this isn't meAll Downhill From Here - New Found Glory
  13. i'd consider flyleaf metal despite not liking them at all
  14. 3/5 compared to the last song by these guys you posted, this is just okay. vocally i'm not liking it, but again the industrial elements work out in its favor.Rearview Memories - To Speak Of Wolves
  15. 4/5 won't deny their influence but refused is so overrated and pretentious oh man. still a good track though, there is a reason they made such a huge markLet Oceans Lie - A Hero A Fake
  16. 3/5 got dat nostalgia factor since i used to to love SOAD and serj as well, but my tastes have moved on and this doesn't cut it for me anymoreWall of Stone - Suburban Scum
  17. 2/5 can't stand the vocals. generic radio rock again, can't say i like it at all. it's better than creed and their ilk but i just don't like this style at allhere's one for vespertine since i know you don't like male vocalsGlimpse Of The Unseen - Oathbreaker
  18. 2/5 sounds like a parody of old hard rock, but as something I'd want to listen to it's not great. vocals are super weak tooAwake - Trash Talk
  19. you know the artist has a name. they go by Trocadero. anyway;4/5 cool tune, I like the ambient stomping rock going on here. dunno if I'd like a whole album but this was pretty good for what it isWhere You've Been - City Lights
  20. 1.5/5 boring, so boring. can't stand this kind of radio rock, it's never been exciting to me in anyway. yeah, needless to say I didn't like it. why this needed to be 5 minutes long is beyond me too. Our Ethos: A Legacy To Pass On - Set Your Goals
  21. 4/5 wasn't really feeling it at first, but at around the 2 minute mark when the industrial beat came in it got more my thing. still not the biggest fan of vocals in this style though. huge soaring vocals aren't my thing. the drum beat actually works pretty well against the orchestral backings. not liking the spoken words stuff either. this sounds like something that could easily back up a movie soundtrack. i didn't mind the length that much either. usually longer songs have to be exceptional to hold my interest. The Behemoth - The Acacia Strain
  22. Dead Swans - Anxiety And Everything ElseFireworks - GospelSuburban Scum - Hanging By A Thread 7"all on vinyl
  23. 2/5 not diggin it. never liked songs that, with the focus on vocals and instruments taking the background. just not my cup of teaEngine 45 - The Ghost Inside
  24. deffo check out the new Whitechapel album, it's absolutely their strongest work. they've evolved a ton since the somatic defilement, and you can really notice on itthis is exile is still my favorite but that's for the nostalgic value
  25. 2/5 i can't stand Devin Townsend, srsly one of the most overrated musicians these days. The Fall - Empire
