Yesterday at about 5:00 I got a call from my 10-year-old sister: she said she was 30 minutes from landing in Orlando, Florida with my dad and they were going to Disney World on Saturday (and maybe Sunday?). Disney. World.

I just played along; she had to be joking, right? So I told her to have fun and stop by the LEGO Store (in Downtown Disney (I was there 12 years ago)) for me.

Then my dad takes the phone and says he's been planning this for a month and a half now. Whoa! Really?! I was just slightly taken aback about how awesome that is.

Y'see, my mom and brother headed up to Boston, Mass. Thursday night for a band competition of his, and my dad wanted to do something special for my sister. (Apparently they had done something last year too...but couldn't remember. I doubt it was as exciting as this (well it probably was back then at the moment).)

Then I call my mom last night because I needed some information from her, she told me about the exciting things they were doing in Boston like seeing the Blue Man Group (jealous). I asked how Papa and Sophie were and she said they were fine, etc, but mentioned nothing of Disney World.

So...has my dad been holding this from her this entire time? Wow.

    Craziness.

Have I blogged yet that I really like the .hack manga series? In fact, the .hack// Legend of the Twilight manga trilogy was my first manga series I bought.

I heard rumors since last October, but now, finally, I see that there is a second manga series! Borders.com has registered that they have .hack/ / G.U.+! (The only question is when can I get it? Once I have some money, obviously, but more so a topic of time to read. (And I still have 7 more Black Cat manga to buy.))

.hack is about a web, virtual reality RPG. A brother and sister log on to "The World" and go along with the basics of the game, including meeting and making friends with other online characters. Later, weird things start happening and a mystery is revealed, the team of friends working to get to the bottom of it so they can keep enjoying The World.

Despite my lack of interest in RPG's, I really enjoyed this because I like the fantasy theme and the cool things that can happen because it's an RPG. (It helps explain RPG's, too.) Being my first manga, this has a special place in my heart.

    It just seems so...artificial.

Not when it's in the middle of conversation , mind you, but more so in passing. Because really, when are you not going to say simply "fine" even if you aren't?

Me? I'm fine with just a "hey" and keeping on walking.

That's what Ouch said about this little scene I made after building my set:

It was a great meeting. More on that later. For now, here is the other sets I got yesterday (so I built them today at WAMALUG)
The Mars are really awesome. Great pieces but also great sets in general. I would totally recommend both, but the $20 one is awesome! It has so many points of movement to "transform" from speedy ship to super-speedy ship!
Matoro is also good. I like his weapon. I might use the mask in a MOC without the visor. The only problem is the tubes act like the Piraka spines almost and slightly limit mobility.

More pix later, I got some new pieces!

Funny how many customers who I've never met assume I'm asking about their well-being and reply, "I'm good," when I'm merely saying "good morning" to them as they come into the bookstore.

And by golly the amount of snark I repress could fill a swimming pool. (Or a book...hehe.)

And no, we're not going out of business. (And even if we were, what are you going to do about it?)

I watched the first three episodes of Arrested Development this weekend. I can't wait to watch more. I hope it's as good as people say it is, considering I'm currently watching...
I first have to catch up with How I Met Your Mother (I'm 6 episodes into Season 7) and finish Outlaw Star (over halfway done).

And finally, friends coaxed me into watching the first two episodes of The Legend of Korra with them. Fantastic! I'm also really glad I had not first needed to have seen Avatar: The Last Airbender, though I knew enough to follow along or ask a few questions to a friend to get more familiar with bending and the culture. I definitely hope to continue watching when it airs in a few weeks (and friends have already said I need to watch Airbender anyway, so that will happen soon too).

If I call you by your username, it means I love you.
Or I don't like your real name.
    Or your username is cooler.
    Or easier to say.
Or I might call you by your real name too.
Like if I've known you for a while.
Or just feel like saying it for a change.
Or I know you prefer me doing so.
But sometimes I just don't care.

To me, a username transcends a person's identity. It becomes them. To me, I am ChocolateFrogs, a person, not someone named after a Harry Potter candy, but the term has changed meaning to be my name. Other names-- Sisen, Disky, Nukaya, Arpy-- are just as unique as a name given at birth, but instead is also one chosen by the bearer to be them.

I know some people don't like being called their username in public, which is totally fine, but it doesn't change that it is part of their identity now.

Of course, that's just my personal view. Maybe you look at me and think I'm crazy for choosing a name after the Harry Potter-verse. Maybe you would much prefer to call people by their real name, because it is perfect and also them. But when I'm out having fun, I have fun with your names too. And that is something we all share.

It seems each year I forget to blog about my favorite Christmas music, so here I go, finally!

While the Christmas music my parents like and the radio stations like to play is nice, I really only care for the Snoopy and Red Barron Christmas song. In reality, I like my contemporary, modern artists doing class songs with a rock beat along with their own.

    Favorites include:
Barenaked Ladies: Barenaked for the Holidays
Relient K: Let it Snow Baby... Let it Reindeer
A lot of the rockin' Trans Siberian Orchestra Christmas songs. (Flight of the Bumblebee is also great.)
Do They Know it's Christmas? by Band Aid
The Calling's version of Carol of the Bells
Jack Johnson doing Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
    And a few others...

    Y'all better read this.
    BrickFair Sci-Fi and Castle coverage
Not just because themes other than Bionicle are equally awesome, but because it took sooo long to post, and I put so much effort into it. (Writing it was no problem (and yes I reread over and over), but setting it up afterward with the codes and stuff was a pain. I can haz BBC?) (See, brain fry=lolspeak) I better get back to that homework I've neglected for the past 2 hours...

Plus, Arpy had a paragraph in it, and Nuju Metru's functioning castle MOCs were featured. (Note: They're awesome.)

I decided to look around online and listen to some Nami Tamaki music, as all I have is her Greeting CD. And what a great CD at that. But considering there is more out there, I'd love to get some of it.

After listening to a selection, I came to the conclusion that I would like it get Specialty and Make Progress.

I hope you clicked on those links. Let me tell you, I am not willing to spend $60+ on one CD. Ever. I'm lucky my friend just gave me the Advent Children soundtrack because I'm not paying for that either unless it drops down to the price of a normal CD.

People have bought those CD's, so I can't ask if anyone actually buys at that price, but really now, does anyone buy at that price?

I've searched elsewhere (and have not bought anything off Amazon except school books before) but just can't find a good deal. Maybe at a con, but I can never find the music dealer in the Dealers' Room. I also doubt iTunes would have j-pop, but I'll find out when/if I get an iPod.

Update. I bought it. Soooo many good pieces.

Oops, not just two entries in a day but more like in a ten minute period. So, if you want to see some funny pictures, go here and you won't miss out on my blogging spree.
    Now, onward...

This is just one of the many troubles with being a Lego Hobbyist in college. Twenty dollars for the Space Skulls! (Plus $5 shipping, totally worth it.) Now, being the college kid, I shouldn't be spending too much money. Especially after an anime convention last month and a few more minor expenses (a movie ticket or two, all those Vahi, etc) and whatnot expected. Then again, I haven't spent too much, if anything, in the past few weeks. (Not counting a Portable Hard Drive...whew. Have I blogged about that yet?)

Then I look at the picture a little closer and do some investigation on Peeron. I can totally use a lot of these pieces. Besides, there's almost 1000 of them! That's less than 3 cents a piece! And I want to build a 3vil ship for my Space display at my Lego Store, so these would totally get me in the mood.

Here's what I'm going to do. I'm about to complete a deal in BST. I'll call that off and instead get this. I'll be missing out on things like the Indy Jeep promo set and the mini Venator Class Star Destroyer promo set, but I think it'll be worth it. DONE. Too pricey. Looks like I'll be going for this! Only problem is I want to spend another $30 when a TRU or Target buy-two-Glatorian-get-one-free sale pops up. And then another $10 for Power Miners, maybe. (Oh, and my mom might see my bank transaction.)

Wow, just think how crazy I'd be going if the Pre-Classic Space set was on sale!

I just won $5 to Walmart for having one of the coolest tie-dye shirts at my hall's program this afternoon. Cool! Now, what do I want to get?

I am, of course, thinking about getting some LEGO. Currently (still? Seems too good to be true. But maybe it'll be over when I go.) they are having a sale on Glatorian Legends for $10, so I'm thinking maybe I should get Kiina. But Vastus also caught my eye despite his downfalls. (Maybe I'm just partial towards green and not to blue, despite his lime parts.) I also remembered this Indiana Jones set.

So now I'm split between two (or three) sets. If I get a chance to buy one of these, I need your help deciding what, because I don't know!

    Thoughts/suggestions?

(Please read all the entry, I need some advice.)
First off, I'm hope I get to do this.
Second, I hope the Lego Store has Lesovik

On the topic of first, my dad has never really encouraged my Lego building for the past couple years. It's a real pain to buy sets, and somehow I got Brutaka last year and a couple other things, most likely from the web via WAMALUG, behind his back in general, or stuff he just doesn't know about. (no one in my family knows I have the Clone Trooper Battle Pack!)

To make matters worse, I really have to start getting serious about college. So that is a con to trying to get some serious Lego soon.
But on the plus side I'm almost done with all my Eagle Scout stuff. I'm hoping that will help. (And what if I don't touch the boxes until the next LUG meeting?)

I get a 10% off at my Lego store (WAMALUG discount) and I have a 5% off coupon expiring at the end of Oct. September is also a double stamps day (spend $25 and get a stamp. Get 8 stamps get a $10 or $20 gift card. I need 3 stamps)

Here's what I want to buy:
    Lesovik= $20
    Matoro Mahri= $10
    Mars Mission driller/alien ship= $20
Mars Mission mini-flyer (x2) =$10 (or one of these and the blue hydruka)
    Another $3 of stuff?

So, with my coupon and discount, I'll get 2 stamps and save $10. (A deal for me, IMO) Then I'll spend $25 at Christmas for friends and get the card. Or I go this weekend and get the card now and 4 stamps!

I need help on convincing my parents to let me go buy some stuff soon before the coupon expires!
Note: My decision is final on all sets, including Matoro for those that don't like him. But comment to help me and not to yay or nay a set.

Wow, long entry, thanks for reading and I appreciate any help.

So I took advantage of TRU's buy two, get one free deal, and got myself Pridak and Ehlek (the 07 fo the title) and I got a Toa Inika (hence '06, but s/he shall remain unnamed).

The Barakii are awesome, and they have pieces I really needed (like Pridak's white double-joints)

I can't wait to start MOCing with them, and so far I combined the two.

Oh, also, I guess it's obvious I didn't win GregF's contest, so I don't see any reason to tell my guesses, but I would like to share that I guessed Hewkii would have the Mask of Gravity (it seems some of these masks are from Kal powers. Weird how some masks are also elemental powers). I think this because I have been wondering what would be up with him, being that storyline wise the stone guys are supposed to sink in water. So his mask of gravity makes up for that.

I was so sure of my other answers as well! Too bad....

I'm leaving home school tomorrow later today. My dorm residence hall is practically bare except for my made bed and clothes in the wardrobe, for my dad is bringing down some boxes for the clothes when he picks me up later this morning. (It's 2 AM for those who are curious. And I'm getting up before 8.)

A few months a go I was able to take some pictures of my room, so here there are for you enjoyment.
    My awesome shelf with LEGO
    My desk
More shelfage and some cool posters.
    and
My epic door of epicness (Sorry for the fuzzy camera phone quality here. But I'm pretty sure you've all seen those pictures before or will eventually. I quite enjoyed having some of the most random things ever.)
(Hopeless, the panda/rainbow/knight, and Monty Python are my roommate's.)
(Might I point out the Free Strips of Paper, with some strips taken!)

On that note, I'll see you around later. I guess I'll be getting home early enough to get online, but if not I have either a white water rafting trip on Saturday or, if the river is still too high like it is now, a WAMALUG meeting.

    Ten ay em

That's the time I got up this morning. Christmas Break started at 2:50 last Friday, and now I got to sleep in (finally)
I usually only sleep in till 9, but today was different.

So I got up, had breakfast, MOCed, had lunch, made cookies for my Boy Scout Troop's Court of Honor tonight, and now I'm online.

I MOCed Toa Matoro, for that Bionecle comic contest on an Inika vs a Piraka.
I built him, and am really happy. Except for some chest armor. So I did a little revamp. And now I can't decide on which is better.
Can anyone reading this help me?
    view here

I would like some advice as to which is better, or perhaps a better piece instead?

I might set my alarm for 9 tomorrow morning.

    Q&A:
*The contest was announced in the back of comic 4. A battle scene between an Inika and a Piraka. (And a story about it). It didn't exactly tell what to do, so I'm MOCing two characters, and I'll have lots of fire around them (like lava)
*The pic to the right was my first idea.
*I put the slizer feet on the joints to act as fingers. That is what others have done. Although if you don't think it looks like a good idea, then I might take them off. But I thought fingers might look good.

This year I've managed to build for ten different BrickFair themes. I was hoping for more, but time got the better of me.

    Still, I like my ten:
    -Bionicle
    -Space
    -Micro
    -Wind/ Air (this year's theme)
    -Pop Culture
    -Pharaoh's Labyrinth
    -Other
    -Mini-Con
    -Steampunk
    -Great Ball Contraption

That said, my GBC module still has some kinks to work out and was not displayed. I'll continue to work on that, as well as some things for themes like Castle and Mosaic to display in even more themes next year!

I better get building, but first I have some sorting to do.

Ah, the Master of Bionicle deadline was 9:00 AM. I got on 11 hours too late.
    Here's what I wrote (under 100 words):

I should be manager of BIONICLE because I have an experienced background not only with BIONICLE but with LEGO as a whole. Since I can remember, I have been turning those colorful bricks into countless creations. BIONICLE revealed an intriguing storyline rich with mythology, heroes and villains. These aspects helped shape BIONICLE into what it is today.

Having loyally followed BIONICLE, I care deeply about it. BZPower has given me insight into other fans’ views as well as the LEGO Company’s, and I feel that I can lead the BIONICLE line forward using my experiences and all I have learned.

I like it, but I'll never know how well it is. Until Master of Bionicle 3, but I don't know if I'll have time then. (I figured I'd have time right now)

I just bought a shirt, at the local thrift store, that is close enough to what will pass in an 11th Doctor costume. What I am trying to say is that I am now committed. A bow tie will not be that much online. The most expensive items will be buying the screwdriver (but shipping will be minimized because at the same time I will buy a Blue Sun shirt, and my roommate will get a chrome Star Trek Jesus Fish) and suspenders, but I think I can get that for less than the first set I found for $20. Oh, and though I will not need it for a while, if ever,* I should probably get a tweed jacket. The issue though is knowing what my dimensions are, and getting the color correct enough. But I think I found something for $20, not including shipping

I already have black slacks, but, aside from the shoes I shall use, I have to buy everything else. (I have tried building an Sonic Screwdriver Mark VII, but that is continually becoming less likely. I have attempted a few techniques, but at the same time I also have to worry about the few gold/copper/bronze pieces LEGO has made.)

The biggest issue I am coming across right now is probably the color burgundy, which I can get the bow tie and suspenders in, but I think that sounds more purpley, but just plain red would be too bright. Edit: I am reading this one site about someone making their own costume (thanks Tilius) and they keep saying burgundy.

(I'd love to get a fez too. Hmm... That might require the jacket though, since that is when he was wearing it. I shall forgo a mop however.)

*I plan on wearing this for a hopefully Halloween party mid-October, and probably Halloween, and maybe for a Renaissance Festival, but my next convention is most likely BrickFair '11, and that is not a cosplay event. There is not much need for the added layer, but I never know...

Well, Katsucon was my first con, but Anime USA really gave me the con experience. (But it'd be unfair to compare the two, I went to Katsu on Sunday, AUSA on Saturday, and Saturdays are more jam-packd than Sundays.)

I was there for 14.5 hours and had a blast! There were various panels, workshops, a manga library, screenings of anime and AMVs (Anime Music Videos), cosplayers, etc etc.

Let me break it down for you:
I arrived at 8:30 and headed to Tsubasa. It wasn't playing, so at 8:50 I headed up to registration. Long line! Oops,I should have gotten there sooner. But while waiting for friends, I met two others people in line with me, and we had a good chat. One guy had a keyblade and let me hold it while he went to his car. It was fun hosting it on my shoulder.

Then we registered and checked out the Artist's alley. That was cool, and I came back later to see even more.
Other highlights were the Constructing Mecha panel, the Manga library, and the Go workshop (the game "Go," it's Japanese), along with the Dealers' room and artists' alley, various anime, and a concert that night. And I can't forget the AMVs. There was also a "Top 10 Transformer's episodes" panel.

The first amazing thing was the "Constructing Mecha" panel. Little did I realize that this was a Constrcting Lego Mecha panel, in which some WAMALUG guys showed of mecha MOCs and discussed the overall framework (skeleton) and connections, gears, friction, and anything essential for constructing Lego Mecha. Then they answerd questions and us Lego builders helped one noob adult figure out some Lego stuff so he could get into Lego!

The Manga Library was another great idea. Don't have a panel to go to or want to chill? Get hooked on a new manga for free here! Choose a manga they have and sit down. That's all there is to it!

The AMV's were so cool! I've never really stuck to it, so being "forced" to watch some was amazing. I liked it. Search for "Code Monkey AMV." That won an award and I am now a fan of the song. There were other good ones that won too, like "Nakama (Part 1)" with "Easy" by Barenaked Ladies using One Piece, and a Kingdom Hearts AMV called "What Have You Done" (song is also "What Have You Done" by Within Temptation)

I didn't take pix, but if you find the official AUSA picture site, go to page 4 in the "Friday-out on the Floor" and you'll see an amazing Hollow from Bleach. He has a mirror on his chest and back to really make him look hollow!
I did take pix of my goodies from the Dealers' room, but that deserves an entry of its own. I think next time I'll take my camera but take photos from a distance so I'm not an annoying fanboy. (wait. Are there fanboys? Or is that a bad thing? Alright, I didn't want to be an annoying fan.)

At night, before my friends and I left at 11 o'clock, we went to the Back-On concert for a while and pumped our fists, waved our hands, etc.

What a great Otaku day. Definitely made my weekend!
